Great service. Best pho around. Amazing other foods you would not think they serve. Like steak and potato's. Yum yum
Stomach was feeling a little queasy and this place is close to where I work so I decided to try it out. Got the tofu pho since I wasn't sure if my stomach could handle the beef. This did the job. The noodles and garnish were good. The broth was a little dark and was a bit salty for my taste. It was also steaming hot, but the broth itself wasn't super hot? Not sure how that happened. I wish the broth was hotter. I will return to try their other plates. Parking: Street parking or parking in cooke street lot (they validate)
I went here for a small lunch, and it wasn't that busy. I ordered the summer roll appetizer since I wasn't too hungry. I thought it tasted pretty good! I loved how their sauce had shrimp paste. However, the service was extremely slow. The food came out quickly, but after that, I wasn't checked up on. I was the last one in the restaurant, and it took a while to get my check. The waiters were eating their own lunch so I was giving them grace, but after waiting for about 20 minutes, I had to call them from across the room to finally pay.
If you are craving pho in downtown, i think this place isn't too bad for the price they are offering. Combination pho was roughly around $16. The portion was good with a decent amount of toppings. Broth was decent. I wouldn't say that their quality was exceptionally great/the best, but the aunty was nice, food came out super quick (perfect for people who have 1hr lunch hour), satisfy the craving if you want hot broth/pho.
Been here 4 times in the past few weeks for lunch. Solid Vietnamese flavors all around with fresh ingredients. Great service. Very comfortable, clean environment. Beef Pho with Tendons - Well balanced broth. Not too sweet or salty. Big pieces of tendons and standard sized thinly slices of beef. Oxtail Pho - Yep I would definitely come back just for this. The oxtail pieces themselves were good but the broth got my attention. Great depth of beef flavor that makes you want to keep slurping the broth incessantly. Spicy Squid, Shrimp, Mussels Rice Plate - Generous portion that is good for family style. The seafoods were nicely marinated in fish sauce and evenly cooked to a nice tender. They have a number of "spicy" rice dishes here which sets them apart from the typical Vietnamese restaurant where they let you add spicy with condiments at the table. Here the spiciness is inherent in the dish and will grab your attention. I love spicy spicy foods and the heat here was just right for me. Vermicelli noodles with BBQ Pork and Springrolls. Meaty spring rolls fried to a nice golden crisp. The bbq pork had a good grilled smoky flavor. The pork itself could've used some marinating. Park in the Imperial Plaze parking lot. Let the parking attendant know you're going to Pho Nam and they will give you a ticket to get validated. Happy Eating!!
This place has been here forever. It's never that crowded so I've always amazed that they are still in business. Despite their name their Pho is mediocre at best. It's watery and lacks much flavor. Portion size is also on the smaller size. I'd suggest their other dishes. Their lemongrass chicken is pretty good and their Bun is decent. I only come here because its convenient and they are open late.
Came in for a quick bowl of pho. My order went in and not even a few minutes my pho was served. Same as for another two who ordered after me. As for the pho, it wasn't what I was expecting but it was still delicious. I typically dance the more robust aromatic broth, the broth here was more healthy-rich beef flavor. Almost a roast beef'ish and bone broth flavor. Not to mention soup came out piping hot, with steam still emitting from the bowl. It came loaded with meat which was awesome, although no trip here in the combination. The interior decor is slight farrier intimate vibe and the ac was flowing nicely. Albeit there is a large fan sound in the background. All around good place and leaving with a happy tummy.
On my return visit I ordered something different. I ordered the chili pepper squid with the side of rice. The food portion was generous but unfortunately the chili pepper seasoning didn't have much of a punch to it and the squid was pretty tough. So tough and back I really couldn't eat but a third of the dish so the rest went to waste. Such a shame because past visits have always given this place a really high rating.
I work a few minute walk away so I usually come here for takeout when I forget lunch. I get their *veggie spring roll with vermicelli noodles. Portion size is big and always have enough to save for the next day. On morning-after-hangover days at work, I'd dine-in and come for their Pho! Their beef phos are all the same price, including the combination I believe.. so might as well get it all. Broth was good on it's own and the meat portions were reasonable. I'm staying away from red meat so I've been ordering the Rice Noodle in Crab Meat Broth which I believe is their Bún riêu (correct me if I'm wrong). I'm not entirely sure what crab broth is supposed to taste like.. but the tomato part was very strong which is fine, I like tomato broth. Noodles weren't really complimenting the broth like I hoped - didn't absorb or couldn't taste it with the broth - but separated it was fine. The tofu was flavorful (I forgot there was pork in this dish). I actually would order again! Overall, staff and service are nice and quick - I'm always in and out in about half an hour. Definitely will continue to come here during my lunch breaks.

The price is extremely reasonable for the portions which is really hard to come by these days. Dining is great as well they have all the spices, and dressings on the tables which is nice. Coconut tapioca pudding (not pictured) is 6/10 it's a cold sweet treat pudding with tapioca pearls! It's sharable after eating all of this. Best crispy spring rolls ever, we always get them. 10/10 My boyfriend gets the kabli rice plate the meat is soft and flavorful it also comes with rice, a salad + dressing. 10/10 I always get the Bbq Chicken plate it is always grilled perfectly, and my absolute favorite part is that is comes with spring rolls on the plate! Plus vermicelli noodles with a salad + dressing. I love it! 10/10
Pho restaurant located in kakaako. They have a parking lot directly behind the restaurant, free parking with validations. The restaurant was clean and the servers were very friendly. I ate the chicken wings, spring roll, and the combination pho. Everything was nice and fresh and the fried items were very crispy. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Yelp Ghost strikes again! Guess Yelp Ghost is more active during COVID-19. I know for certain I reviewed this place because of my love for pho and this is one of my friends favorite pho restaurants on the island. Pho Nam is deserving of my time to be reviewed again. They are located in Imperial Plaza on the corner of Kawaiahao and Cooke. You can park inside or find street parking. Make sure to park in a green customer stall if you park in the building. The restaurants decor is dated and simple but customer service is really friendly here. When I come here, I always order number 18 with the rare steak on the side. It comes with tendon, boiled beef, slices of rare steak and veggies. Portion size of veggies are average but they do not have culantro. Broth is good and they do give lots of rare steak slices. Noodles and tendons are soft. Their sauté sauce is legit and has a hint of lemongrass. Overall 3.5 and a great pho option in the Kakaako area. read more

We went out with dear friends to ride the trolley to see the Honolulu City Lights last month. We did it last year because of Covid and it was pretty fun so we opted to do it again! We were pretty hungry afterwards so we went to Pho Nam for dinner. Located on Kapiolani, they have a parking garage which is free or there is street parking. Covid vaccination is required to dine in. The owner (female) was very sweet and got everything out to us quickly. The hubby and I shared spring rolls. They were okay. I got the pork and shrimp vermicelli. She said it was a very popular item and I can see why! Tons of flavor. I really enjoyed it. The hubby got oxtail pho which he said was okay. My kiddo got meatball pho. The broth was okay to me. She devoured it of course. Our friends got spring rolls as well, oxtail pho, and pho with egg noodles. They really enjoy the broth in the oxtail pho (I think it's different from the meatball pho - the broth in the oxtail was considerably darker than the meatball pho) Portions are decent and prices are average. Our bill for everything was around $110. Not my favorite place, but glad I tried. The service is great, free parking, clean interior, and decent food. read more

I eat pho probably 3 times a week. Phonatic if you will. The pho here is different from most places. The broth is dark and very beefy. Not much spice to the broth like the star anise and what not. So I wasn't sure at first but I actually really enjoyed it. The service was very fast and friendly. surprisingly empty during lunch time. most days we're the only table in there. seems like a lot of people do takeout though the first time i went i got the spicy lemongrass chicken. on the oily side, but a ton of flavor. medium spice. comes sauteed with a kim chee styled cabbage mixture, and a side of lettuce & tomatoes. the second time i got the lemon beef salad (one of my usual vietnamese restaurant orders). out of all the places i've ordered this dish from, this one had the MOST beef. like WAYY more than any of the other places ive been to. while the beef itself isnt directly seasoned, theres a ton of the "dressing" thats settled on the bottom of the plate. and they give you a side of fish sauce too. i actually ran out of my lettuce long before i ran out of beef. i would totally get this dish again and again. read more

This is a really nice place Vietnamese restaurant as far as it goes for décor, cleanliness, service and location. However, although the food wasn't bad, I wasn't very impressed that it offered anything extra or unique from other Vietnamese restaurants. Maybe it was what I ordered, but it just didn't stand out for me. I got the grilled pork rolls as a starter. They were freshly prepared and decent, but again, nothing special. For my main, I order beef Pho. Again, it wasn't bad, but didn't stand out as anything special. The place was very nice and comfortable. I would probably bring family from the mainland there that might be intimidated by going to the more edgier Chinatown roach coaches. While there, I noticed some other dinners that seemed to be familiar with the place and all ordering similar dishes. This tells me that there is something special they are known form and I would like to go back again and ask what are their house specials. For now, I have to hold at a 3 star, but will be happy to update once I return to see if I was wrong. read more

Let's be real, Hawaii has been unusually COLD lately. But this sweater weather goes great with soup! Pho Nam is located on Cooke Street. We walked in and was luckily seated right away. We both ordered a bowl of Pho. The pho was good portioned and hit the spot. The broth was a bit different from what I'm used to, but I still really liked it. Since moving into the Kaka'ako neighborhood, we have been exploring more of its dining scene. We have counted on Pho Nam Vietnamese restaurant to be in our rotation of 3 restaurants for its cleanliness, quick service, good flavors and reasonable prices. FOOD: -Summer Rolls (Goi Cuon): the rice paper wrappers are supple and you can tell that they make these per order and not ahead of time. The filling does not have the usual slices of pork so this makes this Summer Roll perfect for vegetarians. There are several split whole shrimp rolled with fresh lettuce, bean sprouts and rice vermicelli. The peanut sauce (mixture of ground peanuts or peanut butter, hoisin, soy sauce, lime juice(?), garlic and chili paste) was served with it. 2 huge rolls are served per order and you don't need to use any utensils to eat these salads. Just pick them up and bite in. A nice break from the deep fried Spring Rolls (cha gio). $6.50 -Pho: we usually choose Pho Nam's "everything but the kitchen sink" variation which is called "Pho tái nam gân" or pho with rare beef steak, cooked flank and tendon. Other Vietnamese restaurants have their variations which include tripe, meatballs or beef brisket but not this restaurant. Pho Nam's broth is clear and beefy. It's not as multi-dimensional as other broths that we've tasted but, it's tasty and comforting. There is an option to upgrade to a larger portion for an additional $1.00 but the regular portion is quite generous. $10.95 As we have been here several times, we've been seeing other customers order the rice plates (especially the grilled beef, chicken and pork chop plate) and that's what we'd order when it's not "soup noodle weather". read more

Love this place for it's convenience, just a quick walk and we were ready to fill our bellies. Food is always good, never had a dish I didn't like. Service was really quick. Every time I go, she's always there with a smile. Quiet and spacious place. Everything just hit the spot. read more

Walked over to see what restaurants are in the area. Decided here, Pho Nam. It's 8:30pm and it looked slow probably because the dinner crowd already left. They had a very extensive menu. I was going to try Pho but I asked the server for her recommendations. She said to try the Pork Chops. So I did. Omg! It came with their special Nuoc Cham sauce and the first bite was like wow! The crisp outside and tender inside was the perfect combination. Couldn't wait for the second, third bite and so on. It was presented on a bed of rice with nice greens and tomatoes on the side. There were two pieces and she threw in a piece of BBQ Chicken, which was tender and flavorful too, thank you.! I was very content and walked back home to burn some calories off. I will definitely be back soon. read more

With the new mandate, they have signs posted at the door to show proof of vaccination to dine in. Today I came in for take out and they were happy to serve me. As I was driving home the smell of the broth was making my mouth water SO YUM (I got the oxtail pho today but their combination is also good). Not only is their pho delicious, but the ladies at the front are always nice and appreciative. Please support local! Street parking is free after 6pm I believe, making it an easy, affordable, and satisfying dinner spot. read more
After watching other people eat pho on YouTube, I got that craving. Originally, we were going to the central part of the island and go to one of my usual spots (yes, mine not his since he's no pho fan) but a change in plans and we stayed in our neighborhood. For us, its a 10-15 minute walk so we didn't have to worry about drive time or parking. At most I can tell you is that there's metered street parking. We came for dinner (around 645p). I thought it would be crowded but there was only one other party there (a family of four with a screaming baby). Cozy little restaurant, with an additional dining area (I guess for those hours when they're super busy or have a large party). All I wanted was pho but my boyfriend wanted some spring rolls, which we ordered. FRESH, so hot it burnt our mouths as we were trying to eat it. I personally don't care but he enjoyed it a lot which set his hopes up for the rest of our meal. He ordered New York steak with mushrooms and potatoes and man, it's the perfect example of "looks are deceiving". If you were sitting across from him, the look of disappointment was clear on his face. He asked for his steak to be medium, but I swore it was still mooing. Anyway, as juicy as he said his steak was, it had zero taste, like it was just soaked in water; when he said that, I'm like, ew gross. He thought he couldn't taste it because he was sick but he could taste everything else. He LOVES a good steak, and when he doesn't finish it, you know something is wrong. The standard pho I get anywhere I go: rare beef pho or something along those lines. I'm not 100% certain but I felt like their noodles tasted plain and I've been around the pho block a few times. My first bite, I thought to myself... "oh" then after, "what other places did I want to eat at?" The ladies working were friendly though after we ordered and got our food, they didn't come to check on us. Throughout our meal, we were fanning our food to keep the flies away. In total, our bill came to almost $50. Paid in cash. Wouldn't recommend coming here for steak. Don't think we'll be coming back. read more
