I am very impressed! The Combo A is a really good deal! For less than 10.00 I received a "small" portion of ramen, a "small" portion of fried rice and 4 qyoza. I say "small" because these are not small at all.. They are quite generous portions!! We were served our food less than 10 minutes after ordering it. Everything was hot and yummy. Very busy at 6pm on a rainy night but we were seated immediately. My only minor complaint was my water glass sat empty for good while, even though the waitress glanced at it several times. It was only refilled when she brought us our check and we asked for it. I agree with other reviews who have noted that the waitresses have a get in get out mentally. Very efficient but not super friendly. That's ok though, I love efficiency. read more

The Good: Clean and well kept restaurant. Quick service and huge portions. Everything else was just kinda meh. I got the mapo tofu ramen. It basically seemed they took congealed jello like mapo tofu and added hot water to make a broth. The flavor was pretty good and there was a little kick to it. I know I've had the katsu before and that was pretty good. My dad got the chicken katsu curry and agreed. You're not going to get authentic Japanese ramen here. It's sort of more like a hybrid ramen/saimin. So if authenticity is what you seek, I'd suggest checking out one of numerous other ramen shops in Hawaii. read more

the ramen wasn't as tasty as i expected to be. the soup isn't that flavorful and the amount of seaweed in the ramen was kind of an overload and took away from the noodles. read more

Ramen-Ya - gomoku ramen - Ramen Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

I came here with an old time friend for lunch and we weren't exactly blown away. We both got Combo A, which consists of 4pc gyoza, a side, and a mini ramen. I got my ramen with shio broth (the only other choice for this combo is a miso broth) and fried rice. My friend got the same broth, but chose chicken katsu curry as her side. We were blown away at the size of the "sides," they were very generous! The gyoza was average at best. I mean, how hard is it to make gyoza taste yummy? They practically sell themselves! The flavor was pretty bland and they weren't very hot. The ramen was good. It came with green onions, fish cake, and charsiu-pretty standard. The mini ramen was a good, generous size. I wish it also had more flavor. I tried my friends katsu curry and was instantly jealous I hadn't ordered the same. The katsu was perfectly crispy and the curry had a good spice and perfect texture. My fried rice was good. It had all the works from egg, pork, and an assortment of veggies. The combo was $9.95 which is a great deal for the amount of food we got. I wasn't impressed with the flavor of everything. I left this ramen restaurant impressed by their katsu curry, which isn't exactly something they should want their customers thinking. I will give them an out and say that I tried a very basic ramen, and they had tons of other yummy looking options that I, unfortunately, couldn't get with my combo. I would be willing to pay a little extra for my combo to get something more unique than a shio-broth ramen, but I don't know if that's an option. read more

Great food. Friendly and very large portions. We eat there twice a week. The prices are quite reasonable. You won't be sorry. Open 7 days a week! read more

The discount is 15 percent NOT 25 like how I posted. Clip it out of the crave section of Wednesday paper or Sunday dining out.

I ate here a couple of nights ago with a friend. The food was pretty good....but not the best ramen I tasted. I got the combo A which comes with a small bowl ramen, fried rice, and gyoza. I enjoyed the ramen and gyoza, but did not like the fried rice. It just tasted like brunt rice with some peas. But the portion size is really generous and I was pretty full after my meal, so that's a plus for me. My friend got the spam katsu curry. It looked good so I had to steal a taste and man was it tasty. If you are a spam lover, I would get it. Remember, everything tastes better when it's battered and fried. The service was pretty good. We got seated right away and didn't have to wait long for our meals. All in all, I would go again. It's a nice place to eat with family and friends. read more

If you like Goma Tei or Kiwami, you probably will not like Ramen Ya. The reason I wandered in here was that it seems to be one of very few ramen shops in East Oahu (Tokyo Noodle House was not an option). They were not very busy because it was between lunch and dinner times, and the service was prompt and friendly, but not extremely professional. There was a decent variety of menu items which were of average presentation and flavor. Prices for food were reasonable. There is a lot of parking, since it is in a shopping center. It was okay, but I think I will drive endure the drive to Metro Oahu next time I feel like having very good ramen. read more

What I really like most about this restaurant is the way they make their Curry Rice Dishes. Simply Delicious!!! Good size too. I also like their "Happy Hour" policy where you get free gyoza. & their Gyoza is also pretty tasty too. Fast service & located at the nice area like Hawaii Kai. Their Ramen also pretty good too. Overall, no complaino, & definitely earned a perfect 5/5 from me. Good work Ramen-Ya!!! read more

Seating was clean and spacious. The food was awesome. Ordered the combo ramen, gyoza, katsu currry for only $12.99 and since it was happy hour we got another order of free gyoza. Couldn't finish, was too much food, LOL! I highly recommend this place, read more

I went here with my boyfriend and his mom the other day for lunch during their happy hour, when you get one free order of gyoza. I ordered the chicken katsu ramen and totally underestimated their serving size! In the end, I was completely full and my bowl looked like I didn't even touch it! They also have combos, which come with a ramen, fried rice, and gyoza. Their fried rice is soo delicious, you can really taste the sesame oil, which I love. The place can get pretty busy, but we got in with no wait. The service is pretty good and the food comes out pretty quickly also. In the end, the food was good and I will probably come back again, but it wasn't a five-star amaaaaaazing. (: read more

The spicy seafood udon was absolutely delicious and creamy. The portions are a great size.

They have upgraded quality of their food. Ramen, gyoza & curry rice are much better than before! Super happy about it & prices are good too. Ramen-ya & Gomatei are my fav! read more

Tried ramen on 2 visits. Gomoku. Vegetable. Good sized bowl. Portions generous. Price is cheap, $, not $$ as shown here, especially if you come in afternoons where they give you 4pc gyoza. But this is definitely quantity over quality when you dine here. On the plus side, no waiting, you get your pick of the seating. Service is quick. Now is the tragic part. Noodles not firm. Yellow, pale, overcooked. Toppings (corn, konbu, fishcake, etc.) cold. At least wait a few min before serving, to warm it up, or heat it up somehow. Be thoughtful. Think about your customers experience. Have pride in what you serve. The Chinese invented noodles, and the Japanese and Italians have perfected them, it seems. These workers need to go back to their roots and make their heritage proud. Broth has no taste. You know its bad when you start looking around for they soy sauce bottle on a table. Even the red chili power shaker did not help. S&S saimin broth packet from frozen case in costco better. Gyoza barely can discern any meat taste. I thought I was eating a vegetarian cabbage gyoza. Should have gone to Panda Express or BK a few doors away. I was shooting for cheaper and healthier, real food, so I came here. Spend under $8 with free 4pc gyoza during afternoon happy hour. But seriously, they would earn more stars, if they do serious broth (spend 2 days on it like they do on japanese eating shows), and buy some higher quality, firmer noodles. I think they can even up the quality just by getting the refrigerated sun noodle in the cold case at Costco across the parking lot. Gave me a slice of pineapple at the end of the meal on one visit only, so not sure if that is a standard feature or not. read more

This is your typical ramen place. I wouldn't consider it authentic Japanese ramen, but it's satisfying enough. The ramen portions are average, but what I really like here is the Chicken Katsu Curry. I can barely finish the kid's portion! It's a good amount of food. A coworker of mine ordered the regular size and had just over 2 meals worth of food. It's pretty delicious, too! read more

I was so happy with this place.. Everything is just right. Food is amazing, all of it! Great prices for large amounts. I wish I had this restaurant back home because I still crave it. We went four times in the two weeks I worked in Hawaii. read more

Ramen-Ya - Ramen Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Ramen is alright, but the soup (broth) is sub-par, not real Japanese taste. Most of their dishes are huge, and inexpensive, so if you are a big eater and on budget, this is definitely a place for you; however, if you are a discerning diner, this is not the establishment for you. read more

So I went here in order to give Wilton G. a taste of some "real" ramen. My hopes were already shattered right when I looked at the menu, there was only one type of broth and, by the photos on the menu, it seemed as though the only thing you could control about your ramen was the type of noodle and what would be placed on top. I did not want to be rude and leave, so I figured I would give it a little taste. I mean, their name is RAMEN-YA so it gives me the impression I am going to be super excited and scream YA after eating my ramen. Am I right? Since there was virtually no way appealing to me to modify my ramen I decided to go the cheapskate way and get a combo which comes with a mini ramen, gyoza, and another "mini" item of your choice. I picked chicken katsu curry and my man got the fried rice. Ramen - not so good... The noodles were all rubbery and weird and there was not much else in it except for a fatty piece of meat. I am used to ramen having a hard-boiled egg in it and saving that for last after its soaked up all the delicious ramen-y flavors. Poo. Ramen fail. ALSO: WHAT SORT OF ASIAN RESTAURANT DOESN'T HAVE SRIRACHA?!? BLASPHEMY. I wanted to spice my ramen broth up a bit, but all available was TABASCO?!? Tabasco is crap. Chicken katsu curry - Nom Nom Nom. I wanted to just order a bowl of curry and slurp it all up. Fried Rice - I did not enjoy you. I though the fried rice was very fishy and weird. I couldn't put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but I wanted it away from my mouth. I was still super full with half my meal for leftovers when all was said and done. And we only ended up spending 19 doll hairs. But, even with price and amount of food factored in.. You can give me a million pounds of mediocre for pennies, but it is still mediocre. read more

My first ramen experience was a good one. I'm usually a pho fan, but there is no good pho in Hawaii Kai. We were looking for healthy, inexpensive food, and found it. My husband had the chicken katsu and loved it. The potion was so large, he had another meal the next night. I enjoyed the shio ramen, but again, the portion was so large, I'll have some today. We ordered the gyoza, which was yummy, although I did need to add some hot sauce. The place is small, well designed, and clean. The service was incredibly good. We really don't have many good restaurant choices here in Hawaii Kai, so this was a bonus, and we will be regulars. read more

CAUTION: PORTIONS are HUGE...especially if you get the big bowl. 2 people are share a big bowl. From what i see from other reviewers. i wouldn't come here for anything but the ramen. The noodles are good and the soup base is also good. were weren't able to try anything else and even though we got the gyoza for free, i didn't think it was very tasty. i'd come back here if i lived here but for what we were aiming for, it hit the spot and then some. I would also say more for locals and not for tourist. i was a tourist in the area and just got really hungry. read more

I think this is a great ramen place to have a nice family dinner. But after eating I feel like this is a generic version of Agu Ramen I think this is the last time I'll be eating here. It just doesn't give me the satisfaction of a ramen even the gyoza doesn't taste that great but I give it 3 stars because my kids love it here and it's inexpensive read more

Many many choices in ramen, curry and fried rice. Portion sizes were huge and our lunches also became our dinners. Great choice for all.

I had a Ramen craving but was too lazy to drive to a more established quality Ramen restaurant (as this restaurant was closer to home). I decided to eat at Ramen Ya, believing that it would still thoroughly satisfy my craving. I was pretty wrong about that. If you want bean-sprout-soup, then this is the place to be. Ramen? Nope. It was about 70% bean sprout and 30% ramen noodle. That being said, their meats and fried rice are tasty and prices aren't bad, just don't have crazy expectations. They're just A'ight. read more

I placed my order when we were on our way there. And the food was ready for pick up when we arrived. Food is always tasty and consistent, so I know what to expect. The workers use English as a second language but are polite and friendly. Ramen-ya is our go to place when we want ramen. read more

New place that opened in the Hawaii Kai Town Center where the Pet's Discount was. For a new place it was pretty good. I ordered the Chuka Ramen, which was pretty good. We got fried rice and gyoza too. Both were pretty good. I think the gyoza is made is in house, didn't taste like the kind you defrost and cook, the veggies in the gyoza were still crunchy. The wait staff was good, but they should give customers a little more time before they as if we are ready to order. We had just sat down and gotten our menus when the lady came to ask us if we were ready to order. They should turn the AC down a little. For the people that like to eat their ramen while it's hot, with the temperature of the restaurant you have to eat fast otherwise your ramen cools down really fast. All in all it's a good place for ramen. We'll be going back again later. read more

This place is a convenient quick fix if I'm craving local Japanese food since it's around my neighborhood. The ramen is not exceptionally great here so I usually go for the mochiko chicken plate or the seafood crispy noodle. The restaurant is pretty crowded but the food still comes out quick. read more

Big portions, cheap good food. Reminds me greatly of Daiichi ramen, when Daiichi was good. Chicken Katsu curry is big, crunchy and so much curry with veggies. The char siu in the ramen is bomb. Gyoza happy hour is definitely a plus. The downside? I don't reccomend taking out, it'll get soggy read more

My husband and I got veggie ramen here and he noticed that it tasted weird and looked like pork was in his bowl. He asked if there was meat in the veggie ramen and was told "little bit" they should really warn you about that. Overall the food is not great either. read more

My daughter and I come to Oahu 3x a year. We always take the first flight out and land around 10am. The first place we go to after we get our rental car has always been Ramen Ya! I'm not a big ramen guy, but my daughter seems to love getting the same thing every time - wonton ramen. I can't get enough of the Mochiko chicken. I slather it with the chili paste and go to town on it with some white rice! I probably gained 10lbs last time we visited because I was eating it every day. My daughter and I usually get two orders of the fried rice, also. One to eat while there, and one to take back to our hotel to snack on later. Another favorite dish of mine is the seafood on crispy noodle dish. It's a huge dish that I tell myself I'm not going to finish...but I do! Edamame and gyoza to start off with is automatic for us. The ladies know us by now and are always happy to see us when we visit. They are really nice once you get to know them. The place can get really busy and the service is very fast. I'm ok with them not seeming like they're the friendliest people on the planet. I smile and treat them nice. Relax, be happy and live Aloha. You're in Hawaii! :-) read more

Food and service are fine. Just be aware that they are not honoring the coupon that's sent to you from the star-advertiser.

I was craving ramen so I decided to give this place a try. It smelled yummy when we walked in but was almost immediately met with a very unfriendly server. The server ( a female) rudely commented about my 1 year old son (who was antsy & had gotten out of his high chair) being in the way. I understand safety and all but this lady was out of line. I talked to the other employee, hoping to speak to a manager but she really didn't care either. Bottom line: never got to try the food because customer service was TERRIBLE & I ended up leaving. NOT family friendly! read more

never disappoints! the combo packs are more than enough for two people. Not that I'll ever share it....

I would give it 0 if I could. Worst ramen I've ever had almost threw up. Was recommended by several people but I'm convinced they haven't tried good ramen. If you want Ramen there's a lot of better places to go to but if you want to spend ur money and be distingues with both food and service go right ahead and have yourself a nasty meal. The only thing I'm grateful is that I didn't get sick otherwise I would be thinking about suing the restaurant. read more

Had dinner here and I thought it was great. The portions of the fried rice was huge...you can share or have it for 2 meals. I liked the mochiko chicken. Did not try the ramen yet? I did notice that there was a lot of take outs as we enjoyed our meal. All I have to say better than Tokyo noodle house well for now. read more

Decided to eat at the new place. The stars are for cleanliness and being located by Costco and Ross. didn't get any stars for food or service. I had gomoku ramen, 4 piece gyoza and a pepsi. The ramen truly did not have any taste and had to add chili pepper and oil! And for me this is proof since I usually do not add pepper or chili oil to anything!. The gyoza itself was ok, but the gyoza sauce itself was again ....tasteless! Sort of pricey too since came out to $14 plus change! Service was what you'd expect in a old school chinese restaurant. My favorite ramen place is Sanoya. Ramen is tasty, plentiful, and really reasonable! Lose money! read more

The Char siu was the best part of my ramen bowl. I'd order a whole plate of that soft, flavourful pork if I could. The broth was the weak point for me, though I probably like it thicker and more potent than most. I didn't like the pickled bamboo in my ramen. The fried rice was of the local variety. Hmm, what else was memorable -- their staff were friendly and...Chinese. Just so you know, ramen is a Japanese take on a Chinese dish. My family liked the place and so did I. If you don't like them, it's okay...really. There's plenty of other people that'll keep them in business. Ramen-Ya, please fix the broth. Much love. read more

I've been eating here since they opened. In my opinion, they have pretty good noodles, especially for the price. I've been having curry udon all this time, and I really like it. It's obviously not as amazing as some place like Marukame, but Ramen-Ya is so close to my place, it's just so convenient. I can't pass up the gyoza happy hour, either. The gyoza is really good, trust me. I guess the only thing that could use improvement is the service. The staff is helpful, but they don't smile or anything so they can come off as intimidating to some. For me, I like their food enough to not really care, but I know that aspect of the restaurant can really turn some people against it. read more

Good place to go if you want a quick meal and are really hungry. Portions are large and tasty. I got an A combo and could barely finish it.
