    CARNITAS TONKOTSU
    Awele M.

I don't care if it's 99° outside... I'm eating RAMEN! This was my second time visiting Ramen Del Barrio and my first time checking them out at their new location since they moved. And honestly, I really enjoyed the experience! The new spot has a great ambiance--it feels welcoming, lively, and perfect for a cozy meal. The service was good too, and everything came together for a nice dining experience. I ordered the Carnitas Tonkotsu, and BABY... the portion was HUGE! The broth was rich, creamy, and full of flavor, and the carnitas were a delicious addition. I did ask for some spice on the side, and they brought me a spicy black sauce (I unfortunately don't remember the name), but LET ME WARN YOU... THAT SAUCE IS SPICY! If you're someone who loves heat, go for it but definitely add a little at a time because it will sneak up on you! This ramen honestly feels like it would make an amazing fall/winter meal. That rich broth is exactly what I want when the weather starts cooling down. Overall, I had another great experience at Ramen Del Barrio. Between the flavorful ramen, generous portions, good service, and fun atmosphere, I'll definitely be back for another bowl even if Austin is still giving us summer weather!

First I will preface this with this is not what I was expecting. I dropped my car off at the Lexus dealer and put in Yelp best tacos near me and it brought me here. I was not expecting Asian tacos lol. I really loved the vibe the place is really cute on the inside small and the employees are super friendly. They seem to have plenty of parking and if you're in the mood there's a tattoo place at the end of the building. I am honestly on the fence about this place because I probably should've gotten the Ramen. Both people on either side of me at the bar area had Ramen it looked and smelled delicious! My short rib taco was really good it was definitely different than I was expecting but the meat was really tender and not greasy and fatty. The snow crab tostada the man I ordered from said it was his favorite thing on the menu so I was expecting it to taste better. It was a little too mayonnaisey for me. I ate it because it was expensive, not because I liked it. I did find the wasabi tobiko interesting.? They have water and glasses out in the seating area so you can help yourself to refills all you need I had my water bottle and they said right away oh you can fill your water bottle up over here. That's a nice touch. When I arrived I think they must've just opened there was no line. But it was almost full inside. I could see how they get a line because it is a very small place. Right when you walk in there is a counter where you order everything from this really nice guy that was there and he'll answer your questions no rush rushing it was great. They see you they give you a little card with a animal on it and then people just keep bringing your food until you have no more food ordered. After that I assume you are expected to leave because people are waiting for your table so don't dillydally here!

Easiest 5 stars! We had a variety of their tacos which all are phenomenal. The best in my opinion was the octopus. We also shared the chilaquiles ramen which was SO GOOD. It's so creamy and delicious. There can be a line but it's def one of those places worth waiting. I will be dreaming of those flavors until I can return

Finally got to check out the new location! Looks really cool inside and out. Pretty easy to determine once you see the art on the building. I can say the food is still top tier. That's some tasty ramen! The taco was good too. What I also really like about here is the food presentation. It always looks great and makes me want to eat it more. Great job here per usual!

The bessssst ramen fusion in town Love this spot The tuna tostada is amazing just get it I love the carnitas ramen - so good - add an egg!! But the chilaquiles ramen is insane - this one is my absolute favorite - the green is the best Service is great - order at the front and they bring it out as ready The decor is so cute - love the new spot!! Overall best ramen fusion in town

Worth the wait in the heat. I will say the line may detour most and that's fair. Saying that come prepared. Bring an umbrella, liquids and good company cause it's going to be worth it. We have visited the new brick and mortar twice around 1pm and the line is always present. There are no to go orders and no call ahead. This helps them keep the quality in every experience. I highly recommend the pozole red! It is amazing and every sip is good magic. I don't even know how they do it but this was the first time I wanted to sip broth more than anything. With that being said the space is humble, authentic and just good vibes.

This review is for the new RDB! I don't like it that much when I went the first time, but damn it's climbed its way up. I think I just didn't like the mole or chilaquiles men. However the pozole ramen was so herby and fragrant and not heavy. It was fantastic. The carnitas tonkotsu may look heavy, but it's a light broth, and could use more meat. The real show stopper was the scallop tostada my god it was such a bright bite and the scallop just dissipates. The mango and the little green popping eggs were crazy!! THE SCALLOP COLD RAMEN NEEDS TO BE A PERMANENT MENU ITEM IT WAS SO SPICY ANS CHEWY AND THE SCALLOP WAS SOOO GOOODDDDD The high ball was booty cheeks like tasted like a huge shot. There was no classic lemon flavor

Perfection in a bowl. I had the Pazole ramen and I'm sad I'll be leaving town and can't eat it again sooner. I tried the carnitas ramen as well and while it was good, it couldn't touch the Pazole. This place is busy, packed and loud. Do not come here planning for a romantic dinner. The staff were all extremely kind and helpful. I can't wait till I'm back in Austin again.

The quality of food definitely has improved after 6 months of closing and now reopening! This place is definitely deserving of the Michelin guide mention. The dry noodles were excellent and full of flavor. Loved how thick and chewy the noodles were. Ramen (carnitas tonkotsu) was also another highlight. Broth was decadent and creamy. So addicting! It wasn't too salty like the first time I had it when they were still inside the supermarket. Tostadas were good too, I didn't like the octopus one because it was way too spicy but everything else was great. Really enjoyed the beef intestine and how crispy it was. My favorite was the scallop tostada though. Pork belly and short rib ones were also well flavored with that nice sweet and savory profile. The salmon sashimi was great too along with the dipping sauce that came with it. It had a nice smoky flavor. This place was so beautifully decorated. It had such a cute rustic ramen old alleyway vibe. The owner was super nice!

I came here after my friends recommended it and now I totally understand the hype. Wow, the food was a amazing! We tried a few of the tacos and the tuna tostada. The tuna tostada was definitely on the spicy side, so be prepared for some heat but it was so good. I also tried the ramen my mom ordered and it was super tasty. For my drink, I went with the horchata, which was a nice balance with all the flavors and spice. We did have to wait outside for around 30 minutes, but once you're inside you are able to order at the front then we were seated and the food came out pretty quickly. The atmosphere is really cool a mix between Mexico and Japan and the service was great as well. I do think it's a little pricey, especially for tacos, but you can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into the food. Overall, definitely worth trying!

It's Japanese Mexican cuisine noodles, along with tacos and tostadas. It just opened on July 25. The hours are from 11 to 3 and then from 4 to 10 or when they sell out. As they just opened up today, we waited in line for about 45 minutes. I guess everybody knows about this place and how great it is.! you walk in and you go out to the cashier and order your food and then you sit down and they will bring it to you. They do have a small bar in it a small. They are credit card only and if you plan to drink, please bring your ID. Everyone was extremely nice and even for their first day they did an excellent job. Would I go back again? Yeseree

Pozole Ramen: Top is Rojo and bottom is Verde
    Yvonne P.

It's one thing to come up with Mexican ramen and it's another to do it VERY WELL. We tried the pozole Ramen in both Rojo and Verde, best ever!! Great ramen egg, it's marinated and jammy. Great noodles, comparable to top ramen restaurants from CA. Broth was delicious. We even tried some side sauces, but the soup really didn't need it. You can tell if a restaurant has the passion of its chef and team behind it by the ambience and details. I personally thought the artwork of the eagle eating the ramen serpent was pretty sick (viva là México ). Staff was very friendly, welcoming, and patient in explaining the menu. 100/10 spot to come back to when ur in the ATX area.

I've been dying to try this place and was so excited when they finally open their own brick and mortar! This restaurant on the inside is beautiful! We came a week after their opening on a Saturday at 10:50am and there was already people in line to wait. There were about 10-12 ppl in front of us and more people came behind us that wrapped about the building. Note this place open at 11am. We got seated 11:30am. Upon entering you will order your food first and pay for them then be seated. The food comes out pretty quick. They definitely got their system down and were very efficiency. As you finish your dishes there were staff that will pick up your dishes. There's tables in the inside and outside. We didn't see anyone get seating in the outside since it was super hot outside. The tables were being turned pretty fast. What we ordered: * Atun tostada - 4/5: it was on the sweeter side but we enjoyed it. It was unique and delicious. * callo tostada- 5/5 the best scallop tosada I had. Balance of freshness and acid,I can eat 10 of these. It was so good! The best thing we ordered. * pulpi tacos - 3/5 - the sauce that came with the octopus is hella spicy too! Some pieces of the Octopus was a tender and others a bit chewy. The tortilla fell apart due to the salsa on the taco made is soggy. * crab tosada- 2/5- it was our least favorite dish. It was a bit salty and unbalanced. * CHILAQWILES-MEN* "ROJO"- 5/5 super firey and spicy! The flavor is so good and it's addicting . It makes you want to continue to eat it even though it's hella spicy. Unfortunately our wimpy nonspicy tummies didn't agree with us so we had to stop eating it after breaking a hard sweat and overheating from the death peppers . For the spicy lovers, I think you will love this! The noodles were bouncy and every bite was exploring something new. Crispy tortilla crisp added texture to this dish. I can't get over how good the texture of the noodle was! It's like Udon's thinner cousin and ramen's thicker cousin. The width is in between. This dish is a dry noodle with a sauce. You can pick a red or green sauce. I selected the red. We loved it but we just couldn't eat it all even though we wanted to! The squeeze of lime is a must! * horchata: 4/5: refreshing cinnamony, I just wish the cup was large. With the whole cinnamon stick and ice in it, there was less liquid so I finish that drink pretty fast and regretted it was gone because I was dieing from the spicy noodles. Service was friendly fast efficient. Vibes 10000000% check pass. You were transported to Mexico japan. The decor was spot on and we love how beautiful it was. The parking lot fills up quick so if you want to try this place come early or be prepare to wait to be seated. The restaurant have ice water and cups out front for ppl waiting in line. Bring an umbrella to have shade and put on suncreen. Texas summer heat is not joke. I brought a little rechargeable fan to keep cool while waiting. Do we recommend this place? Yes! We would like to try their other ramen option and dishes. Well deserved and earned to be part of the Michelin guide and named Bib Gourmand! It's unique with Mexican and Japan fusion dishes that stands out. Bold flavors from both amazing cuisine into phenomenal dishes.

We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi. Yakisoba noodles had the Stir-fried noodles tossed with cabbage, scallion, carrot, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and fragrant negi in a savory house sauce. It was good if you like this type of noodles. Austin roll had Smoked tempeh, tempura tofu, jalapeño, pickles. And on the to Avocado, roasted garlic oil, tempura flakes, smoked paprika, teriyaki. Volcano roll was a deep fried roll which had spinach, avocado, sweet potato. On top: spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, Caviart and tempura onion. I would say this is the best vegetarian sushi place I've found in Austin. So if you're in search, this wouldn't disappoint you.

We were starving by the time the food came, since it did take a while as it was crowded.....like every seat in the house was taken! Dinner is izakaya style which is basically tapas or smaller/shareable plates vs entree style dishes. Lunch menu has more options, including bento boxes which we'll have to try next time! Our server was attentive and nice. Overall, definitely recommend. It is more on the pricier side, but it is worth it. Only thing I would do different is bringing a jacket. We came when there was that odd storm and it was freezing inside the restaurant.

Komé is good but could be great. The huge menu is a catch all of everything you could expect from…read moreJapanese cuisine. It's almost so much that there are too many options. Thankfully, most a very good choices! The fries are great. It's weird to start with that but they really are. Same goes for pretty much any sushi. You'll be able to taste the freshness of the fish. However, avoid the curry and katsu. My katsu can only be described as overdone. The breading tasted nearly burnt dry and banding in the meat (see my photo) shows how it was separating from being cooked too long. The curry is as disappointing as their sister restaurant. It's weak enough that I'd venture I could produce a better curry in bulk. Their menu also changes between lunch and dinner so it's possible other non sushi options are better. So do come here and enjoy the sushi, but don't venture into the other menu items. They'd really shine by focusing on a core menu with less accompanying dishes.
