We ordered food thru DoorDash. It arrived hot, fresh, and extremely well packaged. High quality containers and it was all packaged to travel well with your average delivery driver. Wife got Pad Thai and it was excellent, as well as some soft spring rolls, of which she goes crazy for and is a connoisseur. If she says they are good, then they are top quality. I got the General Tso's Chicken. Both dishes were excellent flavor and good portion sizes. The ingredients were obviously top quality as well. The chicken used was all white meat and tender. The sauce was super flavorful. We also got wonton soup - which came in a superb broth, very savory. Fried rangoons were also crispy and the cheese was rich and tasty. This was our second visit and will be our last. I had Ramen which arrived after a long wait. The soup was cold. The sliced pork belly still had the skin on it. I lived and worked in Japan and never saw this. My wife's entree Hunan fried Fish. It arrived 15 to twenty minutes after I finished my cold ramen. The fish had a heavy breading to the point you had to ask yourself where is the fish. My wife is Chinese and has never seen a preparation like this. Tried this place for the first time and I'm so glad I did! First, the interior is really nice! Everything was clean and the design is very modern. Second, the food was great!! We began with Seaweed Salad and the Super Rocket Roll to share. Both were very good! And for our main courses, we ordered the Triple Delight and the Sakana Roll. Again, both were delicious! (I definitely recommend asking for some ponzu sauce! They have regular and spicy with fresh jalapeño. I got both!) We also went during happy hour (every day 4-7 pm) and ordered a few ZiegenBocks for half-off at $1.50, which was awesome. And finally, I love that the menu has so much to offer! The sushi is wonderful, but there's also a variety of different types of food available. There's a nice selection of appetizers, soups, main dishes and more. I'm already thinking about what to order next time! Overall, I really enjoyed the experience, and it's so nice to have a place like this right around the corner. I have only ever tried this place as takeout and I loved it, but today is the first time I went into the restaurant to eat. Clean open dining room, kid friendly too. The place had good reviews so we decided to stop and check it out since it had been too long since we've had sushi. The place is not very large but it fits a good amount of people. Because of the limited space we did have to wait a good 30+ minutes to be seated but the staff was very nice. When the waiting area started getting crowded and they started to make a list of the people waiting the hostess acknowledged that we had arrived before everyone else and were the next to be seated. Our waitress was young and very friendly. She took our orders and was able to change the teriyaki bowl to accommodate my 5 year old nephew who only likes chicken, rice and some veggies. The waitress didn't seem bothered by the request or the fact that we split the meal three ways. As for the food, all of the rolls were large, yummy, and delicious!! Their spicy edamame, seaweed salad and especially the yellowtail papaya salad really stood out to me. I had no complaints about the the appetizers and sushi rolls. My only disappointment was the dessert. I was really looking forward to their fried banana with ice cream but it was very bland. Not worth the calories. Overall, good place to visit. My wife wanted to go to Rakuu for her birthday dinner, so we did. She ordered one of the sushi rolls and 2 pieces of Sake (salmon), our children each ordered a bowl of the chicken fried rice, and I ordered the chicken pad thai. I will say that when our waiter delivered my pad thai, my initial thought was it had quite a smell to it, kinda smelled like "stinky feet". Now I've had pad thai quite a bit in the past and I do not ever recall it having such a foul smell to it. I was very leery about eating it; however, decided to go for it and did. It tasted okay once I began to dig in. My kids were happy with their meal. My wife received her roll; however, did not receive her pieces of salmon. When she inquired, our waiter said that he would follow-up on it. The restaurant was not busy at all, I think including us there were 3 tables total that were occupied. After waiting some time, my wife told the waiter to forget about the salmon. I'm no sushi chef but our question to each other was "how long does it take to prepare 2 pieces of salmon?" We had been to Rakuu before and had some issues if I recall with the service. But, the manager handled our issue and we left satisfied. I will say that I do not have a burning desire to go back any time soon. read more

Overall for a Spring, TX sushi place, I'll give this place 4 stars... how ever if it was placed in the middle of Houston... I'm not quite sure it would make it.. so for that it deserves 3.5 stars. This place's interior is very well decorated. However the people who dine here all look "under dressed" compared to the atmosphere. (Hey come on its Spring.. that's okay!) I would say that the service doesn't really live up to the atmosphere as well. Nice servers, but the interior vibes portray something more upscale (even though it is in a strip mall, the exterior is deceiving). The waitress that served us did not refill our glasses and had trouble keeping up with our table. To add to that, the drink glasses only hold so much, so you might go through your meal thirsty if you do not keep reminding your server. However she was young and trying, so for a group of 6 I give her some credit. There are range of sushi selections ranging from your classic California roll to some Rakuu specialties. I would recommend their specialties over the classics. The classics were just OK. They also serve Pho and some common Asian dishes. For entrees, sushi is the way to go here. They're extremely tasty; my favorites being the shaggy dog, deluxe roll, super rocket, and the chiharu! The servers are really nice as well. OMG this place is so good! Walking in it looks like a spa. I thought we were in the wrong place. Then when the, very nice host, seated us. I thought we were really in for an expensive time. I was wrong! The place is beautiful, modern and sheik! The prices are on point with other Japanese restaurants and for the amount of food you get. It is very reasonable. We ordered the: Meso soup Ettanomi Seaweed salad Shaggy dog Lafayette roll Some special udon noodles dish Chicken fried rice. All of it was excellent. The Lafayette roll sounds odd. But it is actually excellent and I don't like sea food at all. The fried rice was just ok. But I will try it again to see if it was just a one time thing. YUMMY! This place is amazing and not what I expected when walking into a business-strip center. The atmosphere is so cool and modern. As weird as it may sound - the restrooms are very impressive! Everything is clean. The food is delicious! The only problem I had with the food is I got an order (2 pieces) each of the raw salmon and pepper tuna. The size is not impressive. 1 piece appeared to be half the size of a piece I have gotten at other sushi places. The pepper tuna was amazing but the salmon was room temperature and a little slimy. I only ate one bite of the salmon and gagged. However, the customer service is so great I'm sure had I said something they would have taken the item off of my bill. That is my only complaint and I'm sure it was something overlooked. Everything else was some of the best. Shaggy dog and the spring rolls are great. They have Japanese spring rolls which I've never had but have already been back 3 times this week to get some. They are a little different - rice paper stuffed with rice, crab, advocado, jalapeno, and masago. Well worth the money. Even with the little salmon mis-hap, I will still continue to go to Rakuu on a very regular basis. You should do the same! read more

The moment you walk in you know that you're in for a treat. It's so well-decorated as the rolls themselves are very aesthetically pleasing. Even the drink glass was pretty. First off, I got the steamed pork dumplings and I loved the softness of it. It came with the sauce that I just REALLY liked so I ended up dipping the lettuce in it just to taste the sauce even after I finished the dumplings. Then I got two rolls- Skai and Super Rocket Rolls. I personally wish that they used less of Shrimp Tempura in the rolls because almost every other roll had it- which I think lessens the variety of the rolls. But I love shrimp so I'm not complaining! I went to Rakuu with my boyfriend and his parents the other day. His parents are Peruvian, and they definitely like to stick to their Peruvian roots and eat Peruvian food frequently. Sometimes they aren't too fond of trying other restaurants, but even they loved Rakuu. They had a nice selection of Japanese beers and wines to start. My parents ate one of their specialty roles, and I ordered spring rolls, sashimi, and a vegetable entree. All was delicious! Lastly, the ambiance was great. They played Michael Buble and some classic Italian music. I felt like I was in an Italian restaurant eating Japanese food, and I loved it. My dad even started to dance and sing to one of the mainstream r&b songs, which was hilarious. Our server surprised us with a crepe dessert which was to die for. She spoke Spanish for our parents which they really appreciated. My boyfriend's mom told her thank you afterwards and told her that her service was excellent. Meh. Ordered shrimp fried rice and a shaggy dog roll. Fried rice was really good, but way overpriced for the quantity. I could go to a local Chinese joint and get twice as much for the same or less and it would be equally as good at a couple of joints. Shaggy dog roll did not float my boat. It was unlike any sushi roll I've had and had an odd yet distinct flavor I just couldn't put my finger on. I did not enjoy it. I normally don't put any soy sauce on my sushi... had to dip these pieces to get the roll where I could eat it. A quick bite after work. Had the pork dumpling (panned fried) to start and a glass of their house Chardonnay. The wine was surprising good for the price, I would recommend it. The pork dumpling were perfectly cooked and with the sauce it complemented it perfectly . It had a small kick to it that countered the tenderness of the pork dumpling. I would definitely have his again Also had the naked roll with avocado (they run out of mango). This is why the 4 stars, even though the roll itself was good it was a good balance between the salmon/tuna and spicy sauce the idea of the sweetness of the mango would of been better. If they would have mango I might try it again I also really enjoyed their version on the crunchy roll, even though it might not be on top list of crunchy rolls it's a pretty good interpretation and more like a tempura roll. Food was delicious!! I'm originally from Spring, but live in NYC now. Whenever I come home, I'm always searching for quality Asian food. I craved pho yesterday, saw this place, and decided to give it a try. The interior is clean and music is nice. Service was prompt and attentive, but the restaurant was slow because it was around 3 p.m. We had the seaweed salad, which was good, but not the best I've ever had. Had the Rakuu pho, which was superb! You can always tell a good pho based on the broth alone (before adding sauce), and it certainly passed the test. The meat was also good!
