Looks like I'm going to be the dissenting voice here. I've stopped by a couple of times to get my post lunch sugar fix and have been completely disappointed each time. Rainbow Donuts is located in a small strip mall on South Street and Pioneer Blvd with lots of parking in front. At around 2 p.m. the place has always been empty save the old gentleman behind the counter. I've tried their regular, glazed, chocolate iced, cream filled and cake based donuts along with their chocolate bars over a period of time. Price wise these are pretty cheap at 85c a pop. The reason for the one star is that all the donuts that I have got have been stale. Over five visits not once did I get produce that was even remotely fresh. I'm not sure if this is related to the timing of my visit, but there is nothing fresh available in the afternoons. Some donuts like the cream filled ones seemed to have been a couple of days old as the cream filling had started to turn sour. The cake based ones seemed to be weeks old as they had the dry crumbly texture that you get when cake dries out. The regular, glazed and chocolate iced donuts were simply one of the worst donuts that I've had. My recommendation for donuts around Cerritos would be B&B Donuts on Artesia and Norwalk in the same plaza that houses Cho Dang Tofu house which I would recommend over Rainbow donuts any day. read more

Blueberry Cake Donuts - ZOMG so yummy. The perfect love child between a blueberry muffin and a glazed donut. You really get a lot of blueberries in each bite and the cake is moist with just the right amount of glaze. Jalapeno Ham & Cheese Croissant - flakey croissant dough filled with the right amount of swiss cheese and ham. The jalapeno gives this croissant a some nice heat, and I love heat. Overall the donuts are fresh and the glaze sets perfectly, you don't go home with a box of donuts and find all the glaze has come off your donuts and melded together into one giant blob. PLUS - open 24hs which is RARE in the ultra conservative suburb of Cerritos. Yay, diabetes whenever I want it. read more

Finally, I can get blueberry donuts nearby without having to wait for an hour, deal with annoying crowds, or unfriendly owners. Yes, I'm giving the middle finger to M&M. This place isn't anything fancy, but then again, most donut shops aren't. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between this place and M&M. The latter was maybe slightly better only because I happen to get them fresh. I will be back here in the morning to see how they taste when they're fresh. The lady at the shop told me they make fresh donuts three times a day - 7am, 11pm, and the other I forget. I also tried the tiger tails. They were still very soft even though they weren't fresh at the time I got them. I'm just not a big fan of tiger tails so I can't really say much. I think for someone that likes these, they are probably pretty damn good. This place is open 24 hours so you never have to wait in long lines for blueberry donuts. My one of my local donut shops that I love to visit when I want a sweet late night treat. The lady that runs it during the evening is really nice and sweet. The donuts there are solid normal donuts that you can find anywhere. So the customer service is what stands out. There are lots of choices of drinks and snacks to choose from. Along with the baked goods, I'm sure you'll find what you need to get you moving through the morning or to satisfy you late night craving. I believe she even does lotto. There are a coupe of tables to sit and enjoy your snack. Although I rarely see anyone there sitting. Lots of people and even happen in this plaza so you see some people hanging outside talking or smoking/vaping. Pretty safe area. Haven't heard of anything dangerous in a very long time here so it's settled down quite a lot. Share parking with other businesses so there should be plenty of space to park. This is basically a 3 star place, nothing out of the ordinary. I just really like the lady/owner that I always see. Very nice a helpful. I usually visit at night, so I'm not sure of how busy it get through the day. read more

Rainbow donuts lives up to the rainbow name as the place has an assortment of color ful donuts. However, customer service was mediocre as I felt very rushed on a Wednesday morning by the server while I was trying to pick my dozen and there was only one other person there being served besides me. It was my first time there and I couldn't decide between which matcha donut I wanted to complete my dozen so i can bring it in to work. I don't usually like donuts, but since this place had matcha I thought I would try it and it was ok not too sweet jus right. People at the office loved it! If you like Matcha this is the place to try it out! I jus wished the person be hind the counter was a bit livelier and i can understand its early as I went at 6am, but a good morning wouldn't hurt. Small donut shop, saw their matcha promotion so I ended up stopping by! It is easy to miss! The "Rainbow" is kind of small compared to the rest so look for donut deli! It is in the middle of the building of shops and such. The workers are REALLY nice. very friendly, which i really appreciate. oddly enough, especially in donut shops like these because it makes you wanna actually have a nice day after getting a morning (or afternoon, or evening) donut! I ended up getting the Matcha donut with oreos on top. Me personally, I liked the parts of the donuts that had simple oreo crumbs and not the huge chunks better. You can actually taste the matcha and its delicious! But yeah, they are generous with the topping for it so its a good thing! Next time I might try their coconut one. In general it was pretty good, nice sweet and fluffy. The other one I got was the blueberry. I can't really comment on it because I sort of forgot I had it and didnt eat it till the next day. My wife and I were craving donuts after our dinner and we didn't want to drive far. At first we were skeptical because usually donut shops that are 24 hours have low stock of what we want and have less variety. This place was no exception but we decided to stay and order donuts anyways. When we first entered, the first thing I noticed was how dirty the floors were. There was only one guy manning the shop and he was rude. He kept rushing us to pick donuts and that was annoying my wife. We took our time to pick because we were the only ones at the donut shop and was confused on why he was rushing us. All of the donuts were over glazed and sugary. A dozen cost $9 and he threw in an extra one for free. Overall, if you are craving donuts and don't care where you get it go here. I was picking up boba next door and my little one wanted a donut. So, I walked in. I didn't have cash on me and was going to use my credit card. My family had a small business and I know CC is not preferred especially for small sums. I felt really bad so I picked up extra donuts and asked for some scratchers (which I NEVER buy). Went there twice in the last week. I did not try the blueberry donuts since I'm not much for donuts (Parents had a donut shop for 23 years. I practically lived there as a kid) but I needed breakfast on the go. I tried the ham & cheese croissant, the jalapeno ham & cheese croissant, and the egg croissant (on a tray atop the donut display), a regular coffee, and a "gourmet" hazelnut coffee. Aside from the coffees, all of the above items contained a white liquid "cheese" I really wish wasn't there. However, the 2 types of ham & cheese croissants were fine. They were what you'd expect at a mom & pop's shop. The coffees were fine but I preferred the gourmet coffee (located on the service counter) over the regular brewed coffee. The breakfast egg croissant was decent and I'd go back for it if I were in a bind for a quick morning bite. The actual place looks like it has an interior created circa 1970's and it has a modest ATM machine and a wall of lottery fame, on which the winning lottery tickets sold there have been posted. The latter is a pretty interesting add. Had a horrible experience here this morning with my family. It was our first donut outing in a long while and our first time visiting this shop. We were generally confused about pricing because we wanted to try the specialty donuts and also the regular donuts which were part of the dozen special. I am sure there was miscommunication and misunderstanding abput pricing on both our ends. But, what was beyond irking was the older lady (probably owner?) basically yelling at me, that I am asking the same question three times. Really? I can't ask how I am being charged? I can't ask for clarification when the explanation doesn't make sense? Ultimately, a different person working there helped us and we found out the lady overcharged us by "accidentally" pressing some lottery button on the cash register. While they refunded that money back to us, it was a distasteful experience. I note that I did not receive a single apology from anyone working there; not even a sorry for the "accidental" overcharge. I didn't come here looking for top notch customer service but it would be nice to afford your customers a basic level of respect. read more

So while eating his croissant, he thought it tasted a little wierd, but too hungry to care, and after taking another three more bites, he looked down and saw MAGGOTS INSIDE his ham and cheese!!! Me and the nice Asian man who runs this establishment have something of an understanding. When I walk in, the little door bell chimes, which prompts him to emerge from the back. I say: "One blueberry donut"--"ONLY WUN?" he asks/shouts. I think about about it for a second. Then another second. Then I just sigh and say, "Alright, give me half a dozen." Sometimes, he'll throw in an extra for free, which makes seven donuts. And I will eat them ALL. And then cry--mixed tears of joy/self-hate. Curse you, donut man. How do you see through my pretenses? How do you know me so well!!!???? To be honest, I haven't really bothered with any other item, because the blueberry donut is just that good. There's nothing particularly special about it, except it's just a darn good, tasty donut: not too sweet, nice chewy, cakey texture, and a slight crisp from the glaze. I visited Rainbow Donuts earlier this week for the first time because I had a case of insomnia and figured I might as well go to work early. I did a quick Yelp search and found that Rainbow Donuts was open at 4am, so I figured I swing by on the way to work and grab a blueberry donut and a coffee. According to the receipt that I received, I was only customer #2 for the day--customer #1 was still seated in the shop and looked a bit of a weirdo. Nonetheless, I wasn't deterred and the owner yelled a greeting to me as he was re-racking a fresh batch of donuts in the back. I went ahead and ordered a blueberry donut hot off the fryer along with a medium coffee. I glanced over to the left of the register, and noticed a big laughing golden Buddha statue. I couldn't help but think that many people who come to donut shops may, over time, take on the shape of that laughing Buddha. The owner first served up the coffee. The regular coffee, unfortunately was standard and looked like the same crappy coffee I get at work. The blueberry donut, however, was really good. The texture was soft and pretty much melts as you bite into it. The owner didn't overdo it with the glazing, so it provided enough sweetness, but relied mainly on the blueberries themselves to provide most of the sugariness. If you alternate bites of blueberry donut with the standard Farmer Brothers coffee, then it elevates the standard coffee by having it serve as a direct contract to the sugary blueberry flavor. I had to take the donut and coffee back into my car in the parking lot and enjoy them there, since I didn't want to be in the shop with Customer #1 there quietly talking to himself and for some unexplained reason eating KFC leftovers at 4am at a non-KFC establishment. Now, I'm a lifelong fan of the hallowed Goody's Donut in Cerritos, but even my go-to donut shop doesn't make a mean blueberry donut like Rainbow does. And, though it may not have originated it or started the blueberry donut craze (I would attribute that to M&M Donuts in Anaheim), for the convenience of being in Cerritos and close to the 605 freeway, Rainbow is a great value for people in the area. My only suggestion is that they consider removing the credit card surcharge here. It's the one deterrent that prevents me from visiting this, and many other privately owned, donut shops, as more and more people carry less and less cash. read more

Ok. I woke up this morning and decided to order donuts instead of going to our local shop right up the street. This place had great reviews and awesome looking donuts so I placed my order. I ordered 17 donuts of various kinds for my family and the order arrived on time and was left at my door as I asked. No fault on Postmates for what happened here I'd like to point out. I opened the box, and there are 8 donuts in there. 8 freaking donuts out of 17!! And to top this shit off, THEY WEREN'T WHAT I ORDERED!! So, I called them. This rude AF broad answers and tells me, after I explained the situation, that the ones I ordered were out so they just threw whatever in the box. I told her that is not ok and not what she should have done and to have someone bring my remaining order or refund the FORTY SEVEN dollars they charged me. She straight said no told me the lady who put the donuts in the box left and hung up on me. I called back and they wouldn't answer. I'm assuming caller ID is a feature on their phone I called from a different number and they surprised the heck out of me and answered. Sarcasm. I repeated my issue and told her I'd at least like to get the nine I was owed and of which I like the flavor and this (insert exploitive here) literally told me "next time come in and pick and count them yourself", and hung up on me again. I called my bank to stop charges and the dude I spoke with used to work in the restaurant industry and was literally speechless. I thought I'd lost connection but he just didn't know what to say. The attitude alone is grounds for an employee being fired. And she should be fired immediately. I'll never go here and I'll tell everyone I know and then some how they treat their paying customers. I am soon to file a claim once charges post and get my money back. Not only that but they sent donuts with nuts in them which my son is deathly allergic to and the whopping eight we got were all then contaminated which in turn means, I'm contacting a lawyer. Not only THAT, YES!! THERE'S MORE, this bitch went back into their system, without authorization, behind my back, and charged me AGAIN!!!! ten more dollars. 57 flipping bucks for 8 donuts I didn't order that could kill my kid. Fuck this place. I would go in but I don't need to catch a charge for some donuts. she should be very happy I handled this diplomatically. I'll let you know how the lawsuit plays out. read more

My daughter wanted some designer donuts for her birthday party and we called and spoke to AL, he was the son of the owner here. He was so open to all of Our ideas and concepts and we decided to buy the donuts for him. He made peanut butter and jelly donuts, matcha green tea donuts, Oreo donuts, Smores donuts, Blueberry surprise donuts and Macon and bacon. We served it as a donut cake and it was delicious! This is THE place for wedding favors and or donut favors! They were so accommodating and so nice... Definitely a place for customized donuts. See some pics. read more

Not a HUGE fan of the blueberry doughnut, but I decided to try em here after having them fresh at M&M This place, like many others pretty much use the same doughnut mix. The only reason why people lean towards M&M more is because they are 'fresh out the fryer' making them warm and bursting with oil the minute you sink your teeth into one. Like enjoy the blueberry doughnuts here better for the reason that they have had time to sit and set after being fried and all the excess oil and drip and dry leaving a cake doughnut CAKEY (as a cake doughnut should be) and not mushy with oil. Unfortunately the blueberries in these doughnuts aren't fresh blueberries, but instead packed with artificial blueberry flavor. OVERALL: This would probably be my place to go if I ever decided to have one of these again. Like I always say, YOU WON'T KNOW UNLESS YOU TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!! read more

There's not much visual appeal to the shop. It's in the plaza around the corner from Guppy Teahouse and totally old school looking.. even dirty looking.. which the State of California Health Rating proclaims at level B. Makes me think love child of a plain donut and a blueberry bagel. [Took a real bite] Hmm.. actually pretty tasty... crunchy but super soft in the middle.. it's like they fried the donut twice for the extra crisp without drying out the middle.. not bad.. i'm liking it. The blueberry donut (is it doughnut or donut?) is pretty darn tasty. It's just sweet enough with a kick of blueberry fruit flavor. I like it when it's just warm enough to heat up the inside bread portion ~ speckled with blueberries.. and the soft crunch of the outside that is all too familiar with your old school doughnuts. It still can't be convinced that it's worth waiting at M&Ms for. But hey~ this little donut shop in Cerritos.. does a pretty good job of making them. They had plenty and yup~ a 5 second nuke will make it just perfect. If you want to see what all the fuss is about~ I recommend coming here. Pretty tasty.
