My daughter wanted some designer donuts for her birthday party and we called and spoke to AL, he was the son of the owner here. He was so open to all of Our ideas and concepts and we decided to buy the donuts for him. He made peanut butter and jelly donuts, matcha green tea donuts, Oreo donuts, Smores donuts, Blueberry surprise donuts and Macon and bacon. We served it as a donut cake and it was delicious! Annoyed by the crazy lines, weird hours, and aloof attitudes of the owners of M&M Donuts, I started looking around Yelp! for suggestions on a good Lakewood/Cerritos area substitute for blueberry donuts; I was led to Rainbow Donuts on more than one review. Alas, I was led astray... I came by on a random Friday afternoon. There was no chime at the door so I stood trying to get the attention of an employee (she didn't hear me because the radio was on full blast) for a full 5 minutes. I bought several of the glazed blueberry donuts, an apple crumb donut, a ham and cheese croissant, and a strawberry cream cheese croissant. (This totaled something around $8!) I was slightly skeptical of the donuts as they looks sort of dry, but I decided to give it two tries - 1) right away upon buying, 2) slightly heated up like on Yelp! reviewer suggested. Both times yielded in fails. The donut was dry (and that made it very difficult to swallow the rich dough) and had an overwhelming burnt taste and smell to it. Heating the donuts up made the glaze melt, which made the donut a little more moist, but definitely didn't improve the burnt taste/smell. The apple crumb was dry and pretty unremarkable. Both the croissants were good. The outside was flaky and buttery. The fillings were delicious. However, I wouldn't go out of my way just to have these croissants as similar may be found in donut shops all about. Sadly, there was no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. read more

My sister ordered donuts from here for my Baby Shower and they were amazing! The customer service was outstanding, the donuts looked and tasted incredible. The specialty donuts are worth the splurge. Apparently I missed out on the blueberry donut craze of 2010? Such a random yelp find! I typed in the words "blueberry" one day (I love blueberry anything) and the first thing that popped up was blueberry donuts. I didn't get a chance to try them till I stopped by Rainbow donuts on the way to dinner. I'm getting my dessert a little early. =) Blueberry donuts are 85 cents each, $4.50 for half a dozen and $8 for a dozen. It seems really popular here, since two racks were loaded with them. I didn't have the opportunity to ask the lady if they can be made fresh while I waited, or when their next baking times were. And...they were delicious! I ate one a few hours after I bought them and another one the morning after and it still tastes pretty fresh. Oh and they taste DIVINE when you warm them up in the toaster oven. The glaze is light, not too sugary. The outside is crispy and the inside is soft like moist cake. Blueberries fill your every bite. Oh me like. It is definitely a bad thing for my waistline that this place is open 24 hours. =P read more

Being a fatty that I am, I went to Rainbow Donuts to get some dessert after having dinner in the area. I picked up 3 blueberry donuts after hearing from a friend that they were damn good. It was sooooo fresh! The outside was nice and crisp with a soft cakey inside. Yes I came here for dessert, but I don't really like super sweet things. I usually only take a few bites of sweet stuff. I will definitely be coming back here for these reasons: 1.) the polite old man working behind the counter just was so friendly, and nice to everyone that walked in. (It was 12 midnight, and he was very cheery) 2.) OPEN 24 HOURS! 'Nuff said about that. Late night cravings will be satisfied. 3.) there's plenty of donuts freshly made on display. You know how you can tell when they've been sitting for a while. Ok. I woke up this morning and decided to order donuts instead of going to our local shop right up the street. This place had great reviews and awesome looking donuts so I placed my order. I ordered 17 donuts of various kinds for my family and the order arrived on time and was left at my door as I asked. No fault on Postmates for what happened here I'd like to point out. I opened the box, and there are 8 donuts in there. 8 freaking donuts out of 17!! And to top this shit off, THEY WEREN'T WHAT I ORDERED!! So, I called them. This rude AF broad answers and tells me, after I explained the situation, that the ones I ordered were out so they just threw whatever in the box. I told her that is not ok and not what she should have done and to have someone bring my remaining order or refund the FORTY SEVEN dollars they charged me. She straight said no told me the lady who put the donuts in the box left and hung up on me. I called back and they wouldn't answer. I'm assuming caller ID is a feature on their phone I called from a different number and they surprised the heck out of me and answered. Sarcasm. I repeated my issue and told her I'd at least like to get the nine I was owed and of which I like the flavor and this (insert exploitive here) literally told me "next time come in and pick and count them yourself", and hung up on me again. I called my bank to stop charges and the dude I spoke with used to work in the restaurant industry and was literally speechless. I thought I'd lost connection but he just didn't know what to say. The attitude alone is grounds for an employee being fired. And she should be fired immediately. I'll never go here and I'll tell everyone I know and then some how they treat their paying customers. I am soon to file a claim once charges post and get my money back. Not only that but they sent donuts with nuts in them which my son is deathly allergic to and the whopping eight we got were all then contaminated which in turn means, I'm contacting a lawyer. Not only THAT, YES!! THERE'S MORE, this bitch went back into their system, without authorization, behind my back, and charged me AGAIN!!!! ten more dollars. 57 flipping bucks for 8 donuts I didn't order that could kill my kid. Two words, BLUEBERRY DONUTS. I recently discovered Rainbow Donuts's blueberry donuts. They are amazing! They are soft and cakey with a little tiny bit of crunch from being fried. The donuts are glazed two different ways: regular glaze (like a glazed donut) and blueberry glaze (my favorite!). I've bought half a dozen on two occasions at a very good price. The best thing is that my supply of donuts lasted my about three days, and after microwaving them for 10 seconds, they taste like they were just made. I enjoy my blueberry donuts with a cup of milk and dunk them into the milk like an oreo cookie... so delicious! I am definitely coming back here again for multiple reasons: 1) It's near my house 2) Service is GREAT! (An asian lady owns the shop and is always super nice!) 3) Cheap 4) I don't have to wait two hours in line (like M&M donuts in Anaheim... and the donuts taste just as good!). Best donut place in cerritos. -Location is great -Donuts idc as long as theyre good and edible and they follow the rules & regulations in the food industry, they have an A+ rating. It's cake-y with a bit of a crunch all thanks to a glaze that envelopes fruity goodness. Not too sweet which makes it perfect. I prefer it fresh but a day later and a zap in the microwave does make it a tad tastier... if that is even possible. My bf and I went with his daughter to another donut shop down the street which he stated had the best donuts when he was growing up prior to our visit here, and we both almost spit out our donuts. It absolutely tastes the same, and you wait around 3 seconds for the man to put some in a bag, and 6 seconds to pay. So you're waiting 10 seconds for blueberry donuts. The sprinkled frosted donut is also pretty good, just noting! Went there around 1am and there's no one there except the man that works there. And some random people getting donuts late at night. The inside looks 'blah' but it's a freaking donut store...what do you expect right? This is my stop for donuts, esp for blueberry ones. This is the place to go for a donut run. Even in the middle of the night- open 24 hours. Outside: The sign doesn't really say 'Rainbow Donuts'. There is a picture of a rainbow, and underneath, the word 'rainbow'. So I always knew it as 'Donut Deli', which is essentially the signage out front. Parking is a breeze. Service: - Great service. I always call in to see what's fresh, & the workers are nice enough to give info on what's coming out & what is fresh. - I've spoken to 3 different people: a lady, an older man, & a younger worker. All have been great about suggestions & giving me more than what I paid for. - Older man is funnier than I thought he'd be. Joking around, even in the middle of the night when some people would be bored or tired. Talked me into buying an extra donut, but really gave it to me for a quarter. - I was called back by the younger worker so he could give me a blueberry donut to try (said I wouldn't have room for the blueberry one and declined to buy it, & I guess as a 2nd thought, he decided just to give me one). - The lady gave me a sample of the cruller, which tasted kind of like those long Chinese breakfast 'donuts', but kind of soggy on the inside. It was dusted w/sugar, crunchy on the outside, and soft, almost soggy on the inside. It was really nice of them to be personable and willing to give samples. Donuts: - That blueberry one was great. I'm really happy the worker chased me w/a sample since now, I'm sure to get one every time I go. - Other donuts: solid. Nothing bad to say. The Matcha donut was very disappointing, it doesn't stand a chance when compared to Seaside Bakery in Newport Beach. The glaze donut had a weird citrusy flavor, not sure why. I was craving a breakfast burrito so I figured, why not stop here? It was my first time trying the burrito and it one of the tastiest breakfast burritos I've ever had. All of the ingredients were perfectly balanced. It's not like all of the other places where they fill the whole burrito up with just eggs and hash browns with a smudge of sausage. The 5 stars is for the Blueberry Donuts. It is a MUST TRY! Still tastes good even when it's not hot off the oven. The outside is slightly cripsy, but the inside is soft and fluffy. The best donuts I've ever had! The dough they use here is very high quality, cooked to perfection and fresh tasting with just right amount of oil and sugar. My go-to's are the apple fritters, chocolate bars, glazed twists and...oh heck! They're all good to me! Coffee too! Well, I always thought Krispy Kreme has the best tasting donut. I was wrong. Try the blueberry donut here. Is amazingly good. Crunchy outer crust, not too sweet and you can taste the blueberry every bite. Although is probably every bit as unhealthy as any other donuts. During blueberry season, my girlfriend really wanted to try blueberry donuts. She had looked up a place in Anaheim, M&Ms. However, we couldn't find a two hour gap(waiting time) in our schedule and hoped to find some place closer that offered blueberry donuts in less amount of time. We found out that Rainbow Donuts on South St. carried them. Exterior - Located in the shopping center shared with Guppy's and other small businesses. There is ample parking. Neon and lottery signs covers the front window. Interior - Small, but decent size if you're comparing to some Winchell's and Yum Yum Donuts. Upon entering, you will notice the menu in front of you, the beverage selections to your left, and chairs to the right. Customer Service - They are very friendly here. It's usual a variety of people working here, I guess because the shop is open 24 hours and they take shifts?. They always greet me upon entering. The last time I've came here, they gave me free donut holes with my order. :) Food - I've yet to try their donuts when they are fresh from the oven. But reheating some donuts in the microwave is not bad. I've tried their blueberry donuts and it was delicious. Also, I recommend their tiger tail, it is a long dough of sugary goodness. Overall - I'd recommend giving this place a shot. Not every donut shop offer blueberry donuts, so try it out here if you happen to be in the area. read more
