Based on my visit and initial experience, I thought I was going to rate Donuts Donuts a solid 4 stars, however, once I got home and tried the donuts, I had to knock off 1 star. Apple Fritter - From the outside, it looked crispy and not too oily. But once you bit into it, it was quite oily and I felt a little uncomfortable after taking a few bites. At first, my girlfriend said it didn't taste too oily, but once she had more, she agreed that it was too oily. Price: $2.95. Rated 2/5. Sugar Twist and Original Glazed - Both were a little too thick and bready. It did not have that original raised donut texture that's chewy, soft and fluffy. It tasted more like a thick piece of bread. See picture for reference. I was sad cause I love a good ol' ma and pop original glazed donut. Price: $1.55 for glazed and $1.70 for sugar twist. Rated 2/5. Large coffee - Nothing special but decent size for a decent price. Can't complain here. Price: $2.25 The store was clean and spacious. The workers were nice but like other reviews say, I did feel a little rushed when ordering. But I mean hey, what else are the workers supposed to do besides ask which donuts you want right? Don't come here expecting those fancy hipster donuts that cost about as much as a normal dozen would. We're talking chocolate iced chocolate cake donuts, apple fritters, chocolate bars, you get the gist of it. Not in the mood for sweet? Donuts Donuts has got you covered with croissant & bagel sandwiches of various kinds. Coffee's cheap, both in price & in quality, but serves it's purpose when dunking a glazed or old fashioned donut hot out of the fryer. Wednesday's special is BOGO Thai tea! I've mainly visited here before/after visiting Baskin Robbins, to pick up a Powerball and/or Mega Millions ticket. Hey, when the jackpot's reaching a billion dollars, it would be foolish not to let it ride. That's the closest I'll ever get to that kind of money, know what I'm sayin? I've lived just a few blocks away from this donut shop for years and have never gone in until today. It's probably a good thing otherwise I would be a human donut by now; a giant maple bar with arms and legs. The donuts here are great! The blueberry glazed donuts here are good but the service is shit. Not to mention the place has clearly not been updated since it was built. The three of us ordered iced coffees, we only got 2 which turned out for the better because the iced coffee is more like.... Coffee flavored syrup over ice with a splash of water. It was actually viscous and thick like simple syrup. I'm not really into becoming a diabetic so i asked for the guy behind the counter politely if he could dilute it. He said "too sweet??!" as if it was impossible for him to make an imperfect coffee. He said no other customers complained about the same thing. Clearly that's beside the point. He brings it back and it was maybe 3% less sweet. I said that it was still too sweet and he mumbles something. Finally he brings it back and even though it was still too sweet i just gave up and said it was fine. He had the nerve to suggest/joke that i sweeten my own coffee with the sugar on the counter next time. Sure bud. Like there will be a next time. I've been a semi-regular at Donuts Donuts for a couple of years now. It used to be my default stop after lunch for a couple of months till I managed to break the habit. Donuts Donuts is located in a tiny strip mall on south Street which always seems very crowded as their is an Elite Academy next door. It seems to be a small family run business and the person behind the counter has always been nice and patient with me. Of course its cash only considering the small ticket sizes of most of their sales. Over a period of time I've tried almost all the different types of donuts that they make and like all of them. I'm a big fan of their chocolate iced chocolate cake donuts that are cooked perfectly and have a pinch of cinnamon in the batter that elevates their taste exponentially. I feel that their cake donut's are the best in the Cerritos area which keeps pulling me in periodically. read more

They also serve coffee and supposedly have Wednesday specials with BOGO Thai tea. I went with the apple fritter and it was cooked perfectly. It had a good crunch to it. It's not just donuts anymore, and I'm so happy for the family that runs this little shop. I've chatted with the mother and one of the daughters on several occasions and they are so kind and sweet. This is my favorite donut store! I'm kind of over Krispy Kreme. Plus, the one in Cerritos closed too. I never really started coming here consistently until last summer. I love the maple (hee my name) bar and their strawberry croissant. Other than the donuts, they have coffee,tea, some fruit, and other drinks. The people that work there are wonderful. If you go late, like about when they're about to close, and they have some leftover donuts, they'll just slip some into your bag. Really nice of them. They're a privately owned store, so I feel extra good when I buy from there. They have a plasma TV. You can buy your lottery tickets there. It's a fun place to just chill, and eat some donuts. My family and I have been obsessed with this shop ever since we moved to this community a few years back. I've tried other donut shops in the area, but none have come close to the quality and price combo that Donuts Donuts provides. The only drawback is that they are a cash-only establishment, but I can deal with hitting up the ATM for them (something I'm not usually willing to do). Stopped by this morning for donuts and coffee. The guy behind counter greeted me ok but when I asked for 1/2 dozen donuts he immediately wanted to knew what kind. I felt very rushed; than you can't even put your own creamer in the coffee. Creamer is also behind counter and you have to tell employee when to stop. In my opinion, this is the best donut shop in cerritos. The store is very clean and my parents have known the owner (Larry) for a pretty long time, and he's very nice as well. One thing I like about the place is that their thai tea is only $2 and every wednesday they have buy one get one free for thai tea. Compared to other donut shops, they sell thai tea for around $3.50.
