Now I see why so many people extolled the virtues of Old Ferry Donut's Butter Pistachio filled donut. It's all about that pistachio cream filling. Sweet, but not too sweet, I relished every bite of this sumptuous sugary treat. Service was good. Ordering is via the kiosks or at the register. The orange color scheme gives the place an old time donut shop vibe. Parking is located at the Cerritos Lincoln Station shopping center, with Old Ferry Donut located in-between Leslie's Pool Supplies & Code Ninjas. Scrumptious! Fancy donuts similar to sidecar and voodoo donuts. Picked up a chocolate donut for dessert. The donuts were fancy - which aren't really my thing, but figure to try out a new spot. Was served immediately - the staff were friendly. I grabbed the donut box and went home to try it. Unfortunately, the donut was a bit dry for me. I'm not usually a fancy donut guy, but I have been known to enjoy the occasional Sidecar donut when I have the opportunity and the lines aren't too long. I often prefer my donuts in a pink box from a shop adjacent to a liquor store, but I thought I'd give Old Ferry Donut a shot. First, I'll note that the single staff member was friendly and attentive despite being the only person present when I arrived. I was impressed by the simple decor as well, though there wasn't any seating (which is fine, I always order donuts to go anyway). Now I realize that prices are generally high in this economy, but I'm still very willing to pay good money for great food. So when I paid over $11 for three donuts, I expected something more exceptional than what I got. I tried the plain glaze (priced at $2.95) and was disappointed that it didn't taste very fresh and not much better than one I could've paid 67¢ for. After trying the chocolate crunch and cinnamon sugar donuts as well, I'm convinced I would've done just as well buying boxed donuts from the local grocery store, putting some cereal in the blender, and sprinkling that on top to get the same result. In fact, I was disappointed enough that I drove to my usual donut spot and spent $9 for 6 donuts that I knew I'd enjoy. I've tried Old Ferry donuts a couple times now and have been satisfied each time. This place is located in a shopping center with plenty of parking! I think I can safely say that the Pistachio donut is my favorite so far. The filling is so light and airy and does not have that overwhelming artificial pistachio flavor. The choco donut was also very good. Every donut I've tried has been very moist and tastes fresh. I'd also add that the service is great. I stopped by Old Ferry Donut for a sweet treat, and I was not disappointed! The store offers an array of different gourmet donuts that all looked delicious. I came less than an hour before closing so a lot of flavors were sold out, but I was still able to snag the tiramisu and crème brûlée donuts. Both flavors were enjoyable but I'd say ordering the tiramisu is a MUST! This may have been one of the best donuts I've ever had (and that says a lot because I have a lot of donuts lol). They nailed the tiramisu flavor and it had everything I love about tiramisu but in donut form. The crème brûlée donut was good as well, but I wish the burnt sugar part had more of a crunch. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt for this one though because I literally ordered the last one and I'm assuming it was sitting for a bit at that point. Overall, I'd order both again and am interested in trying other flavors. I will say that the donuts are on the pricey side, but are worth it given the quality of them. The store itself is located in a large plaza with plenty of parking. There were some indoor seats and patio seats in case you want to enjoy your donuts fresh at the store. One of the food bloggers I follow recently posted a review about Old Ferry Donut and it looked and sounded interesting. While on my way down to OC, I stopped by this location in Cerritos and grabbed a few (2 boxes), There are a lot more flavors than what is listed on their website, possibly 10 more flavors that aren't on the website. They're not overly sweet and the flavoring is pretty much on point. The peanut butter and jelly is one of my favorites. The donut itself is moist and fluffy. The donuts are large; we enjoy splitting two donuts to get two flavors each. From your first bite, the taste is elevated by quality ingredients and deep yet not over-powering flavor. Be ye warned: Old Ferry may ruin run-of-the-mill donuts for you and demand all of your treat attention. Old Ferry features many unique donut flavors (e.g. Butter Pistachio, Mango, Matcha, Lemon Poppyseed). The Butter Pistachio is a perfect trifecta of taste: the complimentary combination of butter and pistachio flavor, the delicious cream filling, and the crumbly topping texture. Friends have been raving about this place so I had to give it a try. When I walked in I was underwhelmed as the presentation of the donuts in the case weren't that enticing. I was already there so I committed to trying them. The cashier was friendly and greeted us as we walked in. They had a special for 20% off half a dozen. I can't pass up a deal so I selected 6 donuts for me and my family to try: pistachio cream, cream cheese, crème brûlée, Boston cream, chocolate hazelnut, and mango. Don't let looks fool you. They didn't entice me at first but when I bit into the pistachio donut I was very impressed. The bread was so soft. I'm not sure if they fry them or not but the donuts were not oily at all to the point where it seemed to be baked and not fried like traditional donuts. The flavors I selected were okay. I was more amazed at the texture of the donuts which made it satisfying to eat. The pistachio was by far the best flavor of all the ones I've chosen. I would come back just for that one donut. Noticed this place replaced the last Korean donut shop that used to be here, I believe? My top pick is the tirasmisu! All of them are good in my opinion, a bit pricey but they're definitely higher end donuts so they match the typical bakery pastry price point. They're more fluffy than your average donut, more cake-like in texture. The donuts are soft and fluffy. I found the coconut overly sweet, and the butter pistachio was good but not my favorite. It had a slight saltiness to balance out the sweetness of it, but for whatever reason I did vibe with this donut much. Felt the tiramisu with its chocolate, cocoa, and cream flavorings blended together very well. Creme brulee was also good, but not the best creme brulee donut I've ever had. The service was really great and fast! The lady who boxed our donuts was really nice and her energy was infectious! I really, really want to come back and take advantage of their $7 for 4 donut deal, but it only applies after 8pm, so I'll be back for that!! These donuts are pricey but fall in line with what you pay at other "gourmet" donut shops. This is not the kind of donut place where you'd get an old fashioned and a maple bar. This is where you get the fancy stuff. I purchased two donuts from a selection of over a dozen choices. I picked Choco Fudge and Tiramisu. It was a weekday afternoon with no other customers present so my order was ready in a minute. There is a small counter inside but I took my order home to enjoy. The Choco Fudge was fantastic. The donut itself was soft and fresh while the gooey, fudgy-frosted top made it taste like I was eating a fudge brownie. It was delicious but messy; I looked like a 4-year-old with a chocolate-smeared mouth when I was done. The Tiramisu had a sweet glaze with powdered cocoa on half of it. This one had an incredibly wonderful mascarpone filling. The glaze apparently was suppose to be coffee flavor but tasted more like maple probably because of the sweetness. 4.5 rounded up for donutty deliciousness. read more

This one only had about three cake donut flavors and maybe ten or so yeast donut flavors. No other styles (old fashioned, crullers, etc.) We chose the coconut glaze yeast donut with coconut shreds. Amazing! The dough was so light and airy and we were surprised by the whipped filling inside. We were not aware it was a filled donut, cream cheese from the taste of it, but with the texture of a nice whipped cream. It was not overly sweet either. Almost perfect. My only complaint is that I wish it had a stronger coconut flavor. Shop itself is cute. Small but clean. Warm and cozy. Our single donut came to us nicely packaged in a cute personal sized box and the lady who helped us was very sweet. My friend felt the donut was pricey (like just over $5). The donut shop has a couple of small cafe tables outside, but there's no seating inside, so keep that in mind if you plan to eat there. The donut selection has enough variety and they all looked so good. We ordered six donuts: Butter Pistachio, Tiramisu, Milk Cream, Choco Fudge, Raspberry, and Coconut. My favorites were the Butter Pistachio and Coconut, both of which are filled donuts. Like others have mentioned in their reviews, the donuts are quite pricey - we paid almost $30 for six donuts. Ordering is easy, you can order at the counter or at the self-serve kiosks. They have all the usual flavors. Happy to try it - helped by a friendly lady out front who also asked about nut allergies - ( very helpful to prevent anaphylaxis!!!) as the other gentleman placed the random box together.
