5 stars for the experience, service, and hospitality. I had no idea what I was getting myself into other than a cultural experience. I was down the street at Curry Lounge for dinner and my friend wanted me to have the ultimate cultural experience. He told me to order Meeta Paan. I was under the impression I was having dessert. This was not that. I'm Mexican, this was wild! I took one bite, tried to swallow it and puked. I tried so hard to hold it down. This flavor profile was nuts! I did enjoy everything about What-A-Paan, the man helping me at the counter was watching his soap opera & assembling the Paan, he was very happy and kind, complimented my dimples--he said saffron was the best flavor, I trusted whatever he was doing. I ordered 3 pieces to take home and share with my family So basically we still have 3 pieces left. I know this is very traditional and has medicinal properties--although this was not something I'd likely try again I am very thankful for the experience. Guy behind the counter is extremely rude Not a pleasant experience and also felt super rushed while looking around at the different products. Another odd thing was I went there for cigarettes and the shop owner refused to sell them to me when they were clearly behind the counter and another customer just bought them . Wasn't in search for pot, paan is what I got. Paan is an Indian post-meal mouth freshener & digestif. Paan comes in many variations, from salty to herbal, and is used in Hindu ceremonies. Made from the betel leaf, I wanted to expand my culinary profile & give paan a try. I've seen betel nut/leaf featured on the Travel Channel & other shows. Known for it's intoxicating effects (some say similar to a dram of whiskey), my research has led me to believing betel nut/leaf's intoxication occurs only when combined with slaked lime, for the absorption of the alkaloid stimulants. Plus, it causes the red staining of teeth. Unfortunately, the combination is carcinogenic, leading to tumors, especially oral. The man tending the store, the paan wala (paan maker), greeted me as I walked in. Assuming I might feel an energy boost from the betel leaf, similar to coca leaf, I actually felt a bit tired. Not a treat I expect to desire often, I am intrigued in trying other types of paan. A great alternative to the other paan stores in the area. Run by a very nice, accommodating man that will help you when others in the area won't due to business hours. Paan here is not as fancy as other places, but is good and reasonably priced. He carries a unique selection of other products, including some unusual vintage incense. read more

I would give them zero star if I could! Booked what_a_paan for our baby shower event almost 2 months in advance and paid $100 deposit immediately after talking to owner for booking our dates. No communication from owner whatsoever after that. So we called the owner 2 days before the event to confirm the date and availability. He said all good and we were all set for event. Suddenly on the day of event in the morning the owner messages us that his paan making person is sick and he was hoping that he will be alright by today but since he is not the owner just refunded our $100. We tried to call him multiple time but no response. If you are booking your event with them just keep in mind they don't have any backup plans for such event which seemed very unprofessional at their part. They won't hesitate to cancel last minute without thinking about your party. Very unsatisfactory experience. I will be very hesitant to book this guys. They have multiple Instagram handle..
