The King Prawn

A long time since my last review of Raglans and a lot has changed. Thanks to construction outside along Lonsdale there is, during the Summer, a lot more seatings. I've also found the service inside to be delightful, fast and the food is outstanding. This is based purely upon Brunch service. I leave the gym at 10 AM on Friday and choose between a number of great brunch places. While a few have faltered, Raglans remains strong. They have creative options in comparison and the quality is top notch.

+.5 for service I visited Raglans for my first night in Vancouver, as I arrived late night and it was the only affordable place open at that time within walking distance of my hotel. The interior of this restaurant is quite dark, as there was minimal lighting inside. The wall paintings looked like I was transported to some Hawaiian beach at night, and the seats reflected that as well. The seats were somewhat uncomfortable, but nothing too much of a concern. I ordered the cheeseburger poutine and a sangria. The sangria was huge! There was absolutely no way I can finish it, so I ended up sharing with my parents. The poutine was not bad, but the cheese used was not cheese curds, which I unfortunately thought it would come with considering the price I paid. The meal was definitely good (the fries, gravy, and pepperoni were all great), but the price factor was definitely a bit of a turn off. Service was great, and it was nice that the lady managed to start a decent conversation with us on where we came from and where we're planning to visit in the city.

My mom and I stopped in for brunch on Christmas Eve after we found out that another place was closed for the day. Even though this wasn't our original plan, I'm so glad it worked out this way because Raglans was awesome! The vibe is really cool, and decorated like a tiki hut. The menu is unique, and it was so difficult to decide! We both got a hash, which have the same ingredients.. except for the meat. My mom got the pulled pork, which had a really good flavor.. and I got the Locals Hash with bacon, sausage, and ham. Their homemade hollandaise sauce had such an awesome flavor! Their breakfast potatoes were nice and crispy. I also got a drink with passionfruit juice, crushed strawberries, and rum. We were just visiting Vancouver.. but I'm already craving it again. I'll definitely be back whenever I visit again!

Went to Raglans last night for some late night nibbles after the hockey game. What an adorable place. The waitress was very sweet and fast, and the food...mmm. We had the falafel bites with tzatziki, garden pesto quesadilla, and the roasted garlic and goat cheese. Amazingly delish and all made by the lone chef in the kitchen. It's a small place but most the tables were full. The wait time between ordering and eating was just right. Go check this place out if you find yourself in lower lonsdale and looking for quality eats.

"Could you be loovvvved? ... and beeeee loved." With fun tiki-style decor, Bob Marley and Jamaican backbeats setting a laidback 'reggae-tone', Raglans offers varieties of burgers, soft tacos, poutine and hefty big-bowled mixed drinks - a fun experience and good place to chill with friends along Lower Lonsdale on the North Shore. We had: - Tandoori Prawns ($9 / 8 pieces) - Tasty, good. - Breaded Coconut Prawns ($9) - Sweet, good. - Passionate Kiss with crushed strawberries, Jamaican rum. Yummy, but couldn`t taste much alcohol. - Tandoori Prawn Salad ($15) - My g/f said it was okay. - A big burrito and a thin-crust pizza The appys are small and mains, well-portioned with 'good' taste; it`s more about the atmosphere. It's one of the few places with a cool concept in North Van.

Biker RaggaMuffins (Pulled Pork Eggs Benny) with Pan Fries

A friend of mine discovered my love and passion for potatoes. So he took me to the beautiful north Vancouver to enjoy some brunch at Raglan's. The decor wasn't what I was expecting but it was a very chill and laid back atmosphere - tiki men, surfboards, colourful chalk drawings and bouncy booths. I ordered the Biker RaggaMuffins, which is a Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict. I was worried there wouldn't be enough meat on my plate but when my dish came out and I saw the generous helping of pulled pork, it set my fears ablaze. Every bite I took was a mouthful of super packed flavours of: tender BBQ pulled pork, gooey yolky pooched egg, chewy muffin and sweet, creamy hollandaise sauce. To top off this already delicious dish, the whole reason my friend brought me here: Double fried pan fries! The outside was a lovely golden colour of skin that left a beautiful crunch on your teeth but the insides were a hot fluffy nugget of yummy potato. Along with some ketchup (my must-have condiment) it was perfection! Overall, I was full to the brim with my meal and luckily Raglan's is next to Lonsdale Quay, so I was able to walk it off around the eclectic market and beautiful water and city views. Service was friendly and efficient. If I'm ever back in North Van, I'd definitely go back for more - especially to enjoy the outside patio once it's warmer too!

Honey ham Bennie

This place is one of the best brunch places I've been to in a long time I had the local hash and she had the honey jam Bennie Both were some of the best I had in town I always thought yolks had the best Bennie but this place blows it out of the water This is my new top brunch places in the city Very cozy laid back place and the hash I had was so full of bacon and sausage This place is so much better then Medina Save the hour line up and to Raglans instead

Garden - eggs Benedict

I don't have a lot to day about this place since I have been there for a quick lunch. I had a tasty garden eggs Benedict. The fries that comes in this dish was very good as well. I also tried the shrimp and avocado eggs Benedict and, of course, It couldn't taste bad. The overall menu has so many interesting options that I took awhile to choose mine. Most of them are far from being healthy, but it's worth trying them. Good service, quite location, fun decor.

YUM. That should be Raglan's slogan. Seriously, everything that comes out of that kitchen is fresh, smells exquisite and tastes DELISH. I couldn't count on one hand how many times I've had their cajun chicken burger (I can't count that well in general, either, but yenno.) Such a killer concept - super chill vibes, laid back atmosphere. Various cartoons from your childhood playing on the tv's, and during games the place is rolling with people. Some amazing beer options and specials as well. REAL PINT SIZED PINTS. Can you believe it? One of the rarities in Vancouver. Raglan's is my number one casual burger joint and beer sippin' place to dine at in North Van.

I've seen this cool little place on lower Lonsdale many times but tonight we finally had dinner here. The beachy/surf shop interior was neat and the restaurant only had about a dozen tables. I ordered a cheddar burger with yam chips (like yam fries, but chips). The burger was just ok but the yam fries were awesome. Our server Katie was super cute. That's all!

Their "brunch burger" is a major missed opportunity though... this really should have a fried egg on it. You could possibly add an egg from the ala carte section of the menu, but those cost $3, so you'd be looking at $27 for a burger and a half a cup of fried potatoes. That's insanely expensive. Currently the brunch burger has two small patties which have a tendency to overcook and become dry. My patties were well-done despite me asking for medium - don't even ask if the kitchen can't deliver. Not sure what makes that a brunch burger, but it would be much better if those two patties were combined into one, and a fried egg was added, while staying below a $24 price point expensive burgers in Vancouver. Other restaurants can do it.... Oh, the other disappointing thing is that the card reader defaults to tips at 18, 25, and 28%. Not cool - we already pay servers high wages in BC, tipping should be 10% if not eliminated altogether. 28%? No thanks!

The ambiance is so cute, staff were all so friendly and welcoming, and the food and cocktails were beyond delicious. Definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area and looking for a bite or a cocktail. Food/drink review: Paper planes: (5/5) Super well balanced and delicious. Red flag: (5/5)Obsessed. The flavor profile of this drink was perfect. I could've had 2 or 3 of these. Vodka pasta: (5/5) DELICIOUS. Not even being dramatic, some of the best pasta I've ever had. The sauce was so flavorful, creamy, and the noodles were well coated. Caesar salad: (5/5) This was so refreshing and delicious!! Only problem is I wish we got a bigger one lol. The dressing was so creamy and tangy, yumm! Shishito peppers: (4/5) Simple, but yummy. Cooked perfectly and not too spicy. Asparagus: (5/5) Surprisingly sooo delicious! I will mention I have celiac and asked for what I could safely have gluten free and was surprised they had so many options! I had the butter beef tataki, which I enjoyed but definitely better to share since it's a lot for one person. I also had the bang bang shrimp which is made with mochi flour and gives it an incredible crunch, I will mention I did not this this was spicy at all but I have a high tolerance so take that as you will. The star of the show here was absolutely the spicy vodka which I had with their gluten free noodle, I must admit that this is probably one of the best spicy vodka sauces I've ever had! Lastly, I had an affogato which they were able to do with decaf. Overall, the service was incredible. Every server and hostess was incredibly kind and attentive. They did everything they could to accommodate my celiac. Of course eat where you feel comfortable, what works for me may not for you. Lastly, the location is very vibey. The indoor and outdoor seating options are both awesome choices. They had great music playing that was not too loud and allowed patrons to be able to still chat. I loved the food so much I saved some in the fridge and trekked it through the airport all the way back to LA for my partner to try! Can't wait to be back.
