Also, the fries were equally as good as their schmurger in my opinion. They couldn't have seasoned the fries better too. Honestly, reminded me of those fries you only find at wing restaurants like Wingstop!

The burgers are not thick but this time I noticed the double burger (#2) is just a couple of bucks more than the the single patty in #1. Note to self for next time. Although the patty is thin, the flavors work. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and mustard. No ketchup, you add that yourself. The bun with sesame seeds always comes out piping hot. Sweet potato fries are crispy and not greasy. The combo comes with a drink for $10.99. That's a deal. I hope they stay in business another 13 years!

Our daughter was happy with her kids cheeseburger meal, and she did like the chocolate-caramel malt shake she scored at the end. A main reason that we're landing on three stars is the ice cream situation. One of us ordered a soft serve vanilla, and nobody told her that the machine was down, so what she got instead was a cup of half melted Blue Bell soup...are you kidding! Thanks for the prompt refund, but letting your customer know what the situation is in advance goes a long way. So, we tried it. Add a notch to the Dallas belt. We wish them well, but we won't be returning. There are better burgers in DFW.

The food is very messy and oily so make sure you bring some hand sanitizer. They packed in a lot of napkins as well. The burger itself was just alright, was a little cold for me though so not so sure how long it was waiting. The lettuce and tomato was a little on the soggy side. The meat itself was just alright. When I ate it, I did not experience the wow factor. I can not complain about the price however. Overall, I rather go to Inn-n-out, but I am glad I got one of the places to try in Dallas out of the way.

My wife and I visited R+D Kitchen at 8300 Preston Center Plaza, Dallas, TX 75225 on August 29, 2026 at 1:45 pm to celebrate my birthday. We were seated at table 5. The waitress assigned to us took our drink order--which was simply water--and then completely ignored us for more than 10 minutes. She actively served the tables on either side of us the entire time while we sat there with nothing. We are not certain racism played a role, but as a mixed Asian couple the selective neglect raised real concern. We got up and left, informing the hostess on the way out. Later we received a call from Bailey (apparently a manager on duty). She was apologetic, asked for our home address, and offered to send a $100 gift card so we might give them another chance. After two weeks with nothing in the mail, I called Bailey back. She remembered us, confirmed the address, and claimed the gift card might be delayed because of the Labor Day holiday. It has now been four weeks. No gift card has arrived. We had zero intention of returning after the initial service failure. What makes the whole episode especially distasteful is that Bailey's offer appears to have been empty. A promised $100 gift card that never materializes is worse than no offer at all. Fellow foodies: skip R+D Kitchen. There are far better places in Dallas that actually value their guests. read more

I recently visited R&D Kitchen with my husband and his family on our last night of vacation here in Dallas. We were hoping to have a nice last dinner on our visit with the family. Unfortunately, that was not how the evening turned out. First and foremost, I was taken aback by the inconsistency in enforcing their dress code. Despite my husband being told he needed to drive back home to change because of his tank top, we noticed several women wearing similar attire without any objections from the staff. Furthermore, there were individuals donning flip flops and backward hats, which are also against their supposed dress code. This lack of consistency was incredibly frustrating and left us feeling incredibly singled out. To make matters worse, the quality of the food fell below our expectations. We were R&D regulars when we lived here. But this time the food was a major disappointment. The yellowtail had an overpowering fishy taste and lacked the freshness we expected from a place of this caliber. Overall, our experience at R&D Kitchen was far from satisfactory. The inconsistency in enforcing their dress code and the underwhelming quality of the food were so disappointing. We will not be coming back here again. read more

I don't know what took me so long to get around to this place. I just went for the first time about 6 months ago. I've been back about 6 times since. It's a cool little space. It looks like an old school diner - but with an Aspen Lodge feel. Pine-wood planks on the ceiling, a bar that sits in the middle of the restaurant and you can sit all the way around it for cocktails or food. I love that they have round tables. This is so much more conducive to conversation when you have 6-8 people. At a rectangle table you can't hear what is being said at the other end of the table. With a round table, everyone is in on the conversation. Their patio is not very big - about 6-8 tables but they face a fantastic "infinity" fountain that faces the parking lot. The food is always spectacular and well plated. Anytime we have out-of-town guests we take them here and they are always impressed. I can't say enough good things about it! read more

R+D Kitchen in Dallas is my favorite restaurant! My family and I go here every Sunday together, and we practically know everyone who works here. They usually have a table saved for us, and we have the menu memorized, so we don't even bother looking at it. Everything we've tried is amazing--the tuna sandwich, Ding's crispy chicken sandwich, tuna sashimi, rainbow roll, California roll, spicy tuna roll, avocado roll, dip duo, and meatballs. The restaurant is always clean, and the desserts, especially the chocolate brownie sundae, are fantastic. The decor is really nice, especially for a new American restaurant, and the lighting adds to the overall experience. The music also enhances the atmosphere, but what everyone loves most about this restaurant is the koi pond outside. It really makes it iconic and is its signature feature. I've never had a bad experience here, and I guarantee you won't either. Five stars! read more

Brilliant experience, both from the climate, the assistance, and the food. While it tends to be hard to get a seat at a table, I suggest sitting at the bar- - you can talk with the barkeeps, and the seats are substantially more accessible. While it is somewhat expensive, I have been there around multiple times for unique events and dates, and it is consistently an extraordinary treat. The burger is a standout amongst others I've had in Dallas. The sushi is superb too. What has functioned admirably for us is simply requesting beverages and afterward sharing appetizers, such as the tabbouleh, if we don't need a full feast, yet at the same time go somewhere tasteful for a night out. Pursue at the bar is incredible. The greatest drawback is that they don't take Discover cards or Amex. read more

We have reached a point in the Covid-19 crisis that allows restaurants to reopen with certain restrictions. R+D kitchen is part of Hillstone Restaurant Group. A group that is currently doing the opposite of what is recommended by federal, state, and local experts. Not only are they NOT requiring masks to be worn by servers and back of house staff. But they are prohibiting mask and firing employees that want to wear them! This shows a lack of interest in basic hygiene and endangers public health. It is a shame they had good food, because a company that makes this choice and treats its employees in this abominable way during a crisis deserves to go out of business. read more

These piles of crap are actually forbidding the safety measures NECESSARY (which in many countries are mandatory) to prevent employees and patrons from spreading COVID-19. If I were an employee of this establishment, the owner would have some serious non-COVID safety concerns to worry about. I will not only laugh, but CHEER, when those employees unfortunate enough to work here get a similar idea! We made reservation for 6, when we came they said there was a miss understanding and they have 2 tables for all of us instead of one so we needed to sit next to each other but separate. The desert we got was great but other thank that, I am doubt if I'll be back to this restaurant, maybe it's the food my friend ordered that doesn't really impresses me . The limited menu here just kills me. No kids menu- no budging on this one. I always see families in there and I don't understand what they order for their kids. I love the Carnitas and Reubenesque sandwiches- but they are $14-15 and they come with nothing else. Then you have to pay another $6 for a side of fries. There was one a group across the restaurant that was so loud that my wife and I had some difficulty conversing, but I understand that is not something the restaurant can control. The restaurant was nearly full on a Friday when we entered about 7pm and when we left there was a long line of people waiting for a table, so I guess the restaurant is doing something right. What the restaurant can control is the food, and it was not up to par. We started with a chopped romaine salad, which is basically a Caesar. It had too many spoiled (wilted or brown) pieces of lettuce and was way overdressed. Quality control needs to improve. The kid wanted pasta as usual but their offering was with pesto and that was a no-go so Madeline had the kitchen do an off menu pasta with red sauce. I appreciate the gesture. The sauce was not acidic but the pasta was al dente and the kid was not used to that, so she did not really like it. Not the restaurant's fault on that one. The wife had the daily special, short rib stroganoff, and said it had no flavor. I did not try it but I assume the meat was not seasoned. I had the chicken parm with spaghetti from the "classics" portion of the menu. I was not impressed. I expected the spaghetti to be on the side but it was on top. The chicken had a strong burned flavor so I wondered if the spaghetti was on top to cover the burn? My pasta was al dente which was fine with me but overall the dish lacked flavor except for a burnt taste. I would not order it again. Overall, all our dishes missed the mark in one way or another. No one enjoyed their food. Maybe we ordered incorrectly, although you would think that ordering the daily special and a "classic" would be safe. Maybe the kitchen had an off night when it was so busy. The demand for a table was at variance with the quality of the food, which was average at best. At least the drinks were good.

I asked if they could remake it with regular oat milk instead, and the staff acted a little weird about it. They did remake it, but without the foam. Mind you, this was a $12 drink lol. Overall, I loved the atmosphere, but I definitely wouldn't recommend this particular drink. Maybe I'll come back another time and try something else, but this drink was not it.

The restaurant itself has a cozy, intimate feel and was fairly busy, but we were seated right away. Service was excellent from start to finish: warm, attentive, and professional. For the appetizer, we started with the foraged mushrooms, and this was probably my second favorite dish of the meal. The mushrooms were beautifully buttery and had a nice depth of flavor. My only criticism was the seasoning, the dish leaned noticeably salty, particularly when eaten on its own. A little more restraint with the salt would have let the natural earthiness of the mushrooms come through. For dinner, I'm gonna start with from my least fav: the Alaskan Wild Caught Halibut (which was the chef's daily special). Unfortunately, this was the biggest disappointment of the meal. The description sounded excellent...parmesan crust, leaf spinach, blistered heirloom tomatoes, and a lobster cognac beurre blanc. The execution fell short. The halibut was quite dry and lacked the clean flavor I expect from a well-prepared piece of fish. The beurre blanc had potential, but the sauce didn't have the freshness or brightness I was hoping for, and overall the dish felt somewhat flat. Given that this was the chef's special, I expected much more. The Poached Lobster & Truffle Pasta was better, but still not a standout. The combination of butter-poached lobster, capellini, lemon zest, English peas, Parmesan-Reggiano, capers, and Burgundy truffle sounds incredibly promising. There were definitely layers of flavor, but the dish itself felt drier than I expected. I was hoping for something more silky and cohesive, especially with the lobster and truffle. Instead, the individual elements didn't quite come together the way I expected. My clear favorite was the Prime Steak Fillet. The steak had the most satisfying flavor of everything we ordered, and I particularly enjoyed the accompanying tomato!!! It had a really nice balance of acidity and seasoning that complemented the steak beautifully. This was the one dish that really delivered for me. Overall, I really wanted to love this place. I came in with high expectations because of everything I'd heard, and while the service, atmosphere, and hospitality were all excellent, the food was inconsistent. The mushrooms and steak were enjoyable, but the two dinner entrées didn't quite hit the mark for me.

More crab than cake, which shows the quality. Wasn't a fan of the butter sauce, I thought it was too heavy for the delicate crab and would just ask for it plain with just some fresh lemon but the cake itself was perfect with jumbo lumps. Came with fries. Fries and dipping sauces were excellent but may ask for a different side option to keep it lighter. My daughter had the miso glazed salmon which came with potato puree with buttermilk....omg the only fault with it is that there wasn't nearly enough, and a jalapeno slaw, which was crispy and creamy with a little kick to it. Perfection! We also tried the side of creamed corn. Not sweet. Definitely savory and not too heavy, which was nice, with a little mild pepper kick. Desserts we took home because we were stuffed which were the carrot cake and the chocolate pie. We'll eat those tonight while watching tv. I have no doubt they will be great too. Definitely make a reservation. They get crowded. It does get noisy as well. Oh, and hopefully you'll have the best server Jemima. She was so sweet, personable, easy to chat with, and made our first time there a wonderful experience. Note to owners....she deserves a raise for being awesome!!! If there was a rating higher, I would give it. It is not often you go to a restaurant that hits all the marks at the same time but Bobbie's definitely did. We DEFINITELY will be back soon.
