I want to preface my remarks by stating that I said yes to doing the work. Guy arrived earlier than scheduled. I stated my quote and he explained it was wrong. He charged double because the front door lock had a dead bolt. My lock was broken so I felt it had to be replaced. Then he removed the lock , opened the replacement packaging and called for me. The new unit I purchased was a different configuration. He explained how when he installed it he had to drill holes in my door. again I felt like I had no choice. I asked if he could sell me a new door lock that would be the same configuration as the prior. He said no. Looking back I should have said goodbye. The reason I am posting is because not once did he offer yo call a supervisor to review the situation. I believe this company is more of a hub for independent people who use them to get work. It will cost over.$3000 to get this right. Apparently the grilled jokes will cause my door yo warp from moisture getting in. I have learned and expensive lesson. I looked up Garage Door Repair near Elmhurst and came across Quick Key. When I called I realized that they were actually a locksmith, not a dedicated garage door repair company. However, they do repair garage doors as well. They said they charge $45 for a service call plus parts. I had 1 roller on my garage door that came off the stem/bearing. I previously called another company that was $95 for the service call plus $10 for this particular part. So, naturally I went with Quick Key to save a little money. The technician, Abel was very courteous and knowledgeable. I kind of feel bad that he comes out to people's homes and then has to share entirely different info from what was shared on the phone. So, the real deal is that the MINIMUM service call is $119. So if your parts do not add up to that, well, that is what you pay anyways. Much different than thinking that I was going to spend $45 on a service call plus maybe $20 or so for the roller. Then because of the broken roller, it was suggested that I need the garage door to be balanced and greased, etc. The cost for this is $179. Not thrilled about explaining the problem on the phone yesterday, asking about cost and being given much different info. I would not have selected this company if I was aware of the REAL cost. So, if you need a garage door repair, search on Yelp and find someone that specializes in this. On a positive note, they came out the next day and the technician was able to complete the repair in less than 30 minutes. read more

I was extremely disappointed by this locksmith. My first use went fine... they never quoted me a price but sent someone to deal with the issue quickly. That technician was very quick and knowledgeable. I told him I was looking to get all my doors keyed the same way and he took a look at the locks and told me what I would need. He also said I would get a follow up call and a 10% discount on my next service since they had failed to give me a quote up front. It cost me $110 to take care of a lockout, which I thought was a bit expensive, but blamed myself for not asking ahead of time. The next use went badly from the onset. I did get a call as promised. This person collected some info from me and gave me a quote for what I needed. She specifically told me this quote included all hardware and services. I didn't have my schedule on me, and she offered to call me back the next day to set the appointment. She never called back. Several days later I decided to just call them. I talked to a different woman who said she had no record of the first conversation and quote. I reexplained everything and was given a new, different, quote. This made me nervous and I asked if when the technician came out there could be 'surprise' additional costs. This woman assured me that 'was not how this company did business' and the quote would be the price. The technician did not arrive during the two hour window we had been given, he was a half hour later than the end of the window even though my husband had been told repeatedly that he was on his way and would be there soon starting at the beginning of the window. When he arrived, he told my husband that hardware was not included in the quote I had been given and quoted a new price that was literally DOUBLE the price we had been told. I feel like they tried to take advantage of us and it makes me feel really bad because the first technician was so helpful and I thought this company would be honest. They need to get their system organized so that when you talk to someone it is fully noted, and if they are fair and give everyone the same price they wouldn't have any issue with different quotes contradicting one another. read more
