I contacted Ami at AD Garage Doors and Locks who came across to me as honest, well versed, and experienced. His technician Tom inspected the lock the next day and found that the mechanism had broken to open and close the deadbolt and had to be replaced. Because it was an older wood door and lock, Ami and Tom recommended replacing the original 5" Kwikset deadbolt with a 5" Schlage deadbolt latch that would fit the pre-drilled holes in the door. Tom was able to secure a large enough plate to cover the extra pre-drilled hole in the door and give us a functioning front door lock. AD Garage Doors and Locks completely met my expectations at a reasonable price and I highly recommend them in the Chicago area.

I picked up an older and quite rare car in Chicago and planned to drive it back home to NYC from Highland Park. I collect old cars and I already knew that keys for this car would be a challenge to find. The door locks were not working and I was worried about driving home and/or parking the car outside without being able to lock the car. I called a few local locksmiths who didn't want or know how to fix this. When I called Karl on the phone, he offered advice on how I might be able to fix this myself.
