These guys are great. I purchased a new Kwikset handleset for our front door that did not have the standard thumbpiece mechanism, instead the handle just slides down to open the door. I sent a text to the gentleman I spoke with over the phone and Mark and his team reviewed this brand new handle type and decided to assign their most seasoned residential locksmith to the job to ensure it was done correctly. AJ came out and did a great job of installing the new handleset so it was centered properly and level. He even took the time to adjust the door so it closed/sealed better than it had, and he completely cleaned up his work area. I have a nice set of office furniture that contains, among other things 3 file drawers. Im going to be moving soon and couldn't find the key for these 3 file drawers. I checked with Ace Hardware and they couldn't find anything to help me. They did recommend Action Lock & Key in Roselle. I have had them change locks on doors in my house. So I took one of the locks from the file drawer and asked for their help. The fellow behind the counter was more than helpful. He examined the lock and was able to make me not 1 but 3 keys for my furniture. The price was very affordable and the service was very quick. I highly recommend this place for any lock work you may want or need. I told the fellow as I was leaving that he is an angel because he bailed me out of a difficult situation very doable. This is the best and most honest and knowledgeable locksmith I've ever known in my 48 years on earth. I brought my master key for our church there, and he said that it was off, and that he could realign it, which he did. I brought in my old key, and he gave me a new realigned key that he made for no charge. I brought it back to our church building, and there was no more giggling and maneuvering the key anymore. It went in like butter. The door opened so easily. I went back and ordered a dozen more keys to replace the old ones! The price was incredibly reasonable, almost too low! They're so good here. Honestly. Our condo association uses them for keys and they are helpful, kind and knowledgable. The shop is clean and the hours are okay. The location can be hard to find if you're not familiar and I am pretty sure the GPS was wrong the last time I looked. But I've never had to have them redo a key. We've been visiting for quite a few years and I have no complaints. Bring cash though because unless you need a heck of a lot of keys, you're not going to meet their credit card minimum. read more

Had 3 locks re-keyed at my place of work. Third lock, Joe was able to fix it enough to use and replaced the insert part of the lock ($20), it is a door we never really use. Excellent customer service. Rare now-a-days. Did all locks without disturbing our working environment and was done quickly. Will be contacting them again, when we get new doors. We bought a townhome recently and found out that the sellers never gave us keys to the inside garage door. The knob was the original knob from the 70s, so it was too difficult to replace ourselves. I saw a recommendation for Action Lock & Key, so I called them up this morning. They said someone can be there between 11 and 1, and Mel called me and showed up a little before 1pm. Here's useful info. No clowning this time. Action Lock has done all the work at our house over time. I finally got around to having new pass-through handsets (door nobs) installed upstairs. Andy the owner asked me to look at how the bolts were seated. Would the doors need any chiseling out? Or were the mounts simple? Stupid me. I only looked at the two bathroom doors. The six other doors WOULD require chiseling. Vince and AJ showed up to do what should have been a 30 minute job. It took closer to two hours. They had every right to adjust the estimate upward. They didn't. I asked them to let me pay more. They were firm. No, it's not necessary. Vince is an artist with a chisel and razor blade. These were not cheap pine doors. And there was zero room for error. He had to hit hard--but with finesse. Feeling his way with each door. The work is flawless. read more

In September 2018 sold me and installed a $324 lock for the back door of my small business that only has 4 people using it M-F. Lock system jammed in May 2019 (not even 8 months later) without any damage done to lock in any way. Service person came out and fixed in 10 minutes without having to replace any parts. Informed me some parts may have needed to be tightened in lock. Then presented me with $155 bill ($90 labor + $65 service call). When I called Action's office in regards to the $155 for repair on a new lock less than 8 months old and talked to manager he said 'installations are only warranted by us for 3 months'. Told me I owe them the full $155. On a new lock less than 8 months old that had no damage done to it by us and/or no damage that they could find in the lock. Pretty bad customer service. read more

I have been coming to this place for about 26 years. Thankfully, I don't need its services more than once every few years. But whenever I do, I always think of Action Lock and Key first. My last experience is much like other visits. I have a little crisis, and one of the guys performs magic. My last visit, I had a key break off in half. Part of the key was stuck inside my motorcycle locking gas cap. The key was removed, and somehow, a new key was made from it. I was having trouble with my front door locks. The keys were not gliding into the key holes smoothly and I was having to force the keys. I figured I would need to have someone come look at the locks and have them repaired. I gave Action Lock & Key a call and spoke with Andy. I explained my situation and he gave me a few options. I took his information and started by giving the key holes a spray of Tri Flow. Surprisingly, my keys now glide right into the key holes. Problem solved! Andy helped me out while sacrificing the revenue he would have made on a service call. For that reason I will make sure that if/when I have any future lock and key issues I go to Action Lock & Key.
