I called Paul last week about adding a deadbolt smart lock to one of my doors after a "handyman" I hired to do this job and a few others seemed intimidated with this project. The job was a bit more complicated than just a regular deadbolt replacement since I wanted to keep my original deadbolt and then add a second lock to the door. I received a message saying it wasn't worth it for him to come due to the job not being worth the time based on what the warranty company was paying him, even though he had accepted the job. Using the leaf blower in the driveway and then it does. I thought maybe it had come unplugged, but no. Went to raise the garage door, but it would not work either. The circuit had tripped and I was completely locked out. I searched Yelp and found Paul. He said his response time was about one hour, but where was I going -- nowhere! I called A-Paul's Lock Service after several bad experiences with other locksmiths. First high mark...Paul answered my phone call. Second high mark...we discussed the issue and I sent him photos of the lock to help in his preparation. Third high mark - he provided a clear quote. We scheduled his visit for 11am the next morning. Fourth high mark - he updated me of his timing and arrived about 10 minutes late. Once he arrived he assessed the lock we, discussed final plan and he got to work. When additional issues arose he advised what he could do and what additional cost would be. He confirmed my agreement to any additional cost. Fifth high mark - he provided a receipt before I asked. Paul is an excellent locksmith and business man. For comparison - previously I called several of the other locksmiths in the area, got an answering service and then a technician comes out for what I requested as a quote. One technician got upset and rude when I advised him that I was looking for a quote and walked off. Another technician came and clearly was here to make money today regardless of what I needed done. My suspicion is that in these previous cases the phone goes to a call service that messages out to technicians working as independent contractors for multiple companies. They want to make their money today and do not care if I ever call that company back again. Shame on any company using that operating strategy. Thumbs up for good quality, efficiency and being on time! I need to have 5 keys changed, but originally I thought I only have 3 since one lock has a double key hole and I didn't thought about changing the key of my garage door. I started calling around this morning around 8:30. Paul told me that he can come in around 10-11 today or Monday; however, I don't want to take off work on Monday and have another appointment that I have to leave at 10:15 am today. Given my location, Paul said he can meet me at 9:30 and should finished 3 keys (based on my original thought) in 45 mins. Paul showed up right at 9:30 am, which is a huge plus since so many people are not good at being on time nowadays and they just don't care if you have other appointments later. He then realized I actually have 5 keys to change and one door in my bedroom need minor fix. To be honest, I was a little worried that he can't finish all the work in time.
