Best customer service ever! I brought in an old trunk I purchased from an antique fair, with a lock that wouldn't open. There was something rattling inside and it had been in there for at least 50 years. I wanted to keep the lock in tact, so I called Plainfield Lock Techs. Spoke with Scott, he said bring it in and he'll see what he can do. Next day, I get a call that Scott worked on the lock, got it open, while keeping the lock and hardware in tact. There aren't many locksmiths that would have taken the time to open it, while respecting the age of the trunk. Thank you Scott! Really appreciate you respecting the antique and my wishes. read more

While my call was not an emergency, I was still impressed with their responsiveness. I made a call at noon today to see if they could come out and rekey two locks and by 3:30 the job was done. And at a very reasonable price, as well. I sure know now what locksmith I will call if I ever do have an emergency. Thank you! read more

They responded immediately to my inquiry. My son lost his car key and we did not have an extra. They come to the house, had 3 keys made, and were on time and friendly. The price for our emergency service was appropriate and I would absolutely use again. read more

My husband went there to get a couple of special locks that we couldn't find at Menards. The guy said that it would be no problem to get them ordered. When they came in, he went to pick them up and they were the wrong size. So he told the lady behind the behind the counter they were wrong and that he didn't want them. She got angry and yelled at him saying what are we supposed to do with them? Then told him not to come back and to go elsewhere for his needs next time. You can be sure we will NEVER darken their doorsteps again! We were trying to support local businesses, knowing we could get these locks online. read more

I ordered two key fobs on Amazon for my Town and Country minivan. Dealer and ACE Hardware would not program them for me unless I purchased the fobs at their facility. They also wanted over $200 for each. Plainfield Lock Techs programmed BOTH fobs and cut the keys attached to each fob for me for under $120. For both fobs!! It also took all of 10 minutes to do. They were quick and professional and saved me so much money. I highly recommend Plainfield Lock Techs. They are a little tucked away behind the party supply place, but are worth seeking out. Great experience!! read more

So I go here to get a key made for my car. I called ahead, made the appointment and showed up at the designated time. The guy wants to cut a key which doesn't have the remote buttons. I said no, I want the remote. The guy tells me he didn't know that I wanted the remote, and the lady behind the counter blurts out "he never said remote". Right, blame your customers. If you think for a second, a solid plastic key top isn't going to crack, so use your head. If I was to be petty, I might not have said "remote" but I didn't say I wanted a valet key either. You're the so called pros, why didn't you ask? As it turned out they didn't have the blank that I was looking for and said they would order it. It will be here tomorrow they said. They would call me they said. And, it would cost me $50 more for the remote. I waited two days and no phone call so I called the car dealer. Their key installed was $50 cheaper and a genuine part. As it turns out you need to bring in all of your keys so they can all be enrolled at the same time. if you only enroll the new one all the others will be deleted from programming. Of course, the locksmith never said that. I'm sure the lady behind the counter will find a way to blame that on me too. So while their website says they can save you money, the reality is they're 50% more expensive, they didn't have inventory, didn't call to tell me the key didn't come in and broke the cardinal rule, the customer is always right. Not to mention that if they did program a replacement, the spare key would have been deactivated. They failed on every level. read more

Neighbor stepped outside to check the mail, not realizing that her door 's thumb lock was turned, and locked herself out without her cell phone. She came to our house and started calling locksmiths, none of whom would give her a fixed price. Regardless how much information she gave them about the lock, they all said that it would depend on what they found when they saw it, and that it could be up to $200 . . . until she found PLAINFIELD LOCK TECHS. They said they'd be there in 10 minutes and that it would cost $60. They were there within 10 minutes, my neighbor was in her house 3 minutes later, and it cost $60. IT DOES NOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT !!! read more

My husband just returned from this store in Plainfield. He went there to get a Volkswagen key fob cut and programmed, which they said they could do. Well $120.00 later, they could not produce. I can't say how bad this makes this business look. To charge someone for a service they could not provide is nothing short of crooked. read more

My husband lost the only car key we had and was stuck at work at 3:30am. After calling several other "24/7" auto locksmiths and getting either the runaround or voicemail, I stumbled upon Plainfield Lock Techs. My call was answered in less than 3 rings and Scott was quite pleasant. He gathered the necessary info from me and gave me 2 definitive quotes. He arrived at my husband's workplace in much less time than he said and had my husband with a brand new key in no time at all. I will DEFINITELY be referring Scott and Plainfield Lock Techs! read more
