There was something rattling inside and it had been in there for at least 50 years. I wanted to keep the lock in tact, so I called Plainfield Lock Techs. Spoke with Scott, he said bring it in and he'll see what he can do. Next day, I get a call that Scott worked on the lock, got it open, while keeping the lock and hardware in tact. There aren't many locksmiths that would have taken the time to open it, while respecting the age of the trunk. Thank you Scott! Really appreciate you respecting the antique and my wishes.

I will never use this service again and would recommend others find a place that actually completes the work correctly.

The prices I were quoted were flat fees rather than hourly, and they were competitive versus the competition. Even better, this leads to no surprises at billing time. Josh arrived within my preferred one hour time frame. He was professional, friendly, (and since I was curious) informative. He did everything right--even after bumping into a small puzzle of a problem--with patience and grace. You might say, "Your points are granted. But nevertheless, why 5 stars rather than 4?" You got me there. Really, what else could they have done for the extra star? "They could have offered you a beer." Yes indeed they could have. Therefore I offer this qualification of my five star review: Don't contact them if you were expecting a free beer.

For that, I commend them.

In the meantime, we found out that one of the roommates could come let us in. I called back to cancel, fully expecting to still pay a $89 service fee since the technician was already on his way and almost there. To my surprise, they told me not to worry about it and canceled everything at no charge! The entire experience was so easy, and every interaction was quick, friendly, and professional. Even though I ended up not needing their services, I was genuinely impressed by their kindness and customer service. Truly night and day compared to other locksmiths I've dealt with in the past. I would absolutely recommend them and will definitely be calling them again if I ever need a locksmith!

My task in progress because my application is more complicated than normal. I needed an automotive…read moreremote key card. I shopped around but the most value was ordering it online from an automotive remote site. I interacted with Adam and he was able to show up on the early weekend morning. His text are professional and clear, & he included pictures. Mazda even as far back as 2005 (car was delayed as released as an 2006) used a key card. There is a chip in the card and one in the valet key. Mazda blank metal doesn't have all the slots cut into the blank either. Getting the car to go into reprogram mode didn't work because the console said I need two "keys." However there is a chip in both the medal key and card. So one transmitter set will work, or should have. He drove an hour back and forth to get the other generic key and had to modify it with a Dremel rotary tool so that the key would have tolerance to get through the tabs on the ignition. That didn't work and he is coming back next week to try again with just another chipped key. Didn't charge a trip fee for making a round trip, nor for the generic key that didn't work. I will spread the word within the MazdaSpeed group so they can get help if the elect to get the Mazda key card instead of generic. At least have one original card and one generic real key. At this point I elected to tow it to Mazda DG for them to try with my key. Because if I buy theirs, its considered an "installed electronic part," and they won't accept returns. Too risky for $400. If they can do it I just pay for 1/2 hour of programming. Worst case I have to buy their key, mine is also OEM (not eBay/Amazon). His company slogan should be either 'The Locksmith from Lockport,' or 'The Lockport Locksmith.'
