The deadbolt on our front door had a meltdown & we couldn't unlock the deadbolt from the inside & the outside parts fell off!!! What to do????? I purchased a new vehicle a couple of weeks back and sadly it only came with one master key. The dealership, while having a great relationship with them, still quoted me $450.00 to cut and program a key, which I still thought was high for a smart key. I shopped around extensively, searching Yelp, Angie's List, Google Review, etc. for a quality, reliable and fair locksmith that could meet my parameters. Some locksmiths will use key fobs that are different looks-wise but still function the same. I did not want that, I wanted it to look and function the same. I emailed Paul with an inquiry and true to the notes on Yelp, he responded within 12 hours, actually within two hours to be exact, much to my surprise given it was late at night. I worked out my availability with him and he did the same. He ordered the key fob for me (which was identical to my master key), and it actually arrived the very next day. I met up with him and within about an hour, all was said and done. He showed me that it was working correctly, both the fob as well as the physical key itself to unlock the doors. Need I mention that it was freezing outside? I can't say he is a big conversation starter but that's perfectly fine, he is focused, dedicated to providing quality work and honestly I wish I knew of him a while ago. Make sure you get a detailed estimate of all the fees involved when using this service. Had a phone estimate that discussed an $85 service fee, door fees for boring out and installing bolt locks and eye views. I provided the hardware which were combo kits that came with bolt locks and door knobs that locked and unlocked the bolts and door knobs on the same key. I'm sure the average customer doesn't know this, and it may be standard in the industry, but it was not mentioned or brought to my attention that there was a separate fee for replacing the door knobs that came with the bolt locks. I wasn't given a price for or the option to Ok the replacement of the door knobs. The door knob fee was $35 per door, and if the fee was mentioned and I was given the option I would have questioned in depth what the $85 service fee covered. Also, I needed two peep holes bored out eye views installed on 2 doors. The first peep hole installed was centered, but the second peep hole installed was not centered. It was obvious he did not take the time out to measure or use the same measurements from the first door. Instead he used a nail that's off center for hanging items as a guide to install the peep hole or eye view. $50 was taken off the bill and I wasn't charged for the boring of the peep holes, however, I believe the fees taken off were added back into the fee for the door knobs that were never discussed or mentioned. The bolt locks were installed properly, however, with the overall experience I could have gotten the same results at a better price from a handy man service. read more

Lost a set of keys that included two remote fobs for a couple of late model Muranos. At 11 am on a Sunday I found myself in an embarrassing situation, where I had new tenants moving in starting at 2 pm (in Naperville), but I couldn't find my set of keys anywhere in my house, and my vacating tenants had forgotten to leave the inside door unlocked for me. Paul was great. He answered the phone and tried to troubleshoot my lock issue, and didn't try to offer me anything expensive or something I didn't need. I ended up having him replace my back door knob and deadbolt. He gave me a quote with and without the hardware (which was reasonably priced), so I just asked him do the whole thing. I was able to choose the finish and type of handle, and whether or not I wanted both locks to fit the same key -- and he made extra keys for me as well! Paul just finished rebuilding the ignition on my 2006 Azera. The key completely broken and this resulted in quite a bit more work than I was originally quoted, inspite of the additional work Paul did not upcharge me from his original quote. I also needed new keys programmed and cut for the car. The prices Paul charged for this additional service were much lower than I would have received at the dealership.
