Very professional and knowledgeable. PHS has been around a long time so we called them because we used them before. They are now under a different name but we received the same reliable high quality service we had years ago! read more

I think PH Locksmith is turning into A Core locksmith. This is what a friend told me. Correct me if I am wrong. The phone number and address have been transferred to the new owner. My review is for A Core. I needed two backdoor locks replaced. I called on a Thursday and made an appt for Early Monday morning because we were on Spring Break. Joe was the technician that did our locksmith. A very polite guy, showed up on time. My husband wanted the inner door locks changed as well as they were super old. So we ended up having 4 locks replaced. I thought the price was reasonable. I didn't want to pay to replace doors. That can wait. I was very happy with A Core and will be calling them again. read more

The only locksmith I use. Friendly, straight-forward service. I'll continue to use them until they're retired.

Stopping by today (3/22/24), sign on door indicates storefront is closed but service is still available by phoning PHS. Not clear if this is a temporary or permanent situation. Have always been pleased with service provided by PHS in the past. read more

I was able to get an appointment immediately and Joe even arrived early. I had a tough job and he was extremely persistent and got the job done. Really appreciate the great and helpful service! read more

PHS is great service and responsive and knowledgeable. I have used them twice now, and they are my go-to for locksmith services. Highly recommended. read more

If you're looking for a reliable locksmith or need additional keys made, I highly recommend PHS Locksmiths. The young lady was very nice, helpful and had my keys ready very quickly. Service was top notch! I will definitely go back! read more

Great experience with Joe, whose been a locksmith for some 50 years. He knew I was on a tight schedule and phoned to ask if he could arrive early. Yes! And he finished the job of replacing locks on 5 doors in an hour less than anticipated. 14 keys cut correctly, too. I would use again and recommend without reservation. read more

I use a lockbox to leave my electronic key fob and gate key for my dog walker. The box would not open with the keys inside even though three people tried multiple times. I figured I needed a locksmith to get it open. I called PHS and talked to the locksmith. He told me to use a mallet and tap on the box on all sides to dislodge the stuck keys. He said that is what he would do if he came out and if it didn't work he could open the box but it would destroy it. He said try the mallet first otherwise if he comes out he will charge $115. I used a hammer (no mallet available) and did what he said and sure enough I was able to get the box open. This was an incredibly kind thing to do and it shows they are really about customer service, not just making money. If I ever need a locksmith, I will be sure to call PHS. read more

Very helpful and knowledgeable. Familiar with older style locks that most of the houses in the Oak Park / River Forest have. Exceedingly friendly and responsive. Highly recommend! read more

My doors open like silk. Until now, I never realized how much my quality of life was being impacted by sticky locks. How many times have I apologized about my "touchy" lock? How many times have I explained to someone about how it needs to be "finessed"? And how many times, when there was no one to apologize or explain to, have I sighed and struggled, or how many more times, not even that... just silently accepted that this was my lot in life. Of course my life was impacted by this! I did this every day of my adult life! I accepted this subtle but constant tyranny without question... with only occasional passive-aggressive complaints. Here's my excuse. I didn't know better. I didn't know how much happier I would be without this incessant reminder that I wasn't worthy--a reprimand in the form of a deserved daily suffering. Then, Joe came, and rekeyed my new house... which is an old house with crazy, old locks. He made it so I only needed one key for all the locks--no longer do I need to carry around a pound of metal. Then he made it so a key did what it was supposed to. Nothing extra. It doesn't cook dinner or clean the house. It just opens the doors. Yet, it was magical. A whole new world opened up for me because I now have the energy I used to be wasting on fighting with my door every day. In fact, here I am, apparently starting to write a novel. The title is, "The Locksmith." You should definitely get it when it comes out. New York Time Book Review will gush and say, "the most non-magical magical realism story of its time." My buttery locks made me think--what other indignities have I allowed in my life because I didn't think to question it? And if I addressed them, how much more productive will I be? Even if you don't need new keys, call PHS if you find yourself in a rut, or feel like there's something out there waiting for you, but you just don't know what. They will change your life. read more

Had my French door latch fixed. Doors are over 100 years old. Took it out and fave to Phil. They fixed it for $10.00. Reinstalled it myself and works like new!! read more

PHS Locksmith was great. Courteous phone service. Timely arrival as scheduled, and Phil was very helpful. We thought we had a problem with a lock, but it turned out it was that the door was misaligned. Showed us how to correct that with a few turns of a screw on the doorframe hinge. Quick, efficient and then, though he still would have received a five star review, he didn't charge us for the service. read more

Bought a new house and reached to have some locks changed and fixed (some were misaligned). Fil was able to fix our garage door which was not locking at all. Company had really good customer service and did good work overall. read more

Joe was a great help in rekeying my new home! He was fast and efficient and really took the time to explain every step and outline his process. Would definitely recommend PHS to anyone in the area as they were very quick to accommodate my schedule at a great price. read more

BIZARRE! This company is located in Oak Park. They've been around long enough to know the drill. But the woman who answered the phone started complaining that they would not be able to make an appointment with me unless I could guarantee that there would be street parking near my place. I explained that there were places to park, but as any Oak Parker knows, the approved spaces change by day part, and you have to pay attention to the signs, and place your car in the parts of the block that allow parking during that time of day. She did not accept this, and went on to say that she could not commit to making an appointment because I was unable to tell her what parking would be available on a particular day later in the week. Way to kill business! I actually wound up booking a competitor of theirs, who had no such qualms. read more

I couldn't be happier with the work that "Joe" from PHS Locksmiths did at my house. He arrived right on time one recent Saturday morning and offered me a very reasonable estimate on the work I wanted done. As I was in no hurry, he returned two weeks later - EARLY! - and completed the job. I couldn't be more pleased with the work that he did! He is very professional, polite and a very nice man. Thanks, Joe! read more

Hired them when the key broke off in my double security floor safe. (You unlock the combination lock with a key.) They had the broken key piece extracted, and the lock tumbler repaired on site in just under 30 minutes. :) I highly recommend them. read more

Really nice place. They do more than just get you back inside when you lose your keys. They have all sorts of doorknobs and locks. They give lots of good advice on DIY installation. they helped me rekey my locks so that I can use the same key for many doors. They have an array of skeleton keys, and they sold me a few so I could open a china cabinet I got from Gramma, and then I returned the ones that didn't work. They sold this neat plastic template guide to drill out the holes to install a door lock, though at a higher price than the same one at Dressel's. They have two sweet dogs behind the counter. Everyone I've talked to here has been really helpful and friendly and you can just chat with them. I will be using these guys for all my dook/lock/key needs. read more

PHS Locksmiths - Outside storefront - Keys & Locksmiths Near Me - Oak Park, Illinois

Called Joe at 8:00 am he was at our house by 9:30 am. Fixed the the lock and couldn't be more professional. Highly recommend this company for locksmith issues. read more

With a cheap lock on a side door, a broken lock on the garage and an old mortis lock on the front door with a different key, it seemed to be time to replace all of these with a set of matched locks. When i first planned this i thought it was going to be difficult and maybe require a lot of back and forth with a locksmith, but after 10 minutes in PHS, they explained exactly what i needed to do and i had a new set of locks in my hand that afternoon. I installed them myself, and everything worked out exactly as they explained it would. Very helpful folks! read more

Really nice. Were able to come right away. Had to replace broken lock and had everything needed on the truck. He explained everything as he did it, and did some maintenance on my front door, which he noticed was stiff. Reasonable rates and tip was appreciated. read more

Excellent service - got locked out of my place once and Joe was able to get in without destroying my front door!!

One of last true locksmiths. They have a showroom of lock and door set options. I needed a mailbox lock set (not just a key) everyone told me it would be around $75, PHS has them for less than $20. They are friendly and professional and didn't make me feel intimidated by asking a bunch of questions. read more

We have a warped front door and a back door with hinge issues. Joe was great about communicating the challenges that went with adding locks to these doors and explained all the options available to me. He was able to get one door done and the new lock works perfectly (despite the problematic door) and is now super secure. One door will require some handyman repairs. Joe made sure I understood the issues and helped me choose among options. He (and Fil, who phoned and texted with me as needed from the PHS store about hardware choices) made it clear they were keeping my best interests in mind and making themselves available for my questions and schedule. I highly recommend PHS. read more

Great service. Parking is hit or miss but prices are reasonable. Used them for our business and residential. Recommended.

I called them on Thursday at the end of the day and they were able to come fix a broken lock on Friday. It was not an emergency but it sounded like if it was they would've been able to come Thursday evening. Felipe was who I spoke with and who I sent pictures via text back and forth with and he was great. I appreciate his urgency. He also was able to change our locks around a bit so we use one key for 3 separate locks. If we ever need a locksmith in the future we will use them again! read more

I would never consider using another locksmith. This team is professional, on-time, willing to educate and affordable. I can't say enough positive things about this accomplished crew. read more

Great service. Respectful. On time. Thank you for the service and being available promptly as promised!

Excellent service, excellent communication; showed up on time w/masks, professionalism & skill. When your locks fail (stuff we take for granted), it's a tense time. Especially in a pandemic. They know that & come ready to help, asking the right questions from the first call. I always turn to PHS in Oak Park to be sure of having these problems taken care of (more than once). Thanks esp. to Joe & Joe! read more

Just moved in to a new home in Berwyn, and needed rekeying all my doors. I called and from the initial call everyone was very professional. I schedulled an appointment for service and the technician arrived exactly on the time scheduled. He was very professional and proficient with his work. He gave us an estimate and options for ua to save money. He installed a new deadbolt on the front door where there was not an existing one and the lock works amazingly. Great work and excellent pricing. I was able to pay with my Android Pay by taping the technician's portable square device, which made it so convenient for me. Will highly recommend and work w them again read more

This place is awesome. From the get-go, PHS explained everything to me in an incredibly concise and polite manner. I knew before the locksmith came out exactly what I should expect for pricing. Joe visited my place and couldn't have been any nicer. He was super efficient and even told me to try the new keys for my satisfaction. Thanks PHS for making this process painless. read more

My wife and I just bought a house in Berwyn and, the day after the closing, I had PHS Locksmiths come over to rekey all of our locks. They guy who did it was amazing! Our locks work even better than before. He even took our front door lock completely apart to make the dead bolt shoot farther into the door frame. Can't say enough about them .... and ... the price was very reasonable. read more

Our babysitter got locked out with the kids while both my wife and I were out of town. Called PHS from the side of the mountain at 10k ft and they said they could get someone over in 2 hours as all his locksmiths were out on jobs. Seemed reasonable so I set up the appointment. By the time I got to the bottom they called me up and the said they would send someone right away. Got my babysitter and kids in less than an hour later and charged me less than he quoted. Very happy with the prompt friendly service! read more

Hired PHS to re-key five lock cores and install a deadbolt. Was quoted $200 on phone; job completed, flawlessly, for $189.67. Installer, Felipe, arrived on time and gave me a written quote after inspecting each lock. His work was clean - no sawdust or debris from drilling - and checked that each lock worked with ech key he cut. I am very happy with PHS Locksmiths and definitely recommend them. read more

I have been here many times and I do not plan on going to a different shop or hardware store anytime soon. The service at PHS is fantastic and I have never had an issue with any of the locks or keys/key copies which I have had made here. I can't recommend these guys enough! read more

Thank you PHS for outstanding service. We bought a house in Berwyn. PHS was patient and accommodating as the closing date kept getting moved around. Every time I called the phone service was very good. When we finally did use the locksmith we were very pleased with the service. He called about 10 minutes before arriving. He was prompt, thorough, and quick. Pricing was up front and reasonable. Will definitely use them again in the future. Highly recommended. read more
