Fil was just fantastic. He installed two smart locks in my condo. We started with a consult and he was able to tell me that the locks I was looking at would work - my doors have some unique characteristics, which he was able to thoroughly walk me through - and provided a quote the next day. The actual install went smoothly, he showed me the key features about how to use my news locks and some tips to remember about the smart locks specifically. Fil is also very calm and straightforward, which may seem silly to mention, but traits I really appreciated as I've been stressed moving into a new place and dealing with lots of new issues. I called and was given a detailed explanation of what services I needed (I had NO IDEA what rekeying was!) with an estimate of cost. I needed a locksmith and looked for one on Yelp. Mine was an unusual key and I needed copies made. The owner instantly identified the key as being from a certain company (that installed my door). The hardware store I had gone to previously could not duplicate it, so I had to return all the key copies made at that hardware store. Once I got to PHS Locksmith, I had no worries. They suggested that instead of making the 6 duplicate keys I wanted, that I just make one, try it, then if it worked, to come back for the rest. Since it was an unusual type of key, I agreed. It worked perfectly. I went back the next day and got the rest made. These people know their stuff. They are training a young man (their son, maybe?), and he was great at making the keys and he explained lots to me. If you need something like I did, I would go there. Good job. read more

My husband and I recently bought a new home and wanted to change all the locks. I've used PHS on two different occasions for basic home lock and key service. One involved a house call, where Joe came out. He was on time, courteous and went above and beyond (on the day before thanksgiving!) to make sure I was completely satisfied. The second involved swapping out the cylinder in a deadbolt in their location. Quick, painless service. My only suggestion for improvement would be to take the time to explain the different lock options they have available. I went with a mid-grade home deadbolt that was much better than what was in my lock previously, however I may have elected to get a more expensive high security option where it discussed with me. All-in-all, these folks will be my go-to lock and key service for years to come. read more

I went in to PHS Locksmiths this morning to get a few copies of keys made. They were friendly and quick, and I definitely would have recommended them based on this experience alone. But then, later this afternoon I locked myself and my 9 week old puppy out of my condo without my wallet or cell phone. I walked all the way to PHS Locksmiths, hoping they'd be able to help, and they were! They came to my condo very quickly and were able to get me back into my place in a flash. The guy who helped me out (Joe, I think) was super nice and really made the experience much less bad that it could have been. read more

I had a (slightly) broken lock and called PHS based on Yelp reviews. Rather than accepting my request to come and fix it, PHS (Al, in this case) asked a few questions and then offered to guide me through what turned out to be a simple repair over the phone. It took us about 6 minutes, and my lock is now better than ever. I asked if I could pay for this service, and Al just laughed politely. He also explained why I should not pay them to come and install a push-button lock on my side garage door (w/o a storm, the buttons tend to freeze in cold weather). Our back door lock wasn't moving at all, and we couldn't get out of the house! I called them early Saturday morning, on a day when we had a lot of commitments. I didn't like that we couldn't schedule a time, and in fact I told them we wouldn't be home until noon, but got a phone message that the worker had shown up at 11! Communication was poor. HOWEVER, the guy came again and was fantastic! He didn't try to sell us a new, expensive lock, which most locksmith services would have done. Instead, he actually repaired the lock. He was an old-time locksmith, and told us he had 32 years experience in the biz. We couldn't have asked for anything better. An excellent worker, skilled in the trade, saving us money, and showed up within a reasonable time frame. So glad to "shop local" and get great service.
