Charged 4800 dollars for rear hatch on a Cadillac Escalade to get repaired and didn't do any repairs on the front end as discussed in estimate process. Incompetence and high end labor. Recently I got into a small fender bender which was my fault. I met with my insurance adjuster (GEICO) and they asked me if I wanted to use their express service which I declined immediately. I had already had made up my mind about taking my baby to Berli's. I mean, they're one of the best in Austin right? So a few days before my vehicle inspection I call Berli's who seemed quite receptive and answered my questions in a prompt manner. But the moment I sent my quote to Berli's, they dropped off the map. It took Berli's 7 business days to call me back to discuss my quote. During which, they outlined the fact their hourly rate was higher - which I was to pay the difference. That whatever the insurance didn't cover - I would have to cover. If I'm paying for car insurance, why do I have to pay more to get my car fixed? I decided after a few days of no word from Berli's to go check out additional shops. Quality was amazing! From the get go they ooze honesty and truly caring about the service. Within 30 minutes of discussion, I had made my decision. I wanted to go somewhere where they will treat me right and take care of my vehicle. Berli's seemed not to give a rats about me and my puny quote. Dang. I really, really wanted to like this place. Two days after buying my new car I had a slight altercation with the gate at my apartment complex. Some would say I hit the gate, I would say the gate closed on me. Either way, my poor back panel lost that battle and came away with a pretty sizable dent . It wasn't huge, maybe a foot by a foot and a half but it was just past the point where it couldn't just be popped out like I was hoping. My poor sweet vehicle. In my possession for less than 48 hours before I had to bring it in to a body shop. The least I could do was bring it to the best. So I went to yelp and found the three best places in Austin close to where I lived. I took it in for an estimate to all 3 and, although quality body shop came back with the highest bid, they also seemed to be the most trustworthy. Seriously, the people working here are all very nice people and to a certain extent, it pains me to give such a harsh review. Still, in an attempt to be as objective as possible I have to say the two stars seems entirely fair based on my experience. The price was no big deal. I mean I have a set deductible so it didn't really matter that much. Rickey was my first point of contact, the one who gave me my estimate, and the person I spoke to on multiple occasions throughout the process. He is a real nice guy and extremely personable. Since my car was a coupe, the back panel that was damaged pretty much wrapped all the way to the front of the car. That meant they had to order a new back panel, cut through the weldings on the frame, remove the glass from the back and front, buff out a few scratches, and repaint the new panel while making sure to blend the rest of the paint in. Damn. I did more damage than I thought. The other places I brought it to did not recommend such extensive cosmetic repairs (some would have done the repair without ordering a new back panel) but I wouldn't let my girlfriend go to a second rate plastic surgeon who would do a half ass job, why would I do that with my car? (that by the way is a total joke) He told me that my car could be fixed and ready to go somewhere between 10 days and 2 weeks (this was also on the higher end compared to the other places I had brought my car into). I have another vehicle so I was not worried about a rental car. There is a chance telling them this was a mistake because they really took their time fixing my car. After about ten days I called to check in on the process. I was itching to get back into that new car of mine (okay so it wasn't new in the technical sense but it was new to me). They let me know that they were expecting it to take longer and told me to call back in another week. No big, a half week delay is ok. So I called in once the 2 1/2 week mark rolled around and they said they still were not done yet. Another half week they said. Well, when I called back at the three week mark they let me know they would need another half week. What? All i want is to drive my car. How do they keep getting their time estimates off? Anyway, almost a month after I dropped off my car I was told I could come back and pick it up. I felt like I freshman going to pick up my homecoming date. I was just nervous with anticipation. Almost immediately after seeing my car I noticed a spot that they failed to repair. My side mirror had been clipped by the gate and was scratched up. Both Rickey and I made a point to get this fixed during our initial consultation. But it wasn't. Ricky immediately offered to keep the car and get it fixed free of charge. Still, it was Friday and he couldn't get it done that day so he would have to keep it until Monday. I told him I would bring it back another time. I later checked the bill for the damage repair and saw that the body shop had already been paid for the repair of the side mirror. Thus, Ricky's offer to fix it for free was nice but a little empty considering he had already gotten the check for it. The repair itself looked great except for the spot he missed. There was an accent stripe that he had to replace that is already beginning peel in a few spots. That's no good. Also, the "car detail" they say comes with the repair was pretty sad. Tons of streaks and dust everywhere. The detail is really an afterthought but it kind of adds insult to injury. I have yet to bring in the car to get the damage they overlooked fixed. I just haven't had a good day to be without a car. It's just annoying Anyway. Minus four stars for the extreme delay, failing to repair all the damage, the accent stripe peeling less than four weeks after application (while the other side's stripe is still holding strong), and high cost. They get a star because of their super nice faculty and generally good job on the major repair. I still trust the people there and would almost consider bringing my car in again but i wish it would have been a no brainer. 2 stars. read more

Our son's car was attacked by half-witted trash can one windy night and we needed a good body shop to take care of the damages. I obtained a few quotes and ended up here for a number of reasons. 1. Rickie and Larry, the two brothers who own the shop, were the nicest guys I ran into in my search for an estimate. Nice goes a long way with me. It is obvious these good ole boys are not from California. 2. Murphy. He is the big chocolate lab that is often found hanging around the body shop. Murphy is a real love bug. (See the photos) 3. The ceramic Mother Goose that sits on the shelf in the waiting area. It is a legacy from Verna who was their secretary for a long time and like a mother to them. 4. The body shop business is family owned for over 30 years. 5. They have a multitude of photos on their website and in the shop of past car body repair jobs. I liked seeing all the good results. 6. Rickie assured me the car's "Pearl" paint was not going to be a problem for them. It is a 3-step process that requires a lot of careful attention. 7. They informed me of two car rental locations close by that would meet me at the shop the day I dropped off the car, and, called the rental agency for me! 8. The car looks fantastic! They washed and vacuumed it and put on the front license plate, which was never put on the car in the first place, at no charge. These guys delivered a great final product, superb customer service and the kid's car is purring. I think I'll slap a new bumper sticker on my car that reads: "I brake for children, animals and Quality Body Shop." read more

We went to this place to get an estimate because of the great Yelp reviews - and wow... in all my years, I've never had such a bad and humiliating experience at a body shop. Who goes to a body shop to get embarrassed and abused? Sheesh. Worst #Austin #ATX body shop experience in 50 years. We drove a half hour to get an estimate. When d arrived, the owner just let ux stand there while he discussed politics and other non-customer-related things with one of his buddies. We were just ignored. While reviewing our requests, he treated us like a bunch of total idiots - with total disdain..almost disgust. I should point out that we've done almost all my own car maintenance and repairs for the past ten years - on some seriously complicated German (3 AMG) cars. So it's not like we are a bunch of rubes on this front. I am completely shocked at the disrespect and complete lack of professionalism that this place showed us. This kind of attitude simply has no place in any public-facing business. I would immediately fire any person in my company who acted in such a fashion. Immediately. Like in one nano-second. Nobody - no matter how skilled, unskilled, knowledgable or ignorant in auto repair should be treated with such contempt, lack of respect, scorn, disregard or disdain. Every potential customer deserves respect. IF YOU WANT TO BE HUMILIATED, ABUSED AND MADE FUN OF - THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. I'm sure that their body repair work is competent, but I'm not at all OK with being humiliated in exchange for competent body work. There are so many great body shops in Austin. I'm going back to Berli's - they've always done an amazing job for me. And they've always treated me the way that a customer should be treated (like a human being). I had a really bad experience. Larry seems like a nice guy and I gave a good review at first because I felt guilty, but I feel I need to go back and be honest about my experience. It's been a year and a half since my repair now and I am calmed down, but still a bit upset. I'll start at the end, which was the worst part... When I came to pick up my car the third time (over 8 weeks since drop-off), I found it parked out w/the keys in it and NEW DAMAGE to the front end! Neither Larry or anybody in the shop said they had any idea what had happened to my car ~ I had to call my insurance adjuster and get them to email over pics that they took of my car when it was dropped off to prove that the damage happened on their watch. After that, they aggreed to repair the front end. I had originally dropped-off my brand new Mazda to have the rear side panel repaired ~ It had just been backed into in a parking while it was parked. Minor damage. When I came in to pick it up the first time (about 4 weeks later), the inside of the wheel well, right on the edge of the body where the body bends/curves just insiude the wheel well and is still painted, it looked like when you spread icing on a cake w/a spatula. It looked nothing like the other side of the car. When I mentioned it, Larry sat down and went at it w/his pocket knife right in front of me scraping away at it. Then he used some of that "nail polish" type touch-up paint and looked at me and smiled like "good as new". I rejected that and asked them to re-do that whole area correctly and make it look like the other side of the car does. After calling the insurance adjuster, they agreed. PS, I also had to ask them to re-allign the rear bumper because when they put it back on it was a little crooked. 2nd time I came back, the side panel/wheel well edge looked decent...BUT I found MORE NEW DAMAGE to both the front and rear passenger side doors/windows! They said when they took the doors off to paint they got damaged..SO I had to wait and come back again while they repaired their new damage. ...at this point, the insurance adjuster started charging Quality Body Shop for the daily fees for my rental car because they said at almost 2 months, it was beyond any reasonable amount of time for the repair to be completed. Then I came in that 3rd time after 2 months and my car was parked out front either wrecked or "something"~ nobody had any idea in the shop. They tried to deny anything at first and once the pics of my car fron the INS adjuster were emailed over and looked at, they had to fix it AGAIN. So they keep paying for my rental and have to fix they new damage they did to the front end now... I came back the 4th time, everything looked good. I looked over everything w/a fine tooth comb. I was ready to get out of there...I thanked them and gave them the benefit of the doubt and did not want to give a bad review even w/what had happened. I understand how maybe hiring one bad apple in a garage or something could give a good place some trouble, maybe... Fast-forward to now (about 1.5 years later). With time, you start to notice things you cant tell right away...like the "creeking" crunching a coke can sound my car makes when it gets cold (Texas cold...like under 50 deg). An annoying sound coming from the rear side panel they repaired. I also notice that they like to use a LOT of that "nail polish" type touch-up paint in their work ~ for instance, around the edges of my front bumper they damaged, then repaired. Also around the rear bumper edges...especially where 2 panels meet or where a bumper meets a metal panel. Lots of nail polis. Some of it has flaked-off by now and I have bare, unpainted spots. I also noticed a lot of "overspray" in the rear hatchback/trunk-ish area of the interior...and oil-finger stains on my headliner around the area they worked. I also don't think their paint matches very well. Just wanted to come back and be honest. I went here based on the 5 star reviews here, and then I had a terrible experience w/a brand new car. I won't be so quick to trust 5 star reviews in the future. When a car is brand new, you can notice every little thing they miss and the things they damaged while repairing it. I would not return to this place, ever. I don't like giving bad reviews. Check my other reviews ~ I love giving positive feedback too. My car was keyed up by someone with nothing better to do. The key scratch spanned two doors on a brand new Toyota Prius. I was livid knowing that having both doors repainted would go well beyond my $500 deductible. Quality Body Shop to the rescue. I was met by Rickie at the door and he suggested that instead of a paint job we try to buff out the damage, even out the coat and see how it looks. He also said he could get it done right there and then for $50. They got to it, and the scratch damage is now barely visible on my vehicle. You really can't see it unless you're really looking for it! Rickie said that he did not want to buff anymore as this could ruin the clear coat of the paint. I was happy with the job, forked over $50 and was on my way. My experience at Quality Body Shop showed me two things, they will do what they can to deliver a quality job with minimal expense to their customers, and they will also not be reckless with your vehicle. They were up front, creative, and honest in what they could do for me and I appreciated that most of all. Based on their Yelp reviews I was hoping they would do a paint job on a hard top for a classic car. Well they stayed open late until I got there only to give me ideas, that Rhino lining the hard top would look much better. Keep in mind, they don't do Rhino Lining, so they were turning down business in my best interest. Right before Christmas I got a lump of coal in my stocking. Another driver purposely stopped short so that I would hit him. My vehicle got the brunt of the damage. The talented and dedicated team at State Farm ruled in my favor and processed my claim. I reached out to my inspired following on social media and 75% of them said that Quality Body Shop was the way to go. Then my agent at State Farm agreed that they were the best. All of the praise still couldn't prepare me for the experience I have had with QBS. I dropped my car off last week and both Tom and Buster greeted me. During the claims process I had spoken with Buster a few times and each occurrence left me feeling more and more comfortable with letting Quality fix my car. While I have a few more days to go before I can pick up my ride, I have completely forgotten about the frustration of the accident and the actions of the other driver. When I talked to Buster after finally meeting him in person, I said that it was unfortunate that we had to meet under the circumstances of a damaged vehicle and followed with the old saw: "everything happens for a reason". He replied with a variation of the QBS mantra. "We meet by accident." If you need *quality* work on your car from *quality* people, Quality Body Shop is the way to go. read more

They are onsite daily to supervise all work that is occurring. They offer great results at a fair price and turn product around as promised. I echo the sentiments of a reviewer from a couple weeks ago ... if I could give them more than five stars I would. I took my Mazda 6 in for repairs after an accident quite a while ago. The work was done well, was completed very promptly, and was very reasonably priced. Following that, I had a problem getting the latch on the hood to lock. I took my car to Quality Auto Body again and I was told I could either spend over $100 for the factory latch or they could just bend the current latch (at no charge) and it would probably work fine. Needless to say I chose the latter and the hood has opened and closed perfectly fine since then. Yesterday after a minor accident, the front panel of the car was bent and had become detached from the passenger side of the car. I stopped in without an appointment; I was told to wait a few minutes while they looked at in back. In less than 15 minutes they brought the car back out completely repaired; they had readjusted the bumper and bolted it back securely to the frame of the car. With my huge ego, I consider myself an expert on almost everything :). One of the few issues where I am admittedly completely ignorant is auto body work. With both the hood latch and the detached front panel, they could have easily told me it would have been a costly repair. In both cases, however, I walked away owing nothing - other than a sincere debt of gratitude to a business that is honest, operates with integrity, and provides great customer service. read more

We did most of our communication with Ricky, who seemed just as willing to have a casual conversation as he is to give you an honest, knowledgeable opinion. When we asked for an estimate, he didn't just spit out a number - he really analyzed what it would take and really seemed to care about giving us a fair price. We were extremely impressed with how honest he was. We just wanted a fix in place that would be affordable, without worrying about the aesthetics too much, and they worked with us and got it done in about an hour or less for FAR less than what we expected.
