Scam artists pulling all the stops. Told me they used a certain oil filter, when I changed it myself next time it was a much cheaper product and definitely NOT the product they told me they used. I went in for a sensor and they brought out the "broken" one that was supposedly in my car to me. For some reason, it kept breaking and they kept getting to make money off me. I was lucky I found them through Google Search. I needed a PPI done on an exotic car I was buying from a dealership nearby (I am out-of-state though). Their pricing was very, very reasonable: $135. Furthermore, the lady on the phone - Katelyn - was a pleasure to deal with. Not only did she continue to provide help on any questions I had before and during the PPI process, but also AFTERWARDS also! She was very detailed and also extremely patient and friendly. Customer service here was A++. Regarding the actual PPI, I was happy that they were able to do one on such short notice. The inspection apparently was very thorough and based upon the notes I got back, indicated an issue with the brake rotors. While in the end, I am still going to purchase the car, I did find out that while the rotors are still safe, they are simply alerting me that they will need to be changed sooner than later. In any case, they found the car had no other issues and ran perfectly. I'm glad I ran into this company and would fully recommend them to others for a PPI! read more

Wow! I want to thank Austin Mobile Mechanics for a great experience today. I won't speak for all women, but this one knows little to nothing about cars and every time I go in for repairs I hope that the mechanics are going to be honest and helpful. I went to Austin Mobile Mechanics (recently under new ownership), for a second opinion on an estimate another shop gave me. Thank goodness I did. Turns out the other place said I needed something replaced that really did not need to be replaced. The staff was friendly and honest. There was never any pressure and they made me feel comfortable. Really had a great experience. My daughter's car was stuck in her dorm garage and we couldn't get it to start even with a jump. I called Austin Mobile Mechanics thinking it was the starter, and I was going to have to have the car towed. But the very friendly mechanic I talked with (sorry, did not get the name) asked me a few questions and said it wasn't the starter and suggested trying a new battery. We did, and her car started. In one word ... expensive !! I found out that the same work could have been done at a dealer for much less. They did the work for about 50% more than what the leading dealer in town quoted. Why couldn't I take it to the dealer? Even this was a trap. I called AMM and Randy said that based on my explanation it was minor problem and it would cost $300. So I got my car towed there. After looking at it he said it was much larger problem and quoted over $1200. However, I'd have to pay them over $150, since I had incurred towing and diagnostic charges. Looking over at the bill, I found that they had overcharged me for the parts by 50% as well. They said there might be some additional work, but most probably not. However, every thing said and done, they charged me for every optional service possible and then $25 over that. You're better off with the best dealer in town. read more

This shop truly does care about every one of their customers. After a misunderstanding and a very bad day. Julian, the shop owner, called me first thing in the morning and apologized for the mix up. Then he really went out of his way to make sure I felt the situation was rectified. They apologized many times and I am now certain my situation was a very very rare occurrence. Not only the call and offering a solution but also took on costs I didn't expect them to. They saved me money where another shop told me I needed other parts and repairs that were NOT actually needed. Having A/C issues is always something that makes one worry it's going to cost an arm and a leg. Austin Mobile mechanics let me know my vehicle had been misdiagnosed and what the actual issue was. The other shop was setting me up to repair things that weren't needed so my issue wouldn't be fixed and they could rack up a bill. (A/C with three children and a pregnancy in 104 degree weather is a necessity really.) AMM knew I was on a time crunch and really worked around that to get my vehicle back to me quickly. Steven was super kind, helpful and kept in touch with me throughout the entire day. He also helped me understand the repairs needed and the quote. He was such a help to me and very patient. They truly went above and beyond to help take care of my van issues. I would come back here for mechanic needed vehicle service without hesitation. I will be recommending them to anyone I know local to them. It's really hard to find a decent mechanic who treats you like a valued customer and not like a money tree. Disappointed! I've always appreciated how local Austin businesses seem to value customer satisfaction over making a buck. As a business owner myself its just not worth it to gouge or be unreasonable. Apparently the owner of this company disagrees with me. What I thought was an alternator problem turned out to just need a simple jump start. The mechanic was a nice enough guy but took roughly 20 seconds to fix my problem with jumper cables. I called the office to request that the additional $45 be waived since that is usually reserved for doing a thorough diagnosis and estimate of the problem. My paying the $57 mobile fee for their time seemed like a solid compromise. Its only fair that they get compensated for making the drive and helping me out. Thats the business side of me biting my lip and doing the right thing. I found the extra $45 fee unnecessary. And here is why: After I spoke with the office they called the mechanic who informed them what happened. I watched him explain it was a simple dead battery. They called me back and said that the owner was not going to help me out because the mechanic diagnosed the alternator so I would have to pay $102. So those 5 seconds he took to "diagnose the alternator" while the car was running fine cost me a lot. It was obviously a dead battery and required no work on their part other than the trip. So while I cannot comment on the quality of their work beyond this situation I can say their owner was unwilling to be fair and that goes a long way with me and most people. I was perfectly willing to pay them for their time but they were not as reasonable and decided to charge me $102 to jump start my car. I will be taking my future business elsewhere and suggesting everyone I know do the same. There are several mobile mechanics in Austin with great reviews a simple Google search away. read more

Finally found someone I can trust to work on my Toyotas, as well as my 1971 El Camino I'm restoring. They have a brick and mortar store on McPhaul St, easy to get to, drop off, pick up, or they come to your house. I buy the parts and drop them off, they install them. I get a break in part costs that way. Tommy and Scott are both 5 star mechanics who know their business about cars. They are polite, sober, and street smart about cars. Awesome experience. My radiator went out right before Christmas (great timing). I called them to get an estimate and they gave me a much better price than any of the other places that I had called. I was planning on coming in one day, but didn't have time and they followed up with me. I scheduled another day. Though I was told it would be done the same day, the place they ordered a part from shipped the wrong one and I had to wait until the following day. They did give me a courtesy call to let me know what was happening. I picked up my car the next day and everything was great. Radiator still seems to be working well! read more

After being left high and dry by another local mobile mechanic, I decided to call this place when my car wouldn't start. The phone service would get 5 stars, the woman I spoke with was a joy, helpful, and very informative. The mechanic arrived in an hour, which was awesome. His service however, was mediocre at best. He wasn't very at friendly, didn't explain what he was doing, and actually didn't even greet me before starting to look at my car. This left me confused. The bill was also really overpriced. It ended up being $250 just to change out my battery. Whew! Conclusion- this place is fast to respond if you're in a hurry, but if you have the time, look around for somewhere cheaper with friendlier mechanics. read more

Don't go to these guys whatever you do. They came out to give me an estimate and diagnosis of my car and chargedme 100 dollars to tell me the problem would be 800 or 900 dollars to fix. I found myself with an Audi that wouldn't start, yet again. Given the fact the car isn't that old but ran out of the warranty I was fearful I would have to go back to the Audi Dealership and spend another 3-6K. I called a ton of mechanics around town and Spencer was the only one who didn't seem put off or annoyed by my questions and concerns. They also have the lowest price for a diagnostic test! Once my car arrived, I bombarded Spencer with calls/questions and he remained professional, extremely courteous, and didn't tell me to buzz off, I probably would have if I was him. Randy called less than 24hours later to tell me he had looked over my car multiple times and scoured every inch to give me the final diagnosis. It was the starter in case you were wondering. He explained the time line, the line item costs associated, and exactly how he would replace it. Randy explained all of this as in terms I understood and was patient with me while I caught up to speed. The total cost of the repairs were less than $800 which is a steal since it's a german car and they aren't easily fixed. They also waived the diagnostic fee since I went through with the repairs (every dollar counts for me). I grew up around old cars and my father worked in the auto industry for my entire life and since he is no longer living and I can't ask him advice on what to do, Spencer and Randy gave me the feeling that they were safe and trustworthy. I have been upsold on so many things in the past but not here. So if you are as stressed and unsure about where to take your vehicle, I promise this is a solid place to go! read more

DONT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP!!!!! I was duped out of $900 over the Christmas Holidays by this mechanic shop. My vehicle broke down and I had it towed to their shop (12/20/13). Monday (12/23/13) I was quoted about $160 for a minor repair. Before I could even walk out the door, the shop called with a totally diff prob/quote ($700). I picked up and paid (12/20/13) & less than 20 miles up the road my vehicle broke down. I called the shop and spoke with Randy who was rude, belligerent and blamed the shop's faulty car repair/diagnosis on me-the customer. Once again (not smart move on my part) I had my vehicle towed to Austin Mobile Mechanics only to have a totally different repair/diagnosis costing me over $150. Again, 20 miles up the road my vehicle broke down (12/24/13), I was stranded and after more than a week, the city red tagged it. I had no other option but to have it junked. As a result, I was unable to provide my chidren with a decent Christmas. I am out of a vehicle and the sad part is the shop will not refund my money.
