This repair shop, and owner, far and away exceeded my expectations in quality of service, customer service, and value. I spoke with the owner on the phone, and he gave me an accurate estimate, without all of the typical repair shop BS. He laid out what to expect, and they delivered way more. He even saved me almost $50 lass than what he quoted. While in the waiting area, the owner was on the phone with a prospective customer, he didn't BS the prospect. He advised the prospect that he wouldn't diagnose the prospects issue without first checking the car out. He then told the prospective customer that he doesn't want to earn his/her business that way. Hearing that meant so much, that he wants to earn new customers business through diagnostics and hard work. Three Points is a family own business and the owers when to extreme length to please me due to my lack of satisfaction with my vehicle poor gas mileage. *** They are satisfied only when they know the customers knows they done verything to address your vehicle issues ****. I wrote two reviews because I believe the timing belt they replace was the reason for poor gas mileage. The timing belt replacement was actually done CORRECTLY and proof is: in front of me they took all covers off the engine and timing belt, we inspected the preset manufacturer hash marks and they painted marks to aligned belt when was reassembled. Problem with the gas mileage persist, I do know the timing belt is NOT the root of the problem. My vehicle has 160,000 miles, all the TCL is not going to prevent it from New problems. TIME to move on and get a BRAND NEW CAR. I'm happy Three Point Automotive check what I thought was the problem. I will continue to use they mechanic services and will tell friends to use Three Points Automotive services. This guy reasoble and will work with you. Remember they are mechanics not musicians. Is there a problem they will at all angles to find the root problem. Work they did was done properly, coincidentally my high mileage car has a new problem. (Really a 4.5 rating) I learned about Three Points Automotive (TPA) through a colleague of mine who's BFF is the Owner's brother (Did you follow that?!). They have a good reputation in the community and the Yelp reviews were solid, so I figured why not give it a shot? I was an my wits end with car trouble from a nightmare Used-Car I had recently purchased on Airport Blvd. I had taken the car to Lamb's (those crooks tried to have me spend over $3k in repairs, so I ran out of there. Then I tried Pecan Lube, which treated me better but could not get to the root of my issues. Enter TPA! I called to explain my stresses and concerns about what I've been going through, and Caesar answered my call. He was a breath of fresh air! He spoke direct, seemed very sincere, and told me that although he couldn't promise anything, he would give it his best shot and be honest and fair. I told him that's all I could ask for right now and decided to bring the car in immediately. To make a long story short, he got to the root of my problem and tackled it head on. He was honest about other minor things that we should look into later on, but our main focus was getting the car running well again and passing inspection. I really appreciated how he kept constant communication, always called me back when he said he would and went over and above with ordering parts and the service aspect. After installing a new Throttle body and Ignition coils, my car is running so much better and doesn't have the original Idle issue nor the misfires coming from the engine. I'm definitely not out of the woods yet, but I can see the horizon and that's much more than anyone else at this point has been able to do for me. Update* The issue was not my tires, the road did that. This business over tightened my lug nuts which ruined the threads on the wheel studs. This is not an "honest mistake" this is a lack of training. Using impact tools on lug nuts should not happen , they should be torque'd to spec using a tool that measures torque applied like every other tire shop. "Professional and Experienced" could have prevented this, had it been the case , which it was not. Based on previous reviews I seem to have gotten the weekend crew or the short end of the stick. I was lured in by the great reviews and open schedule. I took my Subaru Forester down there as they agreed to use the oil and factory filtered I provided them. That was the smooth part which is why they earned 2 stars. I also asked them for a tire rotation which they did... fast forward to a month later. I got a flat tire and decided to replace all 4. Went to the local tire shop and it was explained to me that my lug nuts were over tightened. After removing the rims it was brought to my attention that in passenger side I had 3 out of 5 wheel studs mangled and my only option was to replace the studs now that the lug nuts had come off. So a $250 mistake because they overtightened my lugs and didnt say anything. Buyer Beware read more

A co-worker told me about this place when I could not make contact with the shop I previously took my car to. I needed to have a weld repair, which the previous shop did. It started to crack and cause an exhaust leak and after multiple times of trying to contact the owner there with no results, I gave up on that shop...PMP if you need to know. My co-worker told me to go check out 3 point automotive. He called Caesar, being that he has been taking his vehicles there for years. Caesar said his welder wouldn't be in until Friday, and I could bring my car in then. Well I didn't make it on Friday, and since I was in the area today, Saturday, I decided to stop in even if I did not have my car. I asked for Caesar, but he was not in, and the person I was talking to said to bring my car in and they could get it done. I had a picture of the cracked weld and showed it to the welder who was also present, and he said it would take about 20 min. Well I returned with my car, the welder took it up on the rack, did his thing and it was done! Quick and very polite guys there. I did see Caesar when I came back, but he looked busy so I didn't bother talking to him. He seems like a down to earth guy though as he and the person that originally helped me were talking about motorcycle riding...a Ducati at that! With years of using yelp there have been several times, because of good and bad experiences, that I have thought about actually writing a review. But after my experience at Three Points I knew it was finally time. I was going from Colorado to Florida, and was driving a bit out of the way to see some family in San Antonio. On my way down my Civic started acting poorly and I took it to the nearest Honda service center in Round Rock at about 2 in the afternoon. The next morning Honda looked at my car and told me that it would be $3,800 in repairs and would take 3 more days before it would be done. My Uncle has a friend in Austin who recommended I take it over to Three Points Auto and get a second opinion. I got there at about 12p, they had looked at it by 12:30. They said half the stuff that Honda had recommended was unnecessary and the rest would cost a fraction of what Honda quoted. $670 and less then 4 hours later I was on the road again headed to San Antonio. Later that day I realized they also did some cosmetic work on my bumper free of charge! Friendly, honest, and quick. What more could you ask for from a mechanic?!?! read more

Well, this may be my first official mechanic since I've moved to Austin 2 1/2 years ago. I go to Jiffy Lube for my oil changes and the Toyota dealership for recall issues (lol) They're totally legit! Friendly and honest. They had a lot of cars that were being worked on and I was freaking out about my stick shift getting stuck (I'll blame it on Starbucks for not putting the lid on all the way on my Frappuccino and thus spilling all over the inside of my car, including the console! :( ) so he had one of his guys look at take it apart, look at it and cleaned it. Cesar, Sergio, and the whole staff at Three Points are amazing! I had an engine replaced here after adifferent shop charged me for work that didn't fix the issue. Three Points Automotive not only double checked the work for free but they reassured me they could pull of an engine replacement, finding me an engine with only 19k miles. Once the work had been completed I was told keep an eye out for any issues that would need to be ironed out within the warranty period. The reasons that I lovelovelove Three Points Automotive are as follows: ~ Cesar and James are super personable and down to earth. ~ They do things on the timetable they promised and generally hit their estimate on the nose. (Yes, unexpected things do occur, but it's been rare.) ~ As a woman, I'm sensitive to the good ol' boy mechanic who's going to talk down to me because I'm female. I have never had that happen here. They explain what's going on, have shown me parts that need to be or have been replaced. They treat me like I want to be treated. Gone are the days when I have to send my husband to the car shop! ~ My son's car was recently totaled in an accident, and they gave me a tremendous amount of info about reliability and what I should look for in his next car. You can bet I'm bringing them the prospective replacement cars to check out before we buy! I'm all about an honest shop that treats its customers well.
