Got my car towed from one mechanic to this mechanic because the first one's fix didn't work and…read morethey don't do transmission work. The tow truck took a long time. Eagle was aware that it should have arrived, and the shop owner took the initiative to call me to check on the status before closing shop. Thankfully Eagle has a key drop, so the tow arriving after hours was fine. They must have looked my car over immediately the next day, because diagnostics were done quickly and I got a call early that morning. They kept me in the loop about the repair, explained what they were doing and why, answered the phone consistently to answer follow up questions I had, and went even more into detail about the repair when I arrived and asked additional questions about the mechanics of it. Just like a doctor who answers your questions, a mechanic who does the same helps put you at ease. It wasn't cheap (& what transmission work is?), but it was incredibly fast and I had my car back and repaired the same day diagnostics were run. Plus, the parts & labor came with a 1-year/12,000 mile warranty.

First, the repair took about a week. I understand this was a couple of weeks before Christmas (last year), and shops can be short staffed or dealing with employees being out sick. What I don't understand is why I had to call every single day just to get an update. Communication throughout the entire process was almost nonexistent. The day I picked up my car, I noticed a strong burning oil smell just before I got home. I immediately turned around and drove back to the shop, where they discovered they had forgotten to reinstall a transmission seal. As a result, transmission fluid had leaked all over my exhaust. When I got home, I checked the transmission fluid myself and found it was nearly empty. Running a manual transmission that low on fluid can cause serious and potentially permanent damage. I took the car to another shop to have the fluid topped off, and they also discovered that Eagle Transmission had forgotten to reinstall one of the exhaust bolts that had been removed during the clutch job. Unfortunately, the problems didn't stop there... I began experiencing hydraulic issues with the clutch and returned to speak with the owner, Scott. I explained my concerns, including the fact that the transmission had never been properly refilled after they corrected the leak. Rather than addressing the workmanship, Scott's response was, "Your transmission is a piece of sh*t. It has spray paint on it, which means it's from a junkyard. You need a transmission rebuild, and that'll cost you another $2,000." If that were true, and my transmission was in such poor condition, you would think they would have mentioned it before installing the new clutch instead of after I returned with problems. To make matters even more concerning, Scott didn't even know where the transmission dipstick was while we were discussing the fluid level. I was so frustrated and insulted, I had to walk out. After receiving advice with another Eagle Transmission location in Cedar Park and doing some research, I returned a few days later and simply asked Scott if they could bleed the clutch hydraulic system. Even after our debate I offered to pay for the service, but he flat out refused. I'm a very patient individual and rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with an automotive repair shop. Between the lack of communication, careless workmanship, missing hardware, a transmission left nearly empty of fluid, and the way my concerns were completely dismissed, I cannot recommend this location to anyone... especially if you own a manual transmission vehicle. I hope sharing my experience helps someone else avoid the frustration, wasted time, and unnecessary expense that I went through.

It was impressed on me that these repairs were critical for safety. The person on the phone even made comments about how glad they were that we were safe as the brakes were metal on metal, etc.The written estimate that arrived was much higher and still had these things listed as critical along with a few smaller issues. When I requested an itemized breakdown and compared parts prices to AutoZone retail, I found parts were marked up over 2x retail across the board. When I called to ask about this, prices dropped immediately without any additional information from me. It took them over night to send the original estimate but the new one arrived within minutes of my texting. I ultimately approved only the wheel bearing and lug stud repair and negotiated the price down. The actual safety critical item, one lug nut holding the wheel on, was buried after the full upsell menu was presented. Several items were listed as critical on that quote that they later said were not actually critical. I posted anonymously in a local group asking for honest mechanic recommendations. The owner identified me by my comments, I guess, and referenced my vehicle publicly to signal he knew who I was. I feel as if this might have been an attempt to get me to remove my anonymous post. Multiple other folks in the comments described identical experiences including false "metal on metal" urgency that softened the moment they pushed back. The work was done and we picked up the car this morning. The process to get to that point was frustrating. Since I only see good reviews I wanted to offer another perspective. The staff is very nice and the banter when we came in was fun. But nice is not the same as honest. I would advise anyone using this place to check retail prices of parts. And since they always offer better prices with push back, everyone who deals with them should question their prices. Some labor costs were good and some were listed at the high end for the area but not ridiculously so. The biggest price "padding" was in the parts themselves. The work seems good at this time, if you want to pay extra for parts in order to be treated nice in a fancy waiting room, I suppose it's worth it to pay more for that service but it's a nah from us. I always use synthetic oil and WIX oil filters. One or more yelpers have already mentioned they use 3rd world oil filters, which I just don't trust. If I'm going to get an oil change, I'll use a dealership and pay a little extra to get it done right. That's especially true if you have an expensive import car like a Lexus or BMW. So why am I here? I came here to get my inspection (normally I use Koenig lane inspections, but I was in this area) and at the first and end of the month you can expect to sit in a line at one of their three bays. However, it's also likely that car in front of you is going to get an oil change, which means you'll be waiting for that as well. Apparently, there is not one line for inspections and another for oil changes. With one car in front of me getting an oil change, my total wait time was over 20 minutes. Inside the office, you'll see a list of other services they offer along with free popcorn for waiting. There's a tip jar on the counter if you think they did a good job. Jerry did not do that repair, cab body mounts. You cannot go wrong bringing your vehicles here. GREAT SERVICE and PRICES!

I give them 5 stars because of how they responded to a warranty issue. Took my Infiniti I-35 to them to replace a bad catalytic converter. I picked up the car and after driving it a little bit noticed it still had problems relating to the cat. I took it back to them and they made it right. I left my car about 2 days this was in March and then I picked it up, they told me they fixed the leak, that the smell of oil would linger until the car had burned the oil that spilled down, I drove my car, and consistently saw leaks and smelled oil, I thought it was my AC water in the floor, I worked from home so I don't drive my car a lot, come July and the oil change light came on, it has never come on before, even when I had not changed my oil.. I took it to Excalibur for the oil change, I made an appt for 8AM as reccomended by the front desk guy James - I get there at 8, I greet him, he looks at me, doesn't greet me, no answer, he looks miserable, he just barks at me "last name?" I give him my last name, they take my car, I sit and wait. Another lady comes in and he's all the sudden all smiley and nice.. when my car is done. He barks at me that my car is done.. I go to pay, he tells me my car is leaking oil.. and that I could have blown the motor.. I tell him that I thought they had fixed that 3 months ago.. he looks surprised back tracks and says oh it's probably not the same leak.. the leak probably went to another weak spot- but to bring the car in again and they look at it- I do... he calls me and tells me that it's a different leak- I ask him that why didn't they fix it back then - he says my car is old, he tells me it's "100% on you" that I didn't call them sooner - James was super rude and standing behind subpar lazy service- he wanted to charge me upwards of $400 to fix the leak - I said no, took it to my other mechanic- my other mechanic said that the leak was visible and that they had only changed the top part and not the actual main leak on the car - never going back there again, James if you don't want to be professional and patient, even my boyfriend that doesn't know you said you were super rude to him when he went to drop of my car - just save everyone the agony of your services. I knew I wasn't gonna get my money back and I wouldn't trust my car back in their hands.. never again..

Buddha's Garage is the second one. Dave has the energy of a man who has looked directly into the screaming mechanical abyss of humanity and simply sighed, grabbed a wrench, and fixed it anyway. I swear half the vehicles in that shop arrive after being spiritually wounded somewhere else. Other mechanics will look at your engine like medieval doctors diagnosing ghosts. Dave looks at it once, tilts his head slightly like a jazz musician hearing a wrong note, and suddenly knows your alternator was installed backwards by somebody named Tyler in 2019. And here's the wild part: he's honest. Like deeply, suspiciously honest. The kind of honest that makes you uncomfortable because you forgot businesses could still operate without trying to sell you seventeen imaginary emergencies. Dave will straight up tell you cheaper alternatives, better options, things you can wait on, things you DON'T need. I almost wanted to ask him if he understood capitalism. The customer service feels less like a business and more like your truck wandered into a monastery where everyone took vows of kindness and diagnostic accuracy. Meanwhile other shops are out here playing roulette with socket sets: "Hmmm yes, perhaps your issue is... all of the parts." Then Buddha's Garage fixes it in an afternoon and somehow charges you like they still believe in human dignity. Also -- Dave knows an absolutely terrifying amount about vehicles. Not "guy who watches YouTube tutorials" knowledge. I mean ancient-library-hidden-under-the-desert knowledge. The kind where you start explaining the noise your car makes and he already knows the answer before you finish making the sound effect. At this point I'd trust Buddha's Garage with anything mechanical. My car. My lawn mower. A damaged submarine. If NASA called and said a shuttle was making a weird clicking noise, I'd probably hand them Dave's number. I'm going there no matter what. If I move across the state, I'll crawl back on flaming rims like a pilgrim returning to holy ground.

Location was easy to find and close to convenient stores or a coffee shop for waiting nearby. Honest, professional, competitively priced, I have no complaints. It's a locally owned family owned and run business that seems to always give to the community through other charitable endeavors. I feel pretty lucky to have found an ethical place to get my car repaired. They really are a breath of fresh air for the automotive repair industry.

I was out less than $300. The original repair of my turbo charger by another shop was less than perfect, and clamps had not been tightened properly.
