Phenomenal experience, Ross was communicative and the inspection thorough. They very easily could have nickel and dimed my repair, but they were honest and fixed the problem promptly. I was out less than $300. The original repair of my turbo charger by another shop was less than perfect, and clamps had not been tightened properly. ONE YEAR LATER... Once again I received outstanding customer service at Northwest Imports. I feel compelled to write a 2ND review to inform other customers that there is an auto repair shop that really cares about their customers. The first time I brought my car to Northwest was over a year ago, and I was so impressed by the employees, the service, and the price of my repair. Well the first visit was not a fluke. From the moment I walked into the shop on my 2nd visit, nearly a year later, I was greeted with a friendly hello, and a "how can we make your day better " welcome. The service manager, Bob, walked in from the garage and recognized me, and not only did he remember me he also remembered most of my service needs from over a year ago. I've gone to other shops on a more regular basis to change my oil, buy tires, and have my brakes fixed. I go to the same places, most of the same employees, and not once has someone remembered me to extent that Bob did. The other employees that I engaged with over the two-day repair were just as impressive. Ross was friendly and joined in the conversation with Bob and me. The service technician Rudy worked with Bob to diagnosis my cars problem. They fixed my car, and the repair was done on the day and time as promised. Andrew followed with instructions on how to pickup my car after hours. He texted me promptly and I had a seamless pickup. Just like my first visit to Northwest Imports the repair cost was lower than the estimate they gave me... Many of you will agree, this is unusual at auto repair shops. I would like to applaud this company. A moderate amount of work was done on my BMW X1, and although not inexpensive, it was less expensive than what Austin BMW quoted me. Also, there was a misquoted labor price assessment of one of the items to perform, and NW Imports corrected their mistake, and halved the labor cost that the repair required. I have a 2012 Acura MDX that had an electrical short that kept blowing fuses. Therefore, I had no Radio/DVD/Navigation/ backup cam, key locks, seat memory function, tailgate, fuel filler door, or any key fob functions. I had taken this car twice to David McDavid Acura and they could not diagnose the problem. I lived with the car in this electrically compromised condition for 8 to 9 months. I knew it was a direct short somewhere in the car. I then read the reviews on Northwest Imports. I was convinced to give them a try. THEY FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM THE FIRST DAY!!! Most of this was due to intuition and logic used by the tech assigned to my car, and strangely enough the short was in an area that I would have never guessed (under the steering column). The repair was not that hard, once diagnosed, and the cost was very reasonable. If you have a higher end luxury car with all the advanced electronics in them, then I would go no where else but Northwest Imports. Bob and his crew are extremely friendly and patient. I wanted to add a great review about NW Imports. I had a nagging "engine overheating" warning light that kept persisting on my 2016 Audi A6. I took it to NW Imports and they ran end to end diagnostics and could not replicate it but they suggested replacing the radiator sensor. They did not want to charge me more if it wasn't it but I approved. They guys at NW imports were great and I have NOT had a single false warning. I'll continue to take ALL my german cars to them. I am so thankful I found Northwest Imports! When I went to drive my car Wednesday morning, my engine light was blinking and my car was making a loud noise. After calling around with no availability for 2+ weeks, Northwest Imports was able to get me in the same day. I've had David and Andrew's shop work on all my German cars for years: my current driver Porsche, my wife's Mercedes and our daughter's BMW. They've also worked on our older Toyota and Honda. I needed an oil change for my Audi A4 and the dealership couldn't get me in for a month, was told I had to leave it for three days AND they had no loaners to offer customers until mid February 2022. The central display went out on my 2007 Prius recently. The one with the speedometer and gas gauge. Kinda important. Most auto shops don't work on electronic issues and will refer you to the dealership. Northwest Imports does. I called them in a panic and Bob, who answered the phone, said it'd be 2 weeks to get an appointment. But . . . customers do cancel and they would work me in when they could. So I had the car towed in and low and behold they were able to look at the car that day! The part had to be ordered, which was to be expected, but the bottom line is that they were able to take care of the problem and send me on my way very quickly. The service? Stellar. Bob's calm, self assured manner calmed me down. He answered all of my questions--I had a lot--and kept me informed along the way. He even got me into their loaner car the next day. (There are NO rental cars available because of--you guessed it--COVID.) It's an oldie, like mine, but it runs like a champ. Would I use them again? You bet! read more

We all know that as a woman it's hard to find a trustworthy mechanic for our cars. Yes, I can take it to the dealer where pay $150 for an inspection (might not have to pay but until the dealer looks at it, it will be 50/50 chance) or find a good personal mechanic, let them look at it as part of the service. I talked to David & he was very friendly on the phone and in person. He wrote me an estimate for front rotors & break pads. Estimated $540. Important thing is no sales pressure or try to put a fear in u to get the service done. Few days later I had some additional questions to ask, I called & he remembered me. I didn't have a chance to take my car in for the service but I can't wish my car break down so David can fix it. :) Customer service is totally awesome! They have always done great work for me and I liked them as people but the last time I spent $4600 on various repairs that should have been covered on my warranty and asked them if they could please have my existing warranty cover some of the work. They said they would call the warranty co. and that they could save me $500-$700 but they never called me back and I never saved the money. So for that case I can't go back now. They put the wrong spark plugs in my Mercedes GLC 300. When I confronted them they denied it and said Georgetown Mercedes screwed up not them. This is my first yelp ever and it's only because I'm so happy with this place. I've taken my car (2007 Mercedes E550..105,000mi) to Northwest Imports twice and here are my experiences so far. The first time was about 6 months ago for an oil change/service A and I also asked them to do a radiator flush. The oil change for Mobil 1 synthetic was only $56.00 with a first time customer coupon that I got in the mail about 7 years ago. I've kept it in my glove box and finally gave them a try. David (owner) called me to tell me that the radiator was checked and that it didn't need to be flushed!! Exciting news for me. I'd be REAL surprised to find another mechanic to be honest about that and not just do it anyway and charge the customer. The second time I took my car to them was just a couple of weeks ago. I took it in because one night the instrument cluster went out. No tach, speedometer, gauge light etc... When i woke up in the morning I was going to check fuses but the instrument cluster worked all of the sudden. However, the service engine light was on. So I took it to Northwest Imports. I didn't have a ride home so David's son Andrew was nice enough to take me back to my house. They checked codes and did a reset and fixed the problem. Then the following morning, Andrew DELIVERED my car to my house. After dropping Andrew back at the shop I was told there was NO CHARGE!! Long story short I feel as if I could take my car to these people and if they told me there was a list of problems and a $3000 charge I would believe them. This is a trustworthy family operation and that is a RARE find these days. Especially in the auto mechanic field. I really am thrilled to find Northwest Imports and would recommend them to ANYONE with an import. I believe German and Japanese are their specialty. I have been a customer at Northwest Imports for a little over 2 years. They have done 3 repairs for my '98 VW GTI. They have never given me anything but complete, quality service for a fair price. The two times NWI has had my car for more than 2 days, they have paid for me to have a rental so that I would not be without some mode of transportation. This last visit is what prompted me to review the company. I was cruising on a Sunday afternoon when my car simply stopped working. I immediately had it towed to the guys up at NWI, and received a phone call the following morning (as they are closed on Sunday). I thought it was a timing belt issue. As it turns out, it was my timing belt, which happened to be one of the things I had them replace at my first repair. The break in the timing belt was due to my improper care of the belts around the timing belt; when a belt broke, a piece caused the timing belt to slip and then break. Nonetheless, these guys not only replaced the belt UNDER WARRANTY, but they also replaced all of the damaged valves, gave me new gaskets, fixed my manifold stud bracket, changed the oil and patched my tire; All to the tune of UNDER WARRANTY. These guys know how to take care of their loyal customers, and I would recommend these guys to anyone with an import. read more

I own an A4 Audi 2008 and am really glad i could find a dealership alternative for my Audi. To begin with david the owner seemed to know more about the vehicle than my service adviser / technician at the dealer ship. I took my car to dealership when i received a CEL(for no fault of the car but bad service done at dealer ship leaving an extra bolt when valve cover gasket was replaced) and they couldn't identify what caused it without they having to tear apart the cylinder head and for which they gave me a ridiculous estimate of $1600 (only diagnosis - no repair). I had no choice but to take my care to NW imports and to my surprise the way they approached the problem and diagnosed the root cause( at $89) was simply very professional and honest. Only reason i haven't given them the Extra star is because i haven't had scheduled maintenance/service done yet from them , needless to mention i will add the extra star after that. read more

Once again, great service on a recent visit so thought I would acknowledge with this posting. I arrived early on a Monday morning. No appointment. Car idling badly all of a sudden that weekend. Ordinarily just figured I'd have to leave it all day and probably have to rent a car in the interim. But they took a few minutes to check it out before I did all that and sure enough, turned out to be a simple and easy tweak that was done on the spot. No charge even. We took our 16 Macan Turbo in for an oil change, i requested the wiper blades to be replaced and also explained that we were pressed for time b/c we were driving back to Houston. They were very accommodating to us, their service prices smoked the dealer and other porsche shops i had called previously. I wish i knew of them before i got rid of my C2 Cab a few months ago. I have been going to NW Imports for 15 years. It has always been a family business and run by an honest and competent family. Today I went and was very disappointed in the work, analysis, explanation, and price. $300 for 2 hours work to un-stop a condensation leak and a $1,500 estimate to "take out all the carpet and reinstall it" on my Cayenne. Saying that the "whole side was flooded" etc. Well, I think is only slightly damp when I took it but I will give them the benefit of the doubt. However, what I do know, is that only about 1 square foot is soaked and the carpet does not have to be ripped out to dry it. A blow dryer will take care of it. I guess the family is relying on too many employees of late. It's a shame. When trust is lost, goodwill follows. Rick Migoni read more

Most importantly, they are very friendly, honest people value relationships and their customer's best interest. They are always very upfront about what they suspect the problem is and how much time and cost it will take to fix it. They are very communicative when the outlook changes based on the situation under the hood, offering timely suggestions and options without up-selling. Several times they have indicated parts that are about to become problematic, giving me a chance to prep for the expense a little further down the road. Their turnaround time is always good, and they tend to meet or come in well under time estimates. On several occasions I have expected to be without a vehicle for several days and they have turned it around in less than one. Their work is great and their prices are fair. Had brought my car to have work done before and trusted shop as it's a family run business and David and his wife are very sweet. I was happy with the previous work and saved some money compared to what the dealer would charge for my car. This has all changed with the son taking over the business. Believe he thinks he's running a mini-mercedes dealership minus all the perks, loaners cars, and ambiance you would find at a real dealer. The shop barely saved me any money on the work done, I was without my car for 3 days, they didn't offer a loaner car, plus I had to pay out of pocket for a ride share to get back to work. I essentially paid a 80% markup for labor which is insane (checked price for parts on multiple online sites and called Mercedes dealership to get a price quote). I was a loyal customer and attempted to negotiate with Andrew multiple times but got nothing back... so will not be coming back. read more

Best body shop in Austin HANDS DOWN!! Highly highly recommend!! A friend, her family and their neighbors have been customers with Northwest Imports for many years and I completely see why. I took my 5 year old BMW in for service and they notified me that the issue in question was a recall and directed me to the dealership to resolve so as not to be charged as well as alerting me to the fact that because of its age other alerts will start to trigger...i.e. brake service light...they did examine the brakes and because it had super low mileage ....15,000+ miles for only 5 years of use...it still had a good set of miles left on them. Of course they provided the option to reset and change the sensors as well as change out the brake pads but were honest in telling me it's not high priority at this time. The brake light did end up triggering a couple of months later as they anticipated, right before having to take it in for an oil change. While I was having my oil changed at the dealership I purchased my car from they notified me that I need to change the brakes now. I told them no...I wasn't having any problems and that they were just checked and I still had a good several miles on them...he then changed his tune and admitted there was still another 3,000 or more miles use from them (really there was more mileage out of them) but that I need to just watch out for that. Mmmhm...really mister? I ended up having to go back to Northwest Imports a year &1/2 later for something that same dealership did with an oil change that created some havoc with my car. They again went above and beyond to find out what happened, fix the dealerships major mishap for me, check for any possible further damage that may have occurred which allowed me to successfully appeal to the dealership for compensation. It was comforting to know they were again completely supportive of my decision and honest about what happened with my car. They were thorough in providing me with estimates for both the minimum and maximum amount of work to be done that I can comfortably afford without breaking the bank, as well as timelines to re-address other issue that may/will occur due to the aftermath of the oil leak. I appreciate them so much for everything they have done for me and my friends. Since my first visit I've referred them to other friends whom also experienced excellent service with them. I cannot say enough good things about them so go and experience it for yourself!! I never believed in a truly "honest" and good mechanic before but I have to say they are the real deal. One day I took my Volvo (a veteran of foreign wars and interstate travels) here mostly because of the shop's proximity. Since then, fate and circumstance and intuition have turned me into a repeat customer. Simply put, I can confidently stumble into Northwest Imports with my failing car and blind trust and know that whatever the diagnosis or price quote, it will be fair, honest, and in my best interest. They've never pulled the "I can't in good conscience let you drive out of here without replacing your {insert expensive car part here}" spiel that some mechanics (chains and dealerships, usually) have attempted with me. They do solid work and their prices are reasonable (their repair estimates compare favorably to what I could find on the Internet). Several times they've referred me to another mechanic or specialist (a body shop one time; a muffler shop the other) because the business they referred me to could do a better job or had access to cheaper parts. Also, its perhaps the only mechanic I've patronized that keeps their waiting room stocked with complimentary Gatorade (instead of miniature bottled water). I had a cold bottle of Gatorade fruit punch this one summer day while waiting for an oil chance. It was refreshing. read more
