My regular mechanic said "You need to see a transmission specialist" As scary as Halloween but, Eagle Transmission made it more like Thanksgiving. I brought my 2011 Ranger in, they were able to diagnose a substantial fluid leak and gave a very reasonable estimate. Not the "you need a new transmission" estimate that I was expecting. Got my car towed from one mechanic to this mechanic because the first one's fix didn't work and they don't do transmission work. The tow truck took a long time. Eagle was aware that it should have arrived, and the shop owner took the initiative to call me to check on the status before closing shop. Thankfully Eagle has a key drop, so the tow arriving after hours was fine. They must have looked my car over immediately the next day, because diagnostics were done quickly and I got a call early that morning. They kept me in the loop about the repair, explained what they were doing and why, answered the phone consistently to answer follow up questions I had, and went even more into detail about the repair when I arrived and asked additional questions about the mechanics of it. Just like a doctor who answers your questions, a mechanic who does the same helps put you at ease. It wasn't cheap (& what transmission work is?), but it was incredibly fast and I had my car back and repaired the same day diagnostics were run. These days you can never really tell if a review is legit or not. Everyone gives five stars as their lives depend on it. When I searched for a reputable shop based on Yelp reviews I found Eagle Transmission. Did you know they have several locations? Anyways, that's not really relevant to my review. What is, though, is the reviews on Yelp were pretty much spot on. The staff are super friendly and straight forward about what they found during their diagnosis which I greatly appreciate. My only "issue" was the timeframe for the diagnosis which took about three days to get to. (Dropped off Thursday morning, got an update on Monday afternoon.) Now, to be fair. He did say he wouldn't be able to get to it until the end of day Thursday so I shouldn't count that. They're not open on the weekends so that's why it was Monday for an update. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and I was referred to a general mechanic to help me with the issues they couldn't address directly. Final thoughts, don't be an ass to the mechanic(s) and staff if your car is having issues. Much like you don't blame the doctor for your health problems because they aren't the cause of them. They're there to help you get it addressed. TL;DR? - I went to this shop based on the reviews and for once the [reviews] were spot on. Read them all including the replies. Four stars. Our truck was acting weird to the point we were convinced it was the transmission. Eagle Transmission ran a free diagnostic which identified the issue as a sensor, and recommended we go to the shop that shares their building. Five stars for quickly and efficiently providing a free diagnostic and referring to a company that could address the issue. Last year I went to a different shop for an issue with our Honda and paid $165 for a diagnostic, just to be told they couldn't fix the issue. So I am pleased with our treatment at Eagle and we will definitely come here if we do have transmission issues. read more

Dan and Michael were very professional. I had a transmission swap done on my 2010 Ford fusion, which was their recommendation. I chose that over the cheaper alternative of rebuilding the current one because, rebuilds can end up being more costly in the long run. These guys even replaced the three engine\trans mounts with no extra labor costs. I just had to pay for parts. There was an issue with the main connector to the transmission, after the work was done, however Dan and Michael addressed the problem and fixed it right away. Dan even threw in a 5 year/unlimited mile warranty on the connector. I'm definitely recommending this place to all I know. After driving it for 300 miles I took it in for a free check up, that validates the warranty, and it was good to go. The car drives like new. read more

I called and spoke to Dan about my rear main seal on my Tacoma. I know they're a transmission shop, but automotive repair shops were telling me much costs and they would need my truck for more than a couple days. Since most of the labor involved is dropping a drive Shaft and transmission I figured I'd call a transmission shop. I called Thursday morning, and Damn let me know if I could drop it off sometime Thursday he'd have it done by Friday! I asked him to go ahead and service the transmission while he had it. Dan called me around 1 Friday to let me know it was ready. Once I got there though I noticed it was still on the lift. I dropped my 2010 Honda Accord off today for a simple drain and fill transmission service. For such a simple service they may not make an appointment for you so they will just ask you to drop the car off and they'll have it done at some point during the day. I did ask for the specific Honda transmission fluid as opposed to another brand which I gladly paid a little more for. They notified me less than three hours later as my wife and I were wrapping up a shopping trip that the car was ready. The service was just $117 compared to the dealership cost of $100 more. The color and the level of the fluid was exactly where it should be. I'll definitely be back in the next 25K to 30,000 miles. read more

I've got my old school F250 "brick-nose" in here. I'll keep you posted, but so far they have been keeping in contact with me so that is a bonus in itself. ***UPDATE*** got the truck back sooner than expected. Truck shifts really nice. The neutral safety switch needs to be adjusted because I can't start the truck in park. I found It also had a broken speedometer cable, which worked before I brought the truck in, but the truck is old and these things happen. I don't believe this was related to the actual work performed, but would have been easy do diagnose when transmission was being tested and would have saved me a lot of time and grief. The neutral safety switch... that should have been caught (my only negative). Considering the other two places I had my truck at, I should have come to Eagle first. Overall, the truck is running really good and shifting perfectly. It cost a little more than I expected, but you get what you pay for (3yr/36k warranty). Consider me a customer for life! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE HERE! First, I am a pretty laid-back guy, and it takes a lot to get under my skin. One of those things is when someone tries to STEAL from me or they say one thing with the intent to defraud me. Even for 1.00 this is unacceptable. Took my car to Eagle Transmission Pflugerville. There were up-sales and "extras" that I "needed" on two cars. When my Charger was rear-ended, insurance paid for repair to my axel. "1/2 day tops" Dwight said. "We will schedule it and get the parts." I said, I will tell the insurance people I need the rental car for one day. Of course they didn't meet the deadline, and from what I understand, this is a VERY common practice with them. Total of the insurance check was 898.00 That is the price they quoted me for parts, labor, tax, out the door. That is the 100% estimate that Dwight quoted me. That I gave to the insurance company, that they paid. During the repair, he informed me that my bearings were looking "worn" and if I wanted to buy the hubs at 149.00 ea. he would put them on with NO LABOR CHARGES. I said, OK. Hubs were 313.00 total for the pair for parts and tax. During the repair, they ripped a boot and had to replace it. (In retrospect, I'm actually surprised they didn't try to stick me with that bill as well.) Because of their error, Dwight told me the repair would take longer. I reminded him of the rental and how I had it for only one day. He said he would "knock it off my bill" When I went in to get my car, and the total was 898 + 313. I said, what about the extra day of rental? He said, "I knocked 80.00 off your bill." I asked "Where?" You got the check for the full price of the axel and you are charging me full price for the hubs." He said, "I can't reduce the price of the hubs so I knocked it off the labor of the axel." I said, "I just paid you full price for the axel." He INFLATED the price of the insurance repair by 80.00 AFTER getting the check so that he could reduce it BACK to the amount of the check. (Does that make sense to you?) I didn't want to argue and we were not talking about that much money. So I paid full price and took the car. On the way home, I noticed my trip meter (I use to check my mileage) had been reset to zero. (I'm guessing to hide how far they drove my car.) There was a very loud metal-on-metal grinding noise coming from the rear wheel, loud enough to hear, literally, from 20 yards away. And I noticed the factory enamel paint on my rear wheels was damaged by an idiot that doesn't know how to use an impact wrench... Or an idiot that wasn't paying attention to what he was doing. (I am sure everyone knows what that looks like) When I returned the next day for the "warranty work", he said he heard me pull in, as the sound was very loud. They took off the wheel and examined the brakes and brake pads. They were fine. He said, sometimes a rock will jump up in the brakes and cause issues. I was thinking a "metal-on-metal grinding sound from a rock?" But again, I let it go. I informed him of the damage to my wheels and showed him photos of what the wheels looked like before I put them on the car two months prior. He shook his head and took pictures. Although dirty from the rain storm, the factory paint was pretty obvious. He said he would check on it with corporate. When they took off the wheel and brake, NOTHING fell out of my wheel or brakes. When his mechanic put everything back together after discovering NOTHING. Dwight told me that I would need a new rotor and new pads and he recommended aa brand the shop used. He said this would cost me 130.00 in parts and he would cover the labor. Reluctantly and suspiciously, I told him to order the parts, On the way home, I noticed that the grinding noise stopped. The "mechanic" apparently corrected whatever error he did the first time because the sound was gone. While driving home, I called and cancelled the repair. It occurred to me that he was trying to sell me parts I DID NOT NEED for something that THEY HAD CAUSED! But I let that go too. I called him the next day, and asked about the wheels. He said that his mechanic said the wheels were "banged up" when I came in and he "didn't damage them." I said, "So your mechanic is calling me a liar, because I am definitely calling him one. That damage was done with an impact wrench in your garage." He said "Nobody is calling anyone a liar." He went on to say, the paint was not factory and "corporate" would not allow him to fix them. If I say it is factory paint, and you say I am lying, isn't that calling me a liar? I would offer to clean the rims off and bring the car back in so that he could see, but really, I know he will not take responsibility for the actions of his people and his only goal is to gouge his customers. All of these things are petty and minor, but I don't like being ripped off, being lied to, or being called a liar. On to facebook to post this with pics. read more

So I was referred here by another shop because I was told I had a transmission leak near my transmission pan. (2007 Lexus ES 350 - purchased a week ago) Naturally I wanted a second opinion before I shelled out $1300.00. Willie, told me he doubted there was a leak in that location as he rarely sees leaks there. I don't work on cars so I wouldn't have known either way! He sprayed cleaner in the area and let it dry. NO leak! Just possibly something that was spilled from a previous job and it must have dripped down in that transmission area. They charged me ZERO dollars! ((Bear in mind that other shop (I'll leave their name off here) was ready get right to work on my car)) Honesty and integrity are morals I live by. Called and talked to Stuart about a transmission problem with my van. He told me to bring it in and that there was no charge for diagnostic. Dodge dealer wanted $90.00 to tell me WHAT, if anything was wrong. Turns out the transmission was fine, and that I had a broken engine mount and transmission mount. This review is for gear heads who want great performance...you know who you are. I got this build over 4 years ago, and am very pleased. I have a 2013 Yukon Denali with the 6.2 and 6l80 transmission. Anyone who knows about this transmission, knows it has lots of problems, from the factory. I had a tune on my truck, and at 40,000 miles, I could tell the transmission was not shifting cleanly. 6l80s have problems with torque converters breaking, and trashing transmissions. Most tuning programs, get great performance by reprofiling the torque management. Instead of fixing the weaknesses of their transmissions, GM limits the initial amount of torque applied, during each shift. Just getting rid of GMs torque management will make your truck a lot faster. Unfortunately doing that will shorten it's already limited life. If you're doing a tune you'll definitely want a good performance build. 6l80s also don't apply equal force on their clutches, and they typically crack their clutch hubs. I had been watching Circle D Transmission (Houston area)videos, about their builds, and really wanted a build like their's for my 6l80. I scoured the Austin area, for anyone who knew how to do this build. Finally another transmission shop said "Oh, you want to talk to Eagle Transmission in Pflugerville". This review only applies to the Pflugerville Eagle Transmission Shop. After my first phone call, I knew found my shop. We did a full Sonnex up grade (fixes all clutch and shifting problems). They tac-welded the back of the clutch hubs (no other shop I called in Austin, even knew how to do this). They replaced the 5 single sided clutches with seven double sided clutches. I also had them install a billet torque converter (close to stock... maybe a couple hundred rpm higher stall). I'm running an out of the box, Predator tune, with their luxury firm shift profile. I believe it will easily hold up to any shift profile they offer. Transmission is now very stout, and dead reliable. It took several thousand miles to break the clutches in. I had to reset my ECM, a four times, until it broke in, but when it did, boy howdy. Now it's good for up to 550 rear wheel horsepower. It shifts like a dream. I can pound on it all day, and it's happy as a clam. It's spot on shifts, make it a lot faster as well. It swaps gears like nobody's business. On top of that, they even fixed my cruse control, for free. Sweeeeeeet. Doing a performance build, costs more, but worth every penny. If you haven't had a proper performance built tranny, you don't know what you're missing. If you had put a tune on your truck, and blew your 6l80, get this build. It's like night and day. It should be your first mod. Even though it doesn't increase horsepower, with the right tune, you'll swear it does. Even though the torque converter, is close to stock stall, it knocked off a couple tenths to 60. It launches a bit harder, and its quick, positive shifts, are also responsible for that. If someone is pulling even with you, and everything else is the same, you're always going to gap them when it shifts. If you don't know what I am talking about, but have a 6l80 transmission, and want your transmission to preform at its best, and likely outlast your truck...get them to do this build!!! It's just that good. These guys are the real deal!!! They turned my gear bag into a proper gear box. read more

We are very happy campers after our most recent visit to Eagle Transmission! My husbands grandparents (who are in their late 80's) have been without transportation for several months due to an unknown transmission issue. They live in San Antonio and we live in Leander but when we heard it was a transmission issue we figured it would definitely be worth our time to tow the car from San Antonio allll the way over to Eagle Transmission. We were right! Not only did the job get done well, it got done quickly and the cost was lower than we'd expected. Before they took it apart, Dan Pedroza (The owner of the shop) called me with his ideas about what was causing the issue and explained the workings of the part that he suspected was malfunctioning. ( I LOVE these educational calls!) At that point I gave him authorization for services totaling HIGHER than the bill ended up being. In my experience other shops would have gone ahead with the higher amount... but when the fix ended up being cheaper, Dan seemed PLEASED to call and let me know! I also asked him to take a general look at the car to see if there was anything else that needed to be fixed before we took the car back to San Antonio and they changed the oil, got it aligned, did a front brake job and a few other things as well. The car runs like new now! My husband and I have actually been doing business with Dan (the owner) for about ten years now, first at his prior place of employment - Automotive Specialists in Round Rock and most recently at Eagle Transmission, which he now owns! We are both pretty crazy about the care and keeping of our vehicles and Dan has is the only guy we trust to make sure things get done the right way. Together my husband and I have owned 8 vehicles in the last 10 years ( Did I mention we are automotive junkies?) and NONE of them has been touched at a shop that did not have Dan at the helm. There are few things as rare as an honest mechanic, but Dan, Dale, and the rest of the crew are as honest as they come. I had an issue with my 4Runner not going into gear. It was a one time event, but the truck was shifting hard as well. So before I ended up stuck on the side of I35 with a dead transmission I decided to be proactive and have Eagle transmission diagnose and repair the problem. Dan was friendly and professional from the start. He took my keys and told me it would be a couple hours to check it out and that he would call with the diagnosis. Two hours later Dan called to tell me that there was nothing wrong with my Transmission and that I had an ignition problem. The fix was a new coil pack which was only $56 !!! Most any other shop would have "fixed" my transmission for $1500 and sent me home. There is no substitute for honesty and Eagle Transmission has the most honest shop in town! read more

I've now been to Eagle Transmission twice, even though I live nowhere near Pflugerville, because I receive exceptional service at a place I can trust. I have a 2002 VW Cabrio, so something is always going wrong with my car. I thought I had a serious transmission problem when I couldn't get my car to go into first gear. I took it to Eagle, and it turns out it was a couple of bad bolts causing the problem. I drove out of there with the problem sorted and my wallet happy. The second time, I had a bad alignment issue that was diagnosed by another shop who wanted a lot more money than I was okay paying. Eagle worked with me to get affordable parts for my control arm, sorted out my alignment with the shop next door, and charged me a reasonable rate. I'm happy to make the drive to Pflugerville to have these guys work on my car anytime. read more
