Synopsis: Knowledgeable, dependable, good prices. Glad I chose them. After my Tundra factory engine overheated and died, from unknown causes, I got quotes and information from a number of places. All the others wanted more money to replace the engine and were only offering used engines with over 100,000 miles on them. Jacob gave me a firm price on a new engine with a fantastic 3 year 100,000 mile nationwide warranty. His price on a new engine was LOWER than the other places wanted for putting in an old, used engine. Jacob and his crew completed the work in a timely fashion and there were no extra or hidden charges; everything was up front and easy to understand. Bought a remanufactured engine for a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe from them and had it installed locally. Scott was excellent and reached out several times to make sure I was as informed as possible. Price of the remanufactured engine with zero miles and corrected deficiencies was about the same as buying a used one with 50k+ miles from a junk yard. read more

I can't speak to vehicles but do NOT take your boat here!! Jacob is full of crap and clueless. Told me my boat would be done in two weeks. Numerous times told me it was done over the next 4+ months, flew into town to pick up boat each time to find out it wasn't done. Paid him $7k and eventually had to just pick my boat up incomplete and take it elsewhere because I was tired of the run around, crappy work and lies. Asked numerous times for a detailed invoice of work that was done. He's never provided anything. So unprofessional! I have now taken it to a legit boat shop and they have found several things that Patriot did incorrectly and I have now filed a lawsuit. Stay away from these idiots! read more

I dropped by with a friend who was going to get an engine installed by Patriot. I filled out a form indicating I am looking for a transmission for my old truck. 2 weeks go by and I don't hear anything so I call and speak with the owner. He asks me for the info and I give it to him. Been 2 more weeks and no call. If they want my business I figured they would call. How did it go for my friend with his car? I wanted to wait a year before I wrote this review. I guess I was thinking "what if I need a warranty repair"? Well, I'm on Yelp today and I have been so pleased with their work I think it is time to give them their 5 stars. Listen, if you need an engine I DOUBT you could find a BETTER place than this one. I was reflecting on the fact that my Acura has a newer engine and that it drives newer but also I have not have to come back to tweak anything! I mean the car had everything working as it should; they put it back together well. Honestly, if you are ever in the unfortunate position of considering a new engine give them a try. I bought a 2009 Chevy Silverado with a bad motor on the cheap. I did my research on many engine companies and one would have great sales with no follow through where the others would have legit service and don't give a damn whether you existed or not. You have a blown engine and they know you need them!!! Why the need for good customer service?? I have been following Patriot Engine and Transmission reviews for a couple years. I was very exited to test this whole thing out. The phone picked up first ring. It was one of the mechanics and they said Jacob would call me back. Within minutes (the owner operator of Patriot) Jacob called me back. He quoted me over the phone with a few different options and they were all reasonable. I owned my truck for literally 30 minutes and Jacob got it picked up in Lockhart and brought back to their shop in Pflugerville. The whole process took about a week and I must admit I was the impatient one! I mean come on. A MAN WITH A NEW ENGINE!! I WANT IT NOW!!! I had to relax and assure these guys didnt stress over my impatience. After about 7 business days my truck was alive and well. I've had no issues with the new Jasper motor and truly appreciate all the hard work and customer service that was given to me and my truck. Don't go anywhere else!! These guys are truly the best!! My concise review: Jacob and staff are "over the top" friendly, and more than willing to discuss their work in detail. Their prices are very reasonable, and I would highly recommend them to all, especially for major engine work. The engine in my '99 MX5 Miata needed rebuilt. I noticed that Patriot Engine had some very positive online reviews, so I emailed Patriot for a quote. I received a prompt response from Jacob with a very reasonable quote for a rebuilt long block, including a repair time estimate. I made an appointment, and Patriot performed the work. After picking up my car, I had some minor issues which Patriot diagnosed and fixed promptly, without question at no charge. Then (unrelated to the engine rebuild), I had a "check engine" light that Patriot diagnosed as a problem with the EGR valve (carbon deposits) . Patriot recommended that I might minimize cost by using some fuel system cleaner added to the gas tank. It didn't clear the light, so Patriot cleaned the valve at a reasonable charge. My only complaint is that there were some communication slips between Jacob, the front desk staff, and customer. A very minor issue when weighed against 10 star customer service, prompt email responses outside of normal business hours (wow!), and outstanding engine expertise. P.S. Admittedly, this review is LONG overdue (and will be long and thorough). I've been going to Patriot Engine with ALL of my automotive needs since 2011 and have only had great experiences. I will only take my vehicles to Jacob and his team and have recommended all of my friends to go there. This is a long, detailed post. Please read it, but if you're looking for the condensed version, here it is: Jacob is the most honest, polite, and reliable automotive shop owner in all of central Texas. Him and his wife have helped keep my business running, saved me thousands of dollars, and go absolutely above and beyond to provide the best automotive service. THEY'RE SHOP EXCEEDS ALL EXPECTATIONS. And take it from a party bus company owner, they blow all their competition out of the water. Now here's a little about me: I own a small fleet of party busses (3 vehicles), and two personal vehicles, so I always have some work to be done. I first found Patriot Engine when my engine went out in one of my party busses. They did a full engine replacement for literally thousands of dollars less than any other quotes I received from other shops. They walked me through everything and were very upfront with where my money was going and where they could save me money. And that's where my relationship with Jacob and his wife Crystal began. Over the past 4 years I've taken all of my vehicles to their shop and here's a snapshot of the honest and excellent service I received: When I owned my 2004 Chevy Malibu the low brake fluid light came on. Brakes Plus told me it was a sign that I needed a full brake job done, costing me $800+. Then after taking it to be looked at by Jacob at Patriot, he inspected the vehicle and found that the brake fluid level was just a little low and told me I had several more years of use from my current brakes. He refilled it for free saving me all of that money. When I got my 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, it sits lower to the ground and got some damage after the front end got stuck on a high sitting parking space curb. A body shop told me a front end framing piece had been bent and was cracked, replacing that part would cost me around $1,400. After Jacob took a look at it, he saw the piece that was bent did not actually crack and Patriot Engine bent it back in place for me and reinforced it, saving me $1,200 on that repair. I've done two bus engine replacements, AC repair, transmission replacement, suspension work, electrical work, part replacement, and have literally replaced everything under the hood. All the repairs hold up, and any warranty I've gotten have always been upheld on their end. And as far as how awesome Jacob and Crystal are, they have always been happy to come to the rescue. My vehicles have broken down at my house and they have come out to do on-site repairs when needed. They've also dropped my vehicles off if I was unavailable. And they've come in to help me in times of emergency on weekends or late nights to help keep my business running. All this while SAVING ME THOUSANDS of dollars? They're fantastic. Here is an interesting review: Patriot Engine replaced the engine on my 2003 F-150 4.6 liter crew cab in 2008 after the engine blew at 125,000 miles. I've put 100,000 miles on the remanufactured engine, and it continues to run like a top. I may be having them replace the engine on my Class C RV soon. read more

No way! Big fat negative stars for this place. My experience led me down a path of lots of money and a busted vehicle. I have been unable to reach the owner Jacob and have called and stopped in numerous times. It is obvious that he is avoiding me. It's ok though because he will be served papers soon enough. The guys at Patriot Engine Installation have saved my beautiful 2002 Cadillac DeVille from being sold for scrap, and have also renewed my faith in honest auto repairmen. This vehicle is in 99% showroom condition, but had an engine full of water instead of oil; a combined result of poor manufacturer design and improper maintenance by the previous owner. The business owner is Jacob Loyd. Mr. Loyd is honest, straightforward and always immediately responsive when I contact him, and, unlike most auto repair places, he has no problem communicating via e-mail. He replaced the bad engine in my big daddy caddy with a used engine and gave me a 1-year warranty on the parts and labor. He told me it would take about 8 business days to complete the job, but when I asked him if he could do it in less than half the time so my wife and I could drive it to a wedding at the end of the week he agreed with no hesitation or lack of confidence that it could be done - and indeed it was ready within 3 days of the used engine arriving from his supplier. The service was excellent and the price was right. I also own a Malibu and an F150, and Patriot Engine has certainly earned all my future business to ensure my fleet keeps rolling! read more

My husband and I have brought 2 of our cars to Patriot Engine for repairs in the past and really cannot say enough nice things about them to our friends. They are honest and upfront with you about diagnosing your car and explaining what needs to be done and do not try to up-sell you anything that you really don't need. That is probably the number one reason that we keep coming back and recommend our friends and family take their vehicles there. My husband trusts their work so much that he often refers his customers to this shop for their repairs (he is a tow truck driver). Was on the fence about replacing my engine, but was more cost effective to get a low mileage used one since my Xterra is paid off and in good shape. The work was excellent, visually you can barley tell that the engine has been replaced. Stellar job all around. They found some other items that needed to be addressed while the engine was out and fixed them as well. Went the extra mile, totally worth it. Overall very pleased with the work, and experience. okay so i was referred to this place by a friend for when i was trying to buy a car. I took the car to a different place first and they wanted to do a bunch of unnecessary things to it. While telling my friend about it she said i should take it to patriot engine and that they would not jerk me around, they wouldn't over charge me or fix unnecessary things. When my son's 6.8L V10 engine in his 1999 F250 with 244K miles on it started blowing clouds of white smoke out the exhaust, I was really struggling as to what to do. I called around to a few engine/machine shops and was really disappointed in the advise I received, which was basically just a quote to replace the head gaskets. When I talked with Jacob though, he spent the time with me to walk me through the possible causes, but of course, would have to take a look at the truck. After his guys, Frank and Omar had time to investigate the issue, Jacob called me up and walked me through my options and the Pros & Cons of each. With his help, I was able to make an informed decision on my next steps, and opted to replace the entire engine. A crate V10 is not cheap by any means, but Jacob's quote was very reasonable. In the end, they did a great job, at a very reasonable price, and I will gladly return should I ever be in need of major engine work in the future, and I have no hesitation referring my friends and family to Patriot Engine either! read more

Absolutely DO NOT take any car or truck here. I had a motor replaced here less then a year later the motor went out and they would not honor the warranty. They gave me a new motor at a discounted price however the check engine light came on and the refuse to fix it its only been 2 month since they replace the motor. read more

I had an engine with a bad lifter in a 2008 Chevy Suburban. Still needed the wagon for a couple more years but didn't want to buy another new big car. Found Patriot Engine. These guys were great. They presented all the options honestly on the necessary engine replacement and completed the work in a timely manner. Service after the initial replacement was also very good to address any small issues that came up. My suburban runs like new at a significant savings over the dealer cost. And I told them About this place so that he can put a review of his own. The same guy that worked on his car worked on mine. And he is a raceist. So for him to say he's not. Not the owner but the employee who installs the engine. And I don't know who the owner is talking about but its not me. So everybody with their own opinions.
