My Blazer had gotten a slip in the gears and was slow to go into gear in the mornings. I knew this was caused by old transmission fluid and that the Drain/Fill had been done only a few years early. Time for a filter change. I called all of my usual places I go for lubes/filters ... Minute lube, Mister Sunshine, etc. Just looking to find someone to simply drain and fill my transmission, but also change the filter. I was told it would be $99 for a drain and fill, but no new filter. As none of my usual stops could do it ... I asked them who would be a good suggestion. They said "Transmission Shop"? Okay. So I went to Yelp and looked up Transmission shops in Round Rock. Called the first one Yelp recommended which was A Plus Transmissions. They asked a few questions and I told them what I wanted. They said they would gladly do it and scheduled me for the next morning at 11 am. Nice thing was, they are only charging $19.99 and 22 point check. WOW!!! They were so nice and walked us through what they were going to do and estimated time. They were off on the time, but for the cost ... I was thrilled! An hour and a half later we were on the road and the Blazer was driving like it was supposed to again. These folks took the proper amount of time to review my vehicle and even let me know what other codes my Blazer was showing so I could take it to my mechanic. Transmission rebuilt 3/30/24 at 138xxx did a great job and fast. Unfortunately 5/4/25 at 144xxx the pump blew and broke. 2months after warranty. At different transmission shop having some issues. A plus called and help assist the issue thankful for that. I only put 6-7 thousand miles on the rebuilt trans. My experience. You be the judge . 6000$ for around 7xxxmiles. read more

They were absolutely amazing. I went in to have my clutch replace and unfortunately I had problems with it afterwards but every single time they fixed it. I do not recommend A Plus Transmission I took my vehicle to the Round Rock location based on a recommendation from a trusted mechanic. Unfortunately, while my vehicle was there, A Plus reassigned the manager due to service issues. More unfortunately, the new manager wasn't much better. I told them I had been to two mechanics who said I had a transmission issue. The car had a hard time shifting in gear properly, made a noise, and the acceleration hesitated. A Plus had my car for over a week. The manager would never call me. I had to call him every day. Once when I called I got the new manager who didn't even know my car had been there for a week already. I was on his list to call. Then I got what I thought was good news - no transmission issue! Just needed a new shifter and shifter cable. I was happy because I told the original manager that if it was thousands of dollars, I wouldn't get it fixed. I would sell it for parts. It's a 2008 Jeep Patriot. I had just dropped $400 for new tires and didn't want to lose more money. The new manager says he's going to give me a "SMOKING HOT DEAL" because of the poor service I received. Smoking hot deal to him was $175 off a $750 bill. That's a little over 20% discount. Not what I'd call a "SMOKING HOT DEAL" but hey I'll take it! When they call me to say my car is repaired and ready for pick up, they say that the technician who drove it heard a noise that sounds like a wheel bearing issue. So I take it back to my trusted mechanic. He has two technicians look at the vehicle and drive it. The shop owner is a mechanic, and he drives it. He also has another shop owner drive it. They all say it's not a wheel bearing issue. They say it's the differential in the transmission, and they don't understand how A Plus could miss it. They call A Plus back and get a defensive response. My trusted mechanic apologized profusely. I'm the second customer that week that has complained about A Plus. They're not going to recommend them anymore. I take it to a different transmission shop and they say yes, it's a transmission issue. Estimated cost is $4200. Well, I paid $4500 for the car two years ago. I'm not going to sink thousands of dollars into this car. I had already warned the A Plus manager that if the second opinion found a transmission issue worth thousands of dollars, I was calling back for a refund. I only got the work done that A Plus suggested because they said there was no transmission issue. Of course the new manager stonewalls me and talks to me about being "reasonable." He gives me the name of the owner but no phone number or email to contact him, and says he will leave the owner a message to contact me. Four days go by, and I start contacting people. I finally get the number of the owner and speak to him. He pushes me off to his GM, because he's got "several businesses and he's far removed from" the day to day activities. The GM calls me the next day from his vacation. Our call is cut off but we finally speak and I tell him my issue. Apparently this GM was present the day my car was finished, and he himself drove it and said there was a noise, which he thought was a wheel bearing issue. Convenient, right? That's what I'm thinking, but I listen patiently. He tells me the noise didn't exist until after the shifter and shifter cable were replaced. Not true. Then he tells me he will talk to the owner and get back to me. I clarified my position and request multiple times - a full refund because they misdiagnosed my vehicle and as a result I paid for repairs I would not have approved. Next day, GM is supposed to call me but has to reschedule. Finally calls me today and goes through a very long list of what their process is to diagnose a transmission issue. He basically said my vehicle showed no signs warranting them taking the transmission out and looking further. Once they confirmed the issue with the shifter and shifter cable, they basically fixed that and closed it up and said that's that, folks! They offered to remove the new shifter and cable shifter and replace it with the old, broken parts, which was pretty insulting. I would have to waste my time going back there to have them potentially mess it up more. I would have no guarantee I would be able to drive it after that, and it could definitely lower the money I could get for selling it. I told them I didn't trust them to diagnose the car properly and just wanted my refund. The GM refused, as well as the owner, so here we are. It sounds like their reputation is declining anyway, so I'm just confirming they aren't worth your business. read more

These guys are great! I took my Dodge Dakota in for a Transmission diagnosis and the problem was in a computer error code that was very hard to define. Instead of throwing a bunch of parts at it, or telling me I needed a new one, they referred me to a technical guru who himself had a hard time figuring out what was wrong. These guys didn't even charge me for the hours they spent diagnosing it! Then, my truck had a blowout on my tire in their driveway. The nice mechanic got down my spare, and replaced it, no charge!! Tim or Tom, I don't recall, was a great fella! On 06-16-16 I took my truck in for transmission service. Great experience, nice and professional folks. I returned here because in January of 2016 they looked at my wife's minivan and told me I had issues. They said they couldn't service it because hey saw metal shavings. Sure enough, I needed a new transmission and my extended warranty took care of it. They were honest and open about what they saw and never tried to sell me anything! he give 120000 miles warranty on the car when he change transmission after 2000 miles is the issue with the car he said I'm not gonna fix it

I had bought a used SUV and thought it had transmission issues because it would "buck" on certain gears sometimes, so I took it here to get a free inspection done. I was surprised that the guy said they can look at it right away and probably will only take about 45min so I said sure. After about 1 hour the guy showed me that the transmission pan magnet/bolt did have metal shavings on it and said it felt like my 3rd and 4th gears where the ones having issues. During the inspection they did notice my ball joints were very bad and should have them replaced first before worrying about the transmission which I appreciated them looking out for other issues they didn't need to. I had planed on taking my suv back to have the transmission done but I had read the other review and changed my mind, which I'm glad I read really good reviews on eagle transmission so I took my car there instead and told them my issues and they were able to tell me that my transmission was fine and its actually my engine that's misfiring causing the buck. The only thing wrong with my transmission was a small leak coming from a small seal on the bottom which they replaced for around $120 with tax. The manager at eagle also said shaving on a automatic transmission with my mileage is normal. I'm so glad I made this decision. A plus already wanted to take my transmission apart for $580 to first see what was exactly wrong when there was nothing really wrong with the transmission to begin with. I give 2 stars because I was treated well, it was inspected quick, and they did advise me about my worn ball joints. I would not recommend this place though since they didn't know it wasn't a transmission issue or they knew it was fine and were trying to make money. read more

Gotta say, these guys are great!!! Especially Scott, the Manager... Started having transmission problems with my 2003 BMW 330i so I stopped in to see what the problem was. First off, Scott was super courteous and offered a Free Diagnosis. Looking around the shop I immediately noticed the cleanliness. As a former ASE Master Technician, I can tell right off the bat that this shop is indeed professional! Turns out a leaking cooler line had caused the transmission to overheat and was in need of serious repairs. Since I was already looking to change vehicles to a truck or SUV, I elected not to repair the vehicle and sell it "as is" rather than invest more $ into a car that I had no intention of keeping. Even still, they did not charge me a dime, were more than happy to replace the fluid and wished me well. Where as most shops would throw a fit and try to "hard sell" the repair, these guys showed true professionalism and gave the the information that I needed to make my own decision. Whatever you do, do not go here. They said they rebuilt my transmission for $3,600 but my vehicle kept breaking down afterward and I took it back a few times. One mechanic there said it was "falling flat" but the managers said they couldn't find anything wrong. I took it to an outside mechanic who said it was easy to see that they A Plus had never rebuilt my transmission (and transmission was dirty). I went in thinking my transmission was going to need some work since my car was sounding like an airplane. As a Mercedes owner, I expect to be charged quite steeply as it has been the norm. They had 2 separate gentleman drive the vehicle to hear the sound. They lifted the car up and checked the transmission fluids and everything was perfect. Turns out I need a new wheel bearing. I have use A Plus Transmission For years...they have done work on multiple cars i have owned over the years.I had a great relationship with Scott that use to run the shop in round rock.But Since Tim Took Over Things Havent Went As Well. So at the end of 2013 being of 2014 i had my transmission Rebuilt in my 1983 buick but Aplus transmission...It Ran Ok Until the end of 2017...Then it started having problems shifting in and out of gears on time...Took it back to Aplus transmissions February 2018 they informed me that a few gears were burnt out i needed to have it Rebuilt again...ok no problem...March 2018 they do the work i get a call from Tim saying everything is go to go...i go pay for the have it towed to the A/c repair...I go drive the car its still shifting horribly...I Call Tim..He says its probably a minor adjustment when they done at the A/c shop bring it back no problem... So i get the car home Now my A/c i just had completely redone isnt working...I Get it back to the A/c shop they inform me that Aplus transmissions hit one of my A/c while taking the transmission in and out... So I go to Aplus transmissions and Talk With Tim...About my bolt that is was supposed to replace and about my a/c line...He tells me he ordered the bolt but cant find it..And that wasnt nothing they could do about the A/c line having to be replaced....because they couldnt verity if they caused it or not... At this point after all the money and time i have wasted ...Im done using A plus transmissions in Round Rock...Its to the point now where im considering filing a lawsuit against them...because i should lose my money because they're not handling business the right way... I recently took my Suburban here and had the transmission rebuilt. These guys did a good job and I would definitely recommend them.

I had a check engine light that showed a code for the Torque Converter Clutch and a brake switch open circuit. I took it to my regular mechanic who replaced a brake switch and referred me to A-Plus for the transmission work. I took it to A-Plus in the morning and by the end of the day they said there was nothing wrong with my car. I told them I had the brake switch replaced and Tim said that could have caused the TCC code to show up. He said they had completed their inspection of my transmission and found the fluid level was fine, the fluid was still clean, and the transmission was shifting fine. There was no charge for the diagnosis and he handed me the keys and said to come back if I have a different issue in the future. I couldn't believe there was no diagnostic fee or service charge to look at the car. I hope my transmission does fine, but whenever it does need work in the future, I'm going to A-Plus. read more

The dealership quoted me an astronomical price, so I asked A Plus for a second opinion, and I'm glad I did! They saved me roughly $2,000, got the work done quickly, and walked me through the process without making me feel like a "defenseless girl" in a big, scary transmission repair shop. Faced with a grinding noise and a transmission which would not drive in reverse I chose A+ based on the majority of positive comments on Google. I had the vehicle towed to the shop and met with a very pleasant Manager Scott. Within the hour they had performed a 22 point check and let me know the details of what was OK and what was not. Obviously the grinding noise and not being able to drive it was the major problem. Having determined that the vehicle was not drivable I gave the go-ahead to perform the next stage which was a removal and strip down for a price which I felt was reasonable but would be taken off any final figure If we decided to carry out the full repairs. I was told if I wanted once that had been performed to stop any further work they would put it back together and only charge me that. I gave the go ahead for the strip down. Scott called me the following day to ask if I would come and look at the stripped down box which I did immediately. It was obvious by the technician showing me the bearing which had failed and the chewed up gears that there was significant damage. I gave the go ahead to prepare a detailed price quote based on the parts needed. I received the quote which was higher than I thought but still made sense based on the damage. All told it was10.4 hours of work and the list of damaged parts I had been shown plus a rebuild kit. It was also evident that they were careful about what was being carried out by the fact they couldn't clear some of the debris from the radiator so proposed fitting an external cooler to avoid any problems. I gave the go ahead and waited a couple of days. Once everything was tested and a test drive completed mention was made of a rear differential noise which I already knew about. They checked it anyway without charge to ensure peace of mind. All was OK. My wife went to pay and pick up the car, again the customer service from Scott was excellent. He requested that we return to let him quickly test drive it after 2 weeks to ensure all is well. We will use Scott and A+ in future if we happen to run into problems with any other vehicles. read more

I took my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado Diesel to the Round Rock A+ Transmission in January 2012. The original problem was a very hard "lunge" when the transmission downshifted between the 2nd and 1st gear. A+ told me I needed to rebuild my transmission at a cost of $4K. I called around and verified the pricing was reasonable for the repair, and proceeded to drop it off for four days. I got the truck back, and all was good for two months. Two months in though, the same problem returned. A+ took it back for a day and all was good again. 6 months later, the exact same problem returned! They again took the truck back, and within weeks the same problem returned yet again. The fourth time I took it to them, it was now February 2013, and they kept the truck for one week while I was out of town. When I came back, the truck still wasn't ready and I was left to scramble without transportation for two days and they refused to get me a rental car. Now I am a single parent of two kids so this was very difficult to manage. I got the truck back after the 4th time, and again the same problem showed up immediately after getting it back. Now the manager, Scott, is telling me to it must be electronic and I need to take it to a dealership to get repaired on my own dime. I am now faced with paying for someone else to fix my original problem while I've already spent $4K at A+. Guess a lawsuit is next :( And for fun, this entire time Scott has been extremely nice, they just haven't fixed my issue while taking my $4K. read more

Honest and easy to work with!! They took care of me and dealt with my horrible ex-vehicle warranty company.

This place screwed me royally. I brought my vehicle in there for an assessment. Of course, the guy running the shop:Ken Smith, gives me the spiel about how "he can't believe that I have been driving my car in this condition and how it is on the verge of breaking down any day" b/s that most mechanics do. I already knew my car needed transmission work, so I was going to get it fixed regardless. So we arrange a time for me to drop it off and I rent a car at Enterprise which is not far from the transmission shop. Well when I am supposed to pick the vehicle up, the next day at 10...which was when he told me to come...it was not ready. He tells me it will be like 2pm. So I take off and drive around. 2 turns in to 4 and I pick up the vehicle. It didn't feel right, but I had to pick my husband up from work in Webberville, so I had to haul ass. The moment my husband gets in the vehicle and starts to drive it, he knows right away that it is not right, and since we payed the guy 3000 dollars, we were going to get it fixed correctly. So we make arrangements to take it back up there the next day. Ken tells me it will only take a couple hrs and that I could wait there. I had my 5 month old baby girl with me. I ended up being there from8-2pm!! Gee that sucked very badly!!! especially for my baby girl. So when I took off with the car and it didn't feel right (yet again) I told my husband and he let Ken know. So this time I bring the car back up there. And he tells me that he will pay the rental car fee for inconveniencing me so. Since the Enterprise had may dealings with Ken in the past, they agreed to him renting the car for me stating that he would sign the paperwork later (like he always did) so I felt I had no worries. Well, several days later, when Ken told us the car was ready and we could come pick it up we were glad we were going to get our car back. He said he was about to close but he would park it around back and leave the keys under the mat. So we drive all the way to Round Rock, and when we get there, the car is still parked inside the locked up shop! Wtf?? Ken had previously told me that the number for the shop rolled over to his phone after hours, so I started calling. But did he answer? Conveniently not. So, since it was the weekend, we had to wait until Monday to get our car. When I got there, my husband told me to be sure and drive it before I left. I took it around the block and it felt worse than the first time we brought it in! I pulled back in the shop and when I got out of the car, one of the mechanics came out saying.."how was it? good, huh, because me AND the other mechanic drove it and it felt great!". I was shocked. Like he was prefacing what ever I had to say with his "expert opinion" to discredit whatever I had to say!! So I enter the shop where Ken was and I told him that I would let my husband be the judge of what had been done, but I didn't think it was better. So , when my husband got in after work and knew right away it was wrong, he called Ken, who copped a major attitude. We ended up having to call corporate and take it to a different branch. Now, Enterprise has informed me that Ken is refusing to pay the bill for the rental car merely because he screwed us from the getgo!! Wow. So know a collection agency is trying to go after me for a 338 dollar bill for a rental fee that Ken originally agreed to pay. Very wrong on so many levels if you ask me. I suggest anyone to go anywhere else BUT A Plus Transmissions!! read more

I took my wife's car to this place and dealt with Scott who is supposed to be the manager of this location, though I'm sure they just gave him the title with none of the true management responsibilities. I was told that it would be a free service to pull the transmission and diagnose the problem and if at that point I chose not to have the work completed that they recommend, it would cost $495 to reinstall the transmission. Seemed reasonable to me. They pulled the transmission, quoted me a price of over $4k to fix the issue and when I told them that I chose not to pursue such a high dollar quote, I was told that the price to re-install the transmission was $895. I reminded him of our conversation and he conveniently didn't remember that but said he'd do me a favor and only charge $589 to re-install the transmission. I gave them their extra, measly almost hundred dollars just to be done with them. I hope it was worth losing a customer forever. Once I got the car home, transmission fluid was pouring out of the car onto my brand new driveway and when I took it back to them, I was accused of doing something to the car and was told "see, this is what happens when we are nice to customers! I told you it would possibly now be a bigger problem and now you want me to fix it." Well, come to find out, they installed a seal wrong when they put the transmission back in the car and that's where the fluid was pouring out of. They supposedly addressed the issue, but the car still leaked after that. Outrageous behavior on Scott's part to accuse me of doing something to the car, then when it was found to be his mechanics fault, not one apology, not one offer to address all the fluid on my new driveway, nothing. Basically threw me the keys and walked off. I'll drive to another state for transmission repair before I'd engage with this clown show again. read more

Took my daughters car to have checked out after 2 hours they call me and state that they couldn't tell me what it would cost to repair but for $489 they would pull the transmission out and then they would be able to determine what it was going to cost to repair. I have to say I don't usually write many reviews, but these guys need a 5 star for service. They have been servicing all my vehicles for over a year and are always fast and get the job done. I feel like they take time out of their day every time I come in to hop on my vehicle and explain everything they are doing for me. AWESOME! I went in on a Saturday afternoon, and they were so friendly and helped me right away! They actually said nothing was wrong with my car and showed me where the leak I thought I had was coming from. They didn't suggest any extraneous fixes (every other car place at least suggests a new air filter). And they charged me nothing. It took maybe 10 minutes. So great! read more

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. I have had a dreadful experience at this shop! First off I was quoted a cost range (1700.00-2300.00) and once the analysis was completed, I was told that it would cost an additional 800.00 more than the max that I was originally quoted. Tim explained that this was due to an internal problem that they couldn't detect until they took the transmission apart. Okay, bad start, worst finish, keep reading... Anyways, I proceeded with the work, a rebuild (BIG mistake), they took TWO week and a couple of days to finish my car, I was being told that there was issue with a part not arriving!! Not only that, I had to be the one constantly calling in to check the status of my car, otherwise, I don't think I would have been receiving updates. Well, fast forward, two weeks after picking up my car, it's running WORST than what it did when I first took it in. I bring it back and they tell me that the computer scan is picking up 8 codes now as oppose to the 2 when I first brought it in. Let me take a moment to say, that, Tim, the shop's manager is a nice, fast talking guy, but obviously, his techs aren't good with rebuilds. Also, I will add that Tim initially told me that he had assigned my car to his best rebuilder and that this particular rebuilder had over 40 years' experience; well I am totally NOT impressed. Tim also told me that I would have my car back on Wednesday if I got it to him first thing on Monday morning. Well today is late Tuesday afternoon, I just called Tim and he doesn't even know what's going on with my car. He just explained that he has to call the South Austin shop to check in and obtain the status. I don't feel any better about the rebuilder down South working on my car because the South side shop has WORST reviews than the Round Rock shop. Last but not least, if you are inclined to use this shop after reading this, don't drop off after hours. They need to have a drop box supplied with envelopes for customers that bring their cars in afterhours! Overall, as I stated, Tim has been a nice guy, but I am completely, utterly unhappy with the rebuild service consequently, if I could do it all over again, I would NOT opt to have a transmission job completed here!! Update: Tim just called and told me that my transmission needs to REBUILT, AGAIN, the first rebuild only lasted approximately two weeks!! What the heck???! You keep my car in your shop for over two weeks doing a SLOPPY job now you have to start it all over again!! Anyways, save yourself the stress; take your car some place else. I called myself doing research but I overlooked a lot of the hidden negative reviews that are on here. I should call consumer affairs about this mess; I have a big fat bill from APlus, in addition, I am paying for a rental car all because they can't order parts and complete sloppy work. read more
