This time around, I came in for an oil change on my Lexus. One thing I appreciate is the fact that they'll pull up a Carfax report to see whether other things have been done or not to your vehicle in case there might be something that needs to be addressed. Their front door says it all with their triple B business rating and ASE certified mechanics. They also do a multi point inspection to make sure everything else is functioning. One thing that was pointed out, which I already knew about, was the fact that I had a torn CV boot that needed to be replaced. Since the CV joint had lost all the grease, it was also best to replace the whole axle which doesn't add that much to the price since most of this is labor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As a result, I made an appt and came back a few days after the oil change and had that repaired.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was pleased to see on the invoice that I am a gold VIP member which means I received an additional discount. I also appreciate the 36 month/36,000 mile warranty which dealerships often do not have. As someone who owns four cars, they'll be seeing me again at some point. read more

It was a rough week -- my car was in the shop at Dave's Ultimate Automotive in Pflugerville for several days. Work demands made it impossible for me to work remotely, so I had to Uber to and from the office every day while stressing about whether my car would actually get fixed and the cost. Despite all that, the team at Dave's delivered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They kept me informed throughout the process[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], took the time to diagnose a potential issue, and when that didn't solve it, they didn't cut corners. Instead, they dug deeper to find the real problem and got it resolved with their ingenuity, no shortcuts, no sweeping things under the rug. As the part did not original resolve the issue, Dave's did not charge me for the original part that didnt resolve issue or the original labor fee. I'm not sure if I can say with confidence that OTHER automotives shops would have done the same. I really appreciate doing business with honest and ethical people, and that's exactly what I experienced here. I truly hope that continues, because if it does, they've got a customer for life. I found Dave's through a Yelp search, I needed to get the brakes done on my wife's car. I know these places don't want you sitting around waiting all day in their lobby but I had no choice. I knew the brakes were in need of service, this based on a check done at another garage when I got my oil changed. The prices were in line with other estimates, and after about 4 hours of waiting I got my brakes done all the way around. What I appreciated was the tech working on my car was told I was waiting and he worked through his lunch to try and get me out of there. If I can't trust them to do a simple oil change without potentially catastrophic damage to my car, I cannot trust them to do anything. Went in for a simple oil change: one of the most basic maintenance procedures, and shortly found oil on my garage floor because the technician failed to tighten the oil filter. The filter only needs to be hand tight, but it was barely hanging on and leaking everywhere. Had the oil filter been just a little more loose, I could have lost all my engine oil on the highway, and lost the car. I then discovered they had severely overfilled the engine oil according to the dipstick, and measured 25% over maximum capacity when I drained it out. I now have oil leaking at the engine-transmission interface (a $1600 repair) where I know there was not a leak before, likely from the engine over-pressurized and damaging the seals. read more

I've had good service in the past and no complaint with any work done in the past. They've provided good communication and upfront explanations. One big disappointment; Dave's will not install your parts, you must buy parts through them. I drive a 1998 VW TDI New Beetle, I need to choose my replacement parts intentionally and carefully. I certainly don't trust unknown and overpriced parts from a non-VW-specific repair shop. I ordered specific parts from a seller that I trust for my car, but Dave's won't put it in because they, "can't Warranty it." Yes, I get that, and I'll sign saying "No Warranty on..." I don't make a habit out of bringing parts to mechanics, I understand that parts are a big part of their income. If it were any of our other vehicles, I would be okay with Dave's supplying the parts, just not in this instance. I can't get Dave's to help me out with a few hours of labor installing a part that I supply, even considering past and future work. I'll have to find a shop that's willing to work with me on this, and all future work. read more

I wanted to like this place and these guys. I did. They don't seem like a bad bunch, but I can't say I've ever walked away from this place feeling "taken care of". I've been here before several times for maintenance and while it was pricey, I bit the bullet and paid for the love of my vehicle, but this last trip-will be my LAST trip. I took my truck here for an alignment. Not such a tough request. My truck is lifted and I understood that meant that there's going to be difficulty getting it properly aligned. But do your best, right? I dropped my truck off at 7:30AM, when they opened, left it all afternoon they called me around 3:30 and tell me it'll be ready soon. I get a ride over they tossed me the keys and I drive off...the picture below is how my steering wheel looked DRIVING STRAIGHT after their "alignment"... ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I took it back and within 15 minutes they have it fixed...which is great and all but what was going on that they had it all day and then take 15 minutes to actually set it right? They didn't charge me but still it really shook whatever confidence I had in their work. I don't want to completely trash this place because their guys were really apologetic and insisted they usually go for a test drive first, but this was downright scary and I feel like I wouldn't be doing my duty as a consumer if I didn't let others know about my experience. Never again do I want to leave a shop feeling like my vehicle is more unsafe than when I brought it in! I didn't check their hours and made a reservation on a Saturday (not open on weekends). I quickly got an email back from one of their staff asking for a reschedule. Communication was solid as we emailed back and forth and set up a new reservation Monday morning for a routine oil change. Come Monday morning, I walk in at 8:45. The process was simple. This Dave's is within a 5-minute drive from my work and they are my go to auto guys. I've been to them for oil changes, car inspections, and overall maintenance issues - no issues thus far and prices have all been fair. Today though, they saved me AND my bank account. About a week ago, I noticed issues with my Acura ILX 2013 car starting smoothly. The car would crank a few times before finally starting after pushing the start engine button. I called and they told me I could drop it off anytime and that they would do a diagnosis to see what the issue could be. Dropped it off around 1015 and got quoted $115 for a diagnosis. They called me around noon to let me know that it was actually a battery issue. A cell gone wrong in the battery but that it had a 3-year warranty on it. I purchased my battery from Good Year Auto last July 2017 so it wasn't my initial go to thought that there were issues with my battery. Long story short, they told me it would only cost $57 for the diagnosis (instead of the initial quote of $115) and on top of that, they included an additional discount. He asked really pertinent questions and realized he would need access to my keys... Can was in Cedar Park, we live in Pflugerville. He offered to come by, pick up the keys, and then drop the key off at Discount Tire along with my van, saving me an Uber trip (since our other vehicle is dead at the moment). WOW! Took the SUV in for what I thought was a minor power issue. Turns out, a previous chain provider (not to be named) changed the timing belt and broke the pin. Fix it and that was that. A few months later the engine is ruined, a perfectly good vehicle ruined due to someone not being upfront about it all. Tired of the run around and took it to Dave's to get it figured out. Honestly it took them some time to get it worked out. When it finally came down, it was obvious it was all a total loss. I appreciate Ed and Michael for being honest and explaining things. Michael even took the time to draw it out on paper with a diagram. Vehicle is a total loss. What do you do after you hear that?..... You buck up and get to work. Michael found a scrap/parts buyer that will take it. I will get enough back to pay for the mechanic that spent so much time diagnosing and get a couple hundred left. I went to last month for my acura mdx 2005 had P0301 random misfire engine so i told them this is the issue but still say we want to diagnose and its cost around 120 dollar eventhough i told them already thats the issue.Anyway long story short they said tou have to replace your all 6 coils and they.gave me cost around more than 1000 dollar , then my eyes open it seems to high..so investigated it that best of best after market or oem one coil price is 60 bucks but they said its 130 bucks for one coil and then labor to replace. Then i realized they are not right. I took the car and paid useless 120 bucks for so called diagnostic. So i fixed my self all six coils with spark plugs in just 250 bucks and bought them from autozone. I would recommend you dont go this type of so called brand name automotive shop because money eater..please be safe and save ur money read more

Fair price for the parts and labor to replace my broken radiator fan - 20% discount for new customers is another huge bonus. Overall a good experience for an oil change. I was able to get in on the same day I called with a minimal wait. Staff was friendly; price was great. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars was that the person that drove my vehicle in did not use the paper mat protector. I know they had them because I did see all the others utilize them. My experience with Dave's Automotive was great. I submitted an appointment request online and within minutes I had an email confirmation within minutes. I took my car in and was met by Mike who was super courteous and explained the whole process. After the diagnostic, I received a comprehensive report with pictures that detailed all that is wrong. He then sent me quotes for what needed to be done. There was transparency from the beginning which I appreciated.
