We stopped here while out snowmobiling. I wasn't terribly impressed as we walked in to the Pub and Prime then were pointed towards the Tiki bar as soon as we walked in. I'll admit, I was annoyed... Sam was the bartender. She served us right away and poured a great drink! We had the Coconut shrimp and the prime sandwich... DELICIOUS!!! I have to first say that the waitstaff and hostess were absolutely amazing. We waited over an hour to be seated, but we are so grateful for those working there. Unfortunately my husband ordered 1/2 rack of ribs and they had no meat on them and what little meat on the ribs was burnt to a crisp! I ordered the chopped sirloin steak and it was dry and burnt on the outside. I had to pay $5 for a half a cup of sauted onions. We would have sent it back but we waited over an hour for our food and after 3 hours of sitting in this place we just wanted to leave!!! Wow Pub'n Prime is now one of my favorite all time restaurants in Wisconsin. As a matter of fact, I recommended Pub'n Prime to Ron Faiola for his upcoming second volume on Wisconsin Supper Clubs. Pub'n Prime does so many things right I don't even know where to start. The service was spotless, crushing the challenge of most of the guests leaving the Tiki Bar (yes, it's a prime rib and tiki bar kind of place) and moving into the main dining room at the same time. The servers use hand written checks, including all the abbreviations, and pick up hot food when their server number silently lights up on an elevator floor display kind of sign. I love old school systems like that! The menu is blissfully minimal: focused on one thing (prime rib) and doing it right. First we received fresh baked rolls and WIsconsin butter, as well as a nontraditional relish tray of black olives and crackers with a richly delicious cheesy spread. The prime rib arrived deliciously seasoned in its own jus and something strange happened to me, and I kind of blacked out. Next thing I know, EVERYTHING is gone, all the meat, even the fat I would usually trim off. It was outstanding. Gruff male hunters, at the table behind ours, were intoxicated by the $2 margarita Monday special and berated the owner, saying the price for prime rib was different on their website. The owner calmly replied, in a low frequency tone I could only just make out, that the out of date menu was from a third party website, as the restaurant does not even have one. I was concerned these butter and beef-fed Wisconsin jerks would snap her neck. I had nothing to worry about: she was a pro. Scientists may as well have discovered that the low frequency tone of her voice had the same effect on the lizard brains of these two hog-men as the umami-packed jus of the prime rib. The signature peak in the brain waves was identical. For her, these 300LB silverbacks was NBD. There would be more than enough prime rib to sate all comers. The top notch service and killer prime rib (in my blackout I didn't even take a photo!) won us over, and the silver fox owner won these old boys over too. It was my birthday and my husband took me here for the Prime Rib, as we have not been happy with Prime lately. My husband had his heart set on ribs. They are not shy about their prices and the food is not worth it by any standards. My tap beer was tepid and flat, the soup was over thickened and tepid also. They were out of ribs (at 5:00) yet were still on the menu. The salad bar was excellent. My son and had Prime. It was not a slice but blobs swimming in over salted au jus. It was $33.00 for blobs of salty beef . We will not be returning. read more

Dined there last nite 12/28/19, place was pretty crowded and new owners although are trying, they were not able to keep up with basic things like keeping salad bar and bread station stocked. We were at Pub' N Prime in Saint Germain Wi to celebrate our 56th Wedding Anniversary. I had an 8oz Prime Rib for $45, the worst Prime Rib I've ever had! The waitress brought out a piece of Prime Rib with huge hunks of fat everywhere, it was disgusting! I'm not sure how anyone could possible take that out of the kitchen and serve it to anyone! I called the waitress over, I really didn't have to say anything, she took the plate away and came back with another piece of Prime Rib! It was awful and not tasty at all! For $45 I expect great Prime Rib! 56th. Wedding Anniversary and they didn't even offer us a small dessert. After dinner I asked to speak to management. Management came over and I told her all that happened and she told me they may have had two complaints ever. I stated the ball was in her court, she picked up our tab and charged us for the salad bar ($20). If I would have known I would have eaten a lot more from the salad bar! This was our first time here. Our family has been coming here for many years & recommended it to us. We kept getting disappointed with other places around here, but holy cow we weren't with Pub N Prime! The staff was amazing & so friendly. They went out of their way to make sure we got what we wanted. The prime rib with au jus is incredible. Filet minion is super tender. Clam chowder was so yummy & flavorful. We arrived at 5:30 pm. We checked in with the hostess and she told us it would be "a little after 6". At 6:20 a woman came up and spoke to me (I later learned that she was the owner". She said it would be "at least an hour/hour and a half". I explained that we had already been there almost an hour. We had SIX children under the age of 10, 3 of those were under the age of 6. They were not going to wait another hour. She walked me back to show me how she could seat us (two separate tables) and make it faster. We agreed that that was fine. I walk back out the bar area where the bartender promptly starting inquiring as to who told me "a little after 6" and if we spoke to her she did not say that. This restaurant doesn't take reservations so we arrived at 430 and were told we would be seated at 5 so we went to the bar, several groups came in after us and were seated right away. Had to remind hostess staff 2 times we were still there. The menu listed on their website showed an 8oz prime rib for $24. Get to the restaurant and was actually $33. Absolutely 5 stars for the prime rib!! You can't get a better cut anywhere else, no matter how much you're paying. Ruth's Chris? Fleming's? Forget it... Aside from the meat, the other food is lackluster. Frozen rolls, bagged salad mix with globs of dressing, overdone baked potatoes... The restaurant venue is retro in a sort of run-down way, but the service is usually good. Overall, it gets a "meh" from me. Pub n Prime has the best outdoor patio in the Northwoods called the Tiki Bar! You can see it as your round the corner on Hwy 70 driving through St. Germain. The drinks are great, the atmosphere is fun and the bar is huge with plenty of seating. Go inside to sit down and order a great steak dinner but be sure to order the onion rings! They are really thin and fantastic. Outside there is a limited but great food menu that goes along with the tiki bar theme. read more

You'll feel like you've been transported to a 70's steakhouse/tikibar/northwoods establishment but you won't care because the prime rib is so, so good. Service was okay - it was quick but our server didn't seem to care much about adding to our experience. Salads they give you are fresh and tasty, as are the buns (I had to force myself to endure the stomach ache to try one). We were quite confused as to why they serve canned peaches with the garnishes but hey, why not right? Then you get the prime rib and you are in heaven. Dining room and indoor bar seems fairly open but was told it would take a while to be seated. We went to their tiki bar ordered a beer, they are out Coors light. This is the type of restaurant that could benefit from Yelp having review categories, because I'd go: Food 4.5 Service 3 Atmosphere 2 This is THEE place for prime rib. The meat is excellent, tender, flavorful, and which your choice of three cuts or choose your own size, with most all of the fat trimmed off, you are getting a great roast at a great price, complete with sides. The salad is decent, though I loved the tomatoes, which are usually flavorless in similar restaurants. Baked potato was good, sour cream with chives a nice touch. Warm bread average. Mushrooms I couldn't tell if they were canned or not. The "relish tray" is nothing more than a crudite plate, and as it comes served at the same time as your salad and bread, really doesn't add to the meal. They should either upgrade the tray or get rid of it. They push their prawns, and while I'm not normally a prawn fan, these are good, though I would love for them to give an option on sauce/prep since the sweet pineapple sauce they use leaves a lot to be desired. Wine list could be expanded. The tiki bar looks adorable and has a great atmosphere. The dining area has zero atmosphere, and really could use some help, though if your beef is that good, who cares, right? Service also got off to a rough start on this night; acknowledge your customers standing at the door folks! Go for their prime rib. You won't be disappointed. read more

We visited Pub'n Prime during our Thanksgiving trip to spend time with relatives. First thing I've noticed the last couple of times we've been there is that the place is looking pretty dingy and rundown. Our waitress was the only server that showed up for work that night, and even though it wasn't busy she seemed bothered that we were even there. I did order a name brand cocktail, but it was definitely not what I ordered. Pretty sure it was just whatever they serve for rail drinks. As for food, the "supper club" relish tray was black olives and a few scallions, along with an array of canned peach halves. The bread was okay. A few folks had the broiled fish which they seemed to enjoy. I ordered prime rib medium (I know, don't bash me), and the spinach salad. The spinach salad was spinach with cold bacon vinaigrette, I had asked the waitress if the dressing was hot and she said yes. It wasn't. When my prime rib was served it was very, very pink so the waitress took it back to the kitchen and they cooked it a bit more? I'm not really sure. Anyway, the prime rib was like cutting and eating a piece of shoe leather. Very bland tasting and it was fully trimmed, so there was no fatty edge. First time up north in WI and this is one of the nicer places we've seen. So I've got some pros and cons - Pros: It's recently renovated - the interior is nicely done and very clean. Food was very tasty. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Cons: Our given wait time was miscalculated by 30 minutes (over). The bartender was not particularly helpful. Our food took some time to come out, or maybe it seemed that way because we were going on 2 hours from when we walked through the door. I called ahead for a reservation at 6:00PM for a table of one. I arrived at 5;45PM, I walked the gauntlet of snowmobilers in the parking lot. The bar area was moderately busy. I spoke to the waitress and she explained she will get a table for me. I noticed the "Tiki" bar was packed, as I sat at the bar, the bartenders offered several times to get me something to drink. They were very professional, as all the staff was. The snowmobile fumes and noise coming from the machines into the restaurant was overwhelming. The noise and the drunks coming from Tiki bar was just as annoying. The hostess then explained she would place me directly by the door of the Tiki bar. I politely refused, I didn't want a drunk snowmobiler bumping into my meal. (or his A**) After a few minutes the Manager place me at a table in the dining room, it was very nice. Still not a place you can take a sweet-heart and whisper sweet things into her ear. The Pub N Prime is not this place. The prime rib was excellent, salad bar 5 Stars, service very good. Business was great for a group of snowmobilers and I can completely understand that, still the management treated me very well, even though I was one. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We visited on a Saturday night around 8pm only to find out they only had well done and 1 medium prime rib left. This is a restaurant known for their prime rib isn't it? They brought out 4 pieces of stale bread and some butter before the meal. They used to serve a nice relish tray but not anymore. The worst part of the evening is that they no longer take plastic so we had to go to the ATM and withdraw cash, of course paying a surcharge to get the money out. I was here back in June with family. Relish tray was sub-par and the steak was not served on a hot plate like it use to be.
