What a great place! Their menu goes from cheese curds to burgers and pizza to braised beef shank and scallops. We went for the high end and couldn't have been more happy. It's just a roadside bar/ restaurant. We were there in the winter so a lot of snowmobiles had stopped to eat. The pan seared scallops seemed out of place but looked so good. I'm glad I went with it. I love celery root puree and the greens and bacon just brought it to a new level! My husband enjoyed the huge braised beef shank. I would highly recommend. Dropped in on Sisters Saloon for a personal celebration, we had never been there and we were in for a treat. Ordered the curry cauliflower, cherry and almond appetizer it was was good however being from the Caribbean I couldn't taste the curry but I love cauliflower and it was a nice combo just needed a little more flavor. The salad was good and the dressing was homemade and delicious. Our soup tasted great as well. The prime rib was good and the mushrooms were awesome because they were real mushrooms. The only problem was my prime rib was cold, I let the waitress know and they gave us a discount. My partners prime rib was perfect. The service was great our waitress to good care of us and the restaurant was clean and our table was clean and quiet. We will definitely go there again to try some other things on the menu. read more

As an "out of towner" this was a GREAT place to stop!! We came here and had great service at the bar.... Finally had a good Old Fashioned here in Wisconsin.... Had a great dinner experience as well.... Hubby had the fish fry and I had the broasted Chicken. Honestly it was such a great experience, we are sorry we didn't stop earlier jn our trip.... Visited a couple times during my trip. Friendly service, nice atmosphere. Good food. I had a pork belly sandwich and a pastrami sandwich there. Both were tasty and reasonably priced. The place also has a billiards table, a couple gambling machines, and you can sit outside on a nice day if you so choose to. We sure did! The bathroom is pretty small and could use some remodeling but it is what it is. read more

Up north bar that when you drive by it does not have a draw to it BUT when you take a chance Sisters has really great food for it being a local snowmobile bar in the winter. Hands down, this is the best place Up North to have a meal. This place outcooks, outserves and outvalues any bar or supper club in the north Wisconsin region. Do not come here if you want prompt service. We had a 6:30 reservation, but our main course was not served until 8:30. No relish tray or bread comes with entrees, but you do get soup or salad. Great Northwoods dinner. Stopped in during a holiday weekend and had only a 20 min wait, just enough time for a couple $2 domestic drafts at the bar! Family had corn fritters, shaved prime rib sandwich, almond crusted walleye, and sisters burger. Couldn't find a single thing we didn't like! Certainly elevated menu vs a standard bar/tavern menu. Great execution and attention to detail on everything from the mixed green salad, to the soup special, to the griddled brioche bun or well executed vegetable medley. Why did I not know about the menu by Chef Evan? Went for a quick lunch and was blown away by the menu! Homemade corn beef sandwich was the best I have had in a long time. Got to enjoy the second half of the sandwich for dinner. Potato salad was homemade and fresh. DH had a blt which he couldn't believe was so tasty. We can't wait to come back again and again not only to enjoy the food, but the atmosphere and great service. Looks like some interesting cocktails too! Went for Prime Rib without a Reservation in mid-August. They were accomodating with our large gp including kids. Wait staff was great, food was very good. We always go there for drinks and appetizers but don't sleep on them for a nice meal. Excellent chef in the kitchen! read more

Ya know how you get hungry for pizza but you are skeptical about trying a new place? We are soooooo glad we had pizza at Sisters Saloon! It was exactly what we wanted. The server told us the sausage was homemade and the sauce was enough. (I usually order extra.) The sausage had great flavor without being too spicy. The thin crust was perfect. It held the topping and sauce very well without being soggy or falling apart. We sat in the dining room area which was very comfortable. Try it!! read more

We were there on the Friday before Halloween and the place was all decked out. Just a warning, if you are over 6'2, be aware of the support beams, they are really low in a couple of areas. Also, when they decorate for halloween they put the fake cobwebs all over the ceiling, so you are constantly getting stuck in tiny cotton threads everywhere you go. This is a nice little bar with OK food. The menu is very small, or at least it was when we were there. We actually came for the pizza but it is only available every other day (or something like that), so a few of us had the fish fry, one of the guys in the group had the frog legs and I had the burger. The general consensus was that everything was good, nothing spectacular, but good. My burger was just a burger. Hamburger patty, cheese, lettuce tomato and ketchup. They cook them one way, done... That's it. We did order some appetizers that were pretty good. The fried mushrooms were very good (sauce was the difference maker) and the cheese curds weren't bad. I was pretty stuffed and wanted to try to chocolate bread pudding, but called it a night and left room for beer at the bar. read more

Wow. Not what I was expecting at all. We went early on a Friday night, as suggested. They open at 4:00 PM and we were there shortly thereafter. Our table had brandy old-fashions - sweet - and those drinks were top notch. Pan fried perch and deep fried fish were served. We received a LOT of fish for the price. Their coleslaw is the best I have since moving to the area. A lighter coleslaw with a nice bite. The cheesy hash browns are incredible! Only on the menu on Fridays. Definitely recommend. We got each of the desserts offered the night we were there to split around the table. Chocolate chip cookies, dipped in chocolate with a peanut butter drizzle OR a blackberry compote served with a most excellent vanilla icecream OR a peanut butter cream pie. It was difficult to determine which was the best. A very close competition with the blackberry compote coming in first, followed by the peanut butter pie and then the cookies. We all agreed that any of the desserts were perfectly acceptable. Took a look at the regular menu and there are several neat dishes that we would definitely come back for. At least those of us with a more adventurous palate. Looked at and passed on the hazelnut duck tenderloins for an appetizer. But did try the fried cheese curds. I have never had such cheese curds - fried to perfection and if you can imagine a cheese curd tasting light and delicious with a perfect crisp - that is what these were like. With HOMEMADE RANCH! Definitely will be back to try the risotto and the cauliflower curry. What a treasure of a place!! read more

This was a great surprise!! We had never been here before and we loved our food. Where to sit was confusing and the guy behind the bar did not do a great job explaining that there are 2 different menus. If you want bar food, sit in the bar area. If you want dinner sit to the left in the dining area. It's just not really obvious that they are actually different areas and that there are separate menus. We just chose a window seat so that we could see the river but apparently we needed to sit in the area with no view in order to eat from the dinner menu. Anyway, the food was fantastic. I had the daily special which was an 8 ounce filet with a chanterelles mushroom sauce. It was perfectly prepared and had great flavor. My gf had the pork shank which was absolutely amazing! I'd go back again for the pork shank for sure! Don't judge this book by its cover, as it's worth every penny. read more

Special Review: 11/28/2019 Thanksgiving The food at Sisters Saloon was very good. This was a special Thanksgiving serving. The turkey was very well cooked - the real deal. Great stuffing. The green beans were fantastic. Dinner also was severed with a fresh dinner roll, whole cranberries, carrots, sweet potatoes and a dessert of pumpkin bars. Will be back to try their regular menu. 12/25/2019: Christmas Day Down from five ***** to**** We were glad they were open for a holiday meal. This time I wish we would have tried another place. The sides were as good as ever. You had a choice between beef and ham. The beef was listed as Prime Rib. It wasn't prime by any stretch of the imagination. It was one of the toughest pieces of meat I have ever had. It wasn't overcooked but you needed more than the steak knife provided to cut through it. Sisters is a no frills, friendly, casual place. Menu items and drinks are fairly priced, which is appreciated in these times of inflation. Our group enjoyed a variety of dishes, including: risotto. Sisters Burger, Shrimp in a delicate sauce and duck. The Wisconsin cheese curds are excellent and plenty for our party of 4 to share with cocktails (made to order old fashionds). This is a little diamond in the rough! Was suggested to us by a local artist. Small menu but a very nice selection of entrées. Yes they have burgers and pizza but also scallops and beef shank. There is a kids menu; it you usually grill cheese, burgers or chicken strips. The dinning room is very small. We had a party of 7....there are only two tables that will seat 8. The rest of the tables seat 2-4 people. Nice staff and atmosphere and family friendly. Over we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will be going back. read more

They were very helpful in looking at ingredients for my gluten free needs. This blackened ahi tuna was incredible. I LOVE pickled red onion also. They even made me my own French fries that they confirmed GF. They don't have separate fryers but I am not that immensely sensitive apparently. read more

This was the first time visiting this restaurant. Have been by it many, many times before but the overall look of the place never made us to stop in. Old, old northwoods interior and but seemed clean. We went strictly for the prime rib advertised every Saturday. Heard they had a chef making the Entrées and sides, Prime rib was said to be 12 ounces with mushrooms and onions on top with Ajus. my wife and I placed an order for medium rare meat with mashed potatoes and the mushroom and onions and Ajus. the server told us it might be bloody and was that alright. we said "yep of course". The prime rib started at 4:00 and we got there at 4:10. 45 minutes later the server said "pretty soon" which she had told us several times before and asked again if we wanted more drinks which we repeated no. Shortly thereafter out came the medium well to well, dry, tough prime rib. Tiny cup of ajus not a drop of blood and just a hint of pink, not red, for the meat. If a chef made this "prime rib" they should hang up their apron. However, the mushrooms/onions and mashed potatoes were very good. A serrated knife was provided and still it was HARD to saw through the meat. my wife sent back 95% of the meat and the server asked was one of the pieces tough? I sawed through mine and ate what I could. The meat couldn't have been prime rib more like cheap choice rib roast I read some of the other reviews for Sisters and think that maybe I was at a different restaurant. Bottom line, we will not be returning. seems like it is more like a bar with BAR FOOD. Can't speak for the rest of the food maybe it's okay. Like I say though, give it a try if you think the other reviews are accurate. When we left there were plenty of people at the small bar area. Loved the braised pork shank, definitely recommend! Scallops were also excellent. Duck strip appetizer was ok. Get there early and or expect a wait and Be prepared to wait a bit for your food but it is definitely worth it! Went again as we do every year on our annual vacation, food was excellent as always, recommend the almond crusted walleye. They have however significantly reduced their menu. read more
