After settling in at the campground, we came to town for supper. Sweet Water it was. The chicken, bacon, ranch pizza was absolutely amazing! The bacon was extra crispy and very flavorful! Waited 1 hour for 2 chicken dinners with mashed potatoes. We were told the cook forgot to make potatoes. When they finally arrived it almost looked like the cook put the chicken back into the fryer to warm it up. We got it it was very greasy. Cant say anything good about the potatoes either. Think he may have had a few baked potatoes form the previous night and might have warmed them up. Not sure what has happened there but last 2 times very disappointed in our food. I'll start with the atmosphere, it's fun, lively, and friendly people. There is Packers Football memorabilia EVERYWHERE, past and present. Fun place. Food, I had the broasted chicken and it was good, I'd order it again. My husband had a hamburger and he said it was great. Service, well as with everywhere you go since Covid, they are short staffed. Those who were there were working hard and fast. Very friendly, courteous., but food that was ordered did get forgotten . We told them and of course it was removed from the food bill. Nice bar area with a great view of the Eagle Lake.Has an outdoor deck and an covered patio with garage doors opening onto the outdoors and lake. Good selection of beers. Hubs had the Club Sandwich with fries. Hard to screw that up. I decided on the chicken wings which was a mistake. The sauces are not listed with the wings, but above the appetizer section and aren't specified as wing sauces. Under the Wings section are two columns: Reg (Regular), and Hot. On the left is a column of serving sizes such as 10, 20, 50. The difference between regular and hot was $5 for 10 wings and scaled up from there. Turns out, the wings were breaded, but the menu didn't state they were. I told the waitress I'd have 10 regular with Franks. She asked if I wanted sauce on the side, or the wings shaken in sauce I chose shaken. Turns out they don't have naked wings, they're all breaded, and they charge $5 to coat the wings rather than serving sauce on the side. Very confusing. I get it, summertime at this place is rough its busy its crowded I get it. Our food order was totally wrong and it was a long wait to get the totally wrong food. I think the biggest off-putting thing was smokers were on the balcony where you eat. I wish someone would reinforce asking them to step away from where people are eating. I was pregnant at the time and really did not appreciate being so close to that in general nor while eating. read more

Updated 8/10: while my below review was true and the service that day was awful, the manager made things right. He apologized after reading this review for being so under staffed. He is the reason I will 100% be going back next time I'm in the area. He offered a way to make the experience better and invite us in for another shot. I'm very excited to give them another chance, because besides the mishaps, the food really would have had amazing taste and flavor So I'm giving two stars because the food would have potential to be good. We were there for over two and a half hours waiting on our food. Never got refills or even checked on at any point. When the food did finally come it was ice cold. No joke. Had to be sitting out for easily 40 minutes before being served. It COULD have been good if it was warm or if we didn't waste our entire night waiting on food and drinks. Love this place for lunch because we can drive here by boat. We came here twice and the service both times were great. I had the grilled chicken sandwich Cajun style with curly fries the first time and the second time I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich which I asked to be cooked Cajun style with regular fries. Also when you check in, you get $5 off your meal if it's over $20 so for Yelpers like myself that's a plus in my book! read more

Sweet Water is a typical Northwoods sports bar with typical bar food. I come here because I like the taco salad. It's nothing special but the crunchy shell and taco meat are good. One time beef was not available so I got chicken and it was a BIG mistake. I hate chicken with a passion though so if you like chicken, it's worth a try. The soups are creative and usually good; however, sometimes they can be a miss. A regular seating section with a cozy fireplace is available. The outdoor seating selection is extensive featuring an enclosed patio with heat lamps and then a couple of tables on an open patio. This has been nicely updated over the years. Great view and very friendly staff. We enjoyed good cold beer on their deck. My husband got the Kentucky Bourbon burger and I got the hot roast beef sandwich. Both were delicious although I wish I had asked for more peppers. It wasn't quite a spicy as I would have liked. However, we both thoroughly enjoyed our dinners. read more

Super staff, our waiter never missed a beat while an influx of customers arrived after us. Hubby ordered a simple cheeseburger that arrived oozing with cheese. I ordered the patty melt that arrived with a single slice of unmelted swiss cheese--no melt. Team, put 2 slices of Havarti and the patty melt would be great. Don't skimp with the butter when grilling outside of the patty melt. Otherwise, grilled onions were spot-on. The burger had perfect char. Crinkled sweet potato fries were awesome! Found Sweetwater Spirits & resort in the Northwoods Premier dining guide, drove over for lunch on labor day and they were busy - great to see. Erin was our server and she did a great job - she was hustling, told us she'd been there for 18 years - says a lot about the ownership. This was our first visit and Erin and the local patrons made us feel welcome. The bloody Mary was excellent, loved the sausage stick and vegetables. I tried the broasted chicken with the "little bakers" and she had a taco salad - all was excellent. I loved the little bakers. Thanks Erin for making it fun, we'll visit again soon, that's for sure. This review is slighted by the worst service ever. Food is meh. It's fine, it's just fine. You aren't going for anything 'good'. You simply stop in because you're hungry. Our waitress was absolutely horrendous. Oh man she was bad. I can't even go on and on about how bad she was. My parents had come here for years. I accompanied them several times. Sweetwater had always been a great choice - back in the day. Tonight, there was no greeting. We looked for someone to take our names for a table. No one... There was no hello, no can I help you. A trip to the kitchen door caught one waitress off guard. Is there someone to take our name for a table, I asked? She bluntly replied, "first come first served...grab one you want". The five of us wound our way through the deck, then into the side room, back through the deck, and as we attempted to open the door to the bar, a waitress gave us the dirtiest of looks and we felt obligated to hold the door for her, and let her go through before us. We finally made it back to the bar, where a table was clearing. A waitress scowled at us, as it appeared we were in her way. We sat at 6:35 pm. Eventually drinks arrived. The waitress turned and ran away without even asking for our food order. We found her, called her over politely to order typical orders from the menu. We noticed tables had since emptied and subsequently filled with new guests being served food. We had been forgotten. They were not the newcomers we were. It was evident they had local service we would not deserve. Still no food for us at 8:15. We decided 1 hour and 40 minutes after we ordered was enough of a wait. After several interactions we realized our very rude waitress had no interest in helping me, my wife, my daughter and 2 grandsons. My wife asked to speak to the manager. "Ask the bartender", she replied, and off she went. When we explained our concern, he too said "it's very busy". There were no raised voices, no harsh words or foul language from us. We only wanted a bill to pay so we could leave. We left, all the more assured we would never darken this doorway again, but also feeling obligated to tell others that the historically positive reputation built at Sweetwater over the years has been ruined by the next generation of owners. Of all of the restaurants and bars I have been to in my 30+ years or being in the Northwoods, Sweet Water is the BEST! A great sports bar for catching a game or a race (They are a NASBAR). But what makes Sweet Water great is the food! They have burgers that rival my favorite burger at Tony Franks in Madison and homemade pizza that is the best you can get in the Eagle River area. The staff and service is great, although they can be slow when very busy. What is awkward is when paying with Credit Card having to tell the waitress what her tip is as opposed to adding it to the receipt after they run the card. I wish I was on the right side of the chain so I could just pull up in my boat without the hassle of going over the Dam to get drinks and some food from Sweet Water. CHECK IT OUT! read more

Our group returned to Sweetwater yesterday by boat. Walking in and seeing the same bartender from last year I was concerned it was going to be another bad experience. The bartender was phenomenal and attentive which was a 180 from before. Service was great, food and drinks!!! Went there for the two nights we were in the Northwoods. Nachos were below average, but the Friday Fish Fry was fantastic. Chicken sandwich was a touch above average. Beer selection was good enough. The servers both nights were really nice and prompt. The best part was that they had the Blackhawks game on almost all of the TVs -- with audio! They're the closest bar to the Hiawatha Lodge, so we'll be back. read more
