We stopped in on a rainy Friday night and the place was packed. We waited about 20-30 minutes for a table, part of which was due to the crowd and part due to staffing levels. When we got seated our drink and food orders got taken right away. All 3 of us ordered walleye fish fry. The food came out within 5 minutes. Hot and delicious. Stopped in here for a quick lunch while visiting Eagle River. The place is decorated very cute with the honey bears - even the restroom. There is a small bar and a dining room. Other patrons included families and retirees. Service was friendly and prompt. My dining companion had the BBQ sandwich with fries and a pickle. The BBQ was very tender and complimented by a good sauce. The portion size was big with a ton of fries. Plan for leftovers or consider sharing. I had a bowl of their chicken dumpling soup, which was served with crackers. I loved the soup and the hearty dumplings. I would definitely order this again. Give this place a try! read more

The four of us went to the honey bear for dinner on Saturday and had chicken. We all agreed the worst chicken dinner we have had. The new us listed the four parts and no none received the correct chicken Parts. I received 2 small legs, a wing and small breast. The menu also stated receive coleslaw was included, but no coleslaw. When I asked about the coleslaw they said no one ate it so they no longer included it! Big disappoint for the price. Well no one ate the coleslaw and now I am never going to eat their chicken either. Don't pass this one up! We have been several times for their fish fry and old fashioned. This time we stopped in the afternoon for a few drinks and appetizers. The Bloody Mary had the best garnishes, ever! It had a little bit for everyone, without being too much. I especially enjoyed the Brussel sprout and shrimp. We split the wings and bacon cheese fries. The wings were crispy and came with choice of sauce, we had the sweet chili. The fries were pretty standard, until they loaded them with nacho cheese and crispy bacon. Oh that soup! They should sell their Chicken Dumpling by the bucket. Loved it! Huge homemade dumplings just like the ones my mom used to make. The Honey Bear Inn looks a lot like many bars in the middle of the woods in Northern Wisc. This one however has pretty great food. Not the biggest bar. Maybe a dozen seats, but they do have a dinning room that is attached that has a handful of tables, along with a few in the barroom. I can only imagine this place can get packed during the higher tourist season. Apparently a weeknight in mid-April is a great time to go, because I sat right down and had my soup within minutes. Also ordered ribs, they took about 15 mins to prepare. The ribs were very good and very messy. They were the type that you had to pick up the bone to eat... so your hands and face are going to get a bit sticky. I would suggest some wet naps to help with this issue. read more

Carried out on a slow Saturday afternoon. Staff was kind and helpful and food was ready right when they'd estimated on the phone. Fun bar space inside and would be a good spot to get a beer and relax. Food was just okay. Typical bar food. Fish sandwich was a little sloppy but flavor was good overall. Italian beef was basic and a little dry. Solid fries. Onion rings didn't travel as well carrying out. Ruben was underwhelming. Didn't have anything negative to say about the place, just not one we will prioritize going back to. I feel this established presence in WI and the community nearby has been dealt a bad blow. Long time owners have run this place into the ground. Thee best cheese curds can be found here. And I love that the fish fry is everyday! I would consider the Honey Bear a little spend because you pay 7.99 for the curds, and even though they are amazing, the amount you get is little disappointing. Also, coming from Minneapolis, I can get what I would consider one of the better burgers in the Midwest for $12 and the burgers here are all around the same price. They are good, but nothing to sing home about. Over all though, it's a great up north atmosphere and the service was great and the food was still ver good. Recommend stopping in!! Haven't had the food yet but i can say the bathroom gets a rating of 8.1 out of 10, fixtures were new vanity was in good condition, handicapped bars for when you've had too much to drink.
