We had a really fun dinner at this old school supper club. The restaurant has beautiful views, and we had had asked to have a window view when making our reservation because it was our anniversary. Instead we were placed at a table outside of the bathroom and kitchen which was a little disappointing. Service was good and the bartender and waitstaff were all very friendly. The old fashioneds were great! My husband loved his steak and lobster. I think my favorite things were the cheese spread and Parmesan peppercorn dressing. Visiting Rhinelander and took my son and family out to dinner for his bday. First time at a North woods supper club- we really enjoyed it. Got in without a reservation. Perch fish fry was good. Our family visited here for the first time last night. We had a drink at the cozy bar while we waited for our table to be ready. Once seated, we were greeted with ice water and a basket of bread sticks and crackers, with butter. We all ordered the 2 piece haddock fish fry. It was served with little cups of baked beans, pasta salad, and Cole slaw, which were served first. The fish was lightly battered and fresh & flaky, and the fries were piping hot. The portion size was generous, and we took home fries. Service was friendly & attentive. Highly recommend you check it out. Reservations are highly recommended, a week in advance. read more

Great old time supper club! Assorted Crackers at the table. Yet They need to add cheese spread. Soup and salad before the meal. Excellent. Great dressing and soup was spot on. I had lobster. They need to serve HOT real, not clarified butter. Or tasteless oil as what I was given. I am very disappointed when a Wisconsin restaurant does not serve real butter with salty whey solids in it. I added butter from the table to try and get some butter flavor and it did not melt. The candle in the warmer did nothing. The lobster was coated in Paprika. . What chef thinks that is a good idea? The star of lobster is the sweet taste. All I could taste, even after scraping it off, was putrid paprika. I might as well ordered Tilapia. We went here for our anniversary. The food was amazing. My husband had the duck and it was very good. (As an ex-chef he's hard to please especially since he makes excellent duck). I had the fillet mignon and it was perfectly prepared. The baked French onion soup was some of the best we've had. We were seated at a table with a view of the lake which was lovely. My only complaint might be that the service seemed a little rushed but they serve a lot of courses so that may be why. Definitely make reservations here. read more

What a gem! Locals and tourists. Traveling for work, never been to a supper club. Walleye is ridiculous!!! Black cherry whiskey old fashion must have! They make their own mix and you can purchase. this is a return visit after a year. the first time was unimpressive and was hoping to have a better food experience this time. But it was not to happen, the quality of the baked stuffed shrimp was pitiful. the shrimp were so very tiny and the stuffing covered the whole shrimp which is not saying much. the platter wasn't even a third covered by the shrimp. the guys had the perch and they seriously thought they were smelt they were so small. No flavor to the perch and for the price it was a huge disappointment. Can't say we will try this place again. For $80-100 per couple we can buy steaks and make them at home and have plenty of food. Sorry, I really hoped to have a good meal and report on it. OH Well. read more

We love this Supper Club! Today is the holiday weekend of the 4th of July and they are very busy and refusing anyone who didn't make reservations. Fortunately we did and the service was good. The old fashions here are outstanding and have never wavered. They have the best French onion soup as well. The entrees are it and miss and the same dish may be great and the next time you order it's just fair. Unfortunately this was one of those times. Looking forward to my next visit. read more

Was in town visiting the local boy scout camp. I had the roast duck and my girl friend had the Mahi Mahi. She started with the baked French onion soup. The soup was very good. I had the salad for my starter. The duck was al lot of food accompanied by hash brown potatoes. We decided to take the desserts to go, a lemon cake and a chocolate cream cake. Both did not disappoint. The place was a homey wood paneled place with a very north woods atmosphere. Perfect for Wisconsin. Sorry Fireside, we have been coming here for many years, but the changes recently have been unsatisfactory. Pre-mixes old fashioned's - you can do better. The tender says she is so busy she can't muddle all orders. Well, they were not that busy at all last night. There were three people at the bar at 7:15P on a Friday! That said, waitresses are great - they could not be nicer. The Food - ugh - all sides are served in these kids plastic containers, mac, beans, cole slaw, everything. The fish was not worth reporting. The containers and premade drinks make the service fast - no doubt that's what the owner wants, but at the cost of good food! And in the end, staid, passionless service. And ..... the receipts indicate incorrect tips percentage - indicating a lower % for the servers. No clear if deliberate from owner. Sorry Fireside - show us you care about quality like previous times, and we will return. Lot of alternatives in Rhinelander. read more

Came here and ordered the fillet and lobster dinner. The lobster was okay. The so-called fillet was extremely tough and had tenants running through it. It was definitely cooked very rare and I had a hard time cutting through with a serrated steak knife. Also ordered a old-fashioned. The old fashion was not muddled with orange or cherry. The food is decent, but what establishment doesn't let a party of one eat at the bar? I travel alone quite often and prefer not to sit at a table alone. I prefer to sit at the bar. It's very odd to demand someone take up a table and not serve food at the bar. Especially when the dining room is full and the bar is empty. Getting my food to go. Unfortunately, we did not have a very good experience on New Year's Eve. It started out fine. We sat at the bar and had a drink while waiting for our table. Once we were seated, the waitress asked if we'd like an appetizer. We order the calamari. We thought it was odd that the calamari was brought out less than a few minutes after ordering. I guess it was made in advance and left under a heat lamp because it was chewy and the breading was soggy. Ordered salads, soups and our entrees. The salad was also pre-made and was wilted. The soups never came out, but our entrees did. When I asked our waitress about the soups, she looked confused and asked if we hadn't received them. When I told her we had not, she asked if we'd like the soups to go. (??) I said no and she went to go get them. My entrée (seafood platter) was not good. The shrimp were overcooked and the haddock and scallops were undercooked. The boyfriend's ribeye was very fatty and grisly. It was a good size, though. When she brought out the soups, (I had the baked French onion) the cheese had an odd shine on it. I was able to peel the top of the cheese off in one sheet. I guess it had been sitting a while. I understand that you have to pre-make some things when you have a very busy night, but this was ridiculous. We spent over $120 for a meal that was barely edible. Also, you might consider removing a few of the tables for a little more room. We sat at a 2 seater next to the corner of the bar and my chair was constantly being bumped by customers. I will say that the wait staff and host were extremely nice. We really wanted to like Fireside, but it just wasn't enjoyable. read more

After a had days motorcycle ride you get hungry. This oasis next to a lake was a welcome sight and one of the few clubs that had seating. It has a bar for the locals and a lower level dining area. Traditional menu with expected flavors. The waitstaff were great. read more

This was my second chance for Fireside. It's always in the top supper clubs. The first time I went it was not very good. The cut of ribeye was grizzly and not that flavorful . But I decided that maybe it was a fluke so I tried it again. I ordered the shrimp tempura appetizer which was excellent but the rib eye was again grizzly and not very flavorful. The baked potato was still hard. The salad was kind of skimpy but tasted good. The French Onion soup cheese had a strange consistency in my mouth and I didn't finish it. I will give 5 stars to the waitress who was very friendly and attentive. I won't be going back and I don't understand how it's always busy. read more

We tried this restaurant two times this week and loved it. Ross did a really good job making old fashions and Kelly made probably the best cosmos in Rhinelander. We were really impressed with the steak combos. I had steak and crab legs and my husband had the steak and stuffed shrimp. Both steaks were cooked to perfection and the seafood was very good. We had the shrimp cocktail which tasted very fresh a little on the smaller side but it was still very good. The next time we came back for the fish fry and it was very good as well. Monday night reservation for 7:00pm. We extremely appreciate that they were taking reservations - table was set and ready exactly upon our arrival. The restaurant was packed but our server was super attentive and we had drinks in our hands within 10 minutes of seating. Classic supper club menu with all the extras - crackers, bread, salad and soup with every entree. Orders included fried haddock, lamb chops with mint jelly (delish!), scallop fettuccine, rack of ribs and surf & turf. All delicious and no complaints! We left extremely satisfied!
