Really great to have a nice, friendly local place to grab a bite. Food was excellent and Cindy smiled and was nice. All four of us dining enjoyed the experience. Keep it up. read more

Worst "fish fry" we've had. Looked like bloated fish sticks obviously Sysko or other frozen fare just fried. Fries were bland. Nothing was hit. Wait staff never checked on us (maybe another cocktail) but busy chatting with a table of friends. Arely ate anything and my husband noted she picked up your plate without comment ! Such a shame the view is the best thing here. read more

Food was amazing, especially the potato pancakes! My husband loved the Cajun baked fish and the coleslaw. Our waitress was super nice and very quick. The food was out way faster than expected! My only regret is not getting our waitresses name to include her in this review because she was truly a delight. We were the family with the baby boy on Friday for the fish fry that sat next to the window. read more

It was a great place to go to. The food is great but don't get the Mac n cheese. There's bags to play while waiting for your food. It is a great place and has good service. The ambiance is so pretty. read more

One of the best restaurants in the Northwoods. Great food with variety and you can always depend on great service.Well Done!

Really enjoyed our dinner here. The building, location and ambiance is great. They are located on the water of the Eagle River chain so the view out of the entire wall of windows is stunning. Decor is undated rustic Northwoods. The light fixture above the bar is stunningly made from a huge tree trunk and has to be seen to be understood but trust me. It is beautiful. The dining room is spacious and welcoming. Our waitress was right on the ball. Arrived to our table promptly, was attentive but gave us space and time to visit and decide. Eventually, she came back with a warning of an upcoming big party so we ordered right away then and our meals came out in perfect timing. The lobster bisque was a very tasty starter for me and was a nice side option for my friend. No chunks of lobster but the seasoning and taste was just right, so no need for salting. I had the Kimchee ribs special. Wow! So tender and juicy. They slid right off the bone, and the wild rice side with avocado was tasty. My daughter had a "spicy" chicken wrap that they happily modified to not be as spicy and she loved it. My friend tried the mushroom Swiss burger that her husband had the previous time and it did not disappoint. My other friend had the brisket sandwich. The meat was tasty but a little dry. Could have used a little more sauce or juice. HOWEVER, he said that the yummy coleslaw on top served as a perfect "moistener". Overall a delicious meal was had by all. read more

Kickback Grill - Kim chee BBQ ribs. Fall off the bone tender and tasty! While this was a special, they do have a similar chicken dish on the menu - New American Near Me - Eagle River, Wisconsin

This used to be one of our favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, our experience today has changed our minds. We went there for lunch. The service/server was great, but the food left a lot to be desired. I had the bangn' shrimp wrap and it tasted like it was made yesterday, stored in the fridge, and then warmed up. It obviously was not made fresh, which is surprising because it was not even busy. The fries looked raw and when bit into tasted like cardboard. Again, they tasted like they were premade and then barely warmed up. Very disappointing considering the cost.... read more

3.5 stars. I feel like kickback never quite lives up to my expectations, and it should probably deserve a higher rating given its quality vs other Northwoods eateries, but as an upscale grill where you're paying $28 for an entree, I feel the need to hold it to a higher standard. Plus it feels like kickback has the chance to be some of, if not THE, best food in eagle river. Solid service, Ambiance, And selection. Great bar. And we love being able to pull our boat up and park on-site, plus the patio and yard space is great for summer time eating and kids. I've probably been here 12 times over the last few years and am still seeking that A+ meal. Their fish fry, burgers, handhelds, apps, and a few of the entrees I've tried have just been... solid. Come expecting a decent meal, but manage overall expectations read more

Stopped in as a party of 11 after our first choice for dinner did not work out. So glad we did! Bartenders and wait staff were very friendly. Food was really good. Cool bar and seems to be an older place that had been fixed up nicely. Great view of the lake from the dining room. read more

Stopped in for Friday night dinner. Excellent in all areas; food, ambiance, service. Choose the walleye and you won't be disappointed.

This place is a great spot for north woods vibes. The food is good, service was great, and they have lots of gluten free options (which can be hard to find up north!) They don't take reservations so be prepared to wait, but you can grab a drink and there's a huge grassy area for kids to play read more

This place is awesome! We docked our boat and were greeted by a nice man who put us on the waiting list for outdoor dining. He set up bag toss for us to play and directed us towards the bar. Drinks were reasonably priced and the wait for a table was minimal. Food was delivered quickly and everything was great! I got the beet salad and tried the rueben sandwich with GF bread. The beet salad was way better than expected, great quality! My kids got cheese curds and chicken tender meals & my parents got burgers, again all very good. The fries were the only thing we were not a fan of as they were almost hollow inside. This place was awesome and we will return while we are here this week. We appreciated the great service too. read more

Went for the first time and am happy to report that the food tastes just as good as it looks. Sitting outside gave us a perfect backdrop for a weekend evening meal. I had the blackened tuna on a brioche bun. Slaw was delicious and perfectly balanced. Like a delicious sushi treat supersized and perfectly cooked. We ordered a walleye special that was excellent and a generous portion. The brisket sandwich was enjoyed by a close friend and also a spicy shrimp wrap. All delicious. We ate outside but the vibe inside was classy but casual enough to show up on the boat. read more

AMAZING!!!! Best food options in Eagle river!!!!!!!!!! Cindy was our server inside tonight and was very attentive. All of the food is so fresh, creative, and unique to most other places on the chain. Dock space available for boats, and extensive parking via car. Next to the Hiawatha inn with a covered walkway if it's not great weather. Awesome lake views. Thanks read more

Pros: Friendly staff and great view. Some of the food was good. Cons: Some of the food was not good. I got the spicy tuna Bahn-mi and it was good. My husband got the prime rib nachos and they were not good. First, there was a scant amount of prime rib and the horseradish cream drizzle had zero flavor of horseradish. But, the worst part was the chips. I mean, if you are going to have nachos on the menu, how hard is it to get decent chips? read more

Excellent food, staff was amazing and drinks were delicious! Such a great atmosphere and can't wait to go back!

Went for a afternoon drink with an appetizer. Beautiful setting which is the best I've seen in Eagle River....bar decor is lovely and the cheese curds the best! If you ask me....cell phones should be banned from employees during their shift. Bartender spent more time on her phone texting than talking to customers. Will try back for dinner in the dining room. Very clean establishment! Nice. read more

Saturday night special is Prim Rib. It was supperb. Suggest having it blackened. Add additional flavor.

Used to come here alot before it was Kickback. Stopped coming because the old place closed. Found out this place opened and decided to give it a try. They do not seat you unless your whole party is present but we were seated immediately as soon as everyone was there. They have a really big bar and a small area of games for kids. Our waitress was really friendly and the view was absolutely beautiful. We ordered a bunch of apps and they were all really good. Food came out fast and hot. Everything we ordered was really good. My ONLY complain is that we got the lava cake for dessert and it honestly could have used some ice cream. They cake itself was really rich ans dense so that would have been nice to break that up. I would definitely recommend this place and will be visiting again soon. read more

They need help. The slaw had NO dressing. The fish looked like it came from a "Gordon's frozen sticks" and heated in a not -too hot oven. The beans would have had more flavor if they were canned Bush's. The best thing was the view and the club soda was served in glads read more

"Kick-Out" Grill is not Worth the Trouble On a Saturday evening after my Father's funeral, our plan to dine with 30 relatives was telephoned 4 hours in advance to this establishment for a 5:00 PM timetable. While 22 of us arrived at the time stated, eight were a bit tardy due to being from out of town, etc. This restaurant was chosen as it was an absolute favorite of my brother's family many times over. The poor customer service began as the waitstaff and hostess began whining about everyone in our party not being there at the same time. At 5:15, two four-top tables were given away that were being held for our stragglers. When my two out of town children came around 5:20, they were told to wait in the bar with a beeper hockey puck, and to expect to wait an hour! My elderly uncle from Texas and his date were also made to wait in the bar until we intervened. Our group asked to move the tables to allow more of us to fit together and we were told, "we don't do that!" Fast forward to the end of the meals; we all paid our bills (around $1,200.00 total) and a couple of us stood up to talk to others on the ends of the tables. A 40-something guy in casual clothing, wearing a baseball cap (who had been delivering cocktails from the bar) came to me and said, "you can't stand here and talk, we need to walk through here, you need to go into the bar!" My cousin (whom I hadn't seen in a long time) and I walked to a larger area just adjacent to the bar to finish our conversation. This guy (who later identified himself as "the owner," approached us again and said, I told you to go into the bar!" Mystified by his behavior, I asked him, was he TRYING to start trouble?" My cousin and I moved to the bar and he started pestering us again! Then the back and forth between he and I escalated to him telling me to leave! I told him that my brother who ate there often, spending good money would not be pleased by his outburst, and the ("owner") said, "I don't care!" For the record, alcohol was not a factor. My cousin reported to the group what had occurred and all 29 others left immediately, with some going back in to see this man to complain about the overall experience. Interestingly, as they were speaking (heatedly) to this man, several big sweatshirted, bearded, hat-wearing (wannabe bodyguard) men stood up from their barstools to maddog them by leaning in while they spoke. So classless and telling. If this guy was truly "the owner," his manner of ownership in a customer service industry is the absolute worst I've ever seen! His waitstaff obviously follows his lead and attitude, so there's that too. Skip this place unless you're a bearded, hat-wearing, good old local boy yourself. It's not worth the stress for a meal! He better hope his business survives a typical looooong northern WI winter when he can't afford to be as much of a jerk to unfamiliar customers. Of course no one from our group will ever return; even my brother. I hope that's what was this guy's objective, because he succeeded! read more

By far the best bartender we've ever had. She crushes it and is always there for the customers. The food, out of the this world for lunch. The wings top 10, but best in the north woods. Super big, great sauces. I can't recommend kickback more than I already have. The best in eagle river, winter or summer. read more

The most delicious steak I've ever eaten! The Kickback Grill might look like a standard North Woods bar/resturant but inside you will find a gorgeous view of the lake and a unique menu which includes high-end cuisine. I chose the filet with a blue cheese and wine reduction sauce which was to die for. My dad raved about the Prime rib and sister loved the brisket pasta. We can't wait to go back. read more

Arrived at 7:30 on a Friday night. We were told it would be a thirty minute wait. We went to wait at the bar. I went to check with the hostess at 8:15 and was told our table would be ready shortly. I went back to the bar and ordered another beer as it was too late to go to another restaurant. We finally got seated at 8:45 at a barroom table that had been vacant the whole time! Our server was outstanding, the fish fry was average, plus they had run out of bread. When the check came I got out my credit card and the server informed us that there was a 2% surcharge for using the card. I asked what percentage discount we were getting for not getting bread and for spending an extra $10 at the bar because we were seated 35 minutes after we were told. She said she'd check with her boss, no discount was given and the surcharge stayed. We live near here year round and we're regulars at the owners previous restaurant. We will not be returning read more
