We've been here 4 times over that past few months and it's our FAVORITE for fish fry that you can get *ANY DAY OF THE WEEK!* Excellent bloody Marys, consistently excellent fish fry, and my husband considers the rueben "to die for." All the fried stuff (curds, fries, rings) always done right, hot, crisp, the kitchen isn't sloppy with these delicious standards. Re: staff - we've had nothing but very helpful, friendly service, even when it's really busy. Unfortunately, we've never seen a staff member with a mask during our visits, and it's rare to see other customers with masks, so we're hesitant to go back again as they don't seem to be taking COVID precautions seriously. read more

My family and I were at Catfish lake for Memorial Day weekend and on our way back to Chicago we were looking for a local restaurant in town that looked good. Saw they were open on Yelp and their food looked really good so the 6 of us went. We got the cheese curds and fried pickles for an appetizer and they were incredible. Some of the best cheese curds I've had and I've been to all the spots in Milwaukee. I got the rueben and my brother got the steak sandwich special and we split it 50/50 and both were excellent. The rest of my family said their food was really good as well. The table next to us got the bloody merry and they looked fire. Unfortunately I was not in the mood for one after the weekend. Wife and I went here for the first time last week for the fish fry, and it was great. The Cod filets were a premium/quality cut and were cooked perfectly. Very moist, sweet and flaky. The best ever, and I've had a lot of fish fry's over the years. It's also fantastic that you can come here any day of the week (that they're open) and get the fish fry. My wife had a Brandy old fashion sweet that was the best she's had in a long time. No skimping on the brandy. The hand cut fries had a lot of flavor too. The restaurant and bar area looked very clean but we had to remove 1 star for the restrooms which are in need of remodeling. Will be returning soon for the fish fry again and to try one of those "awesome" bloody mary's. Very standard food in a cozy woodsy cabin setting standard for Eagle River. My husband and I came here and it seems like everyone loved their Bloody Mary drinks piled with summer sausage and pickles and cheese cubes. We opted for some stick to your ribs comfort food- I got to try the fish fry, three generous portions of fried fish fillets with fries and coleslaw, and my husband got the Reuben sandwich. The food was not memorable, and the service was not too great though the place was slammed. Seems like they get most of their service from the bar with their $1 jello shots. Best fish fry around. From Chicago and ALWAYS go to here when I am in town. The have amazing Bloody Mary's and the pudding shots are good too. I HIGHLY recommend to anyone visiting or local. We will start off with the food: Wallete lunch was excellent. Great sides, plenty of fish. Would give it a 9/10. Chicken salad with pecans/raisins: not much chicken and a horrid raspberry dressing that mimics pepto bismol. But here's the worst thing: ONE waitress who took orders over the phone, took payments, made change, seated customers, got the bar order... for an entire dining room full of people. She had a bad attitude, but given the circumstances I'm not surprised. Did all of it without wearing a mask, so gross! I was new in town and my boyfriend's family lives here. Apparently the Friday fish fry is what you do on a Friday night! So, we all gathered here for dinner. Yum! It was pretty yummy. The place was packed. The fish was lightly battered and well done at that. I didn't have the french fries and fried food can upset my stomach, but I did have the potato salad which was yummy. The cole slaw was ok, but a bit juicy for me. My boyfriend loved all of it. I wasn't sure what the Rye bread was about. I had a decent beer with it and all had a great time. We went on a Thursday evening with a group of 6. Not very crowded so we got to sit right down. The bartender was also our server. He took our drink order and promptly returned with our drinks. A great Wisconsin pour. 4 of us ordered the Baby Walleye Plate, 1 had the Cod Filets and the last had the barley a carb burger. Every thing was excellent. Crispy fish, good coleslaw and fries. Nope, nada, no! The 1 star is for their service and attitude. This was second attempt to eat at this establishment. Last year over an hour wait, last night we were 2nd up to bat for 2 people, I moved off out of the way trying to avoid stand over the patrons all ready eating or waiting for their food to arrived. It was 6PM, the kid taking names was not the friendliest, and he wandered over by me by the kitchen doors, and I hear what I assumed to be the manager yell out, cut em off 7:45! Meaning stop taking names. The place is to small to feed a Boy Scout club. Plus they put a notice on the front door, due to upgrades they were no longer taking cards, Cash only! WTH, what upgrades? Got to say, not the best. My family and I have been coming here for decades and it's only gone further downhill every year. We went tonight, it was packed but service was nowhere to be seen. This restaurant was suggested by a couple of fellows in town that work for a local business. (AWI, a welding school) We very much enjoyed our burgers , but we especially appreciated the deep-fried cheese curds. The breading was incredible. Very light and tasty. The staff is just surly. Go somewhere friendly instead. We stopped in by boat and were greeted at the front door by a really rude hostess. Fish fry at the Honey Bear? I can handle that. Even though the fish is frozen and sent over from China according to the waitress who I'll quote "doesn't care what I order". On second thought. Forget that! Maybe I can't handle the Honey Bear. If I ever end up at this place I'll have to order the giant Bloody Mary, even though I'm allergic to all the ingredients just to survive the poor service and mediocre fish fry...and it better be for free. One different distraction created for bored customers were the plastic soda bottle on each table filled with seeds and random objects such as a pin, rolling eyeball, a tac etc. The point is to try to find all the objects listed on the bottle.
