Best fish sandwich EVER!! Very friendly staff. Can't wait to go back. We went during the afternoon, Becca we knew the evenings are very busy. I'm glad we were able to do that. It was really a nice place to eat. read more

Loved the food and Bloody Mary!! Service was awesome and very pretty restaurant and bar area!

Went last night for the fish fry. Outstanding is the summary. Two large pieces of cod, lightly battered and excellent quality. Great Cole slaw. Several choices on the menu but believe "fried" was only option not baked. Definitely will be back. read more

Honey Bear Inn - Great cod - Seafood Near Me - Eagle River, Wisconsin

If you're going for the walleye dinner, fried chicken, or the shrimp, you can't go wrong!! Great taste, always consistent. The bar is good. Usually very busy so don't be surprised.... but there's a good reason they're busy! Definitely recommended!!! And always a few flavors of pudding shots! read more

Hands down the best Fish Fry in the country. I drive from Milwaukee just for the walleye and two, tree Bear Ales. Been coming to Honey Bear for 9 years and have never been let down. read more

Excellent food! They make great drinks and staff is always friendly! Food comes out HOT and fast! Thanks as always and we will continue to dine here. We are lucky to live in the Northwoods and have such great places to eat! read more

The quality of the food has really gone downhill. I ordered a fish fry dinner, cheese curds and chicken tenders for carryout. I tried a bite in the car before I drove home. The cheese curds were the worst I've ever had, essentially greasy cheese blobs without batter, The fish was okay, the french fries were soggy (either from grease or being cold) and the coleslaw was lacking in flavor and didn't even have a sauce. The best part about the meal was the chicken tenders and they were mediocre. The cheese curds and chicken tenders were ordered ala carte rather than as a meal and each was $8. I won't be going back there and I would suggest any place else has got to have better cheese curds than Honey Bear Inn. I was so surprised to see so many people there on a Saturday afternoon. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Man this is a great bar, burger and sandwich eatery! Good quality food. A must stop just outside Eagle River. read more

Friday fish fry was amazing. Fish was cooked perfectly, in the Ryebread was soft with great flavor.

The cod dinner was generously sized. The baby walleye was excellent. It was a good sized bloody mary for the price. Place was super busy and there was only 1 waitress else would've given it 5 stars. Waitress was as attentive as she could be considering it was packed. I'd go back again! read more

best cheese curds i've ever had. the ranch was incredible. expect to wait a bit but the food is worth it. fish fry is good when you add a little lemon. portions are big. fries are fine but not amazing. the bloody mary is a big portion w lots of toppings. Jodie is a sweet waitress. read more

Honestly one of the best lunches I've ever had. Bloody Mary's are awesome! Friend picked we're absolutely the best I've ever had. Fish sandwich amazing! The fish was cooked perfect. BBQ pork sandwich yum! The grilled honey bear chicken sandwich please teach others how to cook a chicken sandwich like this. Omg yum! We come up here multiple times a year and now have a must visit spot! read more

My husband and I were staying at the Wild Eagle Lodge for a week and looking for a good Wisconsin fish fry. We decided to try out the Honey Bear because the menu said fried fish daily ( not just Friday night). It was excellent. Very large portion and very tasty! The cheese curds are amazing too - true Wisconsin style! And of course, being from Wisconsin (now living in Iowa), we had to have an Old Fashioned. Hands down probably the best one we have ever had so far. The young waitress we had did an amazing job and was very friendly. We will definitely be back next time we come up north!! read more

Food was good, maths were excellent. Only complaint is that the waitress must been having a bad day. She went out of her way to be unpleasant read more

Delicious, simple dinner! They mixed a good drink, poured a good beer and were attentive. Can't ask for more than that on a Monday night! Nothing fancy, but good read more

Come hungry! Large portions for sure. All the food was delicious. The service was prompt and on point. We will definitely come back again when we are in the area. They do charge $1 to split plates, but easily worth it. They also charge 3% to use a credit card, but nothing for debit. read more

This is absolutely my favorite place to eat when we come up here! Everything is good no matter what you order! Appetizers are all good, their Bloody Mary's (almost a meal in itself) are the best around, and no matter what we have tried (pretty much everything on the menu after coming up here for as many years as we have!) has been DELICIOUS!!!! It's a great place!!!! read more

They get one star only because zero stars is not an option. So we walk into this place at about 1:30 on a Friday afternoon. We made the trek out there as we heard they have the best Bloody Mary in town. We were greeted with, "Are you here to eat?" A bit taken aback I said we were just there for drinks, but one person in our group said she might like to eat something to which the waitress replied, "well if you're going to eat tell me now because we're about to stop serving food!" So we said no just drinks, but then were snapped at to "close the door, the air conditioner is on!" I could go on, because it didn't get any better but you get the gist. I was under the impression that this was a restaurant and as such would probably be making food from open to close, guess not. So if you plan to go there and eat you might want to call ahead and see if they are serving food today. Bottom line, we were made to feel extremely unwelcome from the moment we stepped in; it was obvious that she did NOT want us in there. We did order 4 Bloody Mary's which were fine but by no means anything special. Even if they were, I would never set foot in this place again. read more

My favorite place for Ribs! They are wonderful! I try to eat here every trip to ER. Check hours they vary.

This seems to be one of the few restaurants in the area that does a fish fry every night. Most restaurants seem to only offer the fish fry on Fridays. The restaurant is small, and in our experience, if the night is slow they will close before their posted hours. I would advise calling ahead before heading out to the Honey Bear. My fried baby walleye was the excellent, cooked in a crisp light batter. The fish was mild and fresh tasting. For $17.99 I received 4 large fillets, choice of potato, coleslaw, and two slices of fresh rye bread. Tap beers were only $3.50. I would recommend the Honey Bear if you are looking for fried fish any night of the week. read more

We have been coming here for years and have always had a great meal. For this visit, we came for lunch and as always, the soup was great and the sandwiches were top notch. Service can be slow especially when they get slammed for lunch so sit in the Bar room for better ambiance and to make eye contact with the bartender in case you want to get another drink a little quicker! Overall it was a great visit and we will be back read more

We brought the girls here because of a recommendation from a local gentleman. He said it was some of the best fried fish in the Northwoods, and he was right. When we got there, we had a bit of a wait so we took the girls in the big backyard and watched them play hide and seek while the wife and I had a Spotted Cow. I had the fish and detected a hint of either allspice or nutmeg in the batter which was a nice surprise. The batter was not heavy or greasy at all. The potato salad was ok and the cole slaw seemed store bought. The girls shared a burger that was the size of their plate. Overall, good little place with good fried fish. Especially if you are looking for fried fish that is not all batter and greasy with some different spices in the batter. read more

I had the Eagle River salad--chicken, craisins, and pecans with raspberry vinaigrette. Delicious!

Amazing fish fry. Perfect addition to any trip up north. We were so full we couldn't even finish our beers and that's saying something.

Honey Bear's food is always fresh and delicious. Their Friday night fish fry is the epitome of Wisconsin North woods dining. They also have delicious chicken and dumpling soup, and an amazing $5 Bloody Mary on Saturday nights. Very friendly service from Sarah and Corrine. Takes reservations for 6 or more. read more

The food is great, one of the best fish fries around (and served every night). The staff is fine. Recommend yoh go early as they do fill up fast. read more

Having a vacation home in Eagle River for the last 20+ years, this is our go-to Friday night fish fry. The wait can be tough (I blame the Chicagoans), but the bar is clean and there's a nice outside patio to wait with a pitcher of beer. The fish itself has a great batter on it, not greasy at all. Get the baby walleye!! Flaky, flavorful, and a healthy portion. The cole slaw is unfortunately overly sweet, but the fries are pretty decent. We've gotten individual plates and also have been served family style. And though it's not all-you-can-eat, we've never left hungry. Though of course Friday is the traditional fish fry night, they do serve their delicious baby walleye (and other fish fry choices) every night - without the long wait for a table. read more

We came in for dinner tonight, and after waiting at the counter for a few minutes we were turned away for the evening around 6:45PM - on Saturday. We came in last night for dinner a bit earlier and stood quietly by the door for at least a good 20 minutes before anybody really spoke to us. We enjoyed the food which is why we came back. The fish fry, bbq sandwich, and cheese curds were good. read more

This is one of my favorite places to stop in the northwoods. The fish fry is amazing, the atmosphere is quaint, and the bar is extremely clean. Great place to have a drink, inside or out, while you wait to be seated. The prices are good and the food is always hot. Definitely an Eagle River must! Large groups make sure to call ahead. read more

Homemade chicken dumpling soup! Comes with a generous side of fresh fruit. Yum. Fish fry great. Really good Bloody Mary (with enough accompaniments to count as an appetizer). Waitress not very friendly. Burgers just ok. Nacho platter good. They don't serve food outside but they do have a deck. read more

Soup and fish were delicious!!! Good service. Small cozy atmosphere. Definitely a place we would go back to.

Not only do they have the best fish fry - they also have the best bloody Mary's! Expect a wait during the summer (any day of the week), but they have a great deck for drinking/hanging on summer nights. read more

Our first visit to Eagle River. Tried the Honey Bear for a late lunch on a Tuesday. There was no wait to eat in the bar and maybe a short wait for a table. Fabulous bloody mary, and the baby walleye plate was probably some of the best fish fry we've ever had (and we've had many, many in the Milwaukee area)! A really cute place the bartender was very friendly. read more

Excellent Friday fish fry. Be sure to ask for lemon slices with yours if you want them. They're not included and this place is both too busy and short staffed to allow you an opportunity to ask for such odds and ends after food is brought to your table. Great food and reasonable prices. Several good Leinenkugel beers on tap. Have been here several times and will return. read more

Traveling a long distance with friends. Took your advice and went out of our way to find this restaurant. Congestion in Eagle River delayed our arrival on a Friday afternoon. We arrived at 2:02 PM and were turned away. A very unfriendly waitress informed us food service ends at 2:00 on Fridays. Sorry we will never return. read more

We've been trying to take our large family here for fish for years and were finally able to acquire enough seats for our group of 15 thanks to the fact they now serve their fish fry every night of the week. The bar service was slow while waiting for our tables but the host made such great effort to get out group seated together. The fish fry was amazing as was the half pound burger. We sincerely appreciated the effort to accommodate our large group on a busy Tuesday night! read more

Best burgers in da Northwoods! Happy to give my money to this establishment despite the cranky staff and weird hours I keep coming back because their food is EXCEPTIONAL! read more

Very good fish fry. Tried the baked garlic fish & it was very buttery and tasty. Not gourmet, but good lodge / diner type food. Excellent Bloody Mary- a meal in itself with pickled goodies packed in and topped off with a cocktail shrimp. Chaser of bud light apparently a tradition here. The baby walleye was really soft and good. Worthwhile fish fry located on a lake. Small friendly interior with lodge/ lake decor. read more

We've tried this place three times, attempting to give them the benefit of the doubt. Worst to note, the service. The first time it was 2 of us, and after being seated we were unattended to for 15-20 min. I got up and got us menus. Following our fish dinner, which was amazingly salty, I was forced to find my own water. The last time, which will truly be the last time, the service was horrendous. We were told the wait would be 1/2 hour, and it was, in fact, 1 hour and 20 min. Five of us were seated at a table for 4, and not comfortably - one of us literally had a corner to eat from. We asked for more water and the waitress plopped a pitcher on the table. We all ordered the fish fry, which is not all you care to eat, and a plate of fish and plate of fries was delivered. I think the fish should have been individually plated as I'm not sure we even got a fair share. Of course, the 1/2 piece of rye bread we were allotted filled our tummies, even if the teeny scoop of potato salad didn't. Many other restaurant choices in the area - in my opinion, skip this one. It's worth the wait to head to Eagle Waters. read more
