Knocker's has been a long standing business in St. Germain for well over a decade specializing in Pizza, Sandwiches, Local Brews on tap, and even fish fry on Friday's. The inside is extremely spacious and has a beautiful 360 bar, which is a great hangout spot for watching any and all Wisconsin sports teams. Although I haven't had their pizza in quite some time (it's delicious), I'd really like highlight their sandwiches. I've tried almost every sandwich on the menu include their occasional special sandwiches (prime rib sandwich is incredible). Each sandwich comes with your choice of potato (I believe they make their own chips from scratch?) and the portions on both the side and the sandwich are mind blowing. The Reuben for example is piled so high with meat there has to be at least 11 slices inside making it about 4" tall with the bread on top. If you get the steak sandwich, it comes with a giant pile of deep friend onion straws and horse radish. The steak is always cooked to perfection and is extremely tender. If you're a fan of Tribute Brewing in Eagle River, they carry a few of their brews on tap! My favorite is Blueberry Train & it pairs surprisingly well with pizza. I genuinely love this place, but I have to warn you that like most places up here, service can be slow. If you're new to the area or not used to having to wait a bit for service, it may come to a shock to you but there's a labor shortage here so please be kind to all restaurant workers in the North Woods, ESPECIALLY during tourist season. read more

My family and I have come here the last few years for dinner when we are in town. The food is amazing and they have a lot of great options, but the wait times are very long. I would recommend the Reuben and any of their pizzas! However, I have a peanut allergy and when asking the server what kind of oil they use her response was "I have no idea." Best pizza in the area (and we've tried them all!) There are a lot of average pizza options in the Northwoods. Overloaded and unbalanced with soggy crust. Or overpriced and underwhelming. Knockers is none of those things! Called in a carry out order on Memorial Day, hostess promptly answered and said our pizza would be ready in 25 mins (it was done early even with the restaurant being full on a holiday weekend). $20 for a 16" single topping. It was perfectly cooked and extremely well balanced with a crispy but chewy thin crust, nice spice on the pepperoni, just enough cheese without being overloaded, perfect sauce-to-crust-to-cheese ratio. Loved the cornmeal on the crust. Is this a 5-star pizza in Milwaukee or Chicago, no. But it's a great pizza option in the Northwoods and certainly one that will be a part of our rotation going forward. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

Ordered a 16 inch loaded pizza for a pick up. Told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Arrived in time to find out that it would be at least another 10 minutes. My guess, they didn't make it yet. The place was almost empty, so being too busy was not the reason my pizza was not ready. When I got the pizza home and opened the box, I found that our 16 inch pizza was only a 12 inch pizza. I was not given a receipt and could not bring proof of this to management, so I just paid a lot more for this pizza then I should have. The prices here are more than I expected (and I am from Chicago) but I heard that they make a tasty pizza. Unfortunately, when you get poor service, wrong orders, and end up paying for less than you receive, the value of a good pizza is just not there. read more

Being short handed is tough for any business, however, at least acknowledging your customer and explaining there may be a wait goes a long way and prevents bad reviews. Knockers is a favorite lunch spot for a weekend outing. We love the sandwiches which are so big / shareable with a great combination of ingredients and we also really like their homemade pizza . All them where overcooked And almost burnt on the bottom. Too expensive and poor quality. Pizza was not ready. At the stated time. Stopped in for lunch after visiting Eagle River on our way back to Minocqua. We walked in with a group of 10 (6 of which were young kids). The hostess said it was going to be a while because they needed to get something ready. Understandable. They say is up in the, what seemed like, banquet room by ourselves. The service was okay. She was friendly but not very attentive. It took a normal time for the pizza to arrive but the couple of us that were having beers could have stood to see her a few more times. We asked her about what pizza to get and how many we needed for the group. She really didn't seem to knowledgeable about the product. We got a cheese and a Barry's special (a meat lovers). The toppings were great. The crust was not. It seemed almost raw ion the top of the vrust. It was real doughy still. The bottom was hard and rough. Not great. 2 pizzas some beers and sodas was about $75 bucks. Not over the top but a little expensive for what we got. I cannot imagine we'll be back of we are in the neighborhood again. Would not suggest this place. Find a local tavern. We went and found the Bull Pen bar. Excellent food and way better service. Staff was terribly rude at knockers. The waitresses need to be more respectful and nice they should not be yelling across the bar and slamming our menus in our tables. I had a very unpleasant experience with the owner of Knocker Pizza Co Inc in St. Germain. Around 10:00 am I went to mark a spot for the parade that started at 3:00 and was aggressively approved by the owner asking what I was doing. After explaining to him and letting him know we have been doing this for years he continued to yell and tell me that it is his property and it will take away from his business and we couldn't set up in front of his place of business. There were other spots marked next to where we were going to set up and people had chairs out saving spots all up and down the road for the parade. Needless to say we did end up moving off of his "property" and finding a new place. As he walked into his restaurant he yelled "you should bring a port-a-potty because you won't be coming in here!" This was the town's 4th of July celebration and to be approached so aggressively by a business owner of the town is a poor reflection on St. Germain. read more

This has got to be the best place in St Germain. The pizza is outstanding. So is the smoked turkey wrap. And the lasagna on Thursdays is huge, delicious, and really reasonably priced. You have to get there early to get the Lasagna. They usually sell out by about 6:00 PM. The service is fast in he dining room. A little slower in the bar if only one guy is working. Been driving by this place for a couple years now. Finally got the chance to give it a try. Ordered cheese garlic bread for an appetizer. It was everything it should have been and a bit more. Lots of melted cheesy goodness on home made bread, with a cup of oregano infused marinara to dip it in. We ordered a large sausage pizza with a couple toppings. I'm rating Knockers high because they offer freshly made-to-order gluten-free pizza. Anyone who's GF knows this is a real treat. Not only did they offer it, but they also cooked it to perfection. We have been there three years in a row and ordered the exact same pizza each time. The first year I. Thought the pizza was one of the best pizza's that I ever had. Last year the pizza didn't taste anything like the year before. It had no pazas. We went there yesterday and again ordered the exact same pizza thinking last year was just a mistake. Well it wasn't. Although they are super generous with the toppings the pizza has no taste. We took over half the pizza home and I will be throwing it out tomorrow. We previously rated them as 3 stars, I was not real happy. But we ate lunch and dinner here a number of times in 2015. They have improved a great deal since they moved to their new location in St Germain (used to be on a lake). Very happy now with the quality of their great pizza, and great (and big) sandwiches. Only place I've been to where cottage cheese is a choice of potato! Love it - we get sick of fries. Love their side/garden salad - delicious, fresh. Really cold beer. Full bar & has some fun specialty drinks. Lots of room inside and some games to play near the bar. Used to be inconsistent and stressed out. Currently they seem to be running smoothly even when the place is packed. Very pleased with all food and service now. Big dining room, bar tables, and big bar. Plenty of room at bar to eat & drink. Family-friendly. They have a couple of amazing bartenders who are also friendly and fun. read more
