I have a second home in Minocqua and we have frequented Rustic Pines for over 5 years. We supported their establishment through Covid and beyond. I am regular enough to expect a friendly "hey, great to see you" but this has not and will not occur, ever. Whether they are busy or not there is something missing in the sole of this place. A great fish fry does not make up for being treated like they could "take or leave" your business. Do yourself a favor and go to Black Bear where the food and ambiance is just as good but the Service actually appreciates that you decided to come in. read more

First visit to Rustic Pines Pub - just 10 minutes West of Minocqua on Hwy 70. Cute Northwoods decor. New bartender Kim, took great care of us - taking time to introduce herself and welcome us to Rustic Pines Pub. She made an excellent Wisconsin classic - Brandy Old Fashioned. I had the Mushroom Swiss Burger smothered in brown gravy and fries and she tried the evening special - butterfly shrimp dinner and fries. Food was excellent - above average "bar food" for sure. Had to deduct a star for something simple - charging for an extra cocktail sauce seemed a little unnecessary. Nonetheless, Kim made it a fun visit and the food was delicious. Enjoy, we did. I like to support small businesses that work in a tough industry where hiring can be difficult. You can appreciate the hard work of this owner. We came in to get a quick meal. No masks were required to enter. No masks worn by staff. Owner is still very friendly, but did not see any sanitizing to clean tables after customers. Meal was hot, but fries were not as hot as they should have been. Ordered hot wings, asked for extra ranch. Was told it comes with ranch. When the check came, there was a .50 charge. They said the wings come with a small cup of ranch, so we were to assume the standard sized cup contained the extra we'd asked for. However, we we're not told that. The waitress seemed unfriendly and could barely smile. She did not show how much a beer or how much the Bloody Mary was. Our appetizers were very good, but our pizzas were overdone, our bill was wrong (we were charged for food we did not receive), our waitress was rude, and we won't be back. This is our second bad experience here. We gave it a second chance because we've seen good reviews, but I'm thinking the people giving good reviews may be good friends of the owners. Had excellent pizzas for lunch. The toppings plus loads of cheese made for a delicious meal. Our grand daughter was pleased with the mini corn dogs, fries and a very small potion of applesauce. The meal was particularly fun since the dish was a keepsake frisbee! A very nice touch! The service was also excellent especially since one person seemed to be doing everything in the front end. We have been traveling northern Wisconsin extensively for over 40 years. This is a new place so the "rustic" feel at this pub begins & ends with the log wood tables and chairs. We have eaten here several times and the food has been marginal. My husband summed it up best saying we have thrown together better meals when stopping for fuel at a Kwik Trip during our travels. There are much better choices within a few miles of this Pub. The locals report the pub being open is always hit or miss and the same can be said for the mood of the owner that is still carrying issues from their bar just down the road that failed. read more
