What a great new dining place just outside of Eagle River! Doesn't look like much from the outside, and it isn't a fancy place inside in terms of the dining room. But it's new inside, clean, and the food and service have been terrific. Only been there twice, the last time with a large party, and all of the food was good - appetizers, pizzas, sandwiches, side. Friday fish fry outstanding light flacky haddock, Home made potato chips, baked beans, but the standout was the clam chowder. now I've spent a lot of time over the years in Maine where clam chowder is king . this was outstanding, so I'm surprised to find this in Wisconsin . will definitely return the next vacation . read more

Haven't been to ER for a couple years and was pleasantly surprised to come across The Heid Out. It was packed on a Sunday night, but the timing worked out for us and we were seated within twenty minutes. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, the food was hot, fast, fresh and delicious. We're looking forward to trying their pizza before we head home. read more

Came here for the second and third time within the same week. The first time was during the soft opening. Each time the food was fantastic - some in our group had pizza and raved about it. The steak sandwich was amazing, I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich once and the Fisherman's BLT tonight - all were so good! If you catch a weekend where they have either pulled pork sandwiches or pulled pork pizza, get it!! Also have to give kudos to the staff - what an incredibly hard-working and welcoming group. A special shout out to our server Gabe, who is one of the best servers we've ever had! Looking forward to coming back on our next visit up north! read more

went here on impulse with no reservations with 7 of my friends, they seated us and gave us a whole schpeel on the specials and info. appetizers came out fast and the waitress kept everything in order. got our food fast also. everything was great and it will be a place we will come back to in the future on our next vacation. read more

Waited 15 min to be seated in an almost empty dining room, only 2 tables seated, while the owner and 2 staff people were cleaning tables and sweeping the floor. This was at 7:30 on a Saturday night! Finally seated we waited at least 20 min at our table for any kind of service, no waitress, no drink order. This was after we were told that pizza would take 35 - 45 min. No one stopped to tell us they would be with us in a minute, your staff actually avoided eye contact with us. We would have been so much more understanding if someone had just acknowledged us....Left and went elsewhere read more

Pizza in a resort town can be so iffy. Customers come for a week and you may never see them again so some restaurants do the minimal. The Heid Out is NOT one of these places! We ordered four AMAZING pies that were full of flavor and absolutely delicious! The HeidOut Special was full of veggies and meat.... No skimping! Sauce was tasty, sausage and pepperoni were so flavorful. The lovely woman on the phone could not have been friendlier. I had a million questions and she found answers for all of them. The food is exceptional, especially the pizza which is loaded with toppings which are fresh and tasty. We think it's the best pizza in the Eagle River area and have returned for more on three occasions during our 1 week stay. The restaurant has seating for parties of 10 or less and the bar is often filled with patrons. Also the drink menu is extraordinary, including popular Wisconsin ice cream alcoholic beverages that are not often offered elsewhere largely because they require extra time for the bartenders to prepare. The food was great. We split the Friday fish combo. It was baked, beer batter, and buffalo batter pollock. It included home made clam chowder soup, baked beans, Cole slaw , and fries or chips. We saw this place already had FIVE stars, so we decided to check it out. If we could give it six, we would!!! The owner showed us to our table and described her family's history and explained the fantastic pictures on the wall. The crab cakes, homemade clam chowder, and fish fry were all OUTSTANDING.
