The one star is related to their move out policy. I set the move out date for the 1st of the month thinking that's when it would take effect and I would not be charged the month. I got to turn in the keys on the first of the month at 4pm. I'm told that I have a full month balance!!! Even though the unit has been emptied and I am not going to use it for the month! I tell them this is ridiculous, why wasn't I told that by going 16 hours into the 1st of the month that I would be charged? Highway robbery! Never will I use this storage company again! I recently rented from public storage. What's funny is that I didn't even know this place was here! Oddly enough it's because it just opened a few weeks ago. When I walked in, I was greeted by Jennifer. She was incredibly sweet and showed me around the new lot. I can't tell you how much I liked these storage spaces. They're incredibly clean, they have climate control in each space. AND The Doors have a built in lock. It's great because I don't have to buy a lock and it a lot safer. I've come in a few times just to check in my items and the staff have been very kind. Shawn was amazing and everyone was so helpful! The units were very clean! Two drawbacks... the elevator is too slow and there's only 1. If you hire movers you may have to pay more due to that elevator. The second is they raised my rent twice in a year. Started at about $120 and ended at about 180.. Crazy! I don't advise no one to rent space if you do triple lock it cause they don't have cameras they say on inside & anyone can get a code come in they broke in my unit took everything I had including person stuff & my deceased dad's military stuff! Their rude & unprofessional! After my break in they didn't wanna give me a lock for temporary but meanwhile they called me knowing my unit was broke in they put a lock on it before I arrived they talk to me as if I did something wrong!!! So I just went in here to drop off some stuff at my storage unit. I've had a unit here for over a year. I went in to ask for the key to use the cart to unload some stuff(Christmas decorations). The two ladies told me they couldn't give me a cart because they stop giving carts at 6:30pm. It was 6:35. I had to carry 8 boxes to my unit and I was still out before closing. What the hell. I get it you want to leave on time, but I know you have looked me in the eyes plenty of times. I always return the dang cart. Why did you have to do me like that. It's just poor service. I missed your cart curfew by 5 minutes( I doubt that is company policy). My back hurts. Y'all are some jerks. I'm going to cancel my unit this week. Never missed a payment. I will never rent at a Public Storage location again. I was in a rush and had to rent two large units because I was moving out of state and couldn't take most of our household with us immediately. The Red Hill facility is nice and all but I find Public Storage as a company to be highly unethical in the amount they raise rents in very short order. I fully expect a rental facility to raise rents from time to time but to raise my rent 17% after 6 months and then raise it AGAIN by 17% 6 months after that is totally unacceptable. A 35% increase within 12 months? How is that justifiable? That is simply bad business and corrupt. Yes, I understand that the introductory rates are lower to entice you but my initial rate was not that far off market, maybe 10% under market at most (I shopped around). I will never rent from them again and I rent multiple units every year. read more

Despite a busted pipe that made all the restrooms unavailable (I didn't have to use the restroom, thank goodness), this place was very new (only open for seven weeks from this review), welcoming, and clean. This is my first time ever renting a storage, and I am glad I picked this one! While the original unit I was going to pick was too small and I would have had to get on a ladder to access, the medium was the perfect size and not much more expensive than the small. It stinks you have to pay for a lock (but you get to keep it afterward for any other time you may need another storage) and you are forced to pay insurance (cheapest is $11 a month, which isn't awful), it was cheaper here than some of the other storage places I looked at. The inside with the units had AC which was fantastic, and great for some of the things I needed to store (they could possibly melt if left in the heat). Overall, everyone was nice, it was not a hassle to get a unit, and it was reasonably priced. read more

Wow!!! This is a hugggee public storage! Huge. Was told 3rd biggest in the country. But kept really clean. But could be kinda scary lolol. There are so many units but good thing there electricity. The lights come on when you walk down the aisle. So no darkness but utter quietness. But im a scaredy cat so dont mind me lol. Is very secure. You need an access code to enter the unit where your stuff will be and then an access code to the elevator. Which you are provided at time of paying. I feel good about this location. Gentlemen who helped me was very nice. He also suggested something for 7 dollars u guess that helps with odor and other things due to stuff thats in storage for a long time like clothing sometimes. Besides the fact that im tired from moving all my boxes i still wanted to write a great review! This public storage has won me over. If i ever leave this area and move back this public storage will see me again. As for now my business is here and will be for a while :) read more

This was my first experience with a storage unit and the team here was informative and efficient. Bought extra boxes and Roberto and his team carried them out to my (small two-door) car and helped me load them in, and we're really helpful. As this is a brand new facility, all the units are on the highly-accessible ground floor, bread new and never been utilized before (very clean), and climate controlled. Of the other facilities I visited in the area, this one far outshone the rest and I would highly recommend it for a fast and smooth experience. Please note that you will have to have renters insurance either from an outside company (i.e. AAA), or else you will have to add it on to your monthly storage space fee with Public Storage, for about $11 more a month. read more

This place went downhill fast! It's been our 2nd or 3rd year here, and frankly, I wouldn't recommend anyone else renting here. At the beginning, they advertised low rates, only to raise them 6 months later, and every 6 months after that. It's a pattern; no matter which unit you have, or what they tell you. Our rate have increased 250%+ from 2 years ago. That said, the customer service is horrible, and the new location manager makes this x10 worse. NTM before the new manager, you could always complain to the regional manager if you needed something the location manager couldn't do; however, as of the hire, it doesn't seem the regional manager is getting the call back requests or just doesn't want to call anymore. And wow, the lack of attention towards the customer shows in the details such as number of available carts has gone to pretty much zero, the attitude of the some of the office staff leaves much to be desired, and some of the characters that this place attracts also attracts the Irvine Police Department (whom seem to hang out here more and more often). I've had experience with other storage places, and this isn't the way other storage places operate. Pretty much anywhere else is better than Public Storage. read more

The door closest to my unit is out of service. I was directed to a door which is around the side of the building and not viewable from the street. All of the carts are locked. I walked all the way back up to the office, only to be told that they didn't have any keys to unlock them! Unbelievable. When I got back to the far side of the building, luckily the one unlocked cart was freed up and I managed to get one load out of storage. Unfortunately a moving company was there for another customer and one of the movers was completely drunk (at 11:30 am) and began "helping" me unload the cart. As I mentioned, this particular door is on the far side of the building and it is not visible from the street. I felt very vulnerable and frightened. I shoved everything into my car as fast I could and got outta there. I still have at least one more carload full of items to remove from that facility but I am uncomfortable going back. I'm really upset about it and I really don't know what to do. My advice is to steer clear of this business. read more

I am basing my review solely on ease and use. Personally I think it's annoying that you have to enter your code twice to get to your storage unit. Not only that but our personal storage unit you have to step on the handles to access the unit, just making it more cumbersome. By stepping on the handles I mean that the lock is won't pull out unless you push the unit's door down. Some of the trolleys they offer don't move straight. But I understand putting in the code twice for safety reasons but it's annoying. read more

Do not sign documents until you've measured the units yourself. Measurements on the website do not match the actual measurements. Apparently, once you sign documents, the manager is the only one that can help in resolving any issues. It's been almost a month since I've mentioned my concerns to the employees that work there about the size of my storage unit not matching the measurements that I signed for. I've called the manager twice, and sent an email. I even went to the storage location and just missed the manager, but was assured by an employee that the manager would get my message I left with them and see the notes on my account regarding my concerns. So, that's about 5 separate efforts on my part to speak with the manager of that location, and I have still not heard back a thing from anyone there. read more

This review is specifically for the pre-move in process. I booked a unit online with a move in date a few weeks out. I selected a size and put in all my info, including a credit card. I received an email today (2days after I booked it online) saying that I need to call and confirm the reservation or it would be cancelled. I called and the guy who answered said I needed to come in prior to my move-in date to look at the unit. I asked what for because I travel for work and have limited time. He said, "It's just better to come before so you can see it & make sure it will work." So I asked if people have issues with the sizes, like if they don't understand the size they're getting vs what they need because I'm comfortable with the size as long as it's what's advertised. And he said that's not really a problem, and I just need to come in. I said that I'll try to come after work and he told me they close at 8pm. Not really understanding why I needed to go down, but also not wanting to lose the reservation I went after work and got there at 7:38pm. The girl behind the counter said that she couldn't show me the unit or start the paperwork because I would have needed to arrive 30 mins prior to them closing, which the guy did not tell me over the phone. So basically this was a huge waste of my time and I still don't get why they insisted I come down in the first place. read more

I dropped by today to rent a locker. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Moved out today on 1st Dec. And they charged for the month insurance usd11 and usd0.90 for the one day. My wife and I were looking at storage units and it is like searching for a home/apt. You look for the following: -great location -reasonable monthly rate -no weird or peculiar neighbors (Kramer, maybe, but not Newman) -great staff We got all of that. We love the location, new site with ample amounts for parking and unloading storage. AC/controlled, great security, and easy to navigate. Reasonable monthly rate- definitely check out the website first to find out what size you really need vs. what you think you need. But the rates are fair and lower than some sites closer to our home. FYI, you will need to purchase a lock for $19 and insurance is required, not to mention a one-time admin fee. But, it was all stated up-front, similar to other locations and noted in the agreement. Decent people- no kooky people or weirdos; mainly couples and families wanting to store stuff; the cameras and security are a relief. The staff- wow, Tony is one-of-a-kind!!! We met him at the other location on Jamboree, but he was at this site and was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable. Service goes a long way especially in-person and he was friendly, upfront, and was always looking for our best interests. We compared several locations, and one of the tipping points was his service. Tony explained the agreement to us so we weren't just signing our life away. Thank you Tony!!! Give this Public Storage a try; they've been around less than a year but it's a great location near RedHill/Barranca. read more

I wish there were negative stars. Let me start by saying GO ELSEWHERE!!! The entire staff is completely incompetent rude and have NO knowledge of customer service . Seems every weekend there are new employee . This weekend there's was a CINDI extremely rude And mouthy . I went in said Hi! And immediately she appeared hating her job..her bitter face should have given me a clue . I went in for 3 things which all consisted of me given my unit number . I asked if I could doen Down size and would like once close to my current unit then I proceeded to ask for a key for the flat cart. Well to my surprise the key I was issued wa not in my area . So I call and asked if someone could bring me a key since it was their mistake . She said no you have to come and get the right one . I walk back to the office frustrated and what do I get my ID once again I am looking at her lien are you for real ?? She stares at me like deer in headlights... Not once did she apologize instead she runs her mouth under her breath and I simply said . I had such a good experience with this location. This was my first time using a storage facility ever and it was a great experience, I was nervous and Francis made all the nerves go away. He showed me 2 different units and sizes and I was able to make the decision from there. He was informative and answered all my questions very professionally. I appreciate his knowledge of his job and the facility. I came back for the second time after I moved and Loraine who is the DM, assisted me. I could tell right away she was a manger by her presences on the floor. She is warm, friendly, and greeted everyone who walked in. She was quick and efficient in helping me. Long story short, I had an awful roomate experience and needed to be out ASAP and this Public Storage location was able to accommodate me with less than 12 hours notice and I even got the first month free. Their staff is extremely customer service oriented, upon arriving I was greeted and given a quick, but thorough breakdown of how move-in and everything works at Public Storage. My unit is pretty far from the main office, but they had a golf cart to escort me there when they showed me where my unit was. Recently, I came in on my lunch break to drop off an awesome used table I scored on Offer Up. I had some trouble figuring out the lock and was able to call the front desk and Francis guided me through opening the door over the phone, he also offered to come help in person. Before leaving I went to drop off the key for the dolly and schedule my move out day since I have found a new place. Francis was able to get everything processed and give me move-out day instructions in just a few minutes. If you're looking for a storage unit, I highly recommend this location! read more

I have been at this location for 6 months and feel that the staff and facility deserves a 5 star rating. However their pricing structure needs to be noted. They move you in free ($1) move you in cheap, and offer reasonable monthly rates and no contracts, everything is month to month. However, without a contract, they can and will raise your rates. After 6 months, they raised my rates 18%. When I moved in 2 different employees (Tony & another employee being trained by Lorraine.) reassured me that if Public Storage did raise their monthly fee, it would be about $5. After 6 months when they had raised my rates 18%, I went into the location and asked why my rates went up. They told me that it was customary to check the rates in the area and adjust the monthly rates to coincide with the other storage places. So enjoy you good deal while it last. I feel that I was deceived. Once you have move your items into storage, they are relying on the fact that it is difficult to move out and are using that knowledge to press you with the higher pricing. read more

This is the worst public storage facility I have ever used. I have been here for a few years now and it seems that the management or owners or both are so incompetent of being able to hire and train decent employees that there has not been one employee that has been remotely helpful or respectful. Every time I come here there is a new set of employees that are just as useless as the ones before them. They all forget that we are paying customers and this is just as much of a hospitality job as a server at a restaurant. Let me just give you a run down on what these so called employees do to there customers. Let me start off by saying that this storage facility opens at 8 and closes at 8 except for Saturday and Sunday which it then closes at 7. So if you get off work late and need to rush over there and get there in time to grab something or put something away just be ready for the biggest bitch fest of your life on how they close in 5 mins and then have them standing in your way hovering over all your stuff and looking into your storage while they continue to tell you every minute that passes and that they will be closing soon. Do you think while they are standing there breathing down your neck that they might ask to help a little if they are so much in a hurry to get off work... HELL NO. Not once has any employee ever said it's ok take an extra 5 10 minutes I understand it can be hard to get everything done on time. If your really lucky you also might get an employee that will threaten to call the cops on you if you don't get out when again it's 8:05 and they can't just give you a break just once to get all your stuff inside storage after apologizing and asking for an extra 2 mins. The best part of it all the cops are constantly patrolling the facility and will come up and try to get you in trouble for anything they can come up with when all your doing is using your storage facility that once again YOU pay for. If I could give this storage negative stars I would. I am currently in the process of getting the hell out of there. I also just wanted to say that I'm not much of a complainer as you can tell from my reviews. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt but this facility is so disgusting and terrible I have to warn people to choose anywhere else. You will be glad you did. read more
