I had an absolutely outstanding experience, and I can't say enough good things about Free, the store manager who helped me with my storage unit. From the beginning, he went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. He took the time to check multiple units for me, and after we had agreed on one, we went to see it and realized it was in very poor condition. Instead of simply telling me that was all that was available, he took it upon himself to find a better solution. He spent another 45 minutes walking around the property, on his own, in the Houston heat, personally checking units until he found one that was in good condition and that he felt comfortable offering me. He could have easily stopped after showing me the original unit, but he genuinely cared about making sure I was happy with what I was getting. Throughout the entire process, he was incredibly friendly, patient, professional, and willing to do everything in his power to make things work for me. You don't come across this level of customer service very often anymore. I walked away extremely pleased and grateful for everything he did. He truly went the extra mile and turned what could have been a frustrating experience into an excellent one. Free deserves recognition from management, honestly, give him Employee of the Year! Do NOT use!!!!! The nicest thing about the whole place is the new elevator. So that should say something. Our unit was broken into - but the locks were fine which leads me to believe it could be the staff, who had a set of keys. Also there was significant water damage in the unit. And we were never told. Don't trust "Contactless" check in Not only did the app not work but it took them a week to call me back. I was in the middle of moving and booked online. It was listed as contactless but they didn't inform me of the entry only during office ours. 6336 Fairdale LN in Houston was the worst experience EVER! Not even the district manager has respect for customers. Called customer service over 10 times and never spoke with either on the "Emergency Phone" they have for emergencies. I have been with them exactly 1 month. I was supposed to pay today my next month, but they said I had to make the payment yesterday. So because of that they charge me $20 late fee and $55 lien fee, so they were asking me to pay $16 prorated fee plus $20 plus $55 for being according to them 1 day late. And on top of that February is coming and have to pay that too. They are crazy if they think I am gona stay there. So for you reading this and if you decide to do business with them make sure you know when you are supposed to pay and DONT BE LATE!! THEY WILL CHARGE YOU MORE THAN $70 FOR BEING 1 DAY LATE!!! Public Storage - Office - Self Storage Near Me - Houston, Texas

This location is horrible. Very dirty, holes in the walls, large pothole in the middle of the drive that you cannot go around. People leave their trash from their unit in the driveway or along the side of the building. They are going up on prices (I haven't even been there 4 months). I don't see why they would go up on rates when the property needs so much work and not a nice place to begin with. I have an inside unit and there is always stuff falling from the ceiling onto my things. When the office calls, they can't even speak clearly and can never say my name correctly. read more

Was promised that they would honor the online price and they have not. The past two months I've been paying almost $70 more than I was promised. (including the fees because by the time management returns my calls I have incurred a late fee) While the staff at the actually location seem to try their best and seem fairly pleasant, the District Manager David Spade has very poor communication skills and has not been helpful at all in resolving the issue. i've had my unit close to six years. i paid initially $73 then it goes up another $20 every year after that so beware of that. i had the outside units which obviously you don't want to store items that could ruin from the heat. Unfortunately you have to worry about your items inside getting dirty from the ceiling material falling apart.I don't know what it is exactly but wonder if this stuff is a health hazard. In one the flooding events although it didn't flood on the grounds there was moisture that channeled through the unit which damaged some of the items i had (nothing of value thankfully). I had to move in in the dark. I have a small unit and using my Iphone's flashlight wasn't ideal. My unit doesn't have a working light bulb- I was told that the socket needed to be replaced and was asked to leave my spare key so that they could have it fixed. Fast forward 3 months and I still don't have a working light bulb. My initial customer service encounter was great, the ladies were cordial and kind, too bad the product and current service doesn't meet the same standard. When I went to request my spare key, the lady simply grabbed it from the drawer it had been sitting in for the last 3 months, handed it to me and said, "thank you." I guess she knows the light will never get fixed anyway. Disappointed read more

DO NOT USE!!!!!!!!Terrible storage facility and staff is never around. When I moved in the storage unit it was completely dark, the light did not work, the ceiling was peeling away, it smelled horrible of mold, the walls and ceilings were sweating, the floor had water damage, and no employee was onsite to open the storage hallway to my unit. I had to call the 1-800 customer service number to get help with access. I asked to be moved to another property in better condition as I was sure my property would be damaged. I was given an option across town but I had to move the next day. Of course I could not take another day off work in such a short notice. I have tried for an entire week calling all day and leaving voicemails for the property manager to get back to me and have yet to hear from anyone. Within a week, I moved to another company's storage unit (much better condition and service) and pay another moving company. I have spent at total of $1,000 in movers in a week. Ridiculous waste of money!! I am deeply disappointed in the service at public storage and DO NOT recommend the facility nor the service. Still waiting for them to call me back. I have had a storage space here for 8 years, yesterday I discovered one whole wall covered with black mold and water. The front desk say they are not responsible!!? WHAT?! Bait and Switch! I was told it would be "a long time" before they would attempt to raise my rates after signing up last summer. Instead it's been 4 months and they raised the rates about 25%! Please do yourself a favor do not rent from here! The units are super old. Getting climate control does not mean anything, the units all feel super hot. They provide you with dirty units, I had to sweep it out myself. I saw a cockroach in the climate control area. Bring your own lock, you cannot access the unit until there is a lock. They charge $20 for theirs, although on the bright side it is a sturdy lock. If I could give a separate rating for CiCi who helped with the check in process, I would give her a 5 star rating. The reason for the low rating is because of the process of getting the rates prior to booking this storage unit. Called different facilities in the area directly to obtain the rates for the units. Was given a rate and when asked if there are any specials or discounts if advanced payment was made for a year, the answer was no. The person then asked for phone number and email address and what date the unit was needed. Then soon after that, an email was received about a confirmed reservation. A reservation that wasn't even requested. Then decided to check online for rates and it was 30% cheaper than what was quoted. It's understand that it's an online only special, but why couldn't the person from public storage mention the online special when asked about specials and discounts? Anyway, ended up booking a unit online and got all checked in. Started moving some things in and some measurements didn't seem right. Decided to measure the unit and it's actually about 4" short in width and 1' 2" less in length than the stated dimension of the unit. 4" is acceptable, but 14"? That's a significant discrepancy. read more

Rude, rude, rude. I'm moving to Houston so I had to make a reservation online. I had a question about it so I called in. The woman that I spoke to seemed like I was inconveniencing her for even asking questions. I let that go. I was in Houston for a few days and tried to go by to sign the paperwork the one afternoon I could get away from work early enough. I got to the place 1 minute after they closed and the woman inside wouldn't even acknowledge that I was there. She just said "read the sign we're closed!" She was so rude and so was the other woman that I spoke to that I will definitely not be storing my stuff here! Go find any one of the other 100 storage facilities in the area. I guarantee they will treat you better than the folks at this place! read more

If I could rate 0 stars OR LESS, I would. This location has absolutely terrible customer service. I was promised the rate shown displayed online and not only did they charge me 10% more the first month, they also increased the cost of the storage room $6 more a few months later. I do not live in town so when calling to speak to the person in charge it took me LITERALLY 10 attempts to reach them. The phone number given sends me to voicemail immediately and the recording says to leave a message to be reached out to (WASTE OF TIME, NEVER GOT A CALL BACK). When I finally did get a hold of someone, this person (female) did not know a thing about my concerns, nor did she even attempt to help. All she said was "I don't know, call customer service" with no regard at all. But that is not all that there is to despise about this place. The conditions of the storage rooms are alarming to say the LEAST. MOLD, DENTED DOORS and walls, BROKEN FIRE ALARMS, ASBESTOS FOR CERTAIN. I am not even sure how this place is still running. Also, the entrance doors to the storage units are open most of the time even though when signing to use their facilities they promise you they go around making sure they're all locked.
