This company moved me over 1 1/2 years ago (August 31, 2022) and I am still having nightmares about…read morethe move. They cancelled on the first day. Showed up at 5:00 p.m. instead of 8:00 a.m. on the second day. They tried to cancel again but I had to move out because it was the 31st of the month. They DID NOT know how to pack a truck. They kept removing items and looking confused about how to pack the truck. When I gave them suggestions, it seemed to irritate them. They packed so poorly that we had to make two trips to the storage unit to drop off my items. On the last trip, which was about midnight, one of the movers just started throwing my boxes to the back of the storage with no regard to what was in the boxes. The reason they threw the boxes to the back of the storage (which was totally unacceptable) was because they blocked the entry into the storage unit with large pieces of furniture instead of leaving a pathway. Once again proving that they did not have experience with packing a truck or a unit. It was late and I was a female alone at a storage facility so I was afraid to say too much because I did not want them to retaliate. I called the office the next day to complain and was told that if I move again within 90 days and use them, they would reimburse me for any damaged items. I never got an apology or a refund for the overage in time since they did not know what they were doing. I know I paid for an extra 4 hours that should not have been clocked if they got to my house on time (8 am) and wasn't tired because they decided to make me their second move that day and moved someone else first. They promised that I would be first since they cancelled on the original day (30th), but instead they showed up at 5:00 p.m. I am about to move again, and I dread the idea of trying to find another moving company. But what I dread even more so is opening up my boxes and finding 90% of my precious glass items broken. It will be painful because some of these items are irreplaceable. I have moved approximately 8-10 times in my lifetime, and I have NEVER experienced this level of inadequacy. This was by far THE MOVE LITERALLY FROM HELL!!!!!! If I could give a NEGATIVE 10 REVIEW, I would! When Murray Moving Co shows up on your caller ID, BLOCK them Quick!!!! Lisa - Houston, Texas

AND They did same day delivery + unpacking (furniture)!!! Can you believe??? I had two bedroom apartment and approx. 40 -50 boxes. I did all the packing in advance because my preference was to have my items well segregated and organized as per my choice. These guys were quick, professional and friendly. I highly recommend them just because they are very transparent and deserves good business! Thanks Kasey

Here they are covering their butts. Your employee, SHOWED…read moreUP to the site complaining of his back. I ASKED if they had blankets to cover my things, they verbally TOLD me NO. If they did, how did my things get scratched? I GAVE THEM COOKIES!!! Do NOT act like I am cruel just because I am speaking truth. No one talked to my"roommate" for her opinion. She agreed with EVERYTHING I said, but is too timid to say it. Also, THE OWNER of the house was pissed and said if he had known we were trying to go cheap, he would have pitched in to get us better movers.(get what you pay for) I was only worried about time because one person wasn't using the time to do their job. Also, if HE is the one that stuck the wrong size drawer in the wrong size slot,.... Then isn't it you guys who broke it? There was NOT another way to get it out!!! He SHOVED it in so far the wrong way that it was stuck and HAD TO BE PULLED! Also, no one ever called, or tried to make it right. If you have to try and pull on someone's heart strings to "get your way" in business.... You're failing as a business. Do you tip your construction workers?? And "feel sorry for them" when they mess up a road? I'm pretty sure their job is harder than this and they get less credit. Like I said, I PAID FULL PRICE, so he GOT paid to feed his hungry starving children of America, their daily happy meal from McDonalds. If you want REAL PROFESSIONAL MOVERS, hire HEART OF TEXAS MOVING AND STORAGE!!!!! THEY are the bomb.com!! They moved my things, (the same apartment that these guys moved) from a third story to a third story IN LESS THAN AN HOUR!!! If I had an oversized box, they used plastic wrap to wrap it TO THE DOLLY, SO IT WOULDN'T FALL OFF........ Hhhhmmmmm man, that just sounds a little too smart.... Using tools to make things easier?? Who would have known??

I've spoken to and/or received quotes from approximately 2 dozen moving companies over the last few…read moreweeks. "Long Dist. Movers" is, by far, the most arrogant, asinine, childishly silly, and mathematically challenged moving company I've ever encountered ... in my life. They seriously imagine we're supposed to submit to them a detailed list of the items being moved and apparently they think they can "calculate" what they want to use (i.e., what they want to charge you), not what you actually need. If you've moved before and added/subtracted certain types of items (e.g., appliances, larger or smaller sofa, gaming computer), then you pretty much know how much more/less truck space you'll need as compared to the last move. Worse, their expectation is that you'll be perfectly okay with them separating all your possessions ... that you'll NEED in your new home ... and storing them behind their fence somewhere and you'll just sit in your empty house without the ability to start organizing, cooking, cleaning, etc. It's utterly insane that anyone thinks that's a reasonable methodology. Every other moving company I called bases the move off the truck(s) that will be needed, yet this one somehow escaped from la-la land and bases the move off an "item count", lol. When I clarified that, YES, you can know what you need based off prior moves, the guy said "Oh, it doesn't work that way". No, sweetie ... YOU won't be working that way, not today, and not with me.

I had a great experience with Long Distance Movers. I found LDM via its good Yelp reviews, and…read moredecided to give them a call for my move from Massachusetts to Texas. Their pricing is fairly straightforward, you provide inventory and they give you a price that's locked-in and does not change (as long as your inventory list and your move logistics are accurate), and then a day before your booked move date they give you a call and tell you a time window when they'll come. The movers themselves seem subcontracted in a way, but in any case they were professional, careful, friendly, and quick. Your goods are placed on a truck, taken to a facility, and moved to another truck for long-haul moves (consolidating shipping with other goods). They are transparent about this. If you have any goods that need to be crated (e.g., I had a 77" TV), they will wrap it in blankets at the scene and crate it at the intermediate facility prior to loading onto the 18-wheeler. I had a small hiccup during the pickup where my move was reclassifed as a "long carry" due to the distance between front door and truck. However, I completely agreed with this reassessment. It was a *long walk* to the truck. The additional fee was hefty, but fair ($600, based on the number of steps required over ~150 I believe). They provide a 14 business day delivery window, and within that window you should remain available the entire time. You can set your first available date up to ~30 days in the future (in case you don't immediately go to your destination, or have other commitments in between). However, once the goods are on the truck you get regular, daily updates on the location of the shipment via text and you can respond to the text with any questions you might have. In my case, I set my delivery date 2 weeks in the future because I had a vacation between. However, the truck was quickly approaching Texas, and I was able to coordinate a delivery much earlier than I expected. Great stuff, LDM! On delivery, the movers were obviously out of a different office in Texas. They were friendly, quick, and professional. They placed my items by majority all on the 2nd story of the destination house; they also reassembled all furniture they disassembled for the move (this is included in the price). Overall, I would recommend LDM to others. I had a great experience, timely move, good communication. The only suggestions I would have--for LDM-- would be a transparent breakdown of how your move price is calculated. All they provide is a final price, and you can work with your sales representative to figure out how to cost-optimize, but you don't get a detailed breakdown of how the price is calculated at any point (e.g., how much is for distance, vs. movers, vs. per-item, etc.).
