This place is a joke! I'm sharing my experience to warn others about significant problems at this facility: Safety Concerns: During my tenancy, I was trapped in a malfunctioning elevator along with other tenants. We had to call police and fire departments for assistance. This created dangerous conditions and prevented access to our belongings. Discriminatory Treatment: I experienced what I believe was racial profiling and discrimination during my time as a customer. Despite having paid my bill in full, I was illegally locked out of my unit on two separate occasions. This occurred while I was preparing to move internationally, causing me to nearly miss my flight and preventing me from seeing a dying family member--one of the most painful experiences of my life. Poor Customer Service: When online payment systems weren't working, I was instructed to come in person to pay Staff was confrontational and accused me of saying things I never said When I respectfully corrected the misinformation, I was locked out of my paid unit in retaliation Despite documented attempts to reach managers David and Brian over the course of a year, I never received callbacks Staff claimed to have "hundreds of notes" on my case but never followed up Financial Practices: Rent increases occur with unusual frequency--every other month--which is excessive compared to industry standards. The facility is overpriced for the quality of service and treatment provided. Final Thoughts: This company prioritizes revenue over customer safety, dignity, and basic service standards. I strongly advise potential customers, particularly people of color, to seek alternative storage options. After these experiences, I will never trust another storage company with my belongings and would sooner invest in private storage solutions. I rented a storage yestererday. I came many times and nobody helped me. I came again the next day. They said our unit was broken, so the would fix it that morning. We came again in the afternoon, and under my strong requirements to solve the problem, she change the unit , when I be here , I found she change my first floor unit to the second one! I cannot climb the stairs, that is so bad and she didnot tell me she change the unit to the second floor, I came here with my things the car full of so many time, untill now still cannot solve the problem and give me the unit I need . I call the people who change the unit, but no body answer, I really really feel so bad to the people, she is not help, please find someone who can help me. read more

I would be ashamed if I was the CEO of Public Storage. Something told me after reading some of these reviews I should just look for something else. I didn't and now regret it. It's hard to believe a company with such a huge reputation as this has failed so many people. I recently reserved a unit in Houston Texas. Everything was fine and the website was actually easy. Once I was done I guess I forgot to pay or something and got a call from the manager or rep from the location asking why didn't I pay for my reservation. I thought that was odd but assured her I will take care of it asap. After paying I received and email with all my unit information. I also downloaded the app and was ready to get moved in. The next morning I rented a UHaul (Why I didn't just get a space from them is beyond me). After loading the truck I headed to the address provided on the app and email. THIS ADDRESS IS NOT what is provided. It goes to an apartment complex. I drove around for almost 45 mins trying to find it and call with no answer. I finally drove into the apartment complex to ask if public storage happened to be in the back or something. She was nice but laughed and said no and that's odd. I showed her the address and she said it's possible it's around the block. I drove around the block and down the street and there it was so I was relived and a little less upset because I finally found it. I proceeded to unlock the gate from the app and got a message saying my code is no longer valid. I tried the key pad and got the same message. I called several times with no answer and kept getting voicemail. I waited and waited with a truck full with no avail. Not one person showed up or has even contacted me since asking me why I haven't paid. I emeditaly called U Haul and asked to if they had anything available and while on the phone the agent did everything right and got me set up within 10 minutes. The employee's and managers are negligent in all kinds of ways. Public storage is excellent on making sure you pay on time but if you unit gets broken into, over and a new locks that are not your are now on the unit they don't care to notify you during the nightly lock checks and the employee at the desk all of a sudden goes from manager to oh I just started here a month a go. Let me begin with a story. I went to my storage unit on a whim just to check on it. I sold my 3 bedroom home and rented a 1 bedroom so i had 2 bedrooms worth of furniture and appliances in the biggest unit they offer a/c. I have 2 doors to my storage unit. The first door is fine with my cylinder lock i purchased from public storage since this is what they "required" all good there. I go to my 2nd door and there is now a round lock placed on it with a public storage sticker on it. This isn't mine! I go to the desk and let them know and see if they have a key for it since I assumed this was theirs. We walked to my storage unit and she confirmed no this is not Public Storage lock. OK, well this is not mine and I would like to put in a request to have this taken off. This was in May just to clarify. She told me the district manager was going to be there tomorrow to cut the lock and they would call me. Well no call, no lock removed. Only a phone call in June wanting more money from me. I paid and did the right thing. I assumed they cut the lock and put one of theirs on as a trusted business. I went to the storage unit August to check on things. Now the first round lock that was not mine is gone and there is a new masterlock padlock on it. This isn't mine! I go up to the front desk and ask for a manager, the girl says i am. Ok great! This is the 2nd time a lock has been put on my unit that is not mine. Now I have hired movers to get this cleared out... Come to find out headboards, nightstands, mattresses, appliances are all stolen. I confirmed with the employee that Public Storage does a nightly lock check and if any locks are different they notify the tenant. Well this has happened twice and public storage has ok'd these locks and not notified me of the lock change. The employee said she was going to look into this today and have the district manager call me right away that she had only been there a month. Well no call, no emails just more notifications of payments. Just to test their system and their negligence I decided I was going to put my own round lock on the door and see if they notify me. What do you think.. of course not! Public storage has a huge problem on their hand and are completely negligent and let me remind you both the new locks have public storage stickers on them that they have been ok'd by the employee during the night check. I just want to reiterate that Public Storage told me point blank they do a nightly lock check and if one is different they notify the tenant. This has slipped three times now. read more

This place is poorly run and refuses to stop billing my card. There is no method of confirming cancelation, and the unit manager will refuse to "inspect your unit" and "forget" to discontinue your rental. 1st attempt: I canceled IN PERSON at the end of April. Of course, they only have a self-service kiosk. The person on the other end of the phone (kiosk) assured me that my unit rental was discontinued. I followed the instructions to a T. I also paid my last payment of 97 dollars. 2nd attempt: A few days later my card was billed again. This time I called. They assured me my unit rental was discontinued. 3rd attempt: A month later I received an e-mail saying that my next payment was due and that my card would be auto-billed. I had already turned off auto-billing. I then called again. I was told that the unit was still active and that I would have to call the DISTRICT MANAGER to discontinue my rental. The customer service guy said that he could not discontinue cancel or correct their mistake. So far the only way I have been able to rectify the situation is by disputing the charges with my credit card company. read more

Eventually getting over to lock up my unit,I was trying to use my pass code on the wrong door and called the manager, Who ca over immediately just as I figure it out my mistake. Absolutely terrible. I never leave reviews but this place holds a special place in my heart for how bad they are. Showed up on move-in day with a good price 1st floor unit. Apparently the unit i reserved (with email proof) never even existed and when i needed someone to help, not a single person answered the phone at the help desk. Got shoved into a more expensive 2nd floor unit due to a lack of options. They raised the price on the unit a month later which is in the lease but still a 15% increase is lame for how crappy it already is. To cap it off, they're kicking me out of my unit now because of renovations. Again I dont leave reviews, but this place sucks so bad it was worthy of warding others away. read more

I used this location for the last year for a lot of my stuff. It was beyond easy to move in and out, never had any problems, and everyone I interacted with at this location was nice and professional. It was so easy to schedule move out online and auto pay was super easy as well. They are willing to work with you on whatever you need help with! They even helped me avoid some fees by calling me and talking me through what steps need to be taken to avoid them. Awesome place! read more

Wow, what an experience to have at a storage facility! I've rented storage units several times over the year and I have never ran in to an employee as vibrant and helpful as Ariel. She was professional, efficient, and extremely thorough. She walked me through the insurance inventory list, helping me recall all the items I had planned on having in the unit in case anything was ever to happen. This was extremely helpful for me to put into prospective how much stuff i actually had to store. I ended up with a 8x10 unit and everything fit perfectly! Because of this experience i was able to easily overlook the fact that I had to use stairs(!), to move my items in the unit. I would like to say i would want them to install an elevator in place of the stair, but i know the difference would show up in the storage rental rate. Rented a unit here to store some extra furniture that I didn't feel safe storing in my garage/attic due to heat/humidity concerns. When I went to retrieve a dresser from the unit, I found that it had extensive water damage and the unit smelled of mold - it appeared as if water had dripped down from the overlying AC duct. When showed a photo of the damage, the manager replied "oh good, you have a photo for your insurance company", without any concern or indication that she would have the problem fixed (I had actually purchased the Public Storage insurance, but in the fine print it does not cover water/mold damage). Terminated rental of the unit right then and there, and no, they do not prorate the monthly charge. read more

He was happy to walk me through the property, explained all the great upgrades coming, and was honest about the pros and cons. You can usually find better deals ONLINE, so be sure to check that first, and insurance IS EXTRA NOT INDICATED ON THE GENERAL PRICE, and they start at an additional $11.00 & up. There are reviews that indicate the ROOF LEAKS in some of the buildings at this location, so you may want to have the insurance, or cover the top portion of your stuff with plastic, stick valuables in the middle, and plastic containers at the bottom, if water pools up. I had water damage to my PS on S. Gessner, but thankfully, it wasn't too bad. Great area to be renting storage in because the neighborhood is great! read more

My move-in experience with this facility was fabulous. It started when I went in to fill out the paperwork. I was greeted in a warm and friendly manner, and despite the troubling predicament I was in, not knowing how much stuff would be coming or even exactly when it would be coming, Cynthia was able to put me totally at ease. On moving day she met the movers, showed them the units and had things worked out before I could even get there (they showed up before the store was open!). That was just the beginning of the day. When I last left the facility at 3:30 my stuff was all safely in one, affordable unit with a little room to spare and my junk was gone. Now, 3 ibuprofen and 2 Margaritas later, I know Cynthia saved the day. read more
