Of course when I first heard about this place, I was intrigued. It's called Psychic Pie for god's sake. (FYI, I'm super woo :)) Then, my sister-in-law raved about it, declaring it the best pizza she's ever had. (Or something incredibly declarative like that.) We decided to give it a try. Upon walking in, Fugazi was playing in the shop. That was a good sign. When do you ever hear Fugazi playing at an establishment nowadays, the last time was probably in a record shop in the 90s. The pizzas are displayed, and you choose how much of each pizza you'd like and they will cut some off for you and it is priced by weight. Then, they heat it up for you to melt the cheese, and viola! Served with cloth napkins, pizza scissors, if desired when eating-in. (Truly the most brilliant way to cut pizza!) Immediately, I saw "OG Potato" and that was a must have. It was something like Potato, ricotta, chile oil, mozzarella, dill. (Just to cut to the chase on this one, it was incredible! I am obsessed with ricotta, and there was something about all the combination of flavors especially the dill that gave some freshness amongst the rich taste of everything else.) Others we got were the pepperoni, a 4 cheese, and a vegan one with no cheese, just tomato sauce, roasted garlic, olives (there may have been other stuff on it, but that's what I remember) Everything was incredible, even the vegan one. The tomato sauce was so high quality, and I was glad there wasn't any vegan cheese on it. Just veggie tastiness in its purest form. The sourdough crust was light and fluffy. It was all just so high quality, and you can feel the passion for their food. Oh yeah, I almost forgot a big star: the Kale Caesar. Don't sleep on that one. It's one of the best salads we've had in years. It was flavorful, with bits of sunflower seeds to give it crunch. Dressing was on-point with a mountain of fluffy parm on top. And so here's the thing with the current state of eating establishments. There is so much expensive mediocre food out there. Nowadays, you may pay $12 for a salad that's out of a bag with wilted ends and sorry baby carrots. And so, considering there's a place that's putting beautifully intentional food out there, I'd rather choose to go to the place that is high quality and cares about their food and sustainability. We topped off our experience with soft serve and a cookie. The soft serve was amazing. We got it 'eat-in' and it was high quality soft-serve in a whimsical cup and presidential spoons. (Love the sustainability angle, but also the whimsy) You can get it with olive oil and sea salt and other toppings, but I went pure. It was milky and homey, and just gooood. (My hubs wanted the cookie) Not to mention, service was genuine. There was a slow, no-rush vibe to this place that might piss some people off. But given its name, I feel like it's apt. It's Psychic Pie for god's sake, and the ethereal does not rush. In the ethereal, time doesn't exist!!! (lol) You can feel that every part of this establishment is in the vision of its owner, wanting the experience to be a part of their authenticity and values. And we need more of that in this world right now. (And I don't mean some skewed sense of 'authenticity' as in just saying whatever comes to mind and is 'in your face' that has infiltrated our society today) This is true authenticity I'm talking about - an expression of your own Light essence. (See, I told you I'm woo) Speaking of which, the music continued to be my jam at my time here... likely to be a Pixies radio mix, with awesome 90s punk / indie. Some songs I hadn't heard in decades but love. So, it was like entering into someone's establishment that's part of my soul tribe. Great pizza, love the idea of pizza by weight. Although I miss pointing to the big/best slice and saying "can I get that slice" however the pizza here is top tier. I live the light airy crumb. Great quality toppings. Customer service is really friendly. And the interior is cozy. I think the one tiny issue I had that made this a 4 star instead of 5 was that I asked if I could have my slices heated "extra crispy" the reason being that on previous visits we noticed that the slices with more topping were still cold in the middle. When I asked for them to be extra crispy I was assured the pizza would be crispy. And again the pizza with the sausage was a bit cold in the center. read more

Psychic Pie is a very unique place. The name may confuse some people, but once you get to know this place you will keep coming back. It is really the only place of its kind, at least in the North Bay. They make pizza Roman style, where they bake pizzas in a long, rectangular shape. Then, you get to determine how big of a piece you want. They cut it to your liking (in Italy this is called Al Taglio)and then you pay for it by the weight. They always have several options. The other thing that makes the pizza here so special is their use of sourdough crust. I love the texture and flavor that the crust gives to every pizza here. The service is always really good and very helpful. Once you pick your pizzas they will heat up your slices and then dress it up with extra toppings such as herbs, grated cheeses, oils, etc. One of the owners is typically working and they are such lovely people. On this particular visit, my wife and I ordered five different pizzas to try. One of my favorites is the OG Potato, which is covered in thin sliced, crispy potato, ricotta, mozzarella, creme fraiche, dill and chives. It is so rich and creamy. My new favorite is a pizza with blue cheese, walnuts, and caramelized onions that knocked my socks off. Unfortunately, I didn't get the name of that one. There was another new one to me which was the Hot coppa Striacatella. I don't know if I've ever seen charred chicory on a pizza before but it worked really well with the spicy coppa. I also tried the vegan slice which was really good and the Funguy, which is subtle but still tasty. I highly recommend you come try Psychic Pie if you've never been here. The service was fantastic as he asked us if it was our first time and explained how they price their square pizza by the pound (lb). They have four staples and four seasonal pizzas. We ended up trying the PepPep, Funguy, OG Potato, and Coppa. All were tasty and delicious. After picking out the pizza they're weighed and then thrown into the oven for a crispy finish. Everyone should agree you should never leave a restaurant hungry, well I just did... and it honestly shouldn't happen at a place that charges as much as Physchic Pie does. The pricing is outrageous for what you actually get. The employees kept insisting the pizza was "very filling," which led me to order less than I normally would. Big mistake. The slice I got was nowhere near enough, and I walked out still hungry after spending what could've paid for a full meal somewhere else. To be fair, the pizza itself actually tasted pretty good, and the employees were nice and friendly while we were there. The issue isn't the flavor or the attitude it's that the portions and pricing just don't match up at all. To make things worse, the service still had some problems. My mom ordered a salad, and they didn't bother to tell us they were out of it until after they had already put our pizzas in the oven. I'm trying so hard to nix the craving that no other pizza or even my favorite Caramel Crunch Starbucks frap helps. Finally, I wake on Wednesday morning, rearranging my appointments to get off work as early as possible to zip over to psychic pie. Oh, glorious day, get the slices by the pound to go HOT. Your oven unless you have access to a commercial 1 million-degree Kelvin iron slave pizza stove that takes up half your wall at home, you must have them heat it. It makes that chewy, moist inside crackling, ideally outside crisp crust-like perfection. Oh heaven, the caramelized leak, Funguy, and 4 Cheese are my favorite ode to my vegetarian days, to be sure. Still, the shaved parmesan and lemon zest give the pizzas the Pièce de résistance and umami to tip the scale from delicious to addictive. And not the slap-you-in-the-face addiction. The kind that creeps up on you in the middle of the night that sometimes leaves Oreo crumbs and your favorite mug with milk by your bed but didn't quite satiate you, so you're like, oooh, any of that fermented sourdough pizza left downstairs? On that note, the men are more partial to the classic sausage or pepperoni, but I've also tried wilder combinations or cultivations like with beets or broccoli. I do dare say! At any rate, you just 1. Love, and I mean absolutely have to LOVE, sourdough. Otherwise, don't bother. The nuances of this stellar product should be left to those more admiring and deserving. 2. And I hope you can manage this, as I have yet to... Bring someone you LOVE to share your ohs and ahs with; trust me, it's another place where these satisfying moaning sounds make things [insert sense here] better. Mmmmhmmm. And won't break the bank. 10 to 25 dollars for 1 or 2 good sliced portions (men may need 1.5, but women are usually good with 1). Gourmet. Aug 2023 Cool little spot. Always fun to check out new pizza places. The place looks really clean on the inside and the guy at the front was really helpful with any questions I had. I took the order to go and they have a little sign posted at the place for cooking instructions for the pie. I had gotten the Fun Guy, Shishito Zucchini, Coppa and Beets, and the Pistachio and Basil Pesto. Everything had good flavors heated up. I liked the chewiness of the dough that they used. The one that stood out among the 4 was the shishito zucchini. It had a good light savory and freshness to it that lent well to a nice balance in each bite. The fun guy had a nice amount of toppings to it with various mushrooms. The Coppa and beets had a good sweet savory between the ingredients. The pistachio and basil pesto missed for me since the sauce wasn't too strong and I wanted more richness from the pesto itself. This is a cute little pizza place, obviously a favourite with the locals for take and bake. We were up visiting my daughter and she recommended them for a bite to eat. It was a Sunday morning and we were heading back home so we ordered a couple of their brunchy, breakfast slices - one sausage and gravy, the other a croque monsieur - with an egg on top of each. Their crust is made with a sourdough starter so it has a wonderful texture and excellent flavour. I don't usually eat the crust but theirs is exceptionally delicious. It was a nice morning so we sat outside where they have three or four tables to dine al fresco under an umbrella. Stopped by on a rainy Saturday afternoon looking for some interesting pizza topping combinations. We were not disappointed! They sell pizza by the pound as well as some baked goods and salads. Our group ordered a variety of slices. Service was quick and friendly. Our favorite was the Greenzo (broccoli, braised beet tops, and cheddar). The crust reminded me more of a flatbread compared to a more traditional pizza. We also appreciated that we were provided with a special pair of scissors for cutting the slices into smaller pieces to share. I love their pizza! The sourdough crust is amazing and definitely helps them stand out. They use a lot of local ingredients and always have seasonal toppings. They cut square pizzas with scissors to the size you like, and charge you by weight of the slice. I've never seen this done at a pizza place. I understand why they do it, however a slice of cheese for 1 person costs around 12$. Which is a lot for most people. The space is small but has seating for 15 or so. This is supposed to be Roman-style pizza, cooked thin-crust in long rectangular pans from which, if you're buying by the slice, the servers cut a cross-slice to your specification of size, with the minimum being three fingers thick. (I say "supposed to be" because when I was in Rome I never had pizza made like this. But that was 20-odd years ago; who knows how things have changed?) Anyway, the serving guy said a typical order was two three-finger pieces. That sounded good to me, so I ordered that much from the pepperoni and the sausage (with pickled onions and jalapenos) from the half dozen varieties on display.
