Holy smokin Cozy Plum. How come we've never before? My first experience here today blew my mind. As I am just closing my first year of being vegan, I've stopped eating out. So finding Cozy Plum hit home for me. It was the Google and Yelp photos that roped me in. Those nachos were a must try. They were very busy today but don't let that discourage you. 10/10! I'm SO glad I went here! I am in Bodega Bay and was looking for something vegan. I had originally found a different cafe a little closer with vegan options, but the hours on Yelp were wrong and they were closed. I figured I'd drive a little farther to try this place out. The stars had aligned for me!!! I wanted to try everything in the menu. I ended up getting the stuffed jalapeños with rice and beans, and the taco salad. They were both delicious!!! Well worth the drive, and the price! The girl at the counter was really nice (I went Sunday around 4pm). The cafe is a little small and narrow, I had brought my baby with her stroller and it was kinda a tight fit, but we made it work! They also have seating outside. We tried again more recently and the only thing we were kind of bummed by is they started serving non vegan options after being solely vegan for years. That is disappointing in itself, however I understand they are trying to make enough profits to stay open, I just wish they didn't charge a $2 to make things vegan. The counter service is extremely slow, the food is subpar at best, and the prices are outrageous given the low quality. I used to love this restaurant in Santa Rosa, but everything got noticeably worse at their awful Sebastopol location. I still gave it multiple tries, even after getting food poisoning from their taco salad, but no more. Cozy Plum decided to sell out their vegan customers that put up with all their endless growing pains, and switch it into a vegetarian restaurant. I will never eat here again. To the owner who says this is just "purity politics," to people who no longer want to eat here after changing to vegetarian, let me break it down for your narrow, judgmental mind why this isn't the case. 1.) I do not want to second guess which ingredients made it into my meal. Mistakes happen. There is a huge difference between forgetting onions on my order and putting cheese instead of vegan cheese. the last time I ordered from you guys, you completely forgot to make the nachos that were on the receipt. It was a door dash order and when I called to see if you had the item and it didn't get picked up, I was told it wasn't made at all, despite being right there on my receipt. So if you can't even be trusted to make an item on the order, how can I trust cheese won't mistakenly get put on my vegan item? I ordered from you guys on July 4th (supposedly when the change happened) and I was not paying attention to any "vegan" labels since I knew you to be an all vegan restaurant. Now I have to wonder if I had vegan cheese or real cheese, so thanks for that. 2.) If you think you're going to expand your customer base with this change, you are mistaken. I don't know a single vegetarian who refuses to eat at a vegan restaurant because there isn't real cheese. You will, however, lose vegans who don't want to gamble on an order mistake or don't want to support a business that is increasing demand of dairy. The only people I know who refuse to eat at a vegan restaurant are meat-eaters. So unless you start serving burgers, good luck on gaining new customers you didn't already have. 3.) Maybe this is purity politics to you, but vegans are paying $18-$20+ dollars for a meal at your restaurant- a restaurant we could be sure wasn't supporting anything we were against. The price is the same high cost (but cheaper for vegetarians!!! lucky them!!!) just for you to increase demand of dairy that you currently weren't demanding. Not only is the price still high, but I notice the portions getting smaller, which again I would understand from a business perspective if you were not being so dismissive of your vegan customer base in other ways. So we are paying high amounts now to support a business that has added to that demand of dairy. You are literally punishing your existing loyal customer base (and criticizing them when they get upset!) 4.) I was bummed about the change and knew I'd order less from you guys, but I figured I'd still order occasionally, because I do understand the impossibility of having a vegan only restaurant survive in Sonoma County. But your ignorant replies on yelp are why I will no longer be supporting you. It's pretty good. We got the quinoa bowl, the burger, and the wings. I wasn't a huge fan of the bowl, it was a bit bland and boring. The burger was good, but nothing super special. The wings I liked, the sauce was great and the ranch was good as well. The inside of the place is terrible. Cold and concrete. For a place with cozy in the name, it's weird that it's actually the exact opposite. We sat outside, but there's barely any seats out there and multiple groups couldn't sit outside at the same time. The green chile cashew bowl is to delicious! And pretty filling! Literally one of the absolute best dishes I have ever experienced in the vegan gluten free world! The people were kind and polite. This used to be slice of life and that was excellent too. I really miss that place and vibe. This is definitely different. It took me a while to actually try this restaurant since the change and it was worth it. I may try it again for the avocado bowl. The ambiance was tranquil and chill, definitely casual, wear anything you like. The painting of poppies on the wall is lovely. Reading the menu was fun! I wasn't sure what to choose. I was recommended the green chile cashew and I couldn't have been happier. It was so fresh, the portion was satisfyingly large. I also got really lucky to find out it has a star by the menu item and that means it's happy hour starting at 3pm, the price went down! Happy hour for health! Now that is where it's at! They did fail to mention that this is dine in only and when I chose it and did not review a discount, I decided to deduct a star. It doesn't say anywhere it needs to be dine in and advertising this seems a little deceptive without mentioning it. If you are vegan you will love this and if you aren't vegan you might just love this. I might try it again... My belly feels cozy after that deliciousness! It is a little bit pricey with the options we have in Sebastopol for the same pricing. I guess unless you were to do happy hour and dined in and also only ordered a meal that was a star and nothing else it would be more affordable. Standout burgers that're incredibly flavorful! I haven't had a better vegan burger anywhere else. The nachos with chorizo are also delicious and very filling. The bowl I had was okay. Service is relatively prompt and the place is always clean. Parking in the lot out front is usually pretty easy to come by too. The patio seating is right up on the parking lot, so I found it better to sit indoors. Seating inside isn't the most comfortable, but it's okay. Only downside is how outrageously expensive everything is. I would visit much more frequently if there were deals or specials to help offset the prices. When I pointed this out they said that they just haven't changed the menu yet. Seems like you might point that out when ordering. So the "Burger consisted of some onions and a little cheese between an inside out bun. The cut side of the bun was on the outside and the rounded slick side was inside so that when you tried to eat it the onions and cheese just slid out onto the plate. Very disappointing experience. I really couldn't wait to review this place. Very seldom do I come to a new restaurant and be pleasantly surprised. As usual, I looked up nearby restaurants to find myself a place for dinner. I simply found one of the highest-rated places with good-looking food. Well, in this evening, I wanted a hearty salad so I headed here. I walked in and started to look at the menu. I asked the person at the counter a couple of questions and it wasn't until then that I realized that this meat-eater just walked into a vegan restaurant. Well, since the guy at the counter had been so nice, I felt too bad walking out of the restaurant at that point. I ordered the Taco Ensalada and the Stuffed Jalapenos and sat down. Once I got my food, I started to have what I could only describe as one of the best meals I've had in recent history. Now, I'm not "against" vegan meals but I will admit that the word alone just makes me think of gross textures and weird flavors. Well, this place changed that opinion fast and I honestly can't wait to come back. I live in the city so it'll probably be a couple months until I have a reason to come back up north but I'm already looking forward to it. I know Cozy Plum has two locations. Perhaps they'd consider opening up another location closer to the city! Pretty please! They'd do so well in Marin County (I'm thinking San Rafael or Mill Valley). This had been a fully vegan, fast food cafe. I had come here anywhere from twice a week to several times a month, even though I do not live in the same town. There were actually only several dishes that I ordered, but I still came to support one of the few fully vegan restaurants in the county. Now that they are not fully vegan, they have lost my biz. The prices are high and the frequent deep-fried oily smell, if you have to sit in the front half of this small cafe, can nauseate me. I also find the owner's comment in response to Pook M's review deeply offensive: "This may well be a "sellout" to some loud, angry, chronically dissatisfied vegans," As do I his recent promotion of fireworks, which are well-known to have devastating effects on wildlife and many pets. used to go to the one in Santa Rosa all the time unfortunately this location in Sebastopol ruined it for me and my grandmother. We went in there and ordered our usual carne burrito we did to go but ended up eating it there. I took a bite and noticed there was no avocado in ours and my grandmother noticed hers had none either so I went and told the guy and he told me that I have to tell them that I want avocado on my burrito when that doesn't say anywhere on the menu in fact in the menu, it shows it as a ingredient inside of it and they kept arguing with me that I have to tell them, but the fact that I didn't even have any guac to begin with, so if I had to ask, don't you think there would be some on the side so after they argued with me about it, they finally give me a small little guac on the side and expect me to dip my burrito in it at that point I was frustrated and I just ended up leaving will never go back and the people that are running. It gave me a fake email to email the owner when I asked for a phone number so here I am on yelp do not recommend. I wonder if they changed Owners also burrito didn't taste like the other places. It was very dry and was missing all the ingredients. I was hoping for a fresh plant-based meal but the carne asada burrito was BAD. The carne tasted like it had gone bad sitting around a few weeks too many. We are so sorry to hear that they are no longer plant-based and we started wondering if their carne might actually be cow flesh. Her excellent customer service almost made up for the disappointing Carne Asada Burrito. the veggie meat was overly fried and the sauce was too thick and a bit tasteless. usually, it is one of my favorites. My wife has never had a cheesesteak! Really! So, on a Saturday not long ago we wanted to go to Wild Flour Bread and I looked around the area for Cheesesteaks. I noticed the Cozy Plum...Right on our way! We stopped in and looked at the menu and for some reason I didn't notice that they are a Vegan Restaurant. (I didn't even notice that fact while I was reviewing the restaurant.) Well, here we were. I went ahead and ordered their cheesesteak sandwich. It came with a salad and I chose vinagrette dressing, which was fine. It was made using a meat substitute for beef. It had peppers and onions and a "cheese" sauce of some kind. It was piping hot. Well, I am sorry, I just couldn't get past the Vegan meat and sauce. My wife took a bite of the "meat", but not a bite of the sandwich. Too bad, the bread they use is excellent! Price of the dish was $18.75, which I thought on the steep end but it was worth it for the experience. The restaurant was very clean. The bathroom was spotless. There was even a couple groups of men who came in and rearranged the tables to thier liking. So they are amenable to that. It is a long narrow restaurant. I suppose that at another time I might try one again here. I am giving this a 4 star rating. It's not their fault that I have other predelictions.
