I stopped by with a friend on our way back home from wine tasting where we heard a couple mention this diner and the winery worker said "it's an absolute must try" so naturally, we had to come ourselves! Cute little joint with both outdoor and indoor seating. Very much old school diner vibes. The staff was SO sweet! Nadine and Michael (siblings) were so welcoming and kind, they really made the experience that much better. First timer at this long time staple in Sebastopol. Wanted something quick, tasty, and simple. This place came through with the added bonus of grass fed beef and all day breakfast menu! Opted for a burger but as a breakfast lover, I'll be back to try their egg options. Prices here were reasonable. And the burger large! I inhaled my bacon cheese burger with chilis before I could take a picture. Delightful with a little heat! Bacon was crispy and the 1/3 patty substantial. Service was quick and the staff friendly. Apparently it's owned by a family for over 17 years! Diner looks like a diner with limited seating but the pictures on the wall showcased some history of Sonoma county and the owning family. I personally like seeing the history of an establishment and/or location. There is one thing I wasn't a fan of: the baklava. I loved that it was offered but it was stale and the pistachios left whole. read more

Great burger and fries! What a cute little roadside diner! SUPER Friendly people working there and they know how to cook up a good burger. The buns are grilled but soft and pillowy, the ground beef is well seasoned and juicy and its a good sized meal. I got the super caliente burger with onion rings, my hubs got the bacon cheeseburger with fries. They have nice outdoor seating which was great because we had our puppy, Tucker. I started eating red meat a few months ago and have been trying out different burger joints. Most of them do some kind of charbroil thing which adds a lot. Not this one. It wasn't bad, just meh. It does have a nice outdoor seating area on the side and back, so that's a plus. But I probably wouldn't go back. read more

For three years we've driven past D's Diner and somehow never stopped. Today we finally corrected that mistake and discovered a total gem in Sebastopol. Classic diner fare done right. The cheeseburger and fries were fantastic, exactly what you want and nothing you don't. On top of that, the owners are genuinely warm and welcoming, which makes the whole experience even better. The owner is fantastic and took the time to ask us questions and feel like special guests. This was our first time here and he kindly said to take our time reading the menu. There's such a variety and everything sounded great. My husband skipped breakfast, so he devoured his Hula Burger (w/terriyaki and pineapple) and half of my Mushroom Burger. I upgraded my patty to grassfed beef. So delicious topped with mushrooms, fresh lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and pickles. I wasn't expecting pickles but it was a nice touch. My husband also wasn't expecting pickles in his Hula burger but he loves pickles and was pleasantly surprised that it went with pineapple. He said the owner understood the assignment lol. We also shared a side of crispy, perfect fries and dipped them in creamy, flavorful ranch. Ambiance is a casual diner, as expected in the name. Lots of artwork on the walls and cozy booths. THE BEST BURGER PLACE EVER Got the super cliente burger (with jalapenos instead of serranos) and it was fantastic! Delicious, thick beef, patty, perfectly grilled onions, delicious sauce, very fresh, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles with bacon, and their sweet potato fries are the best I've had in a long time too. Don't get the fish and chips, it's not their strong point. It doesn't matter how much you ask, beg or request your burger to be well done they will make it medium. Or if you ask for you fries crispy, they will come back barely cooked. I just don't order them anymore after several tries. I like the double burger with cheese and my buddy always swears by the teriyaki burger. Staff is always friendly tho and on their worst day they are still pretty good. It's pricey but everything is these days. I can't imagine trying to feed a family there. A burger, fries and shake are gonna run you close to $30.. read more

We stopped at D's Diner yesterday after spending the day at the beach. It looks like it has been a local establishment since the 1950's so we liked the vibes. You walk in and order. There's some seating inside and some outside. It's a cute little dive. With that being said, I had high expectations for quality food. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I will acknowledge the hamburgers are pretty good (appeared and tasted like fresh ingredients). The onion rings and sweet potato fries were good too. On the other hand, the BBQ Tri Tip sandwiches were disgusting. The tri tip was not fresh, several days old (I'm sure). The tri tip was dry as jerky (clearly overcooked- maybe microwaved). They served 2 very thin slices of this so called Tri tip on the sandwiches. I nearly broke a tooth trying to bite through it. There was little meat (which turned out fine because it was so awful). Whatever you do - DO NOT get the BBQ Tri Tip sandwich!! They really should remove it from the menu! The people working were friendly overall; however, when we told them about the Tri Tip they would not acknowledge how we felt. I ordered a burger, they could have offered to replace the Tri Tip with a burger but they didn't. Not apologetic at all. They had delicious shakes and some delicious baklava. I thought having baklava at this diner was an interesting addition. The parking is limited. The bathrooms are outside the establishment. If you choose to go - be sure to stick to the burgers, fries, onion rings and shakes! Don't waste your time on the BBQ Tri Tip sandwiches!! They are expensive - you'd be better off buying a bag of jerky (you could buy a couple of bags!). read more

We stopped here at D's for some food while visiting my daughter and son in law. First off we were treated like family and the owner Mussa even came over to introduce himself. The food was prepared with care and was so delicious. I had a grass fed beef patty melt with fries, my daughter had the fish and chips and my sil had a killer grass fed burger. Everything was so fresh. If you're looking for a great place to have a bite to eat, make your way to D's in Sebastopol. You won't be disappointed. Musa is one of the nicest restaurant owners I've ever met. This place makes me nostalgic for home. I have only been living in Sebastopol for a few months and haven't tried any other restaurants yet but we keep coming back here again and again because his family is so incredibly nice and the food is amazing! I wasn't expecting to be offered the option of what kind of beef I want and I like that they serve drinks too. I don't need beer on tap, sometimes we just want a quick drink with our meal and they have a great selection. Musa, if you read this bring back the car shows! We would love to see it! Stopped here with my husband based on the good reviews and the overall look. Was not disappointed, though some of the decor on the inside isn't Americana, it was still a cozy and nostalgic feeling atmosphere. He got a double burger, and hubby was pleased they had a gluten free option for the bun. I got a grilled chicken sandwich and it was quite good. Not Worth the Hype or the Price I ordered a burger from DS Diner listed at $10.95, added sweet potato fries and a bottled Coke. The burger came out looking gray and overcooked--not appetizing at all. The bun was hard as a rock, there were just a few grilled onions, and barely any cheese (if any at all). The patty was dry and flavorless--honestly, one of the worst burgers I've had. When I placed my order, I asked if they had gluten-free buns--they said yes. Then the cashier asked if I wanted grass-fed beef. I said "okay," not realizing it would hike the price up. The fries were $5 for a tiny portion and clearly frozen, not fresh. My total ended up being $35, which is absurd for the quality and portion size. I wouldn't recommend DS Diner. If you like greasy spoons, then this is the place for you. Unfortunately, this isn't our type of place: the nondescript, stark look, lackluster service and mediocre food. A friend recommended this place so we decided to try it. You order at the counter, get your own silverware, napkins and water. I was a bit concerned with the cleanliness of the silverware. The server plopped our food on the table and quickly left to continue her rather loud conversation with a fellow employee. (I think they were the owners). The loud banter continued throughout our entire meal which was obnoxious. The only checkin from the server was as she was quickly passing us to go out the back door. I think she said in passing "All right?" Never even bothering to stop to say it. All while she kept up her nonstop talking to the other person. Such bad manners. My husband ordered a burger. I ordered the pancakes and eggs. While driving home, my husband popped a lozenge to try to get the greasy taste from his mouth. My pancakes and eggs were very average. Nothing special. Stop what you're doing and get the caliente burger! Seriously so delicious and grass-fed which is refreshing to have that option! Also, queso on a burger?! Genius. Burgers made with organic beef, crispy flakey finish and chips, a one of a kind bbq menu and my favorite, the super caliente burger, a spicy savory blend of saucy chipotle and Serrano peppers paired with bacon a pepper jack on a brioche bun. Absolutely mind blowing . It's an off menu special for now. So go in and try it so it can earn a permanent spot on the menu. We ordered 4 cheeseburgers, garlic fries, onion rings, 2 shakes, and a soda and it ran us close to $90 with tip. It seemed a bit steep. We Sat outside for our food to be ready. The food was good, the burgers, fries, onion rings. The shakes are another story. They were almost $7 each and were awful. My son said it had no flavor and tasted like thick milk which is gross. Again, everything seemed a bit pricey but the burgers were decent. Skip the shake. read more

Happened to be in the area and was hungry, so I decided to stop by. Walked in and the place definitely has the old diner vibe to it. The gentleman behind the counter welcomed me and showed me the menu. It was a cold and rainy day so I went with the chili dog. Every time I come here I'm shocked how good it is. It's like an ascended Fosters Freeze, but with higher quality ingredients and much better shakes! Their fries are the classic crinkle cuts but placebo or not they're the best I've had! Super good shakes. I only knock down the score for the price which isn't too crazy for Sebastopol standards but feels a little hefty. The old school diner vibe is impeccable though and the staff are all very kind! Staff are "defensive" to the point of being extremely offensive and rude. The man behind the counter asked my little sister if she would like ranch with her food (haha insert white people love ranch joke here), then when she said yes to be polite as he was offering , he made a passive aggressive comment to make his co-worker laugh and used the "khod" or "khawd" hand gesture at her while his fellow co-workers laughed uproariously. Another time, I went in with my (anti-racist her whole life) 80-something year old grandmother and he also made this extremely rude hand gesture that essentially means "up yours," or "f*#! you" while his co-workers laughed. We enjoyed eating here as it has grass-fed beef burgers. However, on both occasions we acted polite and were met with extreme ridicule for the apparently offensive act of purchasing a ridiculously overpriced burger. read more

The owner was awesome, came out and congratulated my soon to be daughter in law on her upcoming wedding and was very funny and cool.
