AMAZING burger in Sebastopol! Honestly I didn't expect it. I was super hungry and in the area so I fully went for it with a Onion ring burger with bacon and BBQ sauce and enjoyed every bite! I was pretty stuffed afterwards too. The diner has an old-fashioned feel to it and I would love to bring my car club there too but it is a smaller spot with a smaller parking lot. I imagine it gets packed during the normal service hours. I spent $20 for lunch but it's worth it. read more

Among the very best burgers I have tasted. I know if no other place north of the GGB that does them so well. (Then again, I'm unaware of any south of the bridge either). The burgers are so juicy. It's impossible to take a bite without making yumm-yumm sounds. Excellent and classic crinkle fries compliment the burger. The menu is very large for a diner - they have many things that others don't offer. And yes, for those of us who are Celiac, they have gluten free buns. Who wants to go to D's Diner? (I do) D's Diner has been on my bucket list ever since I heard this song from the album Les Claypool's Frog Brigade -Purple Onion and found out it actually existed. After having an incredible weekend in wine country, I searched the Net and found D's Diner was only 25 minutes away. Which in Cali is just a hop, skip, and jump with beautiful views of the country side. It exceeded our expectations!!! My wife and I were greeted by Pete (we thought he could have been the owner) but just a LOYAL LOCAL that has tried everything on the menu! He ordered the Tri-tip sandwich so my wife ordered the same on gluten free bread w/garlic fries. Delish! I ordered the Caliente Burger (local grass fed beef) w/sweet potato fries!!! Unbelievable!!! Family Owned and Operated, (Mous) the owner himself and his wonderful daughter greeted us with amazing hospitality. Their warmth, love, and energy resonates in every ounce of D's Diner. I loved this place at first step out of the vehicle. Everyone that worked there were warm, open, and courteous. I didn't know what to get so asked the boy behind the counter ... Okay he was likely over 18 but im getting to that age where all my friends' kids are all high school to college age .. And ... Well need I say no more ... He was a kind, had a great suuggestion, and was all smiles while counting off all the typical things most popular. But it was when i asked what is your favorite he grinned and said to try a variation if Burger with bacon ... I was like ..... Awesome! Lets do it. Yes they were closing and we werent the last people there or even to order ... I have lived in Sebastopol for 10 years now but had never made it to D's. I'm so sad I went all these years without trying them! I got the caliente burger on the gluten free bun- so good! Perfect level of spicy, the burger was very tender and juicy, and the bun was so good I had to double check that they actually gave me the gluten free bun! The owner was very kind, checked on us throughout our meal, and even brought the box of buns out to me so I could see the brand, and told me where to buy them. I thought it was a great combo of delicious food and warm customer service, wrapped up in a homey diner feel. Will for sure be coming back! read more

This is another family run 1950's style burger joint with a twist, in that they use Ninman Ranch beef. The same beef used in many higher end restaurants. I'm not sure if it's really that much better, other than it's certified humane, and used by chipotle grill. My order was a double cheeseburger with mushrooms, a order of onion rings, with a Mexican Mandarin orange soda. The burger was good at about 8oz, but not exceptional. The onion rings were very good, but not very many in the order. What can be said about a Mexican orange soda? Other than all Mexican sodas are pretty good. But the price point at $32 is bit high. So at $35 with a small tip, you have to not be just good, but exceptional. Don't get me wrong I like the place, and I like the family that runs it. The parents run it in the morning, and the kids have the afternoon and evenings. So if there is a big reason for me to return, it would be to support a small family run business. read more

Oh my gosh, I am so happy we decided to try D's Dinner. I wish we'd stopped in long before we did. A wonderful, casual find. It's " fast food" but prepared with the attention of a cafe'. The family who owns and operates the diner are hospitable, warm and welcoming. We've eaten the burgers ( my favorite is The Ortega), the fries, the onion rings, side salad and coleslaw, all wonderful. We recently were in town looking for a quick breakfast and thought " why not?" Breakfast is just as wonderful as the burgers! I had the scramble with spinach, mushrooms and eggs. Fabulous! Better than most traditional "sit and order" restaurants, certainly much less expensive, by 40-50%. I don't recall what my husband ordered. Whatever it was, he cleaned his plate ! Don't let the presumption of "fast food" prevent you from eating at D's. It's a casual experience with the quality and flavor of an upscale cafe. read more

Stopped by this spot after a walk around the Laguna Preserve after driving by it a few times previously. I'm a sucker for hole-in-the-wall diners so this looked like it would be right up my alley! I arrived around 10:30am - which was a bit early for a burger - but perused the menu and decided that's what I wanted as my way to gauge D's Diner. They've got a "D Burger" combo that comes with fries and is relatively inexpensive. You also get to choose your cheese, so I went with pepper jack. I was the only one there, so my order was made promptly and the guy working behind the counter was nice. He brought over some condiments for the burger and fries. I wasn't blown away, but the food was fine for the price. I think I played it safe with the D Burger combo, which was on the plain side, but it was extremely affordable. With their fast service and nice patio, it's definitely a spot I'd visit again. Next time, I'll be more adventurous! read more

Picked up some food for my kids thinking it would be better quality than fast food. Unfortunately the corn dogs are not the Niman Ranch hotdogs but rather Foster Farms corn dogs. I know this because they are in bags that say "Foster Farms". Gross. And one didn't even have a stick, it was broken off half way through the corn dog? My boyfriend placed a takeout order today and I am so confused and appalled about the way the woman treated him. It's hard to believe someone could be so rude over a to-go order... She was short and snappy, barking at him "what do you want" and when he wasn't loud enough, she said in a condescending tone,: "if you want me to hear what you're saying you're going to have to speak up." He placed the order, two falafel sandwiches, and then she asked "what else" also in a rude tone. "well, nothing that's actually all it is" "okay" "is there a time frame of when itll be ready?" "I dont actually have that information, so how about soon, ok?" then she hung up on him. Again, horrible and mean tone. When he picked up the order he asked if they had hot sauce. she told him it was in the bag. we get home and its not in the bag... The weird part was, it pretty slow and not busy so there's no excuse for how my boyfriend was treated... Ive also never left a Yelp review before... but I'm really upset. read more

The burgers have been good in the past but tonight I was terribly disappointed in the pathetic $13. Tri tip bb quedTri-tip sandwich... it was dry bread, full of tomato and lettuce but about 1/3" of tough thin beef, no flavor at all... I would be embarrassed to serve that to anyone. They should be ashamed of themselves. They are competing with some very good restaurants in town... A costly meal and nothing but a poor excuse of a sandwich. We are in the River area at least once a year (usually more) and I've often passed D's but never ate here. We will no longer be passing from now on. I think this would be one of the best burgers ever. Everything tasted so fresh and extra points for a really AMAZING bun, that the owner said they get from an old bakery in Santa Rosa. Very underwhelming for what they charge. I thought I was over charged but was assured I wasn't. They tried to upsell me on the burger and I'm not a fan of that tactic. Fires were so so. Onion rings were all batter, and the burgers were thin and just okay. Any sides come extra and are not included. Great little diner in Sebastopol. My fiancee and I were in town and were looking for somewhere quick to eat. We choose D's Diner based on the reviews. We couldn't have been happier. D's Diner is a very small old school looking diner. It is family owned and you could tell they take great pride in their business. I believe the owner, who was also the cashier, came by a few times during our meal to make sure we were satisfied. He even apologized for the TV that was not working at the time. I ended up ordering the Tri-Trip sandwich and it was beautifully made. The meat was perfectly cooked and was really juicy. Portion sizes are big. I couldn't finish the sandwich, so I had lots of leftovers for later. My fiancee ordered the hot link plate and the sausages were really hot/spicy, but still good if you can handle the hot. Overall, we had a great time here. Love supporting small businesses! This place is a must try if you are in the area. read more

Musa is the consummate host. He makes your visit to D's like coming to supper at your favorite uncle's. He is a kind and generous man. I ordered a custom omelette with his special Caliente sauce, a concoction that is bright, creamy, and especially picante. The coffee is as good as any barista's. It isn't the average American style. He gets the beans locally and makes each self-serve carafe with care and love. Enjoy liberally! The vibe is terrific - it is a perfectly maintained 50s diner, with 3-1/2 inside booths, bar seating along the windows, and plenty of covered outdoor picnic tables. I'm sitting in one of the full booths. I'm here for breakfast, and there are people coming in for pickup orders, some ordering milkshakes, everyone seems genuinely pleased to stop in. The menu rocks - much/most is American style, and there's a great middle eastern selection as well. He sampled me some of his fresh-made hummus - goes great on my breakfast potatoes! This is a fun little diner. It's been here as long as I have in Sebastopol 32 years. I've eaten burgers here many times. My boyfriend ordered the double bacon burger. And I had the avacado burger because that's one of my favorite things with avocado which was just delicious for such a simple meal. The fries were tender and flavourful. The owner is a delight and he will share a story or two while your meal is being prepared. I like that personal touch. You won't be disappointed if you come to this restaurant. I was going to opt out on the salsa because I don't do spicy but the owner assured me it wasn't too spicy and that it adds lots of flavor and it did! He was right. Highly recommend.
