Finally, made it to Piner Cafe! This place is usually busy but we were able to get a table on arrival. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. Had the chorizo omelette that was served with country potatoes and toast. Inside is clean and has sort of a hometown vibe. Service was fast and friendly. Price seemed on point and left quite full. This is a basic diner next to an auto repair shop. Parking is a bit difficult as the lot is small and street parking seems to be taken by the repair shop. They were rather busy when I went. Luckily, there was a seat at the counter or I'd have had to wait. The waitress took my drink order, though it was a bit before she got back to me and I hadn't been given a menu, nor a setup, so couldn't stir the sugar in my coffee. Parking was easy as they have a lot in the back and street parking. When we entered we were told to pick a table. It was around 9am and they had plenty of seating available at this time. They instantly started us off with drinks, I just ordered a water and my partner got a coffee. I also ordered a vegetarian omelette and a single pancake. My partner got two scrambled eggs with bacon and English muffin. Food came out pretty quick. My single pancake was huge, definitely a big fluffy treat there. However, I wasn't impressed with my omelette. The menu didn't exactly explain what was in the vegetarian omelette. Perhaps it was my bad for not asking, but I wasn't expecting broccoli, cauliflower, and mushrooms laid on the side. The morning after attending a wine tasting event and enjoying a bottle of wine later that evening, my wife and I needed a hearty breakfast to soak up the alcohol. After doing a quick "around me" Yelp search, I found the Piner Cafe. The cafe had stellar reviews and the food looked delicious, so we were excited for what was to come. Upon arrival we were greeted by a small line at the front entrance. A friendly employee encouraged us to add our names to the wait list and informed us that the wait was 25 minutes. Roughly 15 minutes later we were being summoned by an employee (unfortunately I did not get her name) who seated us. She quickly provided us with water and menus. I ordered the eggs Benedict and a mimosa. Less than 20 minutes later our food arrived at the table looking as delicious as they did on Yelp. Our food not only looked the part, but tasted the part as well. It was so good that I made sure that I took time to savor each bite. Our server did a great job of attending to us without hovering. I have to mention the unique and much appreciated style of how they serve a mimosa. Instead of mixing the orange juice and sparkling wine for you, they give you a flute with a small portion of orange juice (perfect for folks like myself that prefer a higher percentage of sparkling wine vs. orange juice). We both enjoyed our meals and will definitely make a return visit whenever we're in the area. The ambience and the seating makes it very nostalgic and cozy. But the service is great. Everyone seems very nice and happy to be at work. Which really makes a difference in customer service. But the food is what brought it all together. We ordered country fried steak and the farmers omelette. The country fried steak was crispy and had good flavor. The farmers omelette was topped with the lot of meat. They were not skimpy on the bacon like most places. The toast was perfect. And the orange slice was sweet. I have been here numerous times in the past. My friend and I sat at the counter waiting for a hello, I will right with you, or some kind of acknowledgement. A gentleman walk ed in and sat next to us. The waiters brought out his drink and took his order again with out any acknowledgment. I said this is not right taking his order before even asking us our drink order and we left. Our go to is a torta sandwich, we change the bread to sourdough and out eggs over hard. And wow. The caramalized onions and jalapeños inside are just a staple. The potatoes is perfect. We stopped by after visiting a newborn at the hospital nearby and the breakfast was wonderful! Homemade fluffy biscuits, homemade gravy with bacon and sausage in the gravy. Delicious food. This place had really great service and The server was friendly, polite and professional. The food was not good and it was way too expensive, especially for the quality of food. I ordered sausage and scrambled eggs with hash browns. My wife ordered the Cajun sausage with over-easy eggs. My sausage links were really gamey tasting and the consistency was like cheap crumbled sausage pressed into the shape of a link. I took one bite and that was it. Gross. The hash browns looked good at first glance. But they were so thick that although they had a crispy outside, the insides were complete mush, like oatmeal. My wife's egg whites were still super runny and we had to send them back. Also gross. Her Cajun sausage basically tasted like a hotdog with cayenne. Man, I really hate to give a bad review but my husband and I were really disappointed with this place. Piner Cafe has been around forever but somehow we'd never been. We love trying new places so we decided to give this one a shot. The restaurant was packed on a Saturday morning which made me think we were in for a good meal. Sadly, we were not. My husband ordered their sausage and egg (scrambled) breakfast and I chose their Cajun sausage and egg (over easy) breakfast. My husband was really hoping to add a side of bacon but they wanted $7.25 which seemed way overpriced. Our food was ready pretty quickly but unfortunately I had to send mine back as my egg whites were totally uncooked (I love a runny yolk but runny whites? Yuck). They fixed it right away. The Cajun sausage was spicy but also tasted like a cheap hot dog. My husband's sausage links were super greasy and had a gamey, not fresh flavor to them. We ended up swapping his links for my Cajun sausage as I was able to tolerate the sausage links a little better. The hashbrowns were really nice and crispy on the outside but total mush inside. Their coffee was very watery and not good. My husband joked that the best part of breakfast was the toast. Overall a very disappointing meal. We ended up leaving most of our meals on the plate which we absolutely hate doing. We got the impression that they skimp on the foods they buy and then mark them up way too much for the quality they're providing. The one redeeming factor about this place was the service. Our server was super nice and very attentive, and made our experience not completely terrible. Sorry, Piner Cafe. I wish you all the best but we won't be back. read more

The staff are friendly cheerful and engaging, all while being efficient and observant. I asked for my omelette to "not have any brown" on the eggs. It was perfect. The linguica and cheese omelette was stuffed inside and out. My meal came quickly and my server Amanda made sure I had everything I needed. She even asked me if I wanted more coffee before pouring it! It's clear there are many regulars and it's clear why. In my family, we call this place Piner Diner, which I think better describes this restaurant. First off, great service...all of the servers are super fun and polite and take the time to meet everyone. Love it. The decor is simple but clean ...feels like a kitchen table and plenty of quirkiness to entertain you while waiting for the food. The food is superb..some of the best fries in Sonoma county. The breakfast is huge and delicious and fantastic....the wait times on weekend are testimony to this fact. Pancakes, French toast and more omelettes than I can list. They are all great! The chili burger is great as is the BLT and the all of the various sandwiches. The patty melt is a favorite! I was looking forward to trying this place out for breakfast. It's what some people might call a greasy spoon restaurant. The place was full even at 11:00 am. We had to park on the street. The place is like walking back in time. The service was excellent. Our waiter kept apologizing for the wait, but we could see he was hustling back and forth between his tables. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs. The gravy is one of the best I've tasted. My son had the sausage and cheese omelet. I finished my plate, and he took a third of his home. The people across from us ordered pancakes. They had 2, and they filled a large dinner plate. The coffee was also very good. I think I drank 3 cups with my meal, and I usually only have 2. I will definitely return. I recommend you cone with a healthy appetite! read more
