I can see why Jeffrey's is considered one of the best breakfast in Santa Rosa, and has been for years. With all of the options around it is sometimes hard to pick a place to go on a Saturday morning. Jeffrey's is a charming, family friendly establishment that is attached to a small inn off Highway 12. Other inside is pretty small, but they do have some outdoor tables. The interior has some lovely art on the walls as well as positive phrases making you feel like you're home. The service is also great here, and I feel like I've seen the same folks working here for many years. My wife and I ordered two different Hashes to share. The Brussel Sprouts and Bacon Hash is fantastic, which has this blue cheese aioli that gives the dish so much flavor. The Brussel sprouts seem like they're steamed and then tossed in the hash with sautéed diced onions, bell peppers and bacon. The aioli is on the side, but just adding a little bit to each bite gives it so much extra. We also ordered the special of the day which was a Smoked Chicken and Butternut Squash Hash. It has some of the same elements of sautéed onions and bell peppers, but this was served with a cilantro aioli. This dish, while not as amazing at the other Hash, was still really good. My daughter ordered the Buttermilk pancakes (added blueberries to them) with sausage and eggs. She certainly enjoyed them! read more

Honest review: The staff was great. Super friendly and helpful. In the end they made things right by me without me asking for any discounts or expectation. A++ for service! Food: Needs work. Ordered the Eggs Benedict. The poached eggs were on point. Absolutely perfect. The champagne hollandaise was a fun twist but couldn't save the meal. The English muffin might have been hard track. It was paper thin and I had to saw through it. Ham had no flavor at all. I don't think it was ham. Maybe thin sliced and unseasoned pork but not ham. Worst part was the county potatoes. They came out slightly above room temperature and hard. They're parboiled then flash fried. Not a bad way to get crisp but I can only assume they do this ahead of the rush and then they sit in a container to be served. My wife ordered her's extra crispy and they come out much better. Bummed! We used to enjoy this place but it has changed. Today we were overcharged for a mocha for $9 each, wow! And then charged $10 extra for the veggie substitutions on my plate without warning. The waiter Miguel was moving way too fast and didn't tell us that substituting spinach and mushrooms for the peppers and onions would cost an extra $7.25. Why not inform us first? Then charged an extra $1.50 for a side of aioli that was rotten and spoiled and inedible. Yucky and disappointing! We work in the hospitality industry and we know that it's customary to always let your customers know BEFORE they make substitutions like this it will cost extra. But in what world does a veggie substitution cost you $7.25? It doesn't require you to. Plus an extra $1 for gluten free bread without letting us know first. Also, the biscuits were not good, they had no meat or sausage in the gravy and the biscuits were sweet as if made with pancake batter instead of biscuit batter. What happened here? This place has gone down hill and we won't be returning after being loyal to this place for years. We were seated outdoors - the place closes at 1:30 and we got there around 12:50 - indoor tables full. The patio is shaded and comfortable. Service was prompt and courteous. The food arrived quickly. I had Joe's Special - a more unique scramble of eggs, ground beef, spinach and mushrooms with Asiago cheese and hash browns. The flavors were very well combined and everything tasted good. My son had the French Toast which came with 2 eggs and sausage as well: that's good was very good, but I continue to be disappointed in brunch spots that do not serve pure maple syrup - instead using your usual knock off breakfast syrup. It is a game changer for me and the food as a result suffers. No bubbles here with your breakfast, to be noted, if you like that with your brunch... but that is ok. The chips are made to order and cooked in the sauce just perfect enough that they were too crispy or too soggy. I wasn't a huge fan of how the black beans were seasoned, but that's my preference. Place was SO PACKED for just a Monday morning at 9:30am. I ordered off the "specials" menu, a recommendation from our server. Smoked chicken and butternut squash hash with poached eggs and a homemade biscuit. From bite one, I'm glad I listened. I could've used another bowl of the jalepeno "sauce" as it added a delicious freshness to my meal. All components paired well and it provided the savoriness I prefer. The parking lot is shared with the hotel as well so we were lucky we had gotten there between groups and someone left right when we pulled up. We had the fur baby with us too so we had a nice table outside. The server answered any questions, and checked on us frequently despite how busy it was. I've been working on trying different restaurants this 2025. This restaurant is a little hidden. But it is so worth finding. The service here is absolutely exceptional. We got there around 12:30 today and we were worried that they were going to cut our service or we were gonna get bad service since it was an hour before closing time. We were completely wrong, our server was so great . She constantly came to check on us and told us if everything was fine. She came to refill our water. Even though at this point, it was already closer to 1 PM. The French toast was literally Chef kiss. It was super delicious. I normally never can finish a French toast plate by myself, but this one I was able to devour. The country style steak was also good and very flavorful, but I preferred definitely the French toast . This cafe is located at the hillside inn and has good parking for visitors. Read reviews on this place so i thought i would try it out. Inside the place is like a nice old cafe vibe which I definitely like. Read that portions were big which was not the case for my visit. My girlfriend and I go here every time I'm in Santa Rosa and let me tell you it never disappoints. There's normally a line out the door on weekends but it goes pretty fast. We haven't waited more than 20 minutes. Everyone inside is very nice and welcoming when you walk in and although there's a lot going on, the people working there always take the time to say hi and get your name down on the list. As for the food, I always want to try something new, but I just can't. The brussel sprout hash is so good that I am constantly thinking about it and have to order it every single time. Just left this establishment. Started off good with warm greetings and a decent mocha. My husband and I ordered French toast and pancakes. When the food was delivered I requested additional syrup from our waitress since the pancakes were very fluffy. She didn't return to our table until my husband got up to request the check. She drops off the check and immediately moved to the table behind us and let's them know what the day's specials are, a step she overlooked when servicing our table. I have been me wanting to try Jeffrey's Hillside Cafe forever! And finally today I did. It's tucked away behind a hotel , parking was easy. The place is so cute and clean. Next our server was so sweet and fun she almost made the trip work it. She was funny and professional at the same time. Now let's get to the food, I had the eggs Benedict my son had the root vegetable hash with a couple of over easy eggs and my daughter had the pancakes with sausage and scrambled eggs. My eggs were cooked perfectly, the potatoes on the side had so much flavor and the texture was spot on soft in the middle and with a good sauté on the outside, my sons dish didn't sound great to me to be honest but I had a bite and it was very light not greasy not to crunchy just right, and my daughters pancakes were fluffy and full of flavor. A cute little hole in the wall with an interesting menu. From looking at the dishes in the diner, most are over-proportioned. Of the three dishes at our table only the cheese blintzes were worth mentioning. The buttermilk blueberry pancakes tasted like a bland box mix served with cheap syrup-definitely NOT maple syrup. The ham was stringy and tough and the scrambled eggs were bland. On top of that it was ALL cold. The person who got the breakfast burrito reported that it was very bland. Got a menu, coffee, and ordered right away, and the food came quickly for a busy place. The coffee was OK but a bit weaker than I hoped for -- not coffee house quality. I got one refill, but only after my cup had been empty for a while, and only after I asked for it. No more were offered. I ordered the Tex-Mex Scramble, with chorizo, veggies, and avo/sour cream topping. It was fine, slightly too many crunchy bell peppers to my taste. A big hunk of avo on the top with the sour cream. The chorizo was mild in flavor, I hoped it would be spicier, but it was tasty. I had hash browns -- maybe I should have gone for the house potatoes instead. They were pretty ordinary, not really crisp on the outside, but plenty of them. Aside from the one coffee refill, I didn't get much attention, and after the bill was dropped off and my credit card had been sitting out on the table for quite a while, I took it up to the counter to pay. Maybe I just didn't understand the concept of this restaurant. I guess it's not trying to be 'gourmet,' but simply a slightly upgraded version of a diner breakfast. A quaint, local spot with good food and neighborly service. If your in the area I would highly recommend stopping by and giving it a shot. It's a local favorite and its NOT BIG so expect a wait if your coming in during peak times. However the busyness of the place really speaks to its quality of food and service. I don't think you'll ever have a customer complain about the food or leaving hungry. The selections are all classic. I got the eggs benedict and my friends got the Huevos Rancheros and I instantly had food envy lol. We all topped it off with a bloody mary (wine, not vodka) and we were all pretty happy. Large portions and yummy food! We arrived by 9 am on Saturday and got one of the last tables from the first round of dining. Partway through our meal, most of the restaurant had cleared out before getting fully packed with a line out the door by 9:40 am. I enjoyed my corned duck hash but I felt the ratio of potato to toppings was a bit off. I wish I had more potatoes. My husband was thrown off by the roasted pear in this dish but I liked it! Gave them the benefit in the doubt while I was there, assuming I probably just haven't gotten to the chorizo part. Nope. None. The rest of the food was OK, but there are better places.
